So I'm curious! Please share why you chose your user name.
10-29-2003, 02:10 PM
Because its part of my real name....
Why did you choose yours SP ?
10-29-2003, 02:13 PM
I really do have a princess complex. For my first married birthday, my husband asked what I wanted. I told him that I wanted something that would show me how he felt about me and prove that he knows me. My real name is Brandi and he likes to call me Brandi Jo. So he went to a international registry and had a star on my favorite constellation officially named Princess Brandi Jo for my birthday. I thought it was one of the sweetest and most thoughtful things ever done for me and the user name reminds me of it. :)
10-29-2003, 02:20 PM
Gee yours makes mine look like a booger !!
10-29-2003, 02:47 PM
LOL - no it doesn't!!! I love the names that I see people using and everyone has a story or a reason. And for those of you reading and not replying, you're in big trouble!!!
Kim in NJ
10-29-2003, 02:58 PM
This is funny.... It's amazing how different people's personalities are. If my dh EVER spent money on naming a star after me I WOULD KILL HIM! I like gifts that help me out in some way - very practical - I know! For the birth of my first dd I got a dishwasher (after being married 10 years and never having a dishwasher it was the BEST GIFT EVER!!!!) Oh I and I love any kitchen gadget that saves me time!
My user name is boring too - it's just my name and my state!
10-29-2003, 03:31 PM
Kim, Kim, Kim darling Kim... a dishwasher ? You gotta tell hubby to pamper you w/fine wine and cheese (all Atkins friendly) then maybe some pretty earings to make your pretty face even prettier.... start thinking about you ! and not dishes LOLOLOL. (I didn't get a diswasher until 2 years ago and we are married almost 14 years HAAAAAAA!! I know what you mean).
Your not boring !! and neither is NJ, you haven't been to bergen county now have you !! us northern folk just love to party!
I think the Star gift is very thoughful, not to many men think of things like that, kinda romantic. Did he sing "you don't have to be a star baby, to be in my show" lol Sorry, just popped into my head.
10-29-2003, 04:32 PM
That was a very sweet gift! *sigh*
My username is based on the company I work for. (and have you seen Almost Famous? Back in the day I was a uhh...band aid). LOL
10-29-2003, 05:02 PM
i picked fullfig, because i am so full figured. the naming the star was really neat. i have to admit that i am much like kim in practicality. i don't like getting flowers as it seems like a waste of money. supersized can vouch for me. this really is a great question, as i often wonder why people pick the usernames and avatars that they do.
10-29-2003, 06:22 PM
Star: What a great gift and what a thoughtful husband! Does your husband offer lessons for the less-romantic/thoughtful husbands? If so, sign mine up!!
My username is my "rap" name and last name. My college friend and I always joked that we could start a rap group. I was J-Dogg, and she was H-Train. Silly stuff, I know, but the names stuck! The rapping idea, thank goodness, did not. It's not like we even tried to rap, we just wanted to be in a music video!
My name is also my e-mail address @yahoo.com.
10-29-2003, 06:36 PM
StarPrincess, that is a unique gift. Yes, Fullfig is very practical. I like all sorts of gifts. Since I have no significant other I'm forced to treat myself to gifts and bobbles. I like the earrings suggestion.
Fullfig and I picked our names together. I picked Supersized because when I started Atkins I was a "supersized" version of a regular size...kinda like french fries.
10-29-2003, 11:40 PM
I picked mine because my last name is Story - spelled just like Storybook (which is what I say when people ask how it's spelled.) And, I'm very proud of being my daughter's "mama" because when I signed up, she was just a few months old.
So, I became Storybookmama.
Lisa K. Story

My husband (boyfriend at the time) calls me his angel and tells me all the time that he gets lost in my eyes. So....angel-eyes. **sigh** he's sooo romantic. For our 15th wedding anniversary a month ago, he bought me 15 dozen roses and another dozen for the start of our 16th year. **second sigh**....yup he's a keeper!!!
10-30-2003, 01:36 PM
Well I was named froufie (that's the correct spelling by the way - have to use Froufy as the other name was "taken" by me no less...and well you know - it gets too complicted) by then bf (now dh) after Little Rabbit Frou Frou (hopping thru the forest, scooping up the fieldmice and bopping them on the head)...dh's nickname is of course Fieldmouse (or just Mouse for short).
I am in fact partial to bunnies and have pics of them in my office cubicle....unfortunately allergic to them so no pets for me. Even kids call me frouf or froufie sometimes...my car is known as the Froufmobile...and I also collect stuffed bunnies (favorite is a pink one dh gave me when dating - I think for a birthday - which "talks" when you push the tummy and says: "somebunny loves you..."..very cute).
Hence the energizer pink bunny signature (fave color is pink) cuz I keep going and going and going....
As for romantic gifts I just love them! When "courting" I got lots and lots of roses (saved all the little goofy cards) and still get a dozen red roses once in a while (Latest a couple of weeks ago delivered to work cuz I mentioned I was having a bad day! isn't that sweet?).
No stars here (but what a great idea!)...but did buy dh for one of his birthdays a piece of land on the moon! We have the official deed/map and location framed in our upstairs hallway...very unique and funny - (maybe www.moonlandregistry.com ??)
Also have some poetry I wrote for dh framed in our home - a definite favorite (start writing ladies) is something I gave him on our first wedding anniversary: 101 reasons why I love you. Framed in gold frame with burgundy velvet mat - very beautiful (and expensive to frame of course...lol).
Froufie alias Froufy
P.S. Star: my girlfriend and I do believe we were both princesses in a previous life as we do enjoy many chi chi (sp?) things!
10-30-2003, 04:39 PM
Great stories! I want to hear more! :D
10-31-2003, 02:15 AM
I just popped in....I'm brand new to Atkins and saw this thread and it's been fun reading the explanations of the user names. I actually picked this name, gettineasy, when I was trying to quit smoking and hanging out on the message boards at quitnet. I was trying to convince myself that it was "getting easy". It must have worked because I have been smoke free for almost 5 years now! The user name became easy for me to remember so I used it here. I'm hoping that t his weight loss thing might soon be "getting easy", but I doubt it!:)
10-31-2003, 10:51 AM
Hi michelle and welcome!
Good job on being smoke free - that is a great step towards improving your health!
As for Atkins - it is pretty easy - altho it does have its challenges sometimes......and it will get easy as well.
Good luck and feel free to join in!
10-31-2003, 11:58 AM
It's my sweet little female chihuahua's name.I have 2 , a black and white male and a fawn female.
10-31-2003, 12:07 PM
You don't want to know!
10-31-2003, 12:24 PM
Gettineasy - welcome! Really, once you get past the first week or two, this is pretty easy. Who needs cake when you can have bacon? :ink:
Bella - fellow chihuahua owner! I have two as well - both males - named Paco (looks like a little rottweiler) and Cody (looks like a little boston terrier)
Ruth - No fair!!!!! I wanna know! ;)
10-31-2003, 01:15 PM
Do tell Ruth. Were you a XXX porn star at some point in your life????
11-03-2003, 08:30 PM
My kids chose my name as I am mad on tulips , they buy them for me at every opportunity.
As for the fairy bit............I don't know as I am so NOT fairy like!!!!!
But i've had this username for ages now and it stuck......friends and kids alike all call me Tulip!!
Great thread.....the romantic gifts from DH's are soooooo ***sigh*** thoughtfull although the practical gifts are more my style, however for my 13th wedding anniversary present hubby bought me my very own mary quant mini which was fantastic - 13 years without as much as a card then BAM a car!!!! He got a great big kiss for that one, i can tell you!!
11-04-2003, 11:43 AM
well my name isnt really that exciting as some of yours but i picked the name because of a couple reasons..one is the most obvious.. I am a nurse so nursenicki ..but some of my friends and i would joke about porn names and they said they could see it now"Naughty Nightnurse Nicki" lol..yeah right! not ina million years I say!! and the 069 ...well..you get the picture!!!
11-04-2003, 02:16 PM
Hi. Sonnet means little poem. I've always love the name. :D
11-04-2003, 02:28 PM
I am the most boring person that ever lived:sorry:
Mine is just my first name and my date of birth. How dull. I don't have a cute nickname, I don't have a pet (my avatar is my Mom's dog who I adore) and I certainly never got a star named after me....not my husband....HE is the practical one.
Kim: we have a rule in our house.......no appliances as gifts unless we ask for one.
Last year my husband thought he was being cute and actually bought a toaster for me for Christmas. I just looked at him and said "you have to be kidding". He just kept laughing. (He had also bought me a new ring but he was saving that for last) It actually is funny now that when people come over they actually remark on how fancy our toaster looks and then when I tell them it was a Christmas present ....well it just makes us laugh.
11-04-2003, 04:29 PM
Well, usually I like to use a screen name like CountryGirl or something like that (since I grew up on a farm and it's my little way of 'remembering my roots') ... however, that name was not available, so I took Lekker.
Lekker is a Dutch word that means 'appetizing' or 'lovely' or 'tasty' or something like that. You might use it when referring to a tasty food. But you don't only have to use it to describe food ... you can use it describe weather, beer, guys etc ... :) It was one of my favourite words - still is!
Why am I using a Dutch word? Well, I did an exchange to the Netherlands for a year and I loved it - the people, the country, everything!
Notice my extra-large klompen (wooden shoes) in my avatar!
11-04-2003, 04:37 PM
I was wondering about your big feet? ha ha :):) ...very cool shoes, but bet you can't jog in them?
I like the sound of "lekker" too.....in jewish the word "lek"means taste....like I want a taste/lek of that chocolate cheesecake!

Bet she's not good to dance with either!!!! lol
 ... well, it makes doing the can-can a little tough! ;)
Actually, I do have some wooden shoes that are a normal sized (just a *little* bit too big for me, which were a gift from my Dutch housemates). I don't ever wear them, but I saw a few old Dutch men wearing them around the markets when I was in the Netherlands!

Howdy superwomen! My screen name is kinda boring. It's Jam (jamie) Lin (middle name) Rich (maiden name Richards) but how I got my real name is kind of funny. I was supposed to be named Heather. My dad had a huge crush on the bionic woman at the time whose name was Jaime Summers and my mom's maiden name was Summers so when my passed out after giving birth my dad filled out the paper work and turned it in. Boy was he in trouble.
In regards to dh and gifts, sadly enough my husband is gift imagination challenged. I usually end up getting my own gift and showing him what he got me. I know that sounds terrible but it is a glad trade for his trustworthiness and unfailing love for me. I have been cheated on many times by men who bought me lovely things so I love him just the way he is, warts and all.
I was wondering how you all learned how to do all this stuff with smileys and avatars and how to list your weights and quotes on the bottom of your messages. I have no idea how to do all that.
Can you help?
11-05-2003, 03:17 AM
Brandi, These are all great stories, and I love yours too. I have always wanted to give a star as a gift...and get one for myself, of course. LOL Barbie
11-05-2003, 05:30 AM
Mine is so boring. I always use the same name on all sites, so I don't forget who I am. barbmarie = Barbara Marie. Betcha couldn't guess;)
11-05-2003, 11:16 AM
Mine is boring too! My name and Last initial! LOL!
I love your star story Brandi! My Aunt gave me a star when I was about 11 or 12. I thought that was the neatest thing!! :) I need to find all that stuff... and have it framed.
I have other user names else where though,, WA MIATA MOM... FOr my Miata Club forums, CROCHET LEGACY, The name of my business... That is a whole story in itself... in a nutshell, I named my business crochet legacy because My grnadmother taught me to crochet and she told me to do something with it. (I dont think she meant to have a business.. but that is what I did) Crochet is the legacy she left me... some day I will post the whole story.. cant right now as I am hoping it will run in a Crochet Newsletter soon!
Oh WABonJoviMom, for the Bon Jovi Forums!
11-05-2003, 11:48 AM
Okay so where does one get a "star"?.....thinking this might be a good gift for some people on my list.....any ideas?
11-05-2003, 12:24 PM
So there's actually an International Star Registry. You can find them online. I've never gone to the website because I don't want to know what he paid. ;)
I do have to tell you he gave me the funniest gift for my birthday this year. When I'm asked what I want as a gift, I try to come up with something completely impossible, because I like the surprise and the thought that comes from the giver. So this year, when he asked what i wanted for my birthday, I gave my most princess-like sigh, and said "diamonds" and walked away.
So on my birthday, this man gives me a 1650 karat genuine synthetic lavendar "diamond". I laughed my *** off! The thing was bigger than my fist and was so unique and perfect that I promised to keep him around for at least another year just to see what he does next.
11-05-2003, 10:09 PM
Jamlinrich, your name story is too funny! If you haven't figured out the avatars and text at bottom of message send me a PM. I'll be glad to help.
StarPrincess, you're guy sounds like a sweetie with a great sense of humor.
11-08-2003, 10:28 PM
I can vouch that Brandi's husband is one of the greatest men on the face of the earth. Can you imagine having a best friend who is insanely gorgeous AND married to a real catch!! Nerve wracking I tell ya! :D
My name is kinda silly. One day while shoe shopping for my 4 year old son, he saw some little white tennis shoes with the superman emblem on the side. He begged me to buy them for myself. He told me that I needed those "supermom" shoes. I ended up buying them, and whenever I am feeling down, I slip them on and feel instantly better! The other day, I found underwear with the superman logo on them, and of course, I had to buy them. Now I secretly feel empowered every time I wear them! Hehehe...Anyway...So that's where the super girl part comes from, and the rulesdaworld...well I had to come up with something that would top my darling little Star Princess....hehehe as we are in constant competition....:D :D
02-20-2004, 03:41 PM
Since we have so many new people with interesting new names, I though I'd bump this back to the top :D
02-20-2004, 04:33 PM
This is a very cool thread Star and I just love how you got your name. If DH did something like that for me I'd fall over in a dead faint
Mine is quite simple and boring.. I'm Traci .. hence Trazzie
02-20-2004, 04:50 PM
ok, surpriseeeeeeeeee! my name is Cathy. When we had to re-register at 3fc many years ago, someone had already taken my name, so I had to think of something to add to it. At the time we were chatting in the chatroom at lot. Ruth had xxx behind her name and that sounded good to me, but I never stopped to think (bec I was in a hurry to get into the chatroom lol) that people would think that it either meant that I wore a triple x size clothing or that I was rated triple x! very thankfully I am neither of those things!!!!
02-20-2004, 05:14 PM
These revelations are just too much fun! I'm SPEDMOM because I'm a special education teacher and a mom. These are the two things that help define my life and make me the wacky and somewhat neurotic person I am!
02-20-2004, 07:29 PM
I started chatting like 4 years ago--couldn't think of a good nickname so I just reversed my name (Brenda/adnerb). After a while I just started tacking "lady" onto it so that idgets online would quit hitting on me and treat me like one. :D Did I mention I'm a tad dyslexic? lol
02-20-2004, 07:44 PM
Well mine has something to do with my significant other as well. Quite simply he is obsessed with my tummy, belly button, whole abdominal region. Ever since we started dating he just thinks it's the sexiest thing in the world. So it came from my desire to love the darn thing as much as he did regardless of how big or small it was. And I had a brief affair with belly dancing too. And well the girl part, just a very girly girl so it's fairly self explanatory. Ty star for bringing this back up to the top for us.
02-21-2004, 12:18 AM
Lixue is a chinese name, and it means "beautiful snow". I just thought it was really pretty and have been using it for awhile now here and other places too. and a tiger as my avatar because tigers are my favorite animals.
02-21-2004, 11:44 AM
Well my name comes from of course being on Atkins and since the website is 3fatchicks.com, I decided I was just another fat chick too. So, hence, AtkinsChick. :p
02-23-2004, 12:57 PM
Mine stems from two reasons...
First, I love my hips, honestly! I'm a hippy chick. I totally love being curvy with prominent hips. It makes me feel sexy...and I have maintained an hour glass shape even at my top weight. :)
Second, I am a history grad student and obsessed with the '60s. If born 30 years earlier, I would have been a hippie :flow1:... can you dig it??? :joker:
77 is my birth year...
02-23-2004, 11:10 PM
Mine stems from a period of time a couple years ago when I first moved to Rockford and didn't know anyone.... I developed quite the "chat life". I a nicname for a while that didn't really suit me and I wanted something that would be kind of unique and catch the eye..... hence I came up with Shimmer. However, Shimmer was apparently already taken on 3FC (so much for unique, eh?) so I went to Shimma which is what one of my online buds used to call me (Actually it was ShimmaShimma Coco Puff but.... that was much too long)
02-24-2004, 03:25 PM
Interesting how we come up with names, huh? :D
02-24-2004, 04:45 PM
Boring boring boring me.
My real name is Kim. My parents called me Kimmy, until the day they died (not long ago, but I was ahem.. over 30)..
Nobody calls me that anymore,so I get a little smile everytime I see the word in print.
Unfortunately, someone else had Kimmy, so I went with first initial, last name.
Anyone asleep yet?
05-07-2004, 06:15 PM
We've got some new names I'd like to understand so I'm bumping this up ;)
05-07-2004, 06:43 PM
Just explained this yesterday in another thread.
I'm a Mortician/Funeral Director. When my boyfriend and I started going together he would introduce me to everyone as Morticia. It was really funny because even though some knew what I did for a living, they never figured out it was a joke until one day he called me by my name, which is Laura. Some figured it out when they finally found out my profession.
My sister hosts a chatroom on another site and I always went in there as Morticia. Over the course of time, it got shortened to Morti.
05-08-2004, 07:15 PM
Mine is a nickname that my husband's friends gave him - FON are the first three letters of our last name - and I thought it would be a cute user name, so I stole it! :)
10-04-2011, 05:19 PM
I'm bumping this thread -- because I'd love to know how she got her name, as well as how others came by theirs. Do you hear me 2ride? Wuv? PaintedLady? I could go on. . . .
10-05-2011, 12:28 AM
I'm Canadian and I am a woman (and I have no imagination. LOL!) :)
10-05-2011, 11:08 AM
I've been "dietcokehead98" since 1997. It was my first username for email back in the day. I wanted just "dietcokehead" but it was taken.
It comes from two things; my love of diet coke (I love you!) and the movie "Heathers".
10-07-2011, 05:41 PM
I picked mine because I was born on Galveston Island, TX. I am an avid beachy kinda person and love all ocean related water sports. Surfing has always been my thing, but when you get fat it's hard to keep your balance  plus you just don't look very flattering in a surf suit :D. Soooo I'm working on it :)
10-09-2011, 06:49 PM
After several attemps to come up with something clever and having that name yet again already in use I yelled out are you kidding me! And then I though why not and low and behold no one had it!!! Lame I know.
