CC Thanksgiving Challenge

It's time for a new Calorie Counters' Holiday Challenge! :thanks2:

Everybody did great on the Halloween DAY Challenge.
Some of us met our goals, some of us only got partway there, but we all put in a great effort, learned some lessons, made new friends, and supported each other... and that's what these challenges are for. Now, we're ready to set our sights on a new challenge, new goals, and the next 4 weeks and 2 days of this journey!

Here's how it works... Set a goal or goals that you would like to reach before Thanksgiving , November 26th, 2009. Your goals can be anything: pounds you want to lose, a smaller clothing size or outfit you'd like to fit into, sports or fitness achievements, or just a goal of keeping food and exercise on track. Whatever gets you excited about working your plan over the next few weeks, is the right goal for this challenge. You can set as many or as few goals as you like.

All are welcome! If you're not sure what your goal will be yet, but would like to join up and find some weight loss buddies, get and give support, please jump in, and you can post a goal later, when you think of something. Our main purpose is to motivate each other to keep the food on plan, keep exercising, keep getting leaner, more fit, and healthy.

MY Goal For this challenge will be To Reach anywhere in the 160's For a new decade.


On The 11th Of November it will be My 1 year anniversary Of counting calories ~SO I am excited to see what my grand total of weight loss in a year will be~I will Proboly post before & after Pics of this occasion....Not sure yet.
So this will be a big in between the challenge occasion for me personally!!!
To reach a loss of 90 pounds total in a year would be awesome!

My goal will be to to not binge at ALL. I also want to hit the 170's since right now I'm at 184.4 =(

If I could lose another 6lbs (10 might be too much since my weight loss has slowed considerably recently).

Hello! I just joined today. I would absolutely love to stick to my WW points until Thanksgiving is over. Let's see if I can lose 8 lbs, which will get me past my 5% milestone.

Just for background: I was a CC for years and years... I only joined WW because my cousin asked me to come to meetings with her. The reason I think WW is better for me personally (although we'll see) is that I'm really ready to put the rule-making in someone else's hands and just concentrate on the self-control aspect of dieting. When I make my own rules I'm always too strict and it's gotten me into trouble in the past. :rolleyes:

So yeah, I might be going back to CC once I learn more about what "moderation" is.

Haha, I'm really excited. Let's do this thing! :carrot:

My goals include:

Getting below 220 (I'm new, so I'm not sure how my body will react for a month-I may blow this goal out of the water, but I also may JUST reach this goal by Thanksgiving).

Another goal is to remain active in counting my calories and reporting them on my fitday.com account. I want to also exercise at least 5x/week, even if it is walking in my living room to Leslie Sansone's WATP.

My weight goal is to reach ONEDERLAND! So basically, 199.9 will make me happy =) Of course, anything lower will make me extremely happy!

Also, to work out at least 4 days per week!

The scale read 191.2 this morning....BLAH!!! So, my goal is to be back down to my 188 and preferably down to 185 by Thanksgiving.

I did well during the Halloween challenge, so I'm gonna jump in on this one too. I am currently 280.6 lbs and would love to lose 10 lbs by Thanksgiving. Looking forward to everyone making the goals that they set for themselves.

I'm not sure what to make my thanksgiving goal. I would really like to make it to Onederland but I think over 12 pounds would be to much to ask for in one month...... and that one month having the thanksgiving holiday in it. Hmmm Okay I will put down my goal for halloween and say 206 ...Thats an exciting goal since it's also 50 lbs gone ...anything over will be awesome and keeping it off will be a challenge all by itself.

Thanks, Lori, for starting the Thanksgiving challenge. As we all know, we are now getting into the hardest part of the year so I am happy to have something to focus on to help me with my motivation.

My goal is to lose three pounds by Thanksgiving. There's nothing too special about that number but I set it at that because I think that is realistic for me at this point in time. If I meet my goal I'll be happy and if I go beyond it, I'll be ecstatic!

OK-by Thanksgiving, I am going to work to lose another 8 pounds, which will put me at 205.

More importantly, I want to work out four days per week.

Well, considering I'm only losing 1lb/week, I'm going to set my Thanksgiving goal at 189. Which is pushing it, but I'm also planning to exercise more. So maybe I can jump to 2lb/week.

Weight Goal: Lose 6lbs
Exercise Goal: atleast 3x/week (really slacked off for the Halloween Challenge)
Thanksgiving Day Goal: NOT OVER EAT! I'm scheduled to work that day so atleast I won't be home to veg out & eat left overs all day! lol I plan to eat my calories for the day & that's it!

My goal for this challenge is to get to Onederland. I will do this by continuing my daily walks and eating a healthy low carb diet of about 1,500 calories a day.

I lost a little for Halloween (I looked fab in my dress last night!) :)

But, my goal is to once again get to 142 (or lower!) :turkey: I definitely am trying to slow the weight loss so that I can lose it at a stable rate--and keep it off. :)

So excited for another challenge everyone! For Halloween I lost a total of 27lbs (which was 4 more than my original challenge goal). Woohoo! So, my goal for the next four weeks is going to be 13lbs.

Hey guys...im sooooooo in this challenge! I really enjoyed the halloween challenge!:)

My goal for this challenge is to be in the 170's( For The First Time In 16yrs)so about 6lbs... im also going to be careful on my 'splurge' meals..sometimes they can get well, out of hand(hehehe)

My goals for Thanksgiving
~Lose 7.5 to get me to my 2nd 10% of weight loss. This also equals a 50lb loss.
~Increase my running to 4days a week, to reach my 35mile goal for the month.

I'd like to get under 250. Seeing as I will see a gain this week (the 7 lbs lost last week were stomach flu lbs...so not accurate) it will likely be around 10 lbs to get there.
I have no clue if that's too ambitious, not ambitious enough or not, but I guess we'll see!!!!

I'm in. My goal is 7 lbs, minimum. I won't set a max, because chances are, I'll barley squeek by on the minimum, but more would be thrilling.

So far today I've had coffee, soup and some sugar snap peas, so I'm on plan at least.

Hey everyone! This sounds like a great challenge for me because I am in another challenge that ends for New Years Day, so Thanksgiving is pretty close to the halfway point. I currently weigh 177, so I'm hoping to get down to at least 170 by Thanksgiving. I'm going to try to stay between 1200-1500 calories a day.

Candy is sooooooo hard to leave alone~And we think one bite is all we will take or one mini candy bar~and it is always More. Just eat a few pieces(2 or 3 Of your favorites) ~Place them aside for one last holiday memory Remember you can only eat them once the others are totally FOREVER GONE~Lower calorie pieces if possible And place the rest in the garbage & do not dig them out later. Or have that bonfire~Like I said above I totally understand.
Might suck to let them go But.......Life can suck sometimes ~LOL~BE GONE CANDY BE GONE!


as for my day....
I finally got 172.4 today So 2.6 to go to reach those
160's!! As long as the scale stays friendly...it has its moment. I gotta try to get some more jeans 2morrow. I am gonna take all my 11's & 12's & some 10's In to second hand store where they purchase them for about 3.00 a pair and then Buy some more used jeans back off them with the money.They charge 5.99 for them And then as long as I take care of them I can repeat myself.
I Need 10's & 9 Jr. So Hopefully they have those sizes.
They carry old navy & levis there NEW with tags for 11.99 Or so also....Still cheap considering all the sizes I have went through. So hopefully that goes well for me.
Well off to Check myspace for messages then go to bed...I am OLD & SLEEPY!!! ( I always feel old when My birthday is nearing(December 6th I will be 34)

OH I ALMOST FORGOT TO ADD...ON OCTOBER 20th 2009 I became A "GREAT AUNT" My niece had a baby girl.
I had 5 brothers(1 is deceased & 4 is living) & 1 sister (living)and My brother Edgar was 2nd born in our family But the first to be a parent and the first to be a grandpa.
I wish My dad Would have lived long enough to see the new addition ~he passed aways in 2007 ~He would have just loved her.She is Precious!

Oh, lucky! I wish my sister would have babies already. Mine is 8 years old and refuses to be cuddled anymore.

I don't know how I am going to deal with the candy situation. I can throw the left over stuff from out stash out, but my son has a huge bag of candy from his trick or treating efforts and unfortunatly I have to police that so I know where to find it...and I have no self control...and no shame...lol.

I could tell my son to hide it and hide it well from me, but then he'd have free reign and I know him, he'd eat it all in one day and be sick sick sick...bless his heart he is just like his mother...lol!

I've decided, candy sucks.

I usually let my kids go hog wild with the candy until its gone. I;d rather it be gone in a couple days than drag it out. They never get sick...

However we usually only hit about 7 houses or so and this year we went with friends and did a lot more and came home with an impressive bounty. I still let them go hog wild and there was a few left today I finally said enough was enough and threw it away (aka up with the baking chips and stuff LOLOL!). They were using it as meal replacements a little too long for my comfort.

Hi Everyone!!! :wave:

I see lots of old friends and lots of new ones here. I sort of fell off the Halloween challenge. Life got a little crazy and hectic. The past few months have been riddled with weight loss/eating challenges for me. I've been having the hardest time getting 100% back on plan. I feel like I'm almost back in the groove. I realized that I am so much better when I'm more active on the boards. So...here I am! :D

Thanks Lori for keeping this going! :hug: You are rockin' chickie....160s are on your doorstep!!!

I am honestly not sure what measurable goals to set for Thanksgiving. I just want to get back on track. Keeping my calories to 1600-1800 per day. I am going to allow a couple limited treat days due to a couple special events coming up along with Thanksgiving. I will NOT go crazy, just enjoy w/in reason. I will continue to hit the gym 6-7 days per week. If the weather cooperates I want to get in at least one 20 mile bike ride (my best right now is 15 miles) before the cold, cold weather hits. I will continue my efforts to increase my jogging time. Just stay smart and focused!!!

I've got to run for now. It's late and I've been staying up way too late watching the World Series...Go Phillies!!! :D Tomorrow will be another late night.

mango- I hear ya...I'm dealing with the halloween candy too. My daughter and hubby will no way let me chuck it since I never otherwise buy it. We have to be strong :jig:

Coolmom- I bought all the candy this year so it's all the family's favorites. None of little yucky candy that no body cared if I tossed or not.....Since my daughter has grown out of trick or treating I think next year I will just buy some cookies or something.

Afternoon all, just checking in!

I hear all of you about the Halloween candy. So far I have managed to avoid all but one piece. However there is a Heath bar in my dd's bucket that has been calling me. I wish she'd eat that already:dizzy:.

I had a brief blip on my scale journey. Saturday and Sunday were not great days for me. I stayed on plan calorie wise, but ate enough sodium ladled foods to allow me to float in the bath tub;). I ate Olive Garden, pizza, and pumpkin seeds that had been soaked in salt water, sprinkled in salt, baked and then salted. So by Monday I was up to 210. That's 2 pounds more than I was!:o

So I swore off pumpkin seeds, got back on healthy foods, and now I am back down to 208. Lesson learned.

The candy is GONE. I got tired of it and after a temper tantrum involving candy last night I tossed it all out and we are just going back to the, if you eat your dinner, we'll walk to the store and buy you a treat thing that we do. Next year I'm putting my foot down with home many houses he's allowed to go to, and we'll sort out all the garbage candy first. Geeze, candy is such a pain in the arse! But at least its officially out of my house...now just to get it out of the office.

I made it to cardio last night, and thanks to a superfine silver fox on the treadmill I managed to stay on the elliptical for 40 minutes. Damn that guy was HAWT. If he would guarentee me he'd be there every day, I'd show up for cardio more often...lol!

Lori - I've been great, busy with school work. I completely agree, the 170's are a pain. I had gotten down to 167 over the summer, then completely got off track once I went on vacation and then found it hard to get back on once I started school. We are definitely gonna do this!!

So far this week has been going pretty good. I'm down 1 lb since Monday. I did really great yesterday, I worked out for about an hour and ended up with a 1004 calorie deficit for the day (. It is so much easier to keep track of calories burned now that I have a GoWear Fit. I only got in a 2 mile walk today, but that's better than nothing. I decided that Tuesdays and Thursdays will be my off days for exercise since I'm off on weekends now. Time for me to get some school assignments done. Hope everyone has a great day!

Lori, congrats on your weight loss!!! Buying new clothes is always a good sign... I'm trying to slow down my weight loss a little so that I can go shopping when I go home to my family for thanksgiving... and still meet my mini goal (with my larger goal a WIP!). 140 was my Halloween goal... but I can't wait to reach it by Thanksgiving!!

Hi Everyone! :wave:

Good day here! Food choices were wise. I got in about an hour of weights. Still debating on what my evening snack is going to be. I'll be up for a while watching the World Series (Go Phillies!) so I'm going to put the kids to bed and find something yummy and healthy. Plenty of calories left today.

As far as me today.............Went to pay bills....Lots of errands.....Got me the 1 pair of jeans at the thrift store( Yes I only got 1 pair because I was being picky LOL!) I also got a new beret/cap type hat & Some new headbands & a new necklace & matching earrings~Just cheapy stuff But Fun to shop.I LOVE HATS & HEADBANDS & ALL SILVER JEWELRY!

I stayed on plan with my calories & So I am pretty happy with my day.

Seriously a couple years ago after I starting on my diet, I had a lot of dental work done. My mouth was in very sad shape. Coincidentally I did lose a lot of weight while most of the major work was being done and I was healing from it. I do not however reccommend this as a weight loss method! :lol:

I actually hid from my dentist today by not answering when I saw caller ID. I hate it so much! I will only consent to annual cleanings (instead of the 6 mo, or even 3 mo exams they push for) and its due. I don't wanna!!!

I'm only a few days behind but I'd like to join you...

I've never done a Challenge, normally if I put a time limit on something I tend to rebel and give up. And I've never beem part of such a HUGE group...it will take me a while to get everyone straight, although I see some familar faces/names.

My goal is to keep up the exercise {not my problem area} and get a grip on my eating {LOL, my problem area}.

Because of my vision, I can't drive, so I'm home all day, just steps away from the kitchen. The only things within easy walking are a gas station and a groc store, Hello, no help there. I tend to eat when I'm bored; in most cases its not that I have nothing to do just I'd rather do something else. Since I started 3FC in July I have gotten a lot better at changing habits, catching the restless warning signs of bordom or emotional upset and finding something to do other than eat. I did well the first month here at 3FCs, by only eating when hungry and tracking my eating on Fitday, which helped me keep the calories near a limit, but I also found that very frustrating. I'm trying again, having switched to MyPyramidTracker, and I'm trying to be positive about this. :carrot:

I once had to spend Valentine's Day at the dentist....that was the year that I was in his stupid office at least once a month for 7 months. My bank account hated me that year. I hate my teeth!!!

Today has been a really good day eating and exercise wise!!! Stress wise, not so much...but the gym really helped me ease some of the stress. My kids at school have been asking me the past week or so if anything's wrong because I'm apparently not the same person that I normally am? That makes me sad...but things have been so stressful at work and I have felt so far behind since before school even started!! I can't seem to catch up. It made me sad that my students are noticing a change in my mood though.

i think my goal will be to avoid binge eating; i got the idea from someone on a previous page, and i think it will work better for me than setting a number of pounds to lose. when i follow cc and don't eat after 7:30pm, i do really well.

Starzmom- :lol: I can think Of a lot of other diets I would rather be on then a trip to the dentist.

I need my top wisdom teeth pulled :eek: The one on the right is giving me trouble ... since they are both growing in funny might as well get them both pulled. I'm trying to hold out until the dental insurance at my dh's job renews in January so we can get put back on it. We decided againist it for one year because the health insurance was so high .... so of course this is the year my teeth decide to bother me. Had it all those years and never used it once for anything major. Just my luck!

patchwork- welcome to the group. I snack when I'm bored too....My problem is at night when we are watching TV. The family is snacking and I want to too.

Lori- Can I give my halloween candy to your kids :lol: Dh and DD are not eating it fast enough :eek:

I am in a bit of a hurry~I Started "TOM" And I am in gripey MODE ~LOL~Sometimes that happens....I just need some zzzzzzzz.Yes Sleep would be so sweet. Anyways~Dentist scare the heck outta of me....My teeth are horrible ~I can get them fixed but I have been short on the money so I am trying to just figure out someone to Put me in false teeth...No luck so far because of my age........UGH!

Anyways...........OFF TO BED~Take care everyone & do your best.

P.s. I only have 6 more days until My 1 year anniversary of losing weight!!!

My original 1 year goal was to lose 48 pounds (4 pounds a month)
I figured that was a realistic number~I am amazed I Am so far beyond that number~It's awesome what we can do if we put our minds to it.

Well, it's my TOM also and I have not been so resistant to the candy as you all...I've probably had 2-3 pieces a day since Saturday...I add them to my daily calories, but that's still doesn't make it OK...I have NO willpower!!!

As for the dentist, I was scared crazy this past summer when I had to have my wisdom teeth extracted...but it wasn't that bad after all...he gave me some Valium to calm me the night before and then I had IV sedation for the procedure...I followed all his post-op instructions and had NO PAIN...and very minimal swelling...I guess my advice is to find the right dentist and make your anxiety known...don't be afraid to admit you're scared or like me, a big baby when it comes to pain! lol

As for my weight loss, it's ZERO! Scale is still at 195...But I did a 45min workout video on Monday and pilates, as well as a 40min treadmill walk/jog on Tuesday...so atleast I've started working out...I've set a goal for atleast 3x/week...

I hope everyone is doing well. Ive got to go to the dentist too, got two cavities that ive been avoiding and there starting to hurt.

TTOTM is coming close for me to and boy oh boy was i a little time bomb wednesday...everything ticked me off,lol. I don't like days like that, just want to stay home and stay far away from everybody;)

Well the dentist really wasn't a very big deal. It's my gum, not my tooth! Gotta get a good cleaning and keep it clean.
I've been eating these bran crackers about 2-4 a day. They seem to be keeping me full and satisfied. Good news for me.

WOW...so much going on in here. It is hard for me to keep up. I want to wish everyone success with all their goals. I know how exciting it must be cross over a boarder :carrot: I am trying my best to get out of the 200's. It's so close and yet so far. I am so jealous. I am taking it in small chucks so that I don't let myself get overwhelmed and frustrated. Right now I just want to jump into the 210's. I know it's coming but " I WANT IT NOW ":o:^: (whining is not pretty).

Anyway. Looking forward to the weekend.
I actually have a birthday party to go to on saturday. This will be my first official party since re-starting in early august. I am pretty confident I should be ok. I will leave room in my calorie range, but don't plan on eating much there. I will just keep thinking to myself.... (I wonder who had there hands in there? .....Swine flu is a concern). That should keep me out of a lot of things. The good part is I plan on doing a bunch of dancing, so I will be counting that in my cardio for the day :p

I feel like I'm actually gaining weight. I've cut calories and now I've gone low carb again, and I just keep bloating up more and more. I don't get it. yesterday I was 189 on the scale, down from 191, then this morning back up to 191. Very frusterating.

Dentists. DOn't get me started. I live in a remote area, and our dentist flys in. Last time he was here I went to see him about tooth pain and had to get a wisdom tooth extracted with only general anasthetic. The tooth was not even errupted out of the gums so it was surgical and I was awake for the whole thing. Now, I'm terrified of ever going back. AND, the jerk only gave me two vicodan pills to take home for the pain. Two. 2. I hurt for weeks after that.

Hi yall! Just popping in to update on my lack of progress. :D We have the flu running through the house this week and I am still feeling like poo. I haven't had much of an appetite, but what I have been eating hasn't been low calorie. I think I should be okay though, way below a maintenance level for sure. I only made it to the gym one day this week before I got hit with it myself so I am kinda bummed about that.

Glad to see everyone is doing well other than having to deal with visitors;) and the pesky dentist. Keep on keepin on, folks! :)

Tonight hubby and I had a (rare) date night and didn't want to go straight home after the movie so we stopped in a funky little neighborhood bar and I had two cocktails and fries. eek!

I was good and tallied everything up on Fitday. The damage was not as bad as I feared but will need to buckle down for the weekend now.

I need to lose a pants size. I'm getting frustrated because nothing is moving so I am going to up my exercise as best as I can and make sure I stick with 1200 calories cuz 1400 just isn't helping me lose.

I have really been working hard this week and trying to eat the best that I can and really exercise hard. I managed to lose 2.2 pounds and am down to 189 :) That was definitely nice to see this morning on the scale!!!

Now I just need to continue...hehe!

tried 10MS HB Bootcamp again today. I did four sections Drills, Cardio, abs and stretch. I started with Drills and loved that section. Amy would give us about 4 exercises to do in a pattern but if I pick one and stick to it I find I do better and my HR gets higher, also. I tried Cardio again, huff puff, I finished it but I was breathing hard by the end {only 10 MIN!} Again with the pick one thing and stick with it. I did the abs section and loved it, even thought it used weights, LOL, I'm a gadget person maybe because of the weights! I think I had another Amy workout that I hated the workout but loved the abs??? The stretch was okay, it used a towel/belt and had a lot of standing poses, so I was leaning against the wall, LOL for those.

I have determined that Friday's are my worst eating days. The hard part of my week is over, I can relax etc. I'm waiting for the weekend to start! Hubby brought home a small pizza from our favorite place. Celebrate! Hmmmm. I did okay yesterday but I could have done better. I didn't know we were going to get the pizza until Hubby called right before he left work so I didn't 'save/plan' any room in my food plan. {I say this like I really have a plan!} So I had two snacks yesterday instead of one, then pizza on top of that. Oh, well. I'll have to remember to be more careful next Fri. Maybe start a new project to keep me extra busy.

Mango..your dental experience must have been so painful, especially not having adequate pain meds after.

I'm doing better mouth wise today but still have my appetite reduced. I had about 1,200 calories yesterday..which is about where I want to be.

Hi Everyone! :wave: I hope you are all having a wonderful Saturday!

I started out the day at the gym. That's where I usually am on Saturday mornings. Then DH and I took the boys to lunch and to the DE Natural History Museum. Small and perfect for 2 spirited little toddlers. :dizzy: Now we are chilling out with some TV/computer time.

I dragged the scale out of the closet for my Friday weigh in. I was down a lil over two pounds for the week. Yay! However, still a little over 4 pounds up from my low. BOO! :p I'm working my way back. I'll do it!

Tomorrow is a planned 20 mile bike ride with a friend! Hoping my butt holds out. ;) My best so far is 15. Actually 20 was one of my Halloween goals. OK..now it's a Thanksgiving goal and should be complete tomorrow.

Skipping personals for now. Hope no one minds! Have a great evening!!

I am so bad about exercise. My weight loss has slowed to a crawl, but still I have not made myself do anything extra. The weather is so beautiful and would be perfect for a walk, yet still nothing doing.

One problem is that about 2 years ago, I had started walking in the mornings. I was listening to my ipod--music is all that made exercise bearable--and I was surrounded by a group of neighborhood dogs. Most were harmless, but one of them bit me several times. The bites were not severe, but it was traumatic at the time, and I have never really been able to go walking with my ipod again. No ipod--no walk.

Hey everyone, I've been pretty busy over the past few days but I am down 1.4 lbs so far. Tomorrow is my official weigh in and I'm hoping to be down a full 2 lbs, but we'll see. Now we have a hurricane to watch out for down here, but I'm kind of hoping it'll get classes cancelled on Tuesday so that one of my tests will be pushed back to Thursday. I didn't get to exercise today, but I did tons of walking at a jewelry show yesterday, and around the French Quarter with my mom. I didn't eat to well at Margaritaville though, I had a BBQ bacon cheeseburger with fries, but that was the only bad thing I ate. Doing good so far today, but won't be able to get much joggin in tomorrow because it's supposed to storm all day. Hope everyone had a great week.

Hey Gang! This is going to be quick. I am beat and heading to bed shortly. Today was beautiful and I went out with my biking partner. I'm happy to report my new personal best ride...21 miles! Yay! I was so pumped after that.

Then when I got home we went right back out the door to the zoo where we spent the rest of the day.

It was a fun, super active day!!!

I have Breathing issues that keep me indoors during cold & severe hot weather So I gave up & decided to just daily walk indoors.WORKS OUT GREAT! & NO DOGS TO BITE YOU!!!:)

I'd like to lose 8 by Thanksgiving. It's not as steep as it sounds. I know I am fluffy from pre-TOM (and cranky!!) so I figure I'm good for atleast 3 pounds water weight.

I am trying to exercise 3 days a week for 15 minutes atleast. I've turned into such a wuss.

I will stay under 1500 cals- no wheat.

I will drink my water.

Okay, off to make DH's lunch. I'll have to be creative about my menu (usually means "what's in the fridge" soup. lol )

What's everyone else eating?

I hope everyone is feeling well and on track diet/exercise-wise. We can stay on track during the holidays. The more we stay on track now the less we have to resolve to lose later, right?
So even though I'm not currenty losing, I'm staying on track. No other option looks good to me. If I don't eat on plan I will gain so I'm staying on plan!

Well today was my official weigh in for the week and I made my goal of a 2 lb loss!! I'm down to 175 today. Congrats to everyone else for their accomplishments :cp: I didn't get to go walk/jog today due to Tropical Storm Ida. It was supposed to turn (still is) but they have been saying that since early yesterday and it's still heading straight this way so who knows. It's just really cloudy and EXTREMELY windy, only a few drizzles here and there though. I guess that means I'm stuck inside studying for my quiz and test tomorrow.

Well, I'm kinda upset. No loss for me :( I'm still at 195 as of today, but Friday I was 194 and I've definitely been on track with calories. I started exercising last week: cardio workout Monday, pilates Tuesday, and 30-40min treadmill Thurs, Fri, & Sat, along with upper body weight training those days also...I understand your weight sometimes increases slightly after you begin exercising, but this is very frustrating!!! I drink atleast 64oz of water every day and sometimes upwards of 96oz. My calories ranged from 1300 to 1800, but most days it was right around 1500. Any suggestions???

I dunno. Maybe I just need to be patient and wait for a loss next week???

KDM I know it can be frustrating, but hang in there. You are doing all the right things, so it will move for you soon. I know with me the first week or so adding exercise slowed me down. Plus you add A LOT at one time. Your doing great, don't worry.

I am also sitting at the same weight. I think part of it is pre-TOM, so as soon as I get past that I hope to be ok.

November seems so short with the holiday stuck in there.

You guys were right...I was frustrated pre-maturely! lol The scale said 194 this morning. Maybe slightly below, but w/my prehistoric analog scale, I can't really see all the little lines between the 5's LoL My electronic scale is on it's way...I ordered it Saturday. Then I'll be able to track even the smallest of losses! lol or Gains for that matter!

I did 45min Turbo Jam Cardio Party yesterday and I'm really sore today...but maybe I'll have time to do the treadmill tonight at work...I'm deteremined to stick w/exercising! My goal is atleast 3x/week...I'm also going to try to get closer to my daily calories...once I looked further into my calories for last week, I was WAAAY under (almost 1100) for the amount I should've had for the week (I've been trying to calorie cycle...wanted to give it a try for a month or so)

Just popping in for a quick hello! Mon and Tues are always crazy for me so not much time to post. I took a boot camp class last night at the gym. Had a great workout, but did something to my knee. OUCH! It hurts. I could barely walk all day. I think it's feeling a tad better. I'm praying it's just a minor set back.

Lori...Happy Anniversary!!! HUGE congrats on 88 pounds! That is fantastic! You should be so proud of yourself!!!

Hi ladies...Sorry I've been MIA

I started taking new meds and it's really messing up my calorie in take. I can't take them on an empty stomach and I can't take them with this and that food....it's driving me batty :lol: I also have pill I have to take on an empty stomach and it seems like right after that one I'm eating all day long. I'm headed to the store for some lower cal foods so I can eat four hundred times a day without hopefully gaining weight :lol: It was a little depressing so I've just been eating whatever I feel like eating...not good at all. I'm over my pitty party and ready to figure out a way to handle all this pill popping :)

Well No new low today But 87.7 Pounds total in 1 year!!! YIPPIE!!!
I am very happy....Now Friday is my next special day~my hubby will have 1 year in of being Sober. I am sooooo proud of him~2 more days!!!
Plus he quit smoking a few months ago~and skoal. I quit smoking about 1 & 1/2 years ago. We are trying to be the best we can be for each other ,Ourselves, & Our Kids.

Just went and got a pair of boots for my "1 year OF weight loss anniversary" and did my nails up...painted them a burgandy color and placed on little white flower stickers with shiny silver centers...SO COOL...I love flowers & silver jewlery so they go well with them.......I just wish they was longer lol~I bite my nails still.
hahahahaha~the boots were like house slippers on the bottom kinda But I do not care if they are meant for outside or not I am gonna wear those babies to town!! LOL! (My hubby gave me the money~Out of the blue today and said congradulations to me & told me I was always beautiful But He just wanted to remind me how beautiful he thinks I am~ I NEARLY LOST IT! He can be sooooooooo dang BEAUTIFUL HIMSELF SOMETIMES LOL~Unless we disagree then I am always right and We have it out every so often LOL!

I bought these performance fleece ballet slipper things from Old Navy for like $5 and they are the best thing I have ever bought!!!! So warm and so comfortable and I kind of want to go get more in different colors!! haha I have been wearing those instead of socks around the house.

Even though I wasn't counting while I was really sick, I didn't have much of an appetite so that helped. I am nervous about going back to the gym just yet because I still have a terrible cough and it is just made worse by excessive activity. I am going to be back there by Monday no matter what though!

chele~I feel like a million Bucks....Those fleece ballet slippers Sound dreamy & I love Old navy....There stuff rocks. I decided that I will not wear those boots in bad rainy or snowy weather just maybe once a week...When the weather is Just cold & dry. My hubby said I had to waer them to town cause they match my scarfs and gloves & hats perfectly.

Just checking in! Everybody is doing so great! We'll be a Bunch of skinny-minnies come the holidays!

I am down 4 lbs from Monday. Woot! All water I am sure, 3 nights of night sweats evidently did the trick. My water intake has been lacking and the exercise was nil due to weather related pain... and I hate doing it. Bad, huh. And my calories were lower than I meant them to be, but today is market day and I will be able to get all the fresh stuff I've wanted all week.

Lori- You are truly an inspiration and through you, so is your husband. I've only read a few of your posts here in the challenge but they make me smile and I loved reading a little about your marriage history. Nice to hear a "in for the long haul" story. My parents are still together, too. Another Through thick and thin story. Me? I'm on my second husband but this one is a good one! lol And congrats to your hubby on his first year sober. Kicking a "habit" like that is a true feat.

Lori, it is awesome what you have been able to achieve. You and your husband have a lot to be proud of! So many start and don't keep going, so a year of healthy choices is to be celebrated.

I am pleased to report that I lost 2 lbs this week. After several weeks going back and forth around the same number, I feel relieved that the scales actually moved to a new low. I was beginning to question whether I could do this, because I knew my calories were as low as I could tolerate. So I'm thankful for good results this week.

HOLY COW!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!! I'm down to 192.6...my digital scale arrived yesterday afternoon and this morning it said 192.6...YAY! And no it's not the scale, because I didn't believe it at first and weighed myself on the old analog...it said 192-193...SOOO...I'm only 3.6 from my goal of 189!!!!! I totally freaked when I hadn't lost anything on Monday after working so hard last week...but now I'm down 2.4 from then....ok, I'm just babbling, so I'll shut up! lol

didn't exercise today, but did some house work, so I guess that's better than just sitting around! lol Hope everyone is having a good week! Keep up the good work everyone!!

Today has been a wicked bad day food wise.....I just can't stop eating!!!! And it's not like I'm eating out of boredom either. I felt as if my stomach could eat itself all day long. I'm in the middle of TOM right now, so I am chalking it up to that...but still frustrating!!! But I did make sure to work out a bit extra at the gym this afternoon since I knew how much crap I had already eaten up until that point and I still had several hours of food eating time left! haha

Well after a sauteed veggie and egg brunch, a banana/spinach smoothie snack and a ridiculously huge salad for dinner I think I am all veggied out for today.

Thankfully I have a dill/cottage cheese bread dough rising and should be ready to bake soon. I hope its as good as it sounds to me.

Hi Everyone! :wave: I finally got back in as well after a couple days. It's been a crazy week...a bit of a blur. I rested my knee most of the week and it's feeling a lot better, almost back to normal. I did get in an upper body workout yesterday. Today has been non-stop busy and I decided to give cardio a rest for one more day. Tomorrow I have a bike date in the morning. :)

Despite the lack of exercise last week I'm happy to report that food was great and I was down 2.4 pounds for the week!

I have to put the lil fellas to bed and have a bit of a "to-do" list to complete tonight. I'll catch up more with ya'll later!

Hey everyone. Well I got in a good workout yesterday, food was also great yesterday. Unfortunately, I must have had bad form on one of the exercises yesterday because my back has been KILLING me today. I skipped working out today to let it rest, and used a heat massager which helped a little. Food wasn't too bad today till about an hour ago. I had toast for breakfast and subway oven roasted chicken sandwich for lunch..but then had 2 servings of Ben & Jerry's cookie dough ice cream, that's 520 calories!! I'm only down 0.6 so far for the week so I definitely need to get in a good workout tomorrow because TOM is coming sometime within the next few days, and with that usually comes a little bit of extra weight. Hopefully my back will feel better tomorrow so that I can at least go out on the track and walk.

Well, Thanksgiving is almost here...so I am going to pick a really simple goal.
2lbs.

I plan on using soups, hot cocoa to fill my need to nosh...veggies alone just don't do it. Soup is really filling and hot cocoa works better than anything.

I'm doing a couple days worth of 1200 ish calories..then I will go back up to the 1600 I was doing.

I didn't think I looked over weight in it.....And Ever other pic I always think that....My BMI Says 20 pounds to go to be normal~but I am normal now!!LOL regardless of what that says.....I FELT FABULOUS!

Mark me down for 4lbs lost since last Monday (my official weigh in day)...The scale read 191 today WOOOOHOOOO!! I was upset last Monday because I hadn't lost & was exercising like crazy...well I kept up the crazy exercising this past week and it paid off!! I might actually reach my Thankgiving goal of 189....speaking of that number, that's the lowest EVER in my adult life...I was 189 in August of 2006 after doing WW for 6-8months...I can't wait to be in the 180's!!!

I weighed in this morning at 219, and my goal was to be under 220 by Thanksgiving! woot woot! I'm excited! Keep going, ladies! I'll respond to your posts soon-when I get the opportunity. I was just drifting through and noticed that I had totally signed up for the challenge. Duh Me! lol

Well my weigh in is a little late this week. I normally have an official weigh in on Mondays but I had to stay at my boyfriend's house Sunday night so that I can babysit his sister's baby Monday (his sister had her gallbladder removed). So my official weigh in is today, and no suprise here, it stayed the same (175). I'm actually surprised I didn't gain. I didn't do to great with keeping track of calories toward the end of last week, and TOM should be coming tonight or tomorrow. I haven't been feeling good since last night, but I'm still gonna try to get some kind of exercising in. Hopefully they'll be a good loss next week

Its TOM and I'm afraid I haven't lost a single pound this challenge. I'm still tracking everything and my cals have been more in the 1500-1700 range with no exercise. That means maintenance for me I suppose.

Hopefully I can keep trucking and see some loss soon.

I'm starting these goals a little late, but I have a couple I'd like to reach by/on Thanksgiving:

I'd like to be at 205 lbs or under

I'd like to have not missed 1 day or any part of my exercise schedule between now and Thanksgiving day

I bet you all will do great with your goals... looks like everyone is on track, so far so good :)

I'd like to stay within my calorie limit this Thanksgiving day! SOOO HARD

It is great to see so many people having success with the challenge. Last week I thought for sure when I weighed in at 1 lb away from my goal that I would reach it by Thanksgiving, however, this week I didn't lose any. Still, I have a whole week to go, and so it would be a real boost to make it to my challenge goal. We'll see.

MissPriss, you have been doing so great. You really have the right attitude--what I mean is that you are very pro-active about reaching your goal. I think success is in your future.

Hey Gang....Just checking in before the weekend.

Everyone is doing such a great job with goals and staying positive. I think that makes a major difference. Even when you don't see the results right away, you are confident enough to know that they are coming.

I am down to 217.0 this morning, so I have 3 more lbs to go to meet my goal. :dizzy: It seems a bit much to do in a week, but I am going to give it my all. I will definitely feel proud of whatever I can do by then. It's all about the motivation.

Good Monday Morning All !!!!

Well I went to a family brunch yesterday and I am happy to report I am actually down another 1/2lb this morning (216.5). I am proud of myself how I handled the event. Usually I am in a rush and want to eat and eat. But this time, I enjoyed the time with family I have not seen in a while. I waited and was the last one to make my plate. So while others were on there 2nd and 3rd I was just eating my first. :D I just kinda hung around till people started asking me was I going to eat, then I made a small plate when the crowd died down. Another part of my strategy was to eat before I went. I had some homemade clam chowder before going and then made sure to get in my run on the treadmill that evening. It worked perfectly. :carrot:

Lori you are soooo close I have my fingers crossed for you.

misspriss you are on your way. YaY on the 2.2. Thanks for the good vibes I know they will make a difference.

Shan 12lbs is AWESOME!!!! I have no doubt you will make it.

Hey everyone, I'm sorry I'm never on here anymore. School has been crazy this past week, and it will continue for the next 3 weeks. But I graduate on December 20!!! I can't wait to be finished with all of this studying. I did pretty good with eating last week, but hardly exercised at all. I did somehow lose 2.8 lbs though!!!!! I am now at 172.2. I tried something new for the second half of last week and didn't count calories. I just tried to only eat when I was ACTUALLY hungry and not just because it was time to eat. It definitely helped to cut my calories down. So I think I'm going to stick with this for a while to see how it works, and hopefully I'll lost the last 2.2 by Sunday to get to my Thanksgiving goal.

Hey guys....it's been awhile since I've been here but life has been crazy the past two weeks. I went away both last weekend and this past weekend to see some skating competitions. I had such a great time at both of them with my friends!!!!

Something horrible happened though on my way home from Toronto this past weekend. I was waiting in line to check in and a mom walked in with her baby on her hip and her other son walking behind her. Somehow, the baby fell from the mom's arms from the departures level down to the arrivals level. Sherri (from here) told me that the baby ended up dying from the fall. This was the scariest and saddest thing I have ever experienced in my life. I have not been able to sleep since then. Everytime I close my eyes, I can picture the baby and then I can picture the mother screaming uncontrollably. I have had this awful feeling in the pit of my stomach ever since....the experience has definitely scarred me. It was seriously the worst thing ever and I can't even imagine what that mother is going through right now.

So needless to say, things have been weird ever since Sunday. I have started back at the gym and thankfully it's giving me an outlet to just go somewhere and not think about the tragedy for an hour out of the day.

OMG Chele~how horrible That must have been & is being for you.
I Feel so horrible for the mother......Mothers always have there hands full & are multi~tasking.......I have that family definetly In My prayers.......As I do you as well.............It must have been so scary to see that.
I still to this day can see my father (who passed awy on september 7th 2007) When I got to the hospital and he didn't make it......Laying there lifeless.......I was destroyed..........I can see him like it just happened..........so I could not imagine seeing a baby Falling to his/or her death.......I am so sorry you had to witness that.

As for me....Going to do like kinda like Misspriss~I am having a free day On thanksgiving....I did last year too & it worked out well for me....One free day a year is better than stressing myself for that day & ruining the holidays for myself & my family. I Start back on 1400 calories the next day...regardless if there is leftovers. ~I actually will be lucky to get a whole lot down...My stomach has definetly shrunk and I get full very quickly now.

Well, I had a gain this week. Up back up to 193.0, but don't know why. I'm wondering if my 191 was water weight or something because ever since last monday I've slowly crept back up...but it's been 193 for 3 days now. The only day I went over my calories was Thursday night when I had popcorn while watching New Moon at 1AM! lol I've ridden my recumbent bike anywhere from 5-15miles PER DAY (AM ride & PM ride)...so I dunno...I was really hoping to actually meet my goal of 189...doesn't look like it's gonna happen in the next 2 days! oh well...I'll get there eventually...

Ok on 11-14 when I picked my goal, I did not realize I would get TOM 2 days before Thanksgiving. GRRRR. I was 176.0 on that day. So I will have to make 174. Since I am only 175 right now, I think I can make it, but I might not see the weight drop until after Thanksgiving! Go figure.

Well, I didn't meet my goal AGAIN! But atleast the scale is moving back in the right direction LoL...as today was official weigh in for the challenge....I'm at 191.0...back to where I was last week...if I would've lost the 2lbs I did this week last week, then I woulda met my goal!! BLAH! OH well! Maybe I can reach goal by the time I go home to WV on 12/9...2lbs in 2wks - DOABLE ...it would be really nice for my mom to notice a 10-15lbs loss since she saw me last :D

I think I want to make a New Year's goal to be 185.......not too agressive so maybe I can actually meet one goal I set! haha OH WAIT, I met my November Exercise Goal of atleast 3x/week...I've actually been doin 4-6x per week SO THAT'S A PLUS!!!

I am thankful for this challenge because it gave me something to work toward before Thanksgiving. It was a small goal but I reached it:cheer2:

This morning after one day off plan the scale is up a pound.

Now I am right back on plan and I am giving myself three days of dieting to get back to where I was. It is a sobering thought to realize how much ground has to be made up after even a one-day break from my normal diet plan.

Still I am not complaining. I planned to allow myself this indulgence so now I will just plan to get back on track. I heard the author of "Eat This, Not That" say that the average weight gain during the holiday season is 6 pounds! I don't know if that is true or not. But now I am seriously considering my next goal. Will I just try to maintain the weight I was before I started, or will I try to actually lose weight over the holidays?

If the 6 pounds average gain is true, then it would be an accomplishment to just break even, wouldn't it?

I am hoping that everyone on the challenge will post to let us know how you did over Thanksgiving and what your plans are now.

Well I weighed in at 172.4 on Thanksgiving morning, so I only was up .2 since my weigh in the week before. Now I know I gained some water weight from thanksgiving food the past 2 days, so I'm going to eat good today and tomorrow and drink plenty of water and hopefully I'll be back to my original weight for the week. Se ya'll in the Christmas Challenge!

Well, my goal for Turkey Day was 189...I decided that when I had the analog scale...well today, on my digital scale, it said 189.6 WOOOOOHOOOOOO

Only 6 days late! lol Come on 185 for Santa Claus LOL
