Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: My aversion to exercise. It's a huge challenge to make myself exercise daily. I am the prototype for a couch potato. This time around my rule is: 30 minutes of exercise (currently walking on a treadmill) daily. No excuses.
Following any specific plan: Cut down or cut out "whites": sugar, white bread, white rice. Stick with 1200 calories per day. Exercise 30 minutes without fail.
What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: Three close friends died recently. I've turned 65 and realize that I need to make a lifestyle change and not go for my usual "quick fix." I've lost the same 50+ pounds zillions of times. This time around…I want it to be lasting. I want to live healthily with lots of energy. No more fad diets. No more excuses. Baby steps all the way to a 100 pound weight loss.
Anything else you would like to share with us: Just to say that I am staggered by the determination and success of many of you who have written in here. The weight losses that I've read about are fabulous! Congratulations and best wishes for continued success to all!

I am trying to take it one step at a time instead of focusing on the end goal. I need to remind myself that i didnt put the weight on overnight and it wont come off overnight either

Following any specific plan: Calorie Counting
What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: Usually I start a diet because a family member suggests it, or a friend wants a weightloss partner and hey! I'm the fat girl so let's ask her to be my diet buddy! This time I have chosen it, for myself and by myself.

Anything else you would like to share with us: I'm just really excited that this forum exists. I'm probably over-posting in the last day or two, but it's really hard to share my difficulties, goals and hopes with people who I don't think will understand, and who I'm afraid will judge me. This community seems different.

Starting Weight: about 320 - haven't been on a scale in a very long time. Personal goal is to find a scale to weigh myself on by next week so that I know exactly where I am.
Present Weight: About 320, I would guess
Goal Weight: I have a few goals, First: 250 (where I was before my recent weight gain) 200 (where I want to be in order to do accomplish various athletic goals I have) and my ultimate goal is 150.
Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: Food addition, carb free, family responsibilities.
Following any specific plan: Whole30
What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: My mental focus. I realize that I am addicted to food, triggered by carbs, and that in order to succeed at this for a lifetime, there are things I may never eat again. That makes me scared and sad. I haven't quite processed the game plan on making this happen, I just know that is going to be the key to my success. That is what brought me to this forum, I don't think I can be successful without some support. Right now my support system is very limited....like zero.
Anything else you would like to share with us: I'm really looking forward to meeting some great people who are also on this journey and to find inspiration from those who have found their way.

I AM SO HAPPY TO BE BACK IN THE 100S!!! Sure, I didn't have much to lose till I was back to the 100s, but it is something, and I feel so excited about this weight loss, and being in the 190s now. SO SO, SOOOOO EXCITED!
First name: Paula

Children/Ages: 2 daughters ages 7 and 19 months and hoping to have another on the way soon. Time will tell.
Occupation: Online college instructor, PhD candidate.
Pets: 2 dogs, siblings, we got from a friend's neighbor. And a cute orange tabby. (I'm a cat lady).
Hobbies/Interests: Crafts, watercolors, languages, teaching, watching TV (I am the very epitome of couch potato, yeah).
Height: 5'4"
Eye/Hair Color: brown (like a dark caramel brown, some people have said they're almost reddish, which is creepy). Red (and I love it!)
Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: January 20th, 2014
Starting Weight: 209
Present Weight:196.2 WO HOOOOOOO!!!
Goal Weight:132 (although I have a few mini goals in between; the first one was being out of the 200s, the second is 187, third is 176, fourth is 165, fifth is 154, sixth is 143, and the ultimate is 132. They look odd because in my mind I still think in kilos and these weights go every 5 kilos... I know I should stick with pounds but I can't help myself, haha!)
Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: Boredom and impatience. Working hard on the impatience because I get so anxious thinking about the ultimate goal, and how long it's going to take, and how much work it will take... That's why I have SO many mini goals.
Following any specific plan: IP (after doing much online research, and with your guys' help, I am doing it on my own, no doctors, no IP products; I just can't afford them).
What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I am committed to my diet as a lifestyle, not as a "I will make it to my goal and give up." I am working on making this a long term commitment also so I don't feel impatient because impatience has been my downfall two weeks into every diet in the past.
Anything else you would like to share with us: I am just so excited about seeing the changes, and noticing my clothes fit a little bit looser, and being able to have you guys to share all these changes with. It is a very exciting journey! This is an awesome support group and I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better.

Present Weight: 244

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: General fear and anxiety over weight loss (was on a weird diet years ago, lost 50 lbs and part of my sanity for a time!). Laziness and lack of resolution.
Following any specific plan: More fruit, veg and protein. No refined sugars, grains, and restrictions on fats. Restricted to unrefined sugars, grains. Less cheese Moderate exercise to start, until my knees are better able to handle exercise.
What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: want to talk about it more. Want to plan ahead more. I am a snacker and want to plan meals ahead of time as much as possible.
