Robin.. I like your idea of a good breakfast to start.. I can do that!

Another issue I have is not wasting food.. I am a frugal person. If there is leftover food I don't let it go to waste... I hate that.

Have a great day everyone and thanks for the encouraging words.

I know what you mean about letting food go to waste.

But truly, carting it around on your butt when you don't need it is also waste, is it not? But rather than letting it biodegrade in some landfill or mulching it and sending it back to the earth, hoarding unneeded food in the form of extra weight will jeopardize your health and well-being, and your unfulfilled potential is the biggest waste of all.

I wanted to add that I had a stern talk with myself (other people think I am strange, no doubt!) and I told myself that I am not a garbage disposal.

Hugs to you.

DANA!!! I've missed you!! So nice to see you back!

I know what you mean about trying to "keep up" but like everyone said, do what you can, respond when it moves you.

Baby steps. You know, we all get so caught up in doing this weight loss thing the "right" way, the "best" way or the "quickest" way. And really it just needs to be "any" way. Right now I have set my calorie limit at 2000 calories. That is WAY high if you compare it to what others are doing, but my #1 goal is to stay on plan, and if I need more calories to do that, then so be it. I am also not monitoring what I eat. If it fits in the calories, then I can I can have it. I just need consistency. Day after day.

What can you do to start some consistency. Pick something that you will do. something you can stick with. something that works for you.

Glad your back!

Baby steps is the way to go....reminds me of the old saying "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time...."

Dana, I'm sure there are many of us who feel like we can't keep up. I lurk and read much more than I post, especially when I'm not doing as well as I'd like. I get so much from all I read, ther are so many people here that offer such great inspiration and encouragement.. Keep doing those baby steps they do add up.

Great!!! Breakfast IS a great way to start. Of course you CAN do that.

As for the wasting food, when you eat while not hungry or more then you should - isn't that the very worst waste of all? Isn't it a just as sinful, if not MORE so, to be gluttonous?

I can't begin to tell you the amount of food that I have tossed - with no guilt whatsoever, and I'm pretty darn frugal myself. But my health comes first - second - and third. It's waaaaay more important that I remain at a healthy weight, then overeat. It is a top priority.

Because leftovers have always been an issue for me, still are in fact, I try very hard to make just the amount of food that I will be eating at one sitting.

I'm not one to mete out this advice, because like I said, leftovers are a problem for me, but why can't leftovers be specifically earmarked for another meal? That's the only way I can handle them. If I have a very specific plan for them.

Dana!!!
I'm soo happy to see you

I like the idea of baby steps too, and am struggling even with those.
BUT, like everyone else said...don't worry about keeping up with everybody else, and just take it a little at a time

Welcome back! I missed you. Please, try not to worry about answering or responding to every single post. My goodness, I think that is just impossible! Believe me, I've tried!

Dana, it's taken me 20 years to get to this point. Weight loss could not have occured for me, if I hadn't put it front and center in my life. Period. Not only does it benefit me, I FINALLY realized that it IS in EVERYONE'S best interest for ME to be healthy, fit and happy. It has a wonderful, all around trickle down affect. I want to be there for my kids for many years to come. In FULL capacity. At my very best. I deserve it AND kids deserve it as well. They deserve a fully functioning, energetic and healthy Mom. I am SOOOO much better equipped to deal with everything now. Besides, what better example to show your children, then that of someone who takes charge of their lives and their health? I only wish I had shown them this lifestyle from the very beginning. But you know what, it's not too late. I can't begin to tell you just how much they have benefited from MY weight loss.

You have definitely been missed!! So good to see you again. I hope you find your comfortable happy medium. I know all about hectic schedules. I barely get to check in here a time or two each week myself any more. But, do keep coming back. It is a motivator for sure.

Again, glad to see you posting again.
