How to Start a Daily Thread in IP

Written by Chloe222 and stickied by request of IP users.

1. Go to the IP Forum home page which lists all the threads. Look under "User CP" (which is what you click on to manage your ticker, signature, etc.).
2. Note right under it is a box which says "New Thread". Click on it and a new thread box shows up.
3. You must put in a title. HOWEVER, if you make a typo in the title, you can only correct it BEFORE you hit "submit". If you need to make a correction, contact a "moderator" to fix it.
4. Copy and paste the intro message for the "Daily Chat" into the box.
Hit submit, done!
5. BUT you also need to close the thread the next day - so you go to that open thread, look for "Thread Tools" at the top of the thread. Click on it, see a drop down and at the bottom is an option to "close". Be sure to close it.

Hi all! I'm new to the forums (first time writing in a forum about anything), and just completed week 2 of IP. I've been finding that I'm feeling way more hungry in the last couple days than I did in the first 2 weeks. I've been following the protocol really carefully and have had good losses, but don't understand why I'm feeling more hungry now than at the beginning. Any insights or encouragement would be appreciated!

Also, not sure if I'm even posting this in the proper place, there seems to be so many threads, I wasn't sure where to start.

You will find the most support in the Daily thread, its the one most people view and comment in. Make sure you are keeping veggies cut up and in reach at all times to snack on. Chew gum (if allowed by your coach) to help with the hunger. Drink more water or eat a salad since Lettuce is unlimited, You just have to distract yourself because its more than likely boredom more than hunger :)

I don't think chewing gum on the protocol is good. The FDA allows the makers to say sugar free when that actually have a some amount of sugar in. In addition to that, when you chew gum, you secrete saliva and then the stomach may secrete gastric fluids and this get the stomach to prepare for food to be digested. When there is no food that comes you get hungry. And the cycle starts...chew gum...hungry...chew more gum...more hunger pains....more gum...more sugar...less ketosis.

To each is own, but I have loss over 184lbs, and I have chewed gum since day one. My coach allows it so there for I did it. Everyone is different, chewing gum helped me stay on program, that is all I am suggesting. I did say "if your coach allows you", every clinic is different and has different things they allow, do what works for YOU, This is YOUR journey..that is all I am saying

I tried the Lemon Tofu Pudding and thought it was pretty good. If I used the IP vanilla pudding instead of the protein powder it calls for, would it make it more IP friendly. How much of a change would it make?
Thanks,

Yes - you need every calorie you are supposed to get on IP. If you don't have an appetite try sticking to the drink mixes which may not be as filling as some of the other foods. You can also try breaking up your dinner protein if having it all at once is too much. But make sure you get everything in, every day.

Lost 40 pounds before IP (April - July) then started IP in August. Lost an additional 25 pounds on IP. Totally bombed these past 4 weeks by cheating off and on........ Its so tough during the holidays. Although I did not gain the weight back, I have not lost anymore weight. So now I am kicking myself as I get back on track starting with today and will endure the struggles of cravings.... BOO ME!!:?:

Hello all. I was doing ideal protein for about two months now. It became too expensive for me so I've been trying at making my own high protein/low carb meals. I just made a bowl of oatmeal and it tasted great!! Here's what I did:

1 1/2 scoops of SOY protein powder
A pinch of Stevia
1 1/2 tsp quick oats (you can use up to a tablespoon if you'd like)
6 oz hot water
A dollop of Walden Farms regular pancake syrup.

How to prepare:
Mix all ingredients together in bowl until combined. Drizzle some Walden Farms pancake syrup on the top, mix in, and eat!

It's delicious and very low on carbs...and WAAAAAAAy cheaper. :dizzy:

I'm getting kind of discouraged, in the last two weeks I have only lost 2.4 pounds, but overall I have lost 24.5 inches. Why isn't the weight coming off?. I have been on IP for almost 5 weeks. Pounds lost is only 8. What am I doing wrong? My husband is on it with me, he has lost10 pounds in just the last two weeks but not as many inches.:dizzy:

You may want to post this question in the Daily thread, you will get more responses there :)

Two things offhand to remember though:
- Week 4/5 can often be a "slowdown week", and how quickly you lose can be greatly affected by how MUCH you have to lose and your body type.

- Men lose at a TOTALLY different rate than women, so you cannot compare his losses to yours. Our bodies are like apples and oranges.

hello everyone,
i know the answer is probably here somewhere but i cant find it, so here it is:
I have been on IP for about 2 weeks and doing really well, BUT, I have thrown up twice now, both times in the morning. The first time i had taken my vitamins without eating , and my coach said that was why. but this time i hadn't taken my vitamins yet, I had only been awake for about 20 mins, so hadn't eaten yet. Has anyone had this before and can anyone give me any insight, I'm trying to stay dedicated, but this is making it very hard.

The vitamins made me queasy a few times on an empty stomach so I split them up after some trial and error so try worked for me. Not sure why the other sickness. I hope you get some more feedback. Could you be pregnant?

Here are the IP Alternative Plan sheets for diabetics and others for which it has been determined that regular IP is not an option, due to health reasons (kidney, liver function or other reasons why ketosis would be dangerous). All four phases are included.

Many thanks to Ragdoll74 for her research and for posting these!

For newcomers, this is DIFFERENT than using alternative products. Please refer to alternatives thread for more info on alternative products

Please also note these sheets are old. The meat portion is now 8 oz and select veggies have changed. Please refer to the newest P1 protocol to update the changes.

Hey wuv,
I just recently started IP 2weeks ago and have been reading through some of the recipes here. I'm asking you these questions because you are an expert!
First, are egg whites really ok? Fat free chicken broth? My coach says no, and a lot of the recipes call for them. Any advice you have would be great! I just get a little bored with the food already, or the taste, not really sure. Oh, and I watched some of your videos, what is cake in a bug? I'm just afraid to trust a recipe, and have it affect my loss.
Thanks so much, and you look amazing!

You will get more responses if you post questions in the Daily chat threads, more people visit there!

But to answer your question, diet soda is NOT recommended when you are on IP. Even though it is 0 calories and 0 carbs/0 sugar, diet soda contains sodium (not the same as the sea salt we are supposed to have) and phosphates which are not good for your body and can throw off the pH balance in your digestive system. Also many diet sodas are sweetened with aspartame, which should be avoided as well.

Today is my first day on this forum as well!! I have been checking it out for the last few days and find myself drawn to it daily now!! So happy to have found it! My coach gave me the "OK" to have 1 diet soda per day. I have been drinking one per day ever since and have not seen a difference on the scale. I guess that would be up to you and your coach to decide which is best for you. I say go for it, I look forward to it every afternoon:)

I'm sure that I'm not posting in the correct place, but I have "searched" the threads, read all the newbie info and stickys, and this seems so basic that I know it's got to be here somewhere ... I am simply looking for the most up-to-date (2013) nutritional info sheet for the IP products. I've come across a few of these sheets posted in various places, but none of them are dated, and many of them contain differing nutritional info for the same item. I'm trying to base some food choices on the nutritional info, but if I'm looking at a sheet from 2010 with inaccurate figures, then that's not really doing me any good. THANKS SO MUCH for any replies ... and of course for ALL the info provided on this site, as it is all so useful and appreciated!!

Started Friday. Today day #3. Feel weak, tired, listless. Doing IP Plan perfectly. Last night had top sirloin steak, broccoli, salad.
No sooner had I consumed it all, sorry to be graphic, I projectile vomited.
Is this unheard of? Later on in the evening I did have an IP pudding and kept it down. I was able to get my vitamins down as well.
Will this pass?

Mel, friendly pointer ( it took me a while to catch on to how to use these IP threads.). This particular thread is like a filing cabinet for basic information about the ip programme and its protocols. As such, it is not meant for discussion. The "daily threads" are the place for discussion and questions (Lisa posts a new one of these every weekday and one for every weekend.). If you let your question there, you will get lots of replies.

I'll 'bump' this weekend's thread for you so that you can easily find it when you click on 'New Posts.'

Is it ok to cook a beef roast in the crockpot along with the veggies? Not sure if the veggies will soak up too much fat???

Faylene,

Welcome. If I were you I would do IP again instead of surgery. I had lap band about 5 years ago and I never lost all the weight. I have lost a little over 1/2 the weight i want too (and lower than the lowest after the band). But that is my opinion. Did you go through all 4 phases last time you did IP? Maybe this time would be the difference.

Best of luck. You'll find great support here.

For some folks threads run up to 24 pages. Here's how to fix that.

To fix:
1. Go to User CP
2. Select Edit Options
3. Scroll down to Number of Posts to Show Per Page
4. Select Show 40 Posts per Page
5. Remember to Save Changes

If you are new to Ideal Protein go here to see the entire IP sub-forum (rather than posing in this informational thread). http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/ideal-protein-diet-236/

This is a FAQ. The place to ask questions is in the threads below. The daily (weekend) chat has info in the first post about trackers.

Hi everyone, i am new to these forms. I am on week 5, years ago i had a gastric bypass; of course i didn't do what the Doc said so now i am trying IP Diet due to my smaller stomach, i am having a hard time eating 4 cups veggies and 8 ounces protein everyday, is anyone having the same issue.

Hi Grizz - I know you posted ages ago, but hopefully you're still on here. I haven't even started IP yet (next Tuesday!), but I saw your post and thought I might be able to help a little bit. I have a condition called gastroparesis, where the stomach takes longer than it should to empty. As such, I have a hard time eating lots of veggies, because they are so high in fiber they are hard to digest, which is even MORE work for my poor broken tummy. I'd check out the Fun with Veggie Purees (http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/ideal-protein-diet/264231-fun-veggie-purees.html) thread. Pureed veggies will empty from your stomach faster since some of the work of digestion is done before you even put them in your mouth. I hope that helps!

Be sure to use the Phase 3 protocol and the Explanation of Phase 3, which is very detailed!

Thanx so much Lisa.
