Goal! - 35 LBS in less than 3 months GOAL!

I was 140lbs at the end of May. My weight loss journey began in June 2011. Originally, I just wanted to be 110, I pushed myself a little more and now I am 105. My next goal is to get my old body back, at 95lbs. I'm still 10 lbs away from that, but I already am feeling healthier and even if I dont lose anymore, I'm happy where I am at now.

That's 140-120-110, I haven't taken another photo with the same outfit with my current weight, I'll probably wait till I get to 100lbs or my new goal of 95lbs. :) But to give you an idea of where I am at now, I can rock a pair of skinny jeans SIZE ZERO. :)

Update February 5th 2014

I cant believe its been almost three years since I made this post. So many things have changed wth my priorities and my personal life. Just a month after I made this post, I went to Vegas and got married. :) My weight was up and down the next two years after losing 35lbs, I'd gain 10, lose 5, gain another 10, lose another 5, lose 10, gain 5.. well, you get the picture. Until Summer last year, I decided this cant continue to happen. Either I take full control of myself or let myself go one more time which should NOT at all be an option.

In June 2013, I was up again to 124lbs. I looked at the mirror and told myself that this cant happen again. So slowly, I started cutting back on junk food. I became more active again. I walked. I ran. Then in July, I decided to try YOGA. And this is one of the best decisions I've made for myself. I have been going everyday, well, almost everyday. I skipped when I went for holidays in December and when I have other appointments I couldn't cancel. :)

Then the husband and I got gym memberships. I started incorporating weights with my exercise regimen and attend the gym Zumba. By November, I was back to my 105lbs healthy weight. I lost a few more before I started gaining muscle weight. I went down to close to 100, then gained about 3-4lbs of muscle weight. I could tell the difference in my body from my 105lbs 3 years ago, to my 103lbs now in 2014.

Weight loss is a tough road. It takes patience and dedication. I am loving my life more now. I want to be healthy not only for myself but for my family, for my friends and especially for my husband. When I first lost all the weight, ALL i wanted was to be skinny. That was my goal. I realized that's exactly why I fail myself everytime. The goal should be TO BE HEALTHY. Looking good is the bonus but the ultimate reward is my health. Not only do I feel good about myself. I feel strong. And very confident. And now here's an updated photo of my journey. :)

FatNoMore03
08-22-2011, 03:26 PM
No. I did it all on my own just by eating healthier and being more pro-active. I joined Zumba and I go 2 times a week, I also do cardio everyday without fail for at least 4-6 miles. Every now and then I give in to my cravings (i.e ice cream or chips or cake :) but I make sure I practice portion control.)

Way to go! If you don't mind me asking - what sizes did you wear at each point (if you remember)?

At my heaviest, I started wearing jeans that were size 7/8, when they stopped fitting, I wore sweat pants LOL, I am now back to wearing XS (sometimes XXS) tops & dresses and size 0 (size 1 on some brands) for pants and shorts and skirts. :)

Woah! I have to tell you, I've never seen a featherweight lose at that quick of a pace. Congrats!

I was determined to lose it. Doctor's order as well. :) I would have probably lose the weight a little faster if I totally walked away from ice cream and chips LOL but some habits are hard to break.

THANKS EVERYONE!

Wow congrats you look fantastic! And in such a short time too! That's great!

May I ask you to give me an kind of example of what you'd normally eat? My exercise is about the same amount as yours (cardio everyday and strength on alternate days).

But I'm always looking for improvements for my diet!

But I'm always looking for improvements for my diet!

I dont really count calories religiously like others. I dont think I'd live with just consuming 1200 cals a day. It varies. Some days I like to eat a little more, some days, I eat just what I feel like eating (but I never ever starve myself).

Some mornings, I eat fruits for breakfast (7am). A cup of cherries, half a cup of blueberries and half a cup of grapes (sometimes, banana, apple.. etc). With a glass of water, this makes me feel really full and I dont feel hungry until a couple hours later to which I snack on yogurt and carrots.

Other days I eat 2 pcs of whole wheat bread and a fried egg. Or an egg salad wrap, then have fruits for morning snacks.

For lunch, I either have salad, or soup or peanut butter sandwich or tuna sandwich (whole wheat) Then I snack on veggies (carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, etc) the rest of the day.

For dinner, I gave up rice. Which is the hardest thing I ever had to give up. I AM ASIAN. And its pretty much suicide to walk away from rice LOL. I eat veggies and meat. If we eat out, I make sure to remember PORTION CONTROL. I dont over eat. If I did, I make sure I add some more treadmill time when I get home. :)

I still eat chips and ice cream and cake. But not everyday. Maybe once or twice a week. But I always buy the snack size for chips. For ice cream, I buy the smallest one. Its ok to give in to your cravings, but you have to develop a strong sense of self control not to over eat. :)

I run every night for 4-6 miles, I also do Zumba twice a week and during those days, I make sure I run at least 3 miles. I dont let myself get lazy to run. I know if I skip one day, it'll be easier for myself to say I'll skip another.. and another and another... :) Its a mental battle y'know.

Oh and yeah, I DRINK LOTS OF WATER. 3-4L a day. I need it because I sweat a lot when I run or dance. :)
Good luck!

No, I didnt do any weight training but if you count the 3lbs toning bar i use on both hands while I walk sometimes as weight training, then maybe I did :) . I just do cardio on the treadmill and twice a week Zumba. I just eat less than I did before (I was such a little piggy before, I will eat more than my husband who is twice my size!) and of course, I ate halthier. Even when I go out, I make healthy food choices. I stay away from greasy food and I prefer veggies and meat or fish. :)

However, I cant give up my sweet tooth. Every week, I still eat ice cream. :) and I get a cookie everday.

140 pounds is fat? Where have I been hiding?

1) this thread is rather old

2) yes, 140lbs is overweight for someone 5' tall, especially someone with a small frame who doesn't lift weights.

A friend who is only 1" shorter than I am won't believe my weight just like I find hers hard to believe. A good weight for each of us is at least 15lbs apart.

Thank you for this. We're all different and too much weight is too much weight. My friends tell me I'm fine - my doctor and my naturopath say less weight would be better. 40-50 lbs would be ideal. I've been lighter, but I was younger, so I'm adjusting for my age.

I'm short and small-boned. And a photo of my from behind tells me that my friends are being kind.

140lbs would be considered obese for me. The OP is really short too so yeah, totally different than being closer to average height.

Congrats you look amazing! You are such an inspiration to me because I started out at the same weight as you were, am of similar height AND I'm Asian too (therefore I agree that going without rice is suicide haha)

I haven't been doing very well. I lost 8 pounds in my first month and ended up spending the next two falling off the wagon and getting back up again. And then repeating it again. It's april and seeing this really motivates me to kickstart the weight loss again. maintaining isn't good enough at my current weight!

I just wanted to know if you had any falling-off-wagon periods and how you dealt with it? I feel like I'm fighting a daily battle against the urgeto overeat!

Congrats once again!!

So it has been a year since I started my weight loss journey. Met my original goal of 105lbs before Christmas, gained a a few back during the holidays. I am currently now just maintaining all the lbs I've lost.

It is not an easy road. It never will be as there will always be factor that can and will make maintaning the weight a struggle. But if you are focused and determined, its manageable.

And to answer someone's question about 140lbs being fat, well, :) for a barely 5 ft tall lady like myself, it is. I was round everywhere. I was 85-90 lbs most of my teenage years, and my early adulthood, but when I met my now husband, I started putting on weight. So a 50-55lbs addition to my "normal" weight was hard for my body.

The hardest part is the "wait". The wait for everything to shrink back to their normal size. Even after I lost all the weight, my arms took almost a year to shrink.

Good luck to everyone and dont let go of your goal. I used to recite the DONT QUIT POEM to myself when I was feeling down and felt like giving up.. Y'all can do it. :)

Way to go. And thanks for sharing the tidbit about skin shrinkage. That is scary for me to think about but at least I know that maybe I will be able to wear a 2 piece one day. I've been told keeping it off is way harder than losing it.

sluggo88, I just cut down on junk food and ate a little healthier. I dont count calories. I eat what my body needs. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week, go to zumba 1-2 times a week and I go to hot yoga everyday. Also, when at home and not able to go to the gym (when temp is -30C or below), I have a pull up bar on the door way and my treadmill. :)

FatNoMore03

Yes, less junkfood. I stopped counting calories a long time ago. My health and my family are my biggest motivation. Just 4 days ago, the husband and I decided to do a 30day Paleo challenge. Not to lose weight, but to detox ourselves from the processed food, basically to make us healthier. And so far, we both are doing well with the challenge. :)
