General location: Central Minnesota

Occupation: Public Accountant

Birthday: 8/15/1984

Marital status: Newly married (June, 2007)

Children/grandchildren: 0

How long have you been on WW/Flex: I started this week with the help of a coworker. She belongs to WW online and is helping me along since I cannot afford to join.

How much weight do you hope to lose: About 30 pounds

What do you do for exercise: My exercise level has definitely gone down. I used to run a lot, but now I walk on my treadmill for about 30 minutes if I do anything. Getting back into the swing of things has gotten me down!

What foods help you stay OP: I love yogurt and salads.

Why do you think you'll be successful this time: The points are rightfully named flex points! I eat out a lot since I travel for work, so it is nice to be able to still be on plan while traveling.

What is the biggest obstacle between you and success: Sticking with it! I am the biggest I have ever been, so this time I am dedicated!

How will/did you overcome this obstacle: I haven't yet!

What do you like to do for fun: I love reading and spending time with my husband and friends. Unfortunately, much of our time seems to be spent at the bar. Another obstacle to tackle!

What type of music do you like best? I listen to just about everything. In the mornings my radio in my car is set to a pop station since I love their talk show, and in the evenings it is set to 90's station.

If you were on a deserted island for a month, by yourself, what 3 (only 3) items (not people) would you want with you? FOOD, reading materials, and a floaty so I can enjoy the water!

Other comments: I'm going to do it right this time!

Name: Kimberly

General location: NW MN

Occupation:
Data Specialist - I work from home but drive to the office twice a month (two hour round trip drive)

Birthday: Oct. 1 (Somehow I turned 39 this year!)

Marital status: Married (2-1/2 years)

Children/grandchildren:
No, I have an unexplained fertility issue - although it's probably weight related.

How long have you been on WW/Flex: Just rejoined 1/4/08

How much weight do you hope to lose: A LOT -- 175 lbs.

What do you do for exercise: I have a membership to Anytime Fitness and have been walking on the treadmill. I currently have a tendon issue with my knee but if I take it slow, I can still use the treadmill. I'm hoping to incorporate the weight machines soon too.

Why do you think you'll be successful this time: Because I HAVE to. My aches and pains are pretty much all weight-related.

What is the biggest obstacle between you and success: ME. I don't have any excuses. No kids, work at home, belong to a 24 hour fitness place, etc.

How will/did you overcome this obstacle: I just re-joined at a meeting place and signed up for eTools. Since the WW meetings are about 30 miles from me, I will be attending the local TOPS chapter weekly for the official weigh-in and will be visiting various discussion boards (3FC, DWLZ, WW) for support. I also have the hypnosis CDs that Dotti endorses.

What do you like to do for fun: Rubber stamping, the internet, reading, shopping, talking with friends

What type of music do you like best? 70s/80s music

If you were on a deserted island for a month, by yourself, what 3 (only 3) items (not people) would you want with you? Water bottle with a filtration device, a tent, a very sharp machete - my fourth item would be the book "How to Survive On a Desert Island for a Month". LOL

I've been hanging around these forums for a couple of days now, time I filled out a bio These are kind of fun....

Name: Jaime

General location: central Virginia (though I foresee a move to NOVA this year)

Occupation: Business Research and Consultancy

Birthday: Aug 30

Marital status: Married going on 7 months

Children/grandchildren: None yet, though the plan is to start next year.

How long have you been on WW/Flex: Since 1/5/08 this time, I did it for a while three years ago and had great success.

How much weight do you hope to lose: 76lbs

What do you do for exercise: I have a WATP 3-mile DVD I love, a TurboJam DVD that kicks my butt every time I do it but it's fun, and a couple of yoga DVDs I alternate between when I'm not feeling up to more aerobic exercise. Then there's walking and DDR. I like to mix it up!

What foods help you stay OP: Almonds... sugar free fudgsicles... 1-point wraps with 8g of fiber ("Flat Out" brand)... fresh, seasonal, beautiful veggies!

Why do you think you'll be successful this time: Last time I was going it alone -- I chose not to tell anyone, didn't have a support network, and was doing WW from home. This time I'm doing WW with my sister, going to meetings, and I have all you lovely people for inspiration and motivation! I think having the necessary support network makes a HUGE difference, and the meetings are going to be integral for me.

What is the biggest obstacle between you and success: Myself... self-sabotage. I have a history of binge eating, and I'm both an emotional and a boredom eater. I've been doing much better the past few months and I really feel I'm starting to learn how to deal with the feelings that bring on a binge... which definitely helps my progress.

How will/did you overcome this obstacle: Ha, oops, just answered that.

What do you like to do for fun: Watch documentaries... knit... hike... read... play games and put together jigsaw puzzles... I'm pretty low-key for a 20-something.

What type of music do you like best? Little of everything except hip-hop/r&b. I like a bunch of classical music, I like bluegrass and classic country (e.g. townes van zandt), old blues (skip james!) a lot of classic rock, not too much contemporary pop, I tend to love indie rock (but not the emo kind, more like Sufjan Stevens and Iron & Wine). ...a bunch of stuff

If you were on a deserted island for a month, by yourself, what 3 (only 3) items (not people) would you want with you? The Oxford Complete Shakespeare... a giant box of matches... and a stationery set.

Marital status: Married

Children/grandchildren: 12-year-old son

How long have you been on WW/Flex: newbie, 3 days

How much weight do you hope to lose: 35lbs

What do you do for exercise: Just joined the gym, have done a few spin classes so far, have a personal training appointment tomorrow.

What foods help you stay OP: Too soon to say... chocolate pudding and celery sticks (no, not together!) helped today.

Why do you think you'll be successful this time: A different attitude: previously I've always wanted the weight gone asap; this time, I swear I'll be happy if it's just a pound a week. Also, the gym is a new thing for me and I'm optimistic that more exercise will not only improve my attitude but get me away from the fridge (I work at home). Attending meetings, this site.

What is the biggest obstacle between you and success: Allowing my emotions to rule my mind.

How will/did you overcome this obstacle: Two phrases that help are "Mind over matter", and one I read here, "If hunger isn't the problem, eating isn't the solution."

What do you like to do for fun: Read, ride, cook.

What type of music do you like best? Lots. I listen to a pop/rock or soft rock on the car radio, country music on weekend mornings, disco (yikes!) when working out, also love Motown.

If you were on a deserted island for a month, by yourself, what 3 (only 3) items (not people) would you want with you? Good (fat) book, sunscreen, blanket.

Other comments: Hi I'm new, see you around the boards.

How will/did you overcome this obstacle: Letting my man know about my intentions for excersize and healthy eating habits, and in turn he helps me to accomplish them and maybe join in once and a while. Who knew he'd like yogurt and apples?

General location: Northeastern Pennsylvania

Occupation: Wife to my hubby of 12.5 years (together 15.5), stay-at-home, homeschooling mom to my kiddos.

Birthday: February 4

Marital status: Married to my college sweetheart

Children/grandchildren: 3. Two on earth (DS: 12, DD: 4) and one angel baby, lost to a ruptured ectopic in April 2006

How long have you been on WW/Flex: April 8, 2008

How much weight do you hope to lose: About 75 lbs total

What do you do for exercise: Right now, walk, go around the playground with the kiddos. Will be getting out our exercise bike from storage soon, and really should check out any exercise tapes/DVDs I have.

What foods help you stay OP: Not sure yet! The Fiber One bars are good, and help. Curves bars are decent, too. Have a box of No Pudge brownies to try soon. I do love chocolate, so anything that can help me stay OP while I indulge that craving a little...it'll be a good thing.

Why do you think you'll be successful this time: Because of the flexibility with Flex. Tried South Beach a few times and just couldn't make it through a whole week on Phase 1. I like that I don't have to feel guilty for indulging a craving A LITTLE on WW. And I'm still plugging along after about a month...that's better than anything else has gone for me!!

What is the biggest obstacle between you and success: Not planning meals ahead all the time, therefore increasing how often I end up getting pizza or fast food. Sure, I can have them, but do I really want to use up the number of points they take, all the time? No. Also, not getting enough exercise in.

How will/did you overcome this obstacle: Will work hard to plan menus, and shop accordingly, so I'm prepared. Will get dinner cooking by a reasonable time. Will make myself start to do even 15 minutes of exercise...even if it's 15 mins of a video.

What do you like to do for fun: Spend time with my family, travel to see our parents and siblings, read, catch up with friends on the phone or in emails.

What type of music do you like best? Alternative/Indie/Modern Rock stuff...Classical...used to be very involved with choral music from grade school through college and beyond.

If you were on a deserted island for a month, by yourself, what 3 (only 3) items (not people) would you want with you? I'll copy... Toothbrush, Laptop with internet access...not sure what else.

Other comments: Just wanted to say "hi!" to everyone. This is a great group . I wanted to comment on a lot of the locations of members here. I was born & raised in MD. Dh was born in PA, but was raised in northern Virginia (from about age 1 on), and I noticed a few NoVA gals. My in-laws are still there .

We met in college in southwestern PA...someone is from Johnstown? Not far from where we were. We got married out there and lived there for another 4 years after we got married. Then we moved to...
central NY. Noticed a few central New Yorkers. Hi! We lived in the southern Finger Lakes region from Oct. '99 - Sept. '05...before we moved here...to about an hour north of Harrisburg.

Small-world stuff in online groups is always fun to me .
