  • Hi Ladies,
I just popped in....I'm brand new to Atkins and saw this thread and it's been fun reading the explanations of the user names. I actually picked this name, gettineasy, when I was trying to quit smoking and hanging out on the message boards at quitnet. I was trying to convince myself that it was "getting easy". It must have worked because I have been smoke free for almost 5 years now! The user name became easy for me to remember so I used it here. I'm hoping that t his weight loss thing might soon be "getting easy", but I doubt it!

  • Hi michelle and welcome!

Good job on being smoke free - that is a great step towards improving your health!

As for Atkins - it is pretty easy - altho it does have its challenges sometimes......and it will get easy as well.

Good luck and feel free to join in!

  • It's my sweet little female chihuahua's name.I have 2 , a black and white male and a fawn female.
  • You don't want to know!
  • Gettineasy - welcome! Really, once you get past the first week or two, this is pretty easy. Who needs cake when you can have bacon?

Bella - fellow chihuahua owner! I have two as well - both males - named Paco (looks like a little rottweiler) and Cody (looks like a little boston terrier)

Ruth - No fair!!!!! I wanna know!
  • Do tell Ruth. Were you a XXX porn star at some point in your life????
  • Tulip-Fairy!
My kids chose my name as I am mad on tulips , they buy them for me at every opportunity.
As for the fairy bit............I don't know as I am so NOT fairy like!!!!!
But i've had this username for ages now and it stuck......friends and kids alike all call me Tulip!!

Great thread.....the romantic gifts from DH's are soooooo ***sigh*** thoughtfull although the practical gifts are more my style, however for my 13th wedding anniversary present hubby bought me my very own mary quant mini which was fantastic - 13 years without as much as a card then BAM a car!!!! He got a great big kiss for that one, i can tell you!!
  • well my name isnt really that exciting as some of yours but i picked the name because of a couple reasons..one is the most obvious.. I am a nurse so nursenicki ..but some of my friends and i would joke about porn names and they said they could see it now"Naughty Nightnurse Nicki" lol..yeah right! not ina million years I say!! and the 069 ...well..you get the picture!!!
  • Hi. Sonnet means little poem. I've always love the name.
  • I am the most boring person that ever lived

Mine is just my first name and my date of birth. How dull. I don't have a cute nickname, I don't have a pet (my avatar is my Mom's dog who I adore) and I certainly never got a star named after me....not my husband....HE is the practical one.

Kim: we have a rule in our house.......no appliances as gifts unless we ask for one.

Last year my husband thought he was being cute and actually bought a toaster for me for Christmas. I just looked at him and said "you have to be kidding". He just kept laughing. (He had also bought me a new ring but he was saving that for last) It actually is funny now that when people come over they actually remark on how fancy our toaster looks and then when I tell them it was a Christmas present ....well it just makes us laugh.
  • Well, usually I like to use a screen name like CountryGirl or something like that (since I grew up on a farm and it's my little way of 'remembering my roots') ... however, that name was not available, so I took Lekker.

Lekker is a Dutch word that means 'appetizing' or 'lovely' or 'tasty' or something like that. You might use it when referring to a tasty food. But you don't only have to use it to describe food ... you can use it describe weather, beer, guys etc ... It was one of my favourite words - still is!

Why am I using a Dutch word? Well, I did an exchange to the Netherlands for a year and I loved it - the people, the country, everything!

Notice my extra-large klompen (wooden shoes) in my avatar!
  • I was wondering about your big feet? ha ha ...very cool shoes, but bet you can't jog in them?

I like the sound of "lekker" too.....in jewish the word "lek"means taste....like I want a taste/lek of that chocolate cheesecake!

... well, it makes doing the can-can a little tough!

Actually, I do have some wooden shoes that are a normal sized (just a *little* bit too big for me, which were a gift from my Dutch housemates). I don't ever wear them, but I saw a few old Dutch men wearing them around the markets when I was in the Netherlands!
  • Howdy superwomen! My screen name is kinda boring. It's Jam (jamie) Lin (middle name) Rich (maiden name Richards) but how I got my real name is kind of funny. I was supposed to be named Heather. My dad had a huge crush on the bionic woman at the time whose name was Jaime Summers and my mom's maiden name was Summers so when my passed out after giving birth my dad filled out the paper work and turned it in. Boy was he in trouble.
In regards to dh and gifts, sadly enough my husband is gift imagination challenged. I usually end up getting my own gift and showing him what he got me. I know that sounds terrible but it is a glad trade for his trustworthiness and unfailing love for me. I have been cheated on many times by men who bought me lovely things so I love him just the way he is, warts and all.

I was wondering how you all learned how to do all this stuff with smileys and avatars and how to list your weights and quotes on the bottom of your messages. I have no idea how to do all that.
    Can you help?
