View Full Version : 15 pounds in July!

Friday marks a whole new month, and June was a let down for me, I only have 9 weeks till my holiday and need a kick of motivation, 15 pounds would be amazing! This means it would be about 3 pounds a week which is tough and I could do with some tips for getting through the day with a calorie limit but it is definately doable! Weigh day is on Mondays or Tuesdays to make the weekend temptations go away, but I might weigh in every few days!

Starting weight: 179

I'd love to join. Maybe a challenge is just what I need to kick-start my weight loss efforts! It will certainly help with the accountability! Part of me feels I shouldn't weigh in during the challenge just so I can be surprised at the end of it, but we'll see how I feel.

Starting weight: 350

Hey guys, may I join too? It seems that whenever I am *not* doing a 3FC challenge, I gain weight..hmmm lol. I guess my official weigh in day will be Tuesdays :). But I'll probably update my weight throughout the week as well, just to keep things in perspective. Good luck!

15lbs is my goal for July so I will definitely join you ladies. June hasn't been horrible, but I was on vacation for almost two weeks and wasn't super strict. August I'm going on vacation for another couple weeks so I really want to make July count.

I eat on an IF schedule, 1200-1600 calories, 50-75 net carbs. 100+oz of water. I plan on keeping that up and I really want to go for it with my exercise. I'm going to do the 30 day shred, bike, and an assortment of other workout dvds. I'm also giving myself a personal challenge. I love chocolate and I've really cut back on it since eating healthy, but for July I'm even going to cut out the healthier chocolate treats I've been having. One month, no chocolate. That will be BIG for me if I make it. =)

Virgo, when I got back on track at the beginning of March I decided to stay off the scale for the whole month. I was trying to concur my obsession with the scale. When I weighed again on April 1st I was down 14.4lbs. It's definitely worth it to see that big change. Now I only weigh on the 1st and 15th every month.

I'll have to wait and see what my starting weight is on the 1st.

Ok guys weigh in when you like but I find that Tuesdays will hold yourself more accountable at the weekend! We can do this! :)

TooManyDimples I might just join you with that IF challenge, what window do you use?

VirgoChic
06-28-2011, 12:20 PM
I really want to look more into IF because it seems like something that more closely mimics the way I like to eat. Right now I'm doing Weight Watchers though. Maybe there's a way I can incorporate the two lol For now I'll just do regular Weight Watchers though!

Good luck everyone!

Give IF a go following weight watchers too! All you need to do is eat the food between certain eating windows and you will find your appetite may decrease over time! I loved it when I first started, but the more I diet the harder it became, I'm really hoping to get back into it!

My window is 2pm to 8pm.

Virgo you can definitely do WW and IF at the same time. I love it because I always hated the theory that you had to eat a bunch of smaller meals every few hours to keep your metabolism going. Not true, so why do it if it isn't your thing? I'm much happier on my schedule.

I'm gonna try to incorporate IF into my WW program maybe after a month of just trying WW. I think it's best for me to stick to one thing for now other than trying to do too many things at once - I have a habit of constantly looking for "newer and better" things and I never actually get started because I'm in a state of constant planning to do things, if that makes sense. I also figure it may be best if I weigh myself weekly so I can adjust my points according to my weight. I noticed just a 5 pound loss or gain can add or subtract a point in my daily value so I need to keep close track of my weight.

I'll get my official July starting weight on Friday and start posting my weekly weights on Tuesdays with you girls! Thanks for getting this started Blondie, and good luck to everyone!! :D

Oh, and game on lol

I'm in!

I am currently 6 days into an IF eating plan. I have been having a lot of trouble with exercise so this challenge should really kick my into high gear. I would like to start running again but should probably start with baby steps. I will be doing a walk run schedule and workout DVD's to get me there.

My start weight today is 205. 190 is my end goal for the challenge. That will put me pretty solidly in onederland and only 10 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight.

Here we go!

Blondie160

Yay! Hi AmberJae! I have the Zumba cardio party DVD and i love it, it is a great workout!

Blondie, A very nice friend loaned me his wii because I wanted to use it as a last resort for fitness if my son didn't cooperate...The deal with my husband is that if I show that I am actually using it and it works for me we might get a kinect. I will then invest gobs (ok, not gobs) of money in fun fitness games:) I have wanted to try Zumba for a long time. That is on the top of my list. :)

Amberjae - At the beginning of June I started counting calories and I try to stay between 1200-1500 more often towards the lower end since I am only 5'2". I highly recommened Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. It only takes 25-30 min a day so you can always fit it in and she kicks your a**. I also increasedd the amount of fruit and veggies I eat since you get a lot more healthy food than junk food for the same number of calories.

AmberJae

Rated, Thank you for sharing! I'm embarrased to say I own the shred but have never made it past just watching the intro and thinking it looked hard. I think July might just be my month to shred. Thanks for the reminder. :)

It is so hard but it is so worth it. I joined a 30 Day shred group here and one lady who did it every day for 30 days lost a total of 15 Inches!! Just commit to it and push through it, take breaks if you need to because around day 5-6 it does start to get better.

I hope everyone is starting the month off strong!

I'm making my exercise goals super ambitious this month so hopefully it makes the difference and eating on plan will get me to 15lbs off. =)

My July Exercise Goals:

30 Day Shred 6 days a week.
Bike 100 miles every week. (Monday to Friday)
Do an additional workout DVD Monday-Friday.
Zumba on Saturday.

I worked out a lot in March when I lost 14.4lbs, this time I'm adding the 30 Day Shred and the extra workout on Saturdays. Hoping it gets me 15lbs down!

Good luck everyone!

I just went on to the Health Status site and plugged in some options for calorie burn. I think I am making my goals more mini goals thatn big time chunk goals. If I do 5 minutes of stairs a day I can burn over 6o calories. I think if I add in more of these mini activities the whole working out thing won't seem so daunting. It's amazing what small bursts equal up to in the end of day burn.

Woot Woot! :cb:

I stepped on the scale this morning and BAM! My heart nearly stopped... 199.6! I got back on 3 more times just to make sure. I am so excited! I haven't seen that weight in almost a year. I am now only 1.6 pounds heavier than my hubs. IF is really working well for me. I think it'smore that I finally just decided I had to get my butt up and move. :) :running:

I did this calculator at Health Status dot org, it tells you how many minutes of an activity it will take to burn one pound at your given weight. It's awesome! That's how I've been setting my goals lately.

Blondie160 To be quite honest with you, I'm not sure what I'm doing. I basically took every single piece of advice that people have given me over the years and that I have read online and put them together and its so far working.

I eat no more than 1200 calories, broken down in 6 small meals a day.
Drink a ton of water. Almost litterrally...
Stay far away from sodas, sweets, carbs (most of them) and all the other stuff thats no good for us...
I get some more sleep than I used to
And I make sure I work out intensively half an hour every day. No excuses.

My workouts are either elliptical for 30 mins, or treadmill HIIT for 30 minutes.
Some days (like last night) I do 15 mins of each. :)

I'm just hoping the progress doesn't slow down now. I'm almost halfway to goal!

Hi all, I was wondering if I would be able to jump in on this 15lbs in July? I signed up for Jilllian Michaels online 6/26 but have really stepped it up and started working out on 7/1 so I guess I'm right on track with everyone here. I am starting the 30 day Shred DVD that came with my online subscription today because it just came in the mail yesterday. Here are my stats:

I'm 5'4"
SW- 166
CW- 160
G1-150
G2-140
G3-130
FG-125

It's said that in 30 days of the shred you can lose 20lbs but right now I'm doubtful because I keep going up in lbs due to my sudden spike in working out but we'll see! Good luck to everyone and I really look forward to staying motivated with you all!

Welcome lmb2387! Of course you may join :).

Whoa caramelkitty & Blondie160! Congratulations on the losses! I'm not weighing in today because I'm not working so I don't have access to the scale at my hospital (which I find to be so much better for weighing), so I won't know my losses for this week until I go back to work on Monday. Hi All! I weighed myself this morning and was down 2lbs. Not too shabby but I do think I'm going to go more off of inches lost than weight because I measured as well this morning and I've lost 2 inches on my hips and 1.5 on my waist :carrot: I did the first day of the 30 day shred last night and I actually was pleasantly surprised with Level 1, I barely had any issues getting through it. In fact, I actually did Level 2 right after and I'm not that sore this morning! I think it helped a lot that I was doing the circuits on my Julianne Michaels online membership since I signed up because those are KILLER. I'm really looking forward to seeing the changes in my body in 30 days!

Blondie160 I reallly like that quote and it is definitely motivation for me. My boyfriend said it best when he said "I'll believe it when I see it, because you've said you were going on a diet and exercise program for months now and you've stuck with nothing!" (let me just say the boy must be blind because he actually thinks I'm sexy just the way I am and doesnt want me dieting but I'm not happy with myself which is why I want to change) But he is right, if I had just stuck with a program back in January, even if I was losing very slowly I would most likely be near or at goal at this point and I regret it tremendously. Time to continue suffering the pain of discipline :)

Im not having a great time at the moment! caramelKitty you have seen my SlimFast thread, I dont think Im gona take this approach because the shakes have ALOT of sugar and carbs in them! I am going to try meal replacement shakes using whey protein shakes instead for a little while to stop my uncontrollable eating! I just gota wait for it to be delivered!
How are you all doing?

07-13-2011, 12:18 PM
For some reason, I lost 5lb in the first week and now i'm either stalled or gaining, it's ridiculous, i've changed nothing, except i dont have any appetite anymore, so i cant make my calories and im scared @#$@#$ that I may have entered that dreaded "starvation mode"....

Hopefully I can break free. I must say though, that I measured some inches, and I am doing pretty good.
My measurements before I started were 40-35-45 and now they are 38-31-43
So I'm on a good path I guess, the scale can be rough, maybe try measuring? :)

AmberJae
07-13-2011, 12:26 PM
Hey Ladies, sorry I haven't checked in this week. I'm in the same boat... I'm stalled out. Last week I pushed down to 197 for a few days. It was solid. Then I spent the weekend at the IL's and now I"m stalled out. I went off IF but stayed well within my calorie budget. I'm stuck at 199-200 and no amount of water is getting it to budge. I too am having trouble meeting my calories and I'm starting to feel a bit rough about it. My dang husband brought me a cupcake from a new shop in town yesterday... I ate it because a) it was a thoughtful gesture
b) it looked like heaven and was strawberry flavored and...
c) I am feeling bad for myself and thought that a little sigar overload might kick my butt into gear or something.

I managed to fit it into my budget but I did not feel good after eating it.

So... Today is a new day, hopefully I can kick this body into gear and get back to where I was or better...

You know I go on the July daily weigh-in as well and have noticed not many girls are having a great loss this week, I'm just gonna blame it on the full moon! LOL

amberjae I feel you!! I actually bake cupcakes for family and friends birthday parties and stuff, so everytime I make some, I'm honestly DYING inside. Just dont feel bad for yourself, I'm sure if we keep working hard and doing our best with the diets, we're going to see the scale follow as well.

It's just so freaking hard not to get unmotivated!

Girls when I have stalled I do a short burst of HIIT on the elliptical, it does wonders just 20mins! Or you kno the extra calories from that cupcake may help your stall and make you start losing again!

Amberjae I went back down to 183.8 but its not good enough, I have litterally not lost a pound since last week. Bleh :( Maybe 5lb in a week was too much for my body to handle! lol How are you doing on this 15lb challenge?

This morning was my midmonth weighin. I'm only down 3.4lbs from the 1st. =P Pretty bummed. I've been completely on plan and exercise 6 days a week.. 15lbs for the month is pretty much out of reach. I just hope I'm not moving into a pleateau, I've never hit one before.

I'm smack in the middle of a plateau right now, I hope you dont go through this, it just really sucks.

I lost 5lb from the beginning of the month and now i'm floating around 183 and 184 and its making me angry lol

I am now realizing 15lb may be a little too much for one month, so I'm just going to aim for 10. lol
5 more pounds, that's a little more attainable! I think? :?:

Hope the rest of you girls are having a better time than I am!!

I'm at the same 8 pounds lost as last week. TOM is here this week so I think that may have something to do with me not losing. It's discouraging. Yesterday I went off my IF plan and ate whatever (no bad foods in the house) I wanted all day. I didn't log the calories but wrote everything down. This morning I input them into my tracker website and I was only at 1,500. Haha! This this morning I was out of my favorite tea so I had to drink water until my window opened up. I had a huge lunch... A can of tuna with miracle whip, pickles, onion on an whole grain sandwhich thin, and a huge sminach salad with apples sliced in it and sesame ginger dressing. It was a whole plate and a giant bowl of food and yet was less calories than a hot pocket or frozen entree (330cal). It totally made me motivated again. I think I'm hopping back on the calorie counting/lower carb wagon and letting go of the discouragement of not losing this week. I think if I plan better I will be able to make it to my calorie goals each day. Logging only 600 a day was getting mighty sad. I'm also opening my window to include lunch until I can figure out how to fill my quota. I'm looking forward to this weekend. I cleaned out my fridge and i"m ready to fill it with great choices.

i hope you all are still trucking right along. :)

Hey guys! Sorry I kinda vanished but it's been a crazy month for me with my dad going into the hospital twice and unnecessary friendship drama! Seems like everyone is doing AWESOME! I'm only down 4 pounds for this month but at least it's not a gain! Maybe I can still get in a decent loss before August 1st. Again, congratulations on everyone's progress!!

I'm still here. Last week was hectic, my son got a really bad viral rash :(...

So, I'm checking in in with a loss... 196.2 this morning. So I'm down 8.8 lbs. I am pretty sure 6.2 lbs won't come off in 6 days unless I do one of those cleanse programs... So, yeah, probably not. Anyway, it's still a loss and any loss is better than no loss. I'm going to keep pushing through this challenge and hopefully be able to hit a nice round number of 10 lbs lost in July.

Good job on all your losses. :)

I did it. 15lb in July!
Would I do it again?
The skinny girl inside wanting to come out says "YES!!!!"
The chubby girl suffering from insane migraines says "Take it easy !!!!"

We'll see how August goes. I'm just psyched cuz I may actually hit my bday goal :)

Hope ur all doing great! Xo
