Monet: WHEN DID YOU CUT YOUR HAIR? I LOVE IT! By the way, Master Cuts has a great shampoo for white hair that is dark purple, but lathers up into a nice lavendar shade. Do you ever have a problem with your hair getting a tad yellow? This purple shampoo helps to eliminate that problem and NO it doesn't make your hair purple. Just nice and silvery. Its called Simply Silver or something like that.

Anyhow...I just got back from, yet, another interview with the school district, this time as In School Suspention and Detention Monitor. I think I did rather well, but I always think I did well and then someone with LUNCHROOM experience swoops in and takes the lunch lady job or Certified Teachers swoop in and take the Aide positions. So, we'll see. We could really use the insurance, but if I don't get the job, I'm going for it with a beauty salon.

I really need to get back on track, but you know, heat always brings yummy things to cool off with like ice cream and potato salad (see avatar) and summer fare like cheese burgers. And the fresh fruit goes to pot SO quickly in the summer heat. Excuses....but you know...

Okay...Missy...I'm so happy and proud for you. I was tearing up looking at the pictures of Blake, knowing what you've been through trying to have him. Alexis looks a tiny bit overwhelmed and will likely resent losing the spotlight, but I know you will handle that effortlessly. Keep us updated with lots of pictures!!

Rosemary, maybe thicker socks are the answer, but I would consider returning them, stating they hurt your feet, for that price!

Broken, I don't think I've properly said HI to you and Welcome to our boards. I'm usually much more active, but I've been sidetracked a LOT lately, both on the boards and with watching my diet. So, and Also, this way of eating can get your body to register some sort of detox or withdrawl symptoms, ditching the sugar and GI spikes all at once...but once you get over that hump, you'll see how it really ups your energy level, eating properly and exercising. I suggest drinking real iced green tea...by real I mean, brewing it yourself and adding a dash of splenda (not the kind bought in a bottle at the store). It really helps to detox your body and really boosts your mood.

Jen: Welcome to our corner! Sugar Busters is a great way to lose weight...especially with our group as mentors. Really, there aren't many questions you can ask that we don't have an opinion on, so ask away and GOOD LUCK on your journey. Remember, the walk of a thousand miles always starts with the first step....or something like that.

Toni, don't get too discouraged...I'm convinced that summer heat is responsible for little fluctuations on the scales. Drink lots of water and see if it doesn't go down.

Solly, my nieces wedding was in July and I can't, for the life of me, see why people get married in the summer, knowing what they have to wear. I'd much rather get married in the spring or fall.

I'd love to do more replies, but the kids are trying to get me to take them to the beach. I'm still in my interview clothes. Gotta run.

Good afternoon ladies.

It is 100 here today. I am not complaining, I love it. Whatever I have in my throat/head/nose has now moved into my right eye. I have tons of runny goop in myeye. I can't see and can't keep makeup on. I look funny. Good thing I am going to the dr tonight. Just hope she doesn't give me anything that I can't drink with, as this weekend on the boat will be lots of drinking.

I won't be back until Monday. I think I told you we are going on a friend's houseboat up to Madison, In for a Ribber fest for 3 1/2 days. Should be fun, if nothing else, just laying on a boat for 4 days is fun.

Toni, hope you feel better today. Maybe it's the heat. Kudos for still doing your even though you feel blah.

Rosemary, I am getting ready to invest in another pair of tennis shoes. I even went to a specialist that watches how you walk, etc. gave me 1/2 size bigger than I normally wear and my heal came out of them all the time. I hated them. Now the ones I have worn for 2 years have started rubbing blisters. Go figure. Maybe my feet are growingl. I would try taking them back Good luck

Tech, where have you been??? You had better get back on here and stay. Good luck on the interview.

No more time for responses, boss is calling. To all I missed, Monet, Broken, Bob, Aleka,

Have a great rest of the week and weekend. Talk to you Monday.

Holy cow its 104 here today. I'm not sticking my nose outside. When I have to take my little boston terrier out to pee it makes me sick. Yuck..... Well I cut a nice cantaloupe up this afternoon. I thought it would be great to reach in and have some thats ice cold. I walked on my treadmill and will do it again this evening. It sure is hard and I'm so sore but hopefully the scale will say I've lost this Monday. My eating has been good. Tonight will be a big salad and some trout fish and probably some of that cantaloupe. I'm getting in a good amount of water and also having some green tea. I'm so happy this Monday will be 3 weeks I've been eating right. I've not made it this long in over a year. We'll do a big grocery shopping Friday and I can stock up on more vegetables. I know I'm boring but I haven't been out to get any news.

Solly- Thanks for the encouragement. I can sure use it. I do feel better today.

techwife- Just keep on coming to the board. You're probably doing better than you think you are.

Rosemary- Sorry about those shoes. Hope you can exchange them or something. I have some old adias and they fit like a glove.

Monet- You're so lucky you have the pool. And going to a gym would be heaven. Theres not one for miles around here.

Well think I'll go get me another cup of tea and then surf the net...LOL Have a happy day and stay cool.

Hi,

Have just been busy. Do whatever I'm involved in and then come home and sleep. My DIL has been home the last three days and I have had a vacation from feeling guilty about not cooking.

She has been cleaning house, because I am hosting a YAH Game day and Potluck lunch here tomorrow. Poor girl had her scrapbooking project spread out over the dining room table and gathered it all up to get out of the way.

I went shopping this morning for last minute things for tomorrow, so had to sleep this afternoon. Oh well.

Hello to the newcomers, this is a wonderful group, very supportive and knowledgeable.

Dermatologist called, mole he removed was okay, so no further treatment.

Hope you all have a good night.

May good things happen, Shirley

Hi everybody,
Eating has been going pretty well. I don't know if I've lost any weight, but I feel smaller.
Last Sat. around dinnertime, we had a tornado warning, But, thankfully it expired and all we got was a lot of rain and high winds. I was glad DH was home at the time. I think I would've been even more nervous if I was here by myself.

Missy, Blake is so adorable. I loved the photo of Blake & Alexis. You have 2 beautiful children.

Sef, glad that the mole the Dr. took off was ok. I know how relieved you must be.

Toni, I see you have a Boston Terrier. I do too, her name is Lacee. She's 6 yrs. old, and will turn 7 in Dec. I know how you feel about going outside in the heat when you take your dog out. I hope you're feeling better.

Solly, hope you made out ok with the Dr. yesterday. Enjoy your weekend on the boat.

Jen, welcome, I know you'll feel right at home here.

techwife, hope you hear something good from your job interview.

Hi everyone!
Enjoy your day!

Hello everyone! I am heading off to North Georgia for the day. I have not been in over a month, so it will be good to see Bonnie and catch up. I think I will make square plates while I am there!

I am still kind of floundering on what I am eating and I feel a bit frustrated about managing my blood sugar.

I will check in tonight!

BOB: The mugs need another run through the kiln to smooth out a few pinholes, but are essentially done. I will probably do a glaze fire in less than a week. Shall I ship them to you as soon as they are done? PM me the address....

Hey everyone!

Just checking in to see what everyone is up to! Things here are going well. Blake for the most part is sleeping great at night – wakes up every 3-4 hours. Last night was a little worse and he didn’t keep his bottles down. So, hopefully that’s not a bad sign. Lexie on the other hand is having a hard time adjusting. Sometimes it seems like she’s ok with him and then other times……well….not so much. She’s been very difficult. Her behavior has been very challenging and she’s pushing my hormones to the limit! Hopefully things get better soon! Still no word as to when her adoption will be final…I’m just hoping it will be before she goes to kindergarten in 3 years – isn’t that sad?!?

One nice thing…I got on the scale yesterday and I weighed 7 pounds less than before I was pregnant and I’m still full of fluid, blood and milk! Can’t wait to see what my weight is once all of that is gone!!

MONET: Love the picture!! Look at you getting all high tech! Also – what a great frog cake! It was too cute! I made an Elmo cake for Lexie’s birthday – it was cute! As for the coupon…..I’m sure I have a few of those too in some of my drawers! That is hilarious!

BOB: You are right…we do have 2 angels huh? We are so lucky!

TONI: Thanks for the congrats! I am still a little sore from the section but every day is a little better. I’m just ready for these mountains on my chest to dry up! HA! The heat has been horrible here too – it’s miserable! I don’t even want to walk outside!

BROKEN: Welcome to the board. You will get tons of expert advice here from these ladies – they are wonderful!

SOLLY: You should see the LSU outfits that we have in our closet – he’s set for the entire season!! Hope you have a great weekend on the boat!

ROSEMARY: I hear ya on the shoes! What I need to do is find a shoe that I like and then buy a second pair right away so that I have another one once those go bad!! I do not like shoe shopping! I am in need of work shoes and tennis shoes and I dread shopping for both!

TECH: I sure wish one of those school jobs would pan out for you!!!! That way you could have your insurance and holidays off with your kids! It would be so convenient! Alexis is feeling a little overwhelmed right now – and it’s very hard to handle – I must say. I wish I could handle it effortlessly but I don’t seem to be! What can I do?!?! Suggestions?

SEF: What in the world is a YAH game? My table has all of my scrapbooking stuff on it too…..I just need to sit down and catch up!!

ALEKA: Tornado warnings scare me too! I’m a weatherbug and I love watching those tornado shows on TV, etc. but when one threatens me…I’m a wuss! I also love plotting hurricanes – so right now I’m a busy bee with the computer models and stuff for this Hurricane Dean. I just hope it doesn’t come into the Gulf! I don’t want to evacuate with 2 small kids!

Well, I’m off to check on Blake and get Lexie ready for daycare. Talk to y’all later!!!

Default Help!

Okay, I have began a plateau..........grrrrrrr

How do you overcome your plateaus? Excercise more? Eat a power food that boosts metabolism?

Also, I have started drinking a whey protein for breakfast and noticed my weight loss has drastically decreased........is this normal? Is the whey hurting my weight loss? The powder I am using has 3g carbs and 1g sugar.......I thought that was okay?

Also, I noticed the plateau beginning about the same time as I began the whey for breakfast....I love the whey because it keeps me full for hours in the morning, but it seems to be stunting my weight loss...

Any tips or advice for you who have been in my shoes is greatly needed and appreciated!!!!!

Missy: Just be sure to include her in everything you can...have her help you changing diapers...make her into your assistant...even give her an 'allowance' for errands run for you. And above all else...be sure to give her some alone time with mom. NOTHING is worse than engorged boobs. DH is looking at them like this and I'm looking at him like this . Pretty soon...before you know it...your body will be yours again and you'll be back to normal. Alexis will come around and I'm sure you understand that she's going from owning the spotlight to having to share it to the point of maybe not even being in it anymore. Just give her what she wants most as much as you can...time alone with mom to feel special. You're doing GREAT!! Post some pictures!!

Disney: Plateaus happen. You just have to ditch whatever sparked it in the first place and stick to your guns. They don't last forever and you'll be back on the losing side before you know it. It is discouraging, though...when you first choose to diet, the weight comes off pretty easy, then the going gets tough and it's easy to give up. Don't give up. You can do it...just stick to it and you'll see a pound here and a pound there adds up to five, then ten pounds.

Thanks for the advice TECH! I've been trying to spend as much time with her as possible. I'll try to do even more! She's too young to really understand "helper" I think. But, I'll give it a try. I'll post more pics soon!

Hi all,

Today I think I will have to vege (sp?) out. Except for two loads of wash.

The YAH get together was wonderful. It was a small group this time, but we had a great time. After eating, alas & alack - we gabbed a while and then decided we would play Trivia. We chose the TV Edition set, all questions on past shows and history of TV. My team won. I wish I could remember the important things like I do trivial things.

It was a great time, but by the time everyone went home, I was bent over. The more I hurt and tireder (is that a word?) I get the more my body leans over. Had to take some addition meds. I cleaned up, came upstairs....managed to stay awake until after the 5p news, I think I fell asleep during Jeopardy (6p here). I woke up around 10. By the time I let Bitsy out, did the getting ready for bed things, I was awake. So played three games of Mah Jong and went to bed. Because of the fun time I had it was worth the exhaustion.

Someone asked what a YAH game was. YAH stands for Young At Heart. It is a group of people, of a certain gray haired age, from church that get together once a month for some activity. It may be a museum, theater, movie, horse or car races, concert, etc. Every year we have a game day at my home. Have a potluck lunch, gab and play games. I try to go to everything whether I am a fan of the activity or not, I enjoy the people and it keeps me off the streets and out of trouble! The only formal meeting we have is in January when we decide the events for the year and who will be in charge of it. No dues.

The scale was down yesterday morning, I didn't weigh in this morning! Although I was pretty well behaved yesterday, except for a Kaiser roll, love those with butter. I passed dessert.

Did I say welcome to the newcomers? Glad you have joined us. This board has meant so much to me. Some of us have met face to face. A couple of years ago a group of us spent a few days at Fruitloupe's house. We went to a Mardi Gras parade and had a gay old time!

I am going to be very good with my eating today. Wish me luck and determination. When I am over tired it is easier sometimes to grab anything to eat that doesn't require work.

May good things happen, Shirley

Like BOB, I am popping in to say hello and have a great weekend! I have been working like a fiend. I have sold five of the ten items I listed on my Etsy website, so I am feverishly making more things to list. The kiln is almost full though not dry enough to fire yet. Tonight I threw a dozen mugs and a very large bowl. I am having fun, but boy am I sore! That is from helping my friends up in North Georgia shovel dirt for the floor of their horse shed. They had to move stuff around to correct some drainage problems. I got teased into helping and stayed very late last night working. I was pretty tired and thought I would not be able to lift my arms but it was not too bad! My back and shoulders are more sore than my arms!

Off to beddie bye! Sweet dreams my friends!

Hi all,

Just checking in. Yesterday I did nothing constructive except two loads of wash. I slept off and on all day. Feel more like me this morning.

Everyone here is holding their breath watching reports on Dean. He is huge, looks like he could be another Katrina!

Don't know what's on my agenda today. I suppose I should vacuum and dust.

MONET: Aren't you surprised when you find out you really have muscles?

BOB: Our resident movie critic! I like Sandra Bullock so would like to think her movies would be good. I could do with some housecleaning here.

Will look in later.

May good things happen, Shirley
