Okay, here it is...Monday. First day of the week and wineless? I guess I ought to wait until the evening to make the final decision, but I know that if I stick to my guns and wait until my dinner out on Friday, then I know that I'll drop a pound or two this week. That is determination enough. BUT, what to do with the 4 bottles of cabernet sitting in my wine case?????
Ah, and it seems that I have forgotten about tomorrow night's show. Maybe what I will do is bring only cash into the club and leave my cards in the car, and then bring just enough for two beers? What if I promise myself that I will boogie a lot? And add an extra day of running in?
On a serious note, as much as I love beer, and as many times as I do turn down a happy hour or whatever, it makes me feel weak when I derail my no drinking streak. Does anyone else ever feel that way? Not to mention how aggravated I get with myself for being to hung over to exercise, and waking up in a pile of triscuits. What a little glutton I am! Geez.
Well, not on track here at all. Coulda/woulda/shoulda kinda thing.
Coulda gone without wine
Woulda felt better and probably woulda lost a bit more weight
Shoulda just said "no"
But I didn't. I caved into the wine....both Monday and Tuesday. None today, though (but I'll be having a margarita). The only saving grace is that I have lost weight. That makes me happy.
Hey ladies! Hahahahaha, I didn't make it either. On Monday, I had a day off and BF and I went to an amazing lunch where I had an awesome salad with eggplant, mozzarella cheese, and grilled shrimp while he had ravioli in a creamy tomato sauce and lots of bread. So, I ate well, but I had a bloody mary and 2 glasses of wine. Then, I went to happy hour Thursday and had 2 glasses of wine, and last night I had almost the entire bottle of Chianti on my own.
BUT...I lost another 2 pounds this week. So, I am doing something right, I guess.
How are you ladies doing? Today will be hard bc I won't have a choice to drink wine, it'll be beer. Ugh, wish me luck.
i did good the other night. i did only have two beers at the show, and i boogied for 2.5 hours straight! and someone mentioned that they could tell that i lost weight. Yay!
Today- I dunno if i will even drink because i do not feel up to going out. maybe it is becuase my purse was stolen during that show and i have no access to my money. yeah, that must be it.
BOOOOOOOOOOOO on your purse being stolen. YAAAAAAAAAAY on willpower and people noticing the loss!
Yesterday, I ended up having 2 dark stouts and then red wine, and not too much of it. I also got 140 ounces of water in and ate POP. Today, we'll see. It's still early!
Ok. After last night, I figured I had to come on this thread and post because I had TOO MUCH to drink last night. We go to a great annual St. Patty's party, hosted by some friends of ours. I started with vodka/cranberry juice/soda water (not too bad). Then the host always makes fireflies -- citrus vodka, triple sec, melon liqueur, and pineapple juice -- they are so much better than they sound. In fact, they are dangerously good. After a couple fireflies, I had no willpower whatsoever, so I reverted to my bartending days (from oh... 15 years ago or so) and started making b52s by request (baily's layered with kahlua- they are so yummy). So of course I had to have a couple of those too. The last time I had this much to drink was the same party ... last year. Needless to say, I'm moving a little slowly today... could be worse I guess, considering the mix of liquor I had.
My normal vice, like Allison, is wine. I usually only drink a glass or two in the evenings (and definitely not every night), but of course, that can escalate if I'm out or having wine with a friend. Except for the occassional party like last night, my heavy drinking days are a thing of the past, but the wine can creep those calories up -- so I do have to watch it.
BTW, I say Phish back in 92 in Hampton... great show. My husband's band does a couple covers (Sand, Chalkdust). Have any of you seen Trey since he's been touring? We haven't, but my husband has downloaded some shows from etree. Not the same, but still good stuff.
Alright...I got in my healthy and filling breakfast AND 80 ounces of H20 in already...time for a real drink.
Yep, BF and I went to see Trey's first show with the now defunct 70 Volt Parade back in April or May about 2 years ago here in Richmond Va. We left at set break. It was that bad.
Friday, had a glass of wine while getting ready to go out to dinner, then at dinner DH and I split a bottle of cabernet. For dessert, he had a cognac and I a Kahulah and cream. Was a bit dizzy the next morning when I had to get up at 4:30 to drive to San Diego, but not hung over.
Saturday, had a glass of wine while getting ready for our annual March Madness birthday bash (which this year just happened to land on my birthday--St. Pattie's). At the party, I had a corona and two margaritas. They tasted very good, but must not have been very strong because I didn't even get a buzz. I didn't eat very well, all it was was greasy appetizers. I had a dozen or so French fries, 1/4 a chicken quesadilla with sour cream and guacamole and lots of chips and salsa. I didn't have any of the Buffalo wings because my MIL said they were really messy and there weren't too many napkins hanging around at the bar. We had a good time, though. DH was pretty snookered!
Today, we're going out for an early dinner with the in-laws.
St. Patty's weekend got the better of me. I got beyond ridiculously drunk. That flip cup gets the better of me, every time. You can't keep track of how much you're drinking (and really first to 13 is probably not the best way to play and stay soberish).
I did a survey my freshman year about my drinking habits and from what that told me both nights I was "binge drinking" (4+ drinks) times 2.
I weight my self pre-drinking on Saturday at 129 and post at 131.5. Hopefully that's not all going to stay...
My in-laws took us out to an early-ish dinner last night. I had 2 glasses of wine. We got home at 7 PM which is our usual dinner time and I managed to say no to opening a bottle of wine and had water instead. I had the most remarkable night's sleep! I wasn't tired, but I slept so well. I really think that keeping the wine moderate was the key.
So my goal last week was to not have any wine. I failed. This week, I plan on stopping at 1 glass of wine per night. (Well, Tuesday it will be stopping at 1 margarita LOL!)
Oh man, glad I found this thread. I love good beer and wine. I recently found out that my current favorite beer (Dogfish Head) has like twice the calories and alcohol as a "FitDay" beer! I'd gotten to the point where I was having 3 beers or almost a bottle of wine a few times a week. I'm going to try to limit it to 2 drinks once or twice a week or a lot of drinks once a week. I'm a calorie counter so it's not like I'm not allowed drinking, but needless to say, wine calories aren't nearly as filling as chicken calories. :-)
Count me in as a person who struggles with alcohol calories!! My goal since Jan 1st has been to not drink between Sundays and Fridays, but I usually don't make it without slipping up at least once
At least I have switched from high calorie margaritas to beer and wine. But it's so depressing to know that even the lightest beer has 100 calories in it. And a glass of wine is around 70 cals (but that's like 4 ounces, which is like 3 sips and it's gone).
Ugh. I can resist cakes and cookies and chocolate like nobody's business, but I can't resist a good beer!
This thread reminds me -- there's an article in this month's Glamour about a few women who gave up alcohol completely for 2 months, and lost all kinds of weight. It was an interesting read, if not exactly what I wanted to hear.
