Pause Day 1--Sunday, April 5: Planned pause day enjoyed to the fullest. For those for whom it is a holiday, Happy Easter.
Day 5--Monday, April 6: No sweets, no spuds. Thank you, challenge, for being the only reason why I passed up the free doughnuts in the morning and the free cookies in the afternoon. Especially in spring, my workplace is overflowing with sweets that in past times I would have just automatically consumed. I am finding that once I think consciously about it, I can usually withstand the temptation, but it is the mindless moment before that when accepting sweets has been so automatic that is one of my stumbling points. Well today I was mindful and didn't stumble!
Streudel, you are free to conduct your own challenge however you want, but the way I have been playing is that even if I have used my third pause, I am still eligible to complete the challenge without starting back at day one as long as I finish the rest of the 21 days without a pause. Either way, I am energized by your resolve to never give up in the face of crushing stress. I go through that too, and wish you strength and peace to make it through whatever is happening in your life.
Diana, you have a great streak of momentum for your step challenge!
I need more consistent movement from day to day... so 10,000 step min/day for 21 days with 3 pause days possible.

I'm glad to hear that I can keep going after the 3rd pause. I'm going to do that with this go round. Actually I'm glad the pause is a part of this challenge. Some if the habits I'd really like to work on will definitely be about progress over perfection.
Great job on passing up donuts, Geri!
Way to go on the 5 day streak, workinglikeadog!
Geri, You make your challenge look easy(though I know it's anything but).
Streudel, I can so relate to your thoughts on progress over perfection. I am moving more, so that is the positive way to look at todays fail.

I think I'm needing to take this one day at a time. Every day I don't binge is a victory.
Congrats on knocking down day 1 loves2garden. I always found that first day is the hardest.
Way to go on 1 week, Dr.Geri!
Workinglikeadog, how do you get your 10000 steps in? I struggle with this even with running 3-4 times a week.My job is so sedentary nowadays that I'm lucky if I get 1000 steps in unless I run after work.
Happy Saturday morning everyone. Pause 3 this morning. I had an appointment this morning and was running late, so no time for my planned breakfast. Still proud of myself for making the best possible choice in the given situation ( veggie egg white omelet flatbread from DD. Actually fewer calories than my planned breakfast )
I'm the kind of gal that needs to do everything the night before and have a morning routine or I will not get out the door on time. Next time I won't try to wing it. Or I'll plan on hitting the easy button with a pickup breakfast.
Streudel, In the summer getting 10,000 a day is easier because of gardening chores. I really am having to work on it for this challenge. It helps to start the day with 30 minutes of exercise, what I'm hoping to do after I log off from this site.
Geri, Good to hear you are reaping benefits from your better eating habits
love2, You can do it.

Diana You are right, and thanks for encouragement. 3 hours of gardeing including dividing hostas, transplanting, planting, weeding and mulching. Love doing it but am very, very sore, but happy.
Day 2, done
Day 9--Friday, April 10: No sweets, no spuds. A stressful, weepy, exhausted day. I cancelled an evening with friends to collapse in bed immediately after dinner. Thank goodness I did not come across anything challenge-busting.
Pause Day 2--Saturday, April 11: Planned pause day. I ate sweets and spuds to excess, and paid for it with a hard carbo crash, a bellyache, and nausea for the rest of the night. I think I am going to institute a new rule that incorporates what I learned from a past challenge: even though it is a pause day, I can only have JUST ONE dessert or potato dish.
Streudel, Gardener, and Hard Working Dog, I'm so glad you're here.

April 13th -Day 11 Check - Didn't think I would make it today, but I did.
Day 10--Sunday, April 12: No sweets, no spuds. Getting one hair's breadth easier to pass up mashed potatoes.
Day 11--Monday, April 13: No sweets, no spuds. Three people have asked me to see a doctor about my perpetual fatigue. I am worried that a doctor will merely look at me and blame it on my weight. But I am making slightly better food choices and, as evidenced by my clothes fitting a little better, dropping a few pounds, so why am I not feeling any better? Maybe before I was using the slight caffeine content in chocolate as energy (I am super sensitive to caffeine so cannot drink coffee or tea) and now I don't have that to help drag myself through the days. At least I am not making it worse with daily sweets and potatoes.
I am really grateful for our little support circle. Go Gardener, go Diana, go Streudel!
