Ok, so I had to run in and tell my 3FC buddies this even before I put the groceries away!
So I had a neighbour stop me on my way inside today, she kept me on the steps, saying that I’d lost so much weight, how’d I do it? We sat down on the steps, and I told her what I did. She’s about the size I was when I started. Here’s how it went:
Me: Well, I don’t think what worked for one will work for all right? Her: yah, I know, but what did you do? Me: well, I did over a year of therapy to get to the root of why I had no control over food, and at the same time changed my eating habits, cut out fast food and junk food, and started walking. But mostly, I think the therapy really made the difference. Her: (getting up and leaving) Oh, well thanks anyway – I THOUGHT YOU ‘DID’ SOMETHING
You know...at my high weight, I knew that it was going to take actual work and real change in order for me to lose weight. That's why I put it off for so long! Seriously...what are people thinking?!
My uncle lost 100 lbs about five years ago (and yes, he kept it off...) and he said he did it by counting calories, but I was CONVINCED that he had secretly had a lap-band put in, and I watched him like a hawk to see what he ate....
Now, I do think some people "suspect" that I had WLS and am lying about it and one friend even pulled me aside and said "Okay, tell the truth, what did you do?"
