GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, there's 2 of them to read today:

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

A LITTLE PATIENCE

A little patience can save you a lot of frustration and regret. Have patience with others, with yourself, with the way your life moves forward, and reap the benefits that patience can bring.

Many times, it can be far more effective to practice patience than to react in anger. Many times, patience will move you forward when frenzied effort will not. When you lash out at every turn of events, you spiral downward into a victim of your own circumstances. Yet when you make patience a part of your response, it keeps you in positive control.

Patience is not complicated or difficult to achieve. Simply step back, and take a few deep, relaxing breaths. Calmly know that you're far better off being patiently in control than you are if you're excitedly out of control. Reason, rather than scream. Think, investigate and consider, rather than jump to conclusions.

Have a little patience, and see that it can make all the difference in the world.

-- Ralph Marston

Persevere

The greatest accomplishments happen when you get just a little way beyond the point where others would have quit. The difference between someone who enjoys magnificent success, and someone who just managed to get by, is the willingness to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to reach the goal.

How far away are you, from reaching your destination? If you quit before you get there you are infinitely far away. Make the commitment to keep going, and suddenly you are almost there.

Go beyond where others are willing to go. Put in the extra effort. The time will pass anyway, whether you use it or now. It just makes sense to make the most out of every moment. Give a little more than others are willing to give, be a little more patient, have a little more curiosity, take a little more responsibility, learn a few more things, and it will make all the difference in the world.-- Ralph Marston

Well I am at work. I got here at 6 am. I am doing more overtime. We had a super busy weekend. Went to the inlaws overnight Saturday, FIL is not well. Then we got home yesterday at 11 am and did tons outside. Weeding edging, cleaned the pool, hubby finally got the veggie garden in. We managed to get the meat off of the barby just before the huge storm hit us. Tons of rain, thunder and lightening. My little dd had her last music recital yesterday. I am so glad no more music homework til September. Yippppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, but she did very well.. My yard looks awesome. Now we need some nice warm weather. I ate pretty well on the weekend. Saturday was not perfect but I was pleased. Yesterday was right on. I am going to Curves at lunch today so that is good.

I hope you all have a super day

Monday Morning---

We got home from the reunion. It was so much fun. Those people are all crazy and love to laugh and eat. The food was great. Don't ask for the details.

Mom is getting better every day. It was kind of shakey there for the first couple of days. But she's looking better. They had her up and in a chair less than 24 hours after the surgery. Whew! But that's the right way to do it. Get them moving. Now she has to get up to use the potty chair. So she'll gradually be getting up more and more. They will probably transport her back home tomorrow to a rehab center in the hospital in their town. I know Dad will be glad to get back with her. He has been at the hospital this whole time. The nurses love him and let him take showers there and everything else. He knows everyone from the cafeteria people to the security guards. He's quite a guy. Thanks for all your prayers and kind words. Please keep them up as Mom has a long way to go to get back on her feet.

Gotta scoot on out for work. Take care.

Hello everyone!!! Welcome to the beginning of a new week!! I am very excited. I usually forbid myself to step on the scale all week until WIW. Yesterday Selah was looking so big that I just had to know how much she weighed. so I decided I would get on the scale without her and then with her and count the difference. Can you immagine how excited I was to step on that thing and see that I have lost 6 pounds since last Wed!!!!! I almost died! That puts me at 179!! I never thought I would see the 170's before the wedding!! I am sooo excited. I am now only 3 lbs heavier than when we got married 2 1/2 years ago, and I could pull out some of my old size 14s and the fit great!!! I'm wearing them now. After 2 weeks of staying the same, I guess those lgs toke the hint and took a hike. Only 19 more to goal1.
BTW Selah still is only 13-14 lbs. She was 13lbs 4 oz at 4mos and she is now 5 1/2 mos. She just looks so big sitting up and starting to scoot. I could have sworn she had to be 15!!!

This week is going to be just as crazy as the last, so I am going to really have to focus to stay OP. I did it all last week, and I know I can do it again.Today and Wed I am babysitting from 11 to 7. I watch 3 boys (7,9,11 years old) on a pretty regular basis. For the summer I will be watching them every mon and wed. The 9 year old, Kyle is hearing impaired, and I know ASL so they pay me $11 an hour and I get to take Selah with. PRetty good deal, huh? They even have a pool in the back yard, so I can get some rays while they swim. Oh yeah, I even got into my old bathingsuit, which I loved and will never find one I like so much again! Tuesday I'm watching the boys all AM and have a Dr appt in the afternoon (my DH picked up some foot fungus somewhere and passed it on to me. I am soooo embarassed!!) Then tomorrow PM Trav's sister is graduating from college. Thurs through SUn we are camping in Nashville with my whole family. ANYONE seen 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding'? That's us. Everyone who knows my family thinks so. It will be a fun trip. I organize it every year, and we meet in Nashville be cause it's in the middle for us all. I am going to go to Sam's club this AM to get all of the food, and I am going to stah as SB legal as I can.

Let's just hope I can resist the Smore's this time!!!!!

Monet - You are so awesome!!! Thank you so much for all of the info on the thyroid issue. That's one more thing that makes me think we should get together so I can glean some of your wisdom! I am due for a check upon my Thyroid next month, so I think I will take you up on that refferal! I am crazy this week, and broke since I'm getting food for 23 people! Can we go to lunch next week, and go shopping? Your toe sounds so painful. I hope you are doing ok at work. Get some rest this afternoon!

Cathlaur - you are doing so great on this WOE with working so much overtime. It really encourages me to see how you fit in the eating and the exercise with working so much OT.

Gotta go

Congrats on the 6 pounds!! That is so exciting! :cb:

I certainly hope you like your job with all the overtime your packing in!

This week I am going to only have starchy carbs for breakfast. I NEED to get under 200 pounds. I've been trying to do this for months and have been hovering at 203. I did do an amazing thing, I had spagetti and meatballs for supper yesterday and had no bread with it! For me thats a feat because I love to dip bread in the sauce. But I realised I was double carbing so I didn't do it.

I was a little pig all weekend long. Not sure what got into me. I can't even blame circumstances or others...I just plain dug into the trough and barely came up to breath. Good food ...no no's...all of it. I am back on track this morning and deteremined to start working toward goal again. It seems like it will never get here. I get close...mess up...vicious circle. :)

WTG Talitha!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6 pounds outta there! :D

Cherylco...praying you get under that 200 mark soon. If will happend before you know it. I remember waiting for 199...it was one of my first major goals.

I need to get these kids back to their lesson. Catch ya'll later.

Hi All: Last night Serene came over and cooked burgers on the grill, I had cooked brocolli and whole wheat organic mac & cheese, and made the sf dessert - we ate and watched some of the Tonys - I was feeling a bit better - I think it is a Summer Cold for sure....

Meanwhile, I started reading my Shape magazine last night and I will try to scan an article to post on our board - it was very interesting about stress eating... and how to battle it... if you have the magazine, it is definitely a good article to read!!! I forgot to bring it in my rush to get to work, so tomorrow I will try and scan it and post it.... As well as this article, there were lots of packing lunch meal recipes that were totally SB legal....

Quilter - Glad to hear your mom is on the mend!!!! YAHOOO!!!!!
A good sigh of relief for you, though I know it will be just the beginning of physical therapy and all, but like you said it is great they got her up and moving....

Bob- I had gotten rid of AOL - it seems when I deleted the program I did something, some kind of boo boo - so I reinstalled AOL, and ta da - I could post again....strange...wonder what file it was it shared?

Talitha - Congrats on the loss, I bet you did a Happy Dance with the baby!!!!! hahaha - that is wonderful, I know how happy you must feel - keep up the good work - before you know it you will be one slinky fit gal!!!!

I better run - at work - take care all!!!

Hi Gang!

I'm still hanging around. Just real busy lately.

After starting out so good with the Power 90 workouts, I didn't do them for almost a week, so I started my 90 days over last Monday. I now have a full week under my belt!:D My eating hasn't been the greatest, but at least I'm working out. We even went for a family bike ride last night after dinner. I haven't been on my bike in 10 years:o No wonder my fanny is sore today!

I think I lost about 5 lbs yesterday. I got my hair all chopped off! It was below my shoulders and is now just below my ears! But I was really excited yesterday when I tried on a skort that was OH SO TIGHT about 10 days ago and yesterday I could do up the zipper quite easily and I didn't feel I was being cut in half. So something's working.

TRANQUIL--Sorry you aren't feeling well. Summer colds are the worst. What issue of Shape are the lunch ideas in?

COUNTRY--C'mon, give us your hand and we'll help you back on the wagon. The good thing is you keep trying to get back on track and not giving up.

CHERYLCO--Congrats on not having the bread. It's difficult to change bad habits. Keep working on it and soon you'll be below 200!

TALITHA--WTG on 6lbs lost! That is great motivation to keep going!

QUILTER--So glad you had a great time at the reunion, but I'm also sorry to hear about your mom! Sounds like she's doing great. Sending good thoughts her way.

JACKK--How are you doing? Still thinking of you.

Ok, I gotta scoot. I'll pop in when I can.

It looks like everyone had a busy weekend. I am really tired here but then I have already been at work for 4 hours. In another hour or so I will head to Curves. That should wake me up.

Talitha congrats on 6 pounds wow. I would love that to happen to me. That is very exciting. Keep up the good work. I had to laugh about your babies weight. When my oldest dd was a baby she was soooooooooooooooooo fat. I mean it. Thank goodness she has slimmed down now ( she is 9) she weighed 24 pounds at 6 months:dizzy: :p :p :p Yes I know that is huge. She cannot beleive her baby pictures. I thought she was so cute.

Cheryl I am sure you will get out of the 200's soon. You are so close. I do like my job. It is never dull. I work in a Maximum Security Male Prison:dizzy: We are short staffed right now and have a sick co-worker ( breast cancer) so lots to do in my department. It is nice to get the extra money or time.

Well I am off again.

Hi to everyone else

I had a good weekend away with dd and 2 gs's. One gs was in the soccer tournament. He had four games and his team won two of them. The kids had a good time. All the team stayed in the same hotel so they had fun with a pizza party and swimming. I ate lots of good stuff but unfortunately not all op. I didn't have any pizza though as we went to the hotel buffet with some of the other parents Saturday night while the kids had their pizza party with a couple of the parents. Sunday I ate bread and french fries and chicken parmesan. I was a little afraid to get on the scale this morning but surprisingly I was down another pound. I'm keeping my fingers crosssed that it doesn't jump up tomorrow - hoping there is not a delayed reaction.:)

Kim - So sorry to hear about your Mom but glad the surgery went well and that she is recuperating well.

Talitha - Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's great that you are down six pounds since last week. WTG. :cp:

Cherylco - Hope you break that 200 pound barrier soon. I know the frustration. I was stuck at 200 for over 18 months just fluctuating up and down a couple of pounds. It is only just this past month that I have started to lose again and that is because I have cut down drastically on starchy carbs. but have been taking in lots of other carbs, mainly the low gi ones.

Well have to go take the laundry out of the drier and get showered. Have badminton at noon to-day and lawn bowling this evening if the weather stays fine.

Bye for now.

Marie.

Good morning everyone.

I was pleasantly surprised this morning.....I wasn't going to weigh myself until Friday but I thought after the weekend I should check and see how much I gained so that I know how much harder I have to work this week....and guess what? I was actually down another pound....well it was quivering but it was on the down side instead of the up side.
I am psyched! It looks like I may be on my way.

It is only 10:38 and I am hungry. I keep forcing myself not to eat anything until my next meal. I have had some carrots this morning though. I am craving carbs today. I am usually very tired on Mondays and that is when I crave the carbs the most.
I have a FF Bologne sandwich on Rye bread for lunch. I also have some baked chips :fr: I know they aren't legal on SB but since I am also doing Weight Watchers points I can have them but I am limited myself to them only once a week. I make them a treat. The same goes for my Oat Bran pretzels. Even though they are legal I still am only going to have them once a week if possible.

Sheanne: HAPPY BIRTHDAY :hb: Hope you have a wonderful day.

Talitha: Isn't it great when you can start wearing clothes in your closet that haven't seen the light of day for a while. I have this one old pair of jeans that have holes in them EVERYWHERE but I won't throw them out. They are my fat meter. I know I have lost all my weight when I can put these on!

Cherylco: You can do it!!!!!!

Katie: OMG What do you do at the prison? Are you a guard?

Quilter: Happy to hear your Mom is doing better.

Sorry about not getting to everyone......got to get busy at work.

Oh, does anyone have an idea for scallops. I am making them for dinner on Wednesday night and I am out of ideas.

Good Monday morning all:

My weekend went well, and I did pretty well. I overate a little bit, but only with legal foods. My husband had corrective eye surgery on Friday, so we stayed close to home this weekend. He's doing great this morning, and no more messing with glasses or contacts!! I'm so happy for him.

To all you chronic scale-hounds out there: How much does your weight fluctuate throughout the day? I NEVER weigh during the day, only every morning when I get up (which is still probably too much). Anyway, Saturday late afternoon, I just jumped on for the heck of it; it said 134 (I'm down to 130 weighing in the mornings). Could there truly be that much of a fluctuation being dressed and after eating a few meals????

Didn't work out much last week; I did take a Yoga class Thursday. BUT, I was in the process of switching gyms to find a decent childcare facility for my children when I am working out.

I am going to have to do really good this week with my eating; I will be eating out three times over 1 week. A group of moms are getting together to go to Olive Garden tomorrow night. I think the eggplant parmigiana is my best choice out of the choices given. The girls and I will be taking my husband out for a Father's Day dinner on Sunday, and then I am going to take my dad out to dinner next Tuesday for Father's Day (a tradition). Whew, I hope I don't gain 5 pounds in a week.

I wanted to post a few things about food (to help any newbies out there), if I have time; the baby is waking up:

Shelton's Pot Pies: Didn't expect much, but found some and tried them, and they are DELICIOUS!! I was pleasantly surprised, and will definately keep them on hand.

La Tortilla tortillas - I love to keep these around.

I have a recipe for home-made peanut butter cups (made with splenda) that I will post later. They are delicious, and I make them in the tiny little cups, so they are great for a quick fix.

I love the Blue Bunny Weight Smart fudgesicles. They are low in fat, calories and no added sugar.

I also love the Blue Bunny Lite 85 yogurt. I add a little bit of Gram's Gourmet nut/whey/granola type (no sugar added). It gives it a little crunch.

I also order a mudslide cappuccino mix from Low-carb Connouisseur (sp?) with no sugar added; I get the mocha mudslide. I mix about an ounce of this with 1 ounce sugar free chocolate syrup and add 8 ounces of milk and ice cubes and this makes a filling drink that cools me off during the day. I really missed my Starbucks and this is a real close second and totally legal. The mix is a little pricey (around $13, I think), but I only use one oz at a time so it lasts a really long time.

That's all I can think of off the bat, but I know there are others. I will try to remember for my next post.

Sheanne: Happy Birthday week!

Kim: Glad you enjoyed your reunion. I am so happy to hear that your mom is doing better. I hope she continued to improve over the next days/weeks.

Talitha: CONGRATULATIONS on your loss!! It feels so good doesn't it? I know what you mean about seeing the low numbers on the scale. I am within 6 pounds of being what I was when I got married nearly 10 years ago, and 2 kids later. I have a baby who is going to be one year old in July and a 5-year old. I really want them to be proud of their mommy, and I want to be healthy enough to be around for them for many years to come. Let your loss be your guide to stay on plan this week. NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS BEING THIN FEELS!!!!!

Susanne: Way to get back on track with the exercise!! You are probably losing inches from exercising and that is why your skort is fitting better. You are probably losing pounds too, but I believe you said you are not weighing but once a month (what willpower). Keep up the good work.

Marie: At least you didn't gain with your little splurge. I seem to find that if I am true to the plan 95% of the time that those few little splurges don't affect me too much. I think as long as it is in moderation, we will all do fine.

Well, the baby is not playing in her crib anymore; she wants breakfast.

Will touch base later. Have a great day!!!

Good Monday Morning Everyone:wave:

Cooling down, got a late start for my walk today. Lucky that I even went. Not only was I pooped since I didn't fall asleep til late, but I had a stabbing pain for a while and waited until THAT subsided. Got out and did my 4.5 miles but sure took me long 1 hour 4.5 minutes. I was dragging my butt! It's so HOT out there!!!

Woke up so thirsty today. Guess my lack of drinking water is catching up with me. I've already had 1.5 liters! Eating was good this weekend with the exception of eating too many legal carbs-waaaay to many. Just one of those weekends where it seemed nothing filled me up!

Kids get out of school early the next 3 days so my days are shorter to get things I need to done. Actually have an hour before I have to leave. Technically they get out at 12:30pm but lunch starts at 11:45am and they can leave anytime thereafter.

Didn't do all that much this weekend to talk about.

Want to jump in and get in some replies while I can...

CAT, sounds like you had a busy weekend. What instrument does your DD play? You want warm weather eh? I'd be happy to send you some from down here-though it's more like brutal heat then warm. But heck, I'm willing to share;)

QUILTER, glad to hear DM is doing better, man, they didn't let her rest after that surgery did they!?! I guess the faster you get them up the better. Sounds like you had a good time at the reunion - no details on the food I guess:s:

TALITHA, WOW, what an awesome weight loss!! YOU GO GIRL!:bravo: You have found that patience pays off and though you were stuck for 2 weeks you were greatly awarded for your dedication:D That's so cool that you know ASL! Did you teach yourself or go to school? That's great money for kid sitting, I know my daughter makes some nice $$ when she does it . Icky on the foot fungus! Nothing like sharing!!!!

CHERYL, good going with the sketti & meballs without the bread. You'll get under that 200lb mark soon enough, just stay focused and you'll do it!:)

COUNTRY, I too over ate this weekend, all OP but too many carbs, that's for sure. I've done the same thing and also wonder why, as we get close to goal it gets harder to stay focused when here it is, all we've worked for and want right in our reach we make it harder to get there. Same thing when we get there, we start gaining some of it back - if I could figure this $64K question I'd probably be richer than that!

TRANQUIL, glad you and SERENE had a good Sunday. LAUREN & I watch the Ton'ys as well, there wasn't anything else to watch on the TV. I get SHAPE but haven't been able to read that or any of the other mags I have handy-will try to do so, maybe today.

ZANNE, you'd think with all the technology they could make a better and more softer bike seat. I bought a bike 2 years ago and rode it twice. I even changed the seat for a bigger one, still bothered me. I think someone needs to make a decent size seat that has one of those memory cushions in it, like the pillows and mattresses where it would conform to your butt! Great going with the skort. You'll have to post a pic of the new doo! I need to have mine done!!!

ROSALIE, sounds like you AND the kids had a good weekend. Down another pound - awesome:clap: Seems like it's been moving in the right direction as of late!!!

JANE, CONGRATS on being down another pound. Seems like the combo is working for you!

PANCHO, absolutely, your weight can fluctuate even more than that! Clothes, water, water retention, foods that you've eaten, constipation problems, it all adds up! What kind of yoga are you taking? Glad to see you found the pot pies and like them as well. How much do you have to pay for them there. Having one for lunch today myself:) Sounds like you have a yummy array of stuff there!

Okay gals, I'm starting to ferment here. Have to go jump in the shower. Will check in later!!!

Have a great week!

Hi everyone,

Well, I did go to the funeral after all. I didn't fall off of the wagon so much as I was *pushed*

On Thursday, we had the drive down. I should have packed myself an OP lunch, but we were so rushed to leave I didn't get a chance. Needless to say, we ended up stopping at a place where there was nothing I could eat - not even a salad! So I did the best I could with an egg salad sandwich on their homemade dark rye.

Friday, oh let me tell you - we spent the day with another relative of DH, and it was even worse food-wise! Lunch was Subway and potato chips. I confess, I didn't want to look weird or ungrateful and just eat the middle out of the sandwiches, so I ate the darn thing.

Friday night we went to dinner at a Polish buffet. I was surrounded by potato pancakes, cabbage rolls stuffed with beef and rice, you name it! I think I ate a couple of chicken wings, some polish sausage, and cauliflower.

Saturday was more of the same, but I did better at the German restaurant. They had beef and chicken and salad! I passed on the mashed potatoes and bread, so that was a good meal for a change! :chin:

We got back yesterday, and boy am I :tired:. We still haven't told anyone I'm expecting a :bb:, but at least I got to sleep in the long car ride there and back.

The memorial and funeral were all very touching, and DH's relatives were nice.

That's about it for now. I'm struggling to get back OP today, especially since I'm starting to get food cravings, aversions, and feeling a touch of nausea here and there. It's all a good thing, but still... :?:

Back to work for now! Hugs to all! :grouphug:

Boy I am sure glad to be back on here. It was the longest weekend of my life. I am sure glad I have a job to come to. At least it keeps my mind busy.

Won't even discuss eating since Thursday. Putting it behind me. Back on track today.

i did get my walks in 3 days last week. Yesterday we started out in the sun and went to a dept store and when we came out, it started to rain. It rained harder as we walked. Ended up jogging half way. As soonas we got home it really let loose. Don't guess I could have gotten any more wet. Oh well. I didn't melt.

WEd, after I got off here, I found out my DS took herself to the hospital with chest pains. They kept her overnight and let her out just in time to get to the funeral home. They didn't find anything. I think it was the stress and anxiety of the situation. She goes for a stress test today so I hope everything comes out ok.

Then our friend that had the bad accident a couple weeks ago, his father died Friday. So we had to go to the funeral home again yesterday.

I'm hoping for a much better week this week.

I know I have missed a ton of stuff since Thursday. Someone let me know if I missed anything important please.
Kim, Must have missed what happened to your mom. Mind telling me again. Keeping her and your family in my prayers.

Cathlaur, Sounds like a pretety busy weekend. WTG on your eating.

Talitha, Congrats on the 6 lbs. I bet you were excited. Sounds like you will have your hands full with all those boys. Yiur camping trip sounds like loads of fun. Good luck with your eating.

Cherylco, I must have missed your return. Welcome back. I'm doing w/o any starchy carbs for a few days. Hope it jump starts me. Good lkuck on getting under that 200 mark.

Country, We must have been in the same place this weekend. Lets hold hands and get back on track together. That goal is no far off for either one of us. We can do it.

Tranquil, I bet we could check out that article on their web site. If I get some time, I will look for it. Your evening with Serene sounds fun. Hope you are feeling better.

Zanne, WTG on that skirt fitting better. That is such a good feeling.

Rosalie, Glad you had a nice weekend. Hoping that the scale stays down for you.

Jane, glad the scale is moving for you. If you are hungry,m why not try some fruit? You don't want to starve yourself, then you might go over-board at your next meal.

Pancho, Glad your DH's surgery went well. Sure wish I could have that done. I hate glasses. Can't wear contacts due to wearing bifocals. It is amazing how your wt can fluctuate during the day and each day. Deb posted an article awhile back about that. It was very interesting. I may be on one of the other boards.

Deb, glad to see you are back on track and doing well. Hopefully when school is out you will have more free time. I bought that book, Thin Tastes Great. I am really enjoying it. A lot of things like SB and a lot of info to keep you on track.

Jenn, sounds like a whirlwind weekend with relatives and food. Hope you are back on track today. it is so hard to get there after bad eating. I know.

Have a great day.

Morning all!

I see the board has been busy this morning! I've been busy too. The next two weeks will be very hectic for me with VBS starting one week from today. I'll get on when I can.

Cathlaur--Sounds like you had a busy weekend!

Kim--Glad to hear that your DM is revoering and will be coming home tomorrow! I know that will make life for everyone a little easier.

Talitha--WOOOHOOO on the 6lbs! You go girl! You will look fabulous dahlink at the wedding.

Cherlyco--Good luck on breaking that 200 lb barrior! I know you can do it.

CountryMom--Me too on being a piggy this weekend. Anything and everything. So I'm following in your tracks this am and back OP!

Sabrina--Hope that summer cold is outta here soon! They are the worst! Sounds like you had a good day yesterday!

Zanne--WTG on the skirt! I bet you look great with your new shorter haircut too!

Marie--I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that there is no delayed reaction for you! But hey--a lb is a lb--WTG!

JenninMN--Oof Da! Good thing you didn't tell them your news--if they are like my relatives, they would have REALLY stuffed you at that point ("you have to eat for the baby"). Here's a little tip about Subway--they will make any sandwich into a salad for you. That way you can eat the "inside" of the sandwich on top of lettuce and it doesn't look weird!

Deb--WTG on getting out in the heat this am! I did 12 situps before I got out of bed this morning. I have a great aunt that just turned 105 and she did 100 situps before getting out of bed for years (she still does 30 every morning). So I've decided to emulate her--though I will have to work up to the 100!

Pancho--Yes on the fluctuation! It matters what time of day you weigh so try to do it at the same time of day so you get a true sense of the movement!

Jane--WTG on the pound! THE WW/SB combination seems to be really helping you! I'm thrilled for you!:)

Time to get to work! Have a great Op day everyone!

Hi everyone.. it seems like such a busy weekend was had by all with many ups and downs. I attended a wedding on Sat and the bride became very ill with sun stroke. She missed most of the reception and even had a spell in the hospital. I felt so bad for her. I certainly went a wee bit overboard at the dinner and even had a sliver of wedding cake. I am really concentrating on not letting the odd incident of over eating be a big deal. Before I would berate myself so badly it inevitably led to a binge. Today I upped my treadmill workout and have been more careful with portion control.
Let's have a great week.... Lori

Hey All:wave:

Just got up from trying to lie down and get rid of a massive headache. I thinks it's due to the heat. It started before I left to get the kids but it was so light I didn't think too much of it. By the time MICHAEL got in the car, later than expected, I was really feeling not only the massive throbbing and tension feeling in my head and neck but like I was going to be sick. If anyone's experience one of those "I was out too long in the heat" headaches, you'll understand. All I had to eat, which was on my way to the school, was an Asian pear. That came up while driving - thank gawd I had an old SB cups at hand! I couldn't take anything to help me because if I had it would of promptly come back up. Just took something but I know it wasn't a good idea on an empty stomach, I get some "this is eating at your stomach" type pains when I do so. At this point having those pains vs the headache, I'll take the pain.

I had to get up anyhow, promised LAUREN I would take her shopping for a top to wear for a banquet she has tomorrow - nothing like the last second, her fault, not mine. Asked her if she got a top for a skirt she bought this morning-was told no:nono:

Going to get in replies to posts since I last posted while I wait...:chin:

JENN, I think you did just fine. The combo of the egg salad brought down the GI of the bread. You didn't do so bad on everything else, considering once again what "could of been!" You could of done a lot worse, so I give you a gold star. :cp:

JACKK, glad to have you back, we missed you. Thank goodness they didn't find anything wrong with your sister, as you mentioned it was probably the stress of everything that was happening. Sorry to hear about your friends Dad as well. I think you've had enough funerals to deal with for a long time. Geez, wouldn't it be nice if rain DID melt us. I'd be thin, esp. being here in Miami. Glad you are liking the book, I haven't had time to read more lately but will try to pick it up tonight if I'm feeling better.

FILLISE, is it THAT time again for VBS? I remember when you first posted that longgg ago I couldn't figure out what the heck that meant! WOW, your Aunt is 105!!!!!!!!! My great-grandfather lived to be a 105! Heck I can't do 30 sit-ups at MY age! That's amazing!!! I hope you send her picture to Willard Scott for being a Smuckers birthday girl when it rolls around!

GRIN, just read about the bride and BOY, can I relate! What a terrible thing to happen to anyone, but poor thing, on her wedding! Don't beat yourself up over anything like a small piece of cake - now, if we were talking about eating pieces over and over, that's another story. I'm sure it won't bother you a bit.

Okay, I'm outta here-going to get ready to take LAUREN before it gets too late. She just got a call to go babysit later, so I have to take her now, whether I feel up to it or not.

Toodles

Zanne - I am pretty sure it was this month's issue, it has goldish/bronzish print on the front with a very tanned girl....it was page 123 or so...not sure, but it had some good pack your lunch ideas....

Ros - Well hop back on, at least you enjoyed yourself this weekend - you can get back on track today :)

Jane - GOOD JOB!!!! Congrats on the loss.

Pancho - I like the Shelton's too - What part of Arizona? I used to live in Tucson....still have family there as well - as well as in Snowflake....

JackK - GREAT TO SEE YA ON BOARD!!!!! Hope your DS is okay.... you take care of yourself!!!!!! Don't sweat the eating, Sugar Busters' wagon will be waiting for you!!!!!!

Deb - HI!!!!! I really enjoyed the article in the Shape magazine about stress eating too.....along with the recipes..... noticed that they are giving more ideas of healthy snacks but using Whole Wheat!!! Good move to Shape magazine!!!!!

Grin - Wow, what a sad thing to happen, to end up at the hospital on your wedding day!!! Well, that is great that you have increased your exercising...I am going to talk myself into going to an aerobic class this month...

Fillise - Have fun with VBS!!!! Keep posting too.....

Jenn - Oh I remember the food aversions (especially smells) - I feel for you with the nausea.... If it gets really bad, just remember that is a good sign :) that was what my doctor said...

I better get to work, just got caught!!! Oooops....oh well, as I have said before, I don't take smoke breaks, so I should be allowed SBer Breaks.

Getting ready to head home. Both DD's play VB tonight at 6:00 so Dh will have dinenr ready when I get home so we can run up there to watch. THen we will stay for several softball games afterwards. So probably no exercise tonight unless I walk around the school building.

Grin, What a horrible way to spend your wedding day. Hopefully one day they will look back on it and laugh. Getting back on track is the secret.

Fillise, Those situps are probably what's keeping your aunt going to 105. Got to keep movin. VBS will keep you so busy. Hope you have some time for us.

Deb, Poor thing. Headache and getting sick in the car. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Tranquil, glad to see back. I agree, we should get SB breaks if we don't smoke.

Have a great evening everyone.

Jackie.

Told ya I was gonna try to do better this week keeping up with posts...so far so good...:D I really missed ya'll last week. I think when I stay away it gives me the liberty to not be as OP as I should. I lost that aco****ability. So far so good today. I am REALLY REALLY wanting to have just a bite of this and just a bite of that but, no way till I get these cravings back under control.

((Jack-K)) Thanks for that hand. You are right we are so close and will get there.

Susan....come on..we'll do it this week...sticking to plan. Nothing like a buddy to drag ya along.

Sabrina...LOL Love it...SB break. It should be a new policy in the job place.

Deb...WTG getting out there walking. Hope you are feeling better. I know it's just too hot to be outside here. I went and pulled some weeds earlier and ran back in to the AC.

Jenn...come join us....several of us were wagon jumpers this weekend. Back on track to good health....and for you a smooth pregnancy. ((hugzz))

Pancho...scale hound here...LOL My weight is usually about 2 pounds heavier during the day and at night unless I've eaten poorly. Then I can have as much as 4 pounds of water gain in a day.

Jane...WTG starting to drop those pounds.

Gotta get and start dinner. This crew is used to eating pretty early. Ya'll have a wonderful evening.

Love,
Crystle

Well here I sit this afternoon. Hopeing and praying this is a new start for me. I slowly drifted away from SB and gained about 10 lbs. back. Today I realized that I'm so hungry from eating carbs that nothing will stop my wanting them unless I get my butt up and get back on SB NOW!!!!! I expect everyday for the next couple of weeks to be a real struggle for me but here I go one hour at a time. I'm so glad to see so many of my old friends here and so many new ones to. I hope I'm welcomed back among you all!!! So wish me luck and here I goooooooo......

Hey everyone.

Sorry to be posting so late since I normally post once in the mornings. I got up later than I had expected to, and had to go pick up my allergy med, make an appointment for the 3 girls to get some allergy meds, and then I went to the school to see what I have to do to get them ready for the fall. I'm trying to get things done now so I can send them to their grandma's for a week or two.

We took the girls fishing Saturday. It was fun. The oldest 1 caught 1 fish and had another 1 or 2 get off her hook, the middle one caught 2, but had about 2 get off her hook later on. The youngest one didn't get anything, cause hubby only put a bobber on her line, good thing too or we'd all have been in the E.R. having hooks removed! They all had a good time, and weren't ready to leave when hubby decided it was time to go.

Why are weekends the hardest? I had too many no-no's over the weekend.

Well it's getting later and later, and I need to get my lazy rear in gear and get dinner started. I'll talk to y'all later.

Well, we went camping this weekend and I ate everything in sight every chance I got! Needless to say, I'm up several pounds. I'm back on the wagon though. Today I'm trying my best to stay away from any starchy carbs and I'm drinking lots of water. For breakfast I had a NSA yogurt with an orange and for lunch I had an omelette(2 eggs, 1 slice ham and 1 slice cheese). For a snack I had a cucumber, 3 slices of tomato with mayo and a teaspoon of PB. Supper will be baked chicken with squash and tomatoes, green beans. Although I'm up quite a few pounds, I'm motivated-go figure. I've realized I'm sick of eating right and losing a pound or 2 then sabatoging it. Plus, we plan on going to Destin the weekend after the 4th of July- I plan on having this weight gain off and about 8-10 pounds more! I've wasted too much time fooling around. Anyway, the kids had a blast at the lake this weekend. Boogie loved the jet ski(it was our friend's). Robby let him hold the handles and when he got off, he smiled ear to ear and said " Me Drive!" Okay, I need to get off this computer and go exercise...

Hello all:

I thought I'd try to get one more post in today since I won't be on the computer at all tomorrow. I have a dr. appt. in the a.m., and then we are meeting some friends for lunch, and then my daughter has a tumbling class at 4:45, and then I have to bring her home and get ready to go out to a function with my Mom's Club. It is going to be a non-stop day.

Anyway: Here is a recipe I had when doing Atkins, but it is SB legal, and is really good for when you have a sweet craving (if you can keep yourself from eating too many - ha). You can make them in the mini candy cups (which is what I do) or in the bigger cupcake cups.

PEANUT BUTTER CUPS:

1 stick unsalted butter
1 oz unsweetened chocolate
1/3 cup splenda granular
1 T heavy cream
4 T peanut butter (all natural like Laura Scudder's)
Chopped nuts of your choice (optional)

Line your muffin tins with liners/cupcake papers, and sprinkle some of the chopped nuts on the bottom of the papers (if you want). Melt butter and chocolate in the microwave. Stir in splenda and then the cream and peanut butter. It's going to be really runny. Pour the chocolate mixture in the tins. Freeze them until firm. These need to be stored in the freezer because they melt quickly. You can eat them right out of your freezer.

I calculated the calories on this once; I believe there is around 1300 in the entire recipe (divide by however many you get out of the recipe). I usually get over 20, so they break out to be around 60 calories each. Not so bad if you only eat one or two. They are DELICIOUS!! Hope you enjoy. I sometimes add some unsweetened coconut to the mixture for a yummy chewier texture.

Jane8760: Congrate on that pound down; maybe it'll be 2 by WIW.

Debelli: I found the pot pies at a new store that just opened here; it is a farmer's market called Sprouts. We are very lucky here in the Phoenix area to have Trader Joe's, Wild Oats, and now Sprouts. None of them carry the Agave nectar though. I hope your headache is better by now. Baby yourself a little bit.

Jack-K: Glad you are back; I certainly hope your week is an upbeat one!!!

Lori: You have a good attitude. If you are going to eat this way for life, you can't let an occasional splurge upset you especially if it is a special occasion. You are at least staying healthy for the most part and allowing yourself something "naughty" on certain occasions. Better than eating that way all the time, and trying diet after diet to lose it. I feel the same way. I think I am on plan 90-95% of the time, and the other 5-10% I'm not, and that's fine by me.

Tranquil: I live in the Anthem/New River area (north of the valley). Snowflake is really pretty. Do you get to the valley much to visit?

Toni48: Good luck getting back on track. It's tough at first, but you will be so happy with yourself once you get back into the swing of things and lose that 10 pounds you've re-discovered. This is the best place to be for the support you need.

Jecrites: How fun to go fishing with the kids. My oldest (she's 5) keeps saying she wants to go fishing. We are going to have to do that soon. I went fishing a lot as a kid, and loved it!

Heartmom: Good luck getting back on track. Don't you sometimes think if we never went anywhere we'd all be really thin? HA HA. I have this trip coming up and as much as I am looking forward to it, I keep thinking about how hard I've worked on losing this weight, and how easy it would be to gain some of it back. Oh well, we do our best; we're only human.

I hope to get in on Wed. to catch up on posts, and to post my WIW weight. I am going to Olive Garden tomorrow and plan to have salad and Eggplant parmigiana, and maybe a glass of wine. I'm sure I'll be up at least a pound on Wed.

Take care all!

Hi everyone! I had to work this morning from 6 to 11. I had quite a dilemna about what shoes to wear and how to get my very sore toe into them. I managed, but barely. By 11, I was in agony! I took my son's roommate to my doctor and asked him to check my toe while I was there. That man is such a riot! He waltzed in and told me without looking at it that he was going to have to amputate it! He said it was bruised, and the trauma caused the toenail to become ingrown and get infected. It was awfully bad, and he numbed it and lanced it and cauterized it. The ghoul seemed to enjoy it. Thankfully, it was not too painful.

My son's roommate finally found out what was causing her problems. She had been having numbness in her legs, and pain. He got the MRI results her other doctor never bothered to give her...she has a herniated disc. She was so relieved to find out what was wrong...and he gave her a note to be out of work for two weeks. She starts vacation in two weeks and will have a month off to recover some before resuming her work schedule. (she is my manager in the bakery....) Hopefully by then, the neurosurgeon will have begun treatment for the disc problems.

So, I am sitting here with my poor foot up on the pillow on the open drawer of my desk still...the pain is awful. The doctor told me not to wear closed shoes for a week. So I called the store and told them. The stupid assistant store manager tells me that I can come to work in my birkenstock sandals with socks! He is nuts! The law says closed toe shoes for the bakery! Like I am going to be able to walk around even in sandals with socks for a few days! Now I have to get up at 5 and call my manager and tell him I will not be in.

TALITHA: That is awesome about the six pounds! Your babysitting job sounds like just the kind of job for a mom of a small baby! The pool is quite a perk! Next week will be fine! I usually only work until 11, so 1ish would be best. That gives me time to get home and changed. Send me a private message and we can decide when and where. Have fun on your camping trip!

JENN: Sounds like you did very well while you were on the road and out of town. I hope you never get too much nausea! That was the only drawback of being pregnant for me!

FILLISE: I feel for you preparing for VBS! Once it is over, you need a trip to SpaMonet to relax! You will certainly deserve it!

COUNTRY: Oh, man...I have been awful today. I had two cans of full sugar soda today even! That is SO not like me! I feel like such an oinker! I need to get back OP fast! :(

I am just too tired and sore to keep typing... To all I missed, I am sorry! I will really try to catch up more later...I am just not able to sit here anymore. The joints are screaming louder than the toe now! :yikes:

COUNTRY: For the crust: 2 cups ww pastry flour, 1 t salt, 1 1/2 sticks butter - cut the butter in until the flour mixture resembles coarse meal. Mix 2 ice cubes with about 1 cup water. Add a little cold water to the flour mixture and stir, repeating until it forms a ball. Add ONLY enough water to form the ball. Divide into two, roll one out on floured board and press gently into pie pan. Roll second piece out for top crust. For filling: two or three rome or other cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced. Add 1 t cinnamon, a dash of lemon juice, and equivalent of 1/2 cup sugar of desired sweetner. (I use agave, or even fructose) Top with second crust, crimp edges, poke a couple vent holes and bake at 375 degrees until crust is baked and filling bubbly, about 40 minutes. You can sub blueberries, cherries, peaches or whatever for the fruit....

Hope that helps...Its how I make pies all the time. I don't have an actual recipe.....

I weigh myself in the morning before I eat. I notice that my weight can go up and down 3 to four pounds during the day. It helps to remind me to not eat junk to see my weight all the time. Thanks for the peanut butter cup recipe I'm sure the kids will love it, me too.

I cannot believe you do all that mileage in that Florida heat! I'd pass out!!

I think you did pretty darn good considering. Subway will make you a "breadless sandwich" just pick your sandwich and tell them no bread.

Well tonight I went over a friend's house for dinner - had a greek salad...then I got home and I was starving - I waited, drank some iced tea - nope, still starving, so I gave in and ate the leftovers from last nights dinner...so though I over ate tonight - it was legal....

Monet - Wow!!! That is a pretty funny story, though so cringingly painful...ouch!!! You poor thing!!! That just sounds so awful to have to go through, thank goodness the doctor had such a good sense of humor about it and took care of it for you right then and there...bet after all that there was some relief? I hope! And, don't blame you for not wanting to come in after that, even if you are wearing sandles!!! hahaha Hope it heals quickly now!!!!

Pancho - I have not been to Arizona for quite a while. A couple of years ago I was going driving in to the Northern rim of the canyon from Vegas to find out it was still closed with snow - this being the first week of May, I was surprised...and that was the last time I saw Arizona..... I think it would be a lot of fun to take my son to visit my family there .... he has been as far west as Arkansas....it probably is totally unrecognizable since I was there in the late 80s...people tell me how far they live now outside of the valley and it cracks me up!!! I just cannot imagine....Catalina was a little tiny town with a post office/fire station/police station/convenient store all wrapped up in one, and now it is booming with homes! I know a bunch of people who must of wracked up the money on the cost of their land up there....oops, I rambled!!! sorry!!!

Toni!!!! Great to see you!!!! I got off track for awhile too...but, I am back in full force again...well trying my best that is!!!!

JackK - Thanks, I am glad to be back on the wagon too....and back on the board more regularly....

Well, hello to those I have missed, got to get upstairs and start ironing for tomorrow, plus I have a blood test at 7:45 a.m. - yuch!!!

Good evening!! Babyditting went pretty well. I took the boys toi their guitar lessons, we played dominoes, we swam while Selah took her nap ( I did several laps, but didn't count :( ), and since todayw as the eldest's b-day I took them to Mc-D's for McFlurries and resisted the urge to get one for myself. I did have 2 bites of Brandon's. How could I resist the "but Miss Twefa don't you want ANY ICECWEEM!!' He just turned 7 and he dosn't realise yet that he could get me to do just about anything for his little 'Miss Twefa' requests!!!
I snacked all day long and had too many starches, but everyting was pretty much OP (except the 2 bites)

Watching them tomorrow, too, so I'm hoping to do some more laps. It felt great!

Here are some replies before I hit the sack....

Jane - I've never heard of Oat Bran Pretzels. They sound awesome! I'll have to look for them at Harry's. I have an awesome recipie for Chilli's Poblano's Rellenos with scallops. It's one of my top 5 favorite meals. Like, the one you request for your birthday? absolutely incredible! It's a somewhat spicy mexican style dish, but I can find it for you if you are interested?

Katie - I can see how you would love your job. It must be really rewarding. I had some employee's from the prison work program in NC when I lived there, and they were wonderful guys.

Cherylco - You can do it!!!!!!!!!!

Pancho - You'll have to tell me how your DH feels after a few weeks. I would love to have that done some time!!! I can only see for 5 inches in front of my face. It's pretty scary. What is your baby's name?

Marie - If I was there we could do the dance of joy together since we are both fitting into smaller clothes!!!

Deb - My best friend as a child was deaf. I don't know a lot, but remember enough to communicate with Kyle. He has an implant, but only got it 2 years ago, and still has trouble understanding, so we go back and forth between signing and speaking. I am actually remembering more and more as I go.

Jenn in MN - Travel is really hard but it sounds to me liek you did awesome!!!

Jecrites - I keep trying to talk travis into fishing, since we camp so much. He says he doesn't mind the fishing, but could never bring himself to gut the fish and eat them. I would do it if I could learn how!! I'm far from squeamish. When I lived in Bolivia we had to butcher a lamb, kill our own chickens..... I can handle fish!!

Toni48 - Welcome back!!!!!

Monet - I had my toe lanced once, and I did the same thing you did (going to work anyway) It was miserable!! What type of bakery do you work at. My brother needs a contact for a wedding cake. WE could sneak and make it with agave, just so I could have some at the wedding!!!

Sweet dreams all!!!!

WEll hey gang!! I actually tried working out to my new Richard Simmons DVD the other morning. I had to stop. Not because I was tired, I felt like an idiot pranicng around in my lving room watching this thing and trying to learn the moves. I remember ENJOYING aerobics. I live alone, no one is going to see me,..and yet, I felt like a goof. There is more to this than just popping in the dvd apparently.

Katie: So you are eating right and exercising while working overtime in OZ??? LOL, what do you do there? I've got a friend who works at the county jail, but that's more like "sort of" security.

TALITHA: I love your name. And ROCK ON, GIRLIE!! 6 lbs is outstanding!!

Those peanut butter cups AND the apple pie sound good. Too good. I think sweets are trigger foods for me. I can't eat just a little. Well, sometimes I can. But then I want more. Went to our local HFS loking for Shelton potpies and forgot the brand name. But they didn't have them. Next I'll try Knoxville. The Kroger sure doesn't carry them :(

I guess that's all for now!! I sent my sister the link to this boad so she could check it out...it's okay if she comes and plays, even if she's doing Atkins, isn't it? She said she saw something in the rules that made her wonder. LOL, I didn't read them, I read the posts to figure out what this gang was about. WOW, you girls have been busy posting today!! Looks like eveyone had a nice weekend. We had a nice time at my nephew, and cousins graduation party. I bought a bottle of wine, and had a small glass. Boy did it go to my head in this heat.

My Mom got back from Sis's house in Elko, so yesterday we went over and cultivated her garden before she put more water on it. I also helped her weed between the corn. Then didn't do much else.

Today I had to hit the cleaning pretty hard. Also worked out in the yard. Trying to get my last beds finished. Have some painting that needs done too. I added five pounds of tension to my upper body work out this morning, and boy was I sweating. It was hard. I usually do three sets of 25 on each exercise, but could only do sets of 20. But I sure felt good after I was done!

Sheanne-- Happy Birthday, hope it is especially nice for you!!

Cathlaur-- Sounds like you had a great week end. Sorry your FIL is not feeling well. My yard is almost finished. Time to mow the backs again. Never seem to get quite done!!

Quilter-- Glad to hear your Mom is doing well. My hubbie had a total hip replacement 2 years ago. You are right, they get them right up and moving. Lots of PT too. Bet your Dad is more than ready to get home.

Talitha-- Congrats of the big loss!! Isn't it wonderful to start feeling and looking so great!! Sounds like you will have your hands full with 3 boys. And the camping trip sounds like heaven.

Cherylco-- Way to go on not eating bread with the pasta. I was like that too. Just loved garlic bread with my pasta, and extra sauce for dipping. Don't you just get so full with the WW pasta?

Country-- Hang in there, and don't beat yourself up. Atleast you are back on track today. Did you ever try to figure out just why you sabotage yourself??

Tranquil-- Glad to hear you are feeling better. Glad you are able to post again. Puters are strange machines at times!! LOL.

Zanne--Way to go girl!! I never used to like exercising, but I sure do enjoy it now. I feel so good when I finish a work out. And just love what the results are, as you are finding out. Glad to hear the "skort' fits now!!

Rosalie-- Sounds like a good time was had by all. Drink lots of water, and I am sure the loss will stay.

Jane-- I am so glad that you are finally seeing some results. Your hard work is paying off. Congrats!!

Pancho-- Yes I think the scale can vary by that much. Think about all the you have put in your stomach, for the day. Plus all that your clothes weigh. Water by itself weighs quite abit. Still looking for the Pot Pies, but they sure do sound wonderful!!

Deb-- Man, I got to admire you. Walking and running in that heat. You are sure dedicated!! I sure hope you are feeling better by now. That headache doesn't sound good.

Jenn-- I think you did pretty well, I know it could have been a whole lot worse. Just jump back on the wagon today, and you are on your way again. Hope the nausea goes away soon.

Jack-k-- Glad you are back. Boy, when it rains, it pours huh? (No pun intended) Hope your DS will be okay.

Fillise--Hello!

Grin-- That is a great attitude to have. If we are in this for life, then we must live evey once in awhile. How sad that the bride had to miss most of her reception.

Jec-- I LOVE FISHING!! Glad that the girls had a great time. We are getting our boat ready to take down now. Probably be early next week. I never want to leave either.

Heartmom-- Glad you had a good time camping. Climb right back on that old wagon, and drink your water!!

Monet-- Ouch!! That cure sounds painful even if it wasn't. I sure hope that they are more on the ball with your son's roommate than they were with Dh. It took them forever to do anything. He started doctoring in Nov, and didn't have surgery til April. Hope your foot heals quickly.

It is late, and I am going to bed. See all of you tomorrow night!!
Sweet dreams.

Hi everyone. Well I had a super busy day yesterday and lived to tell about it. LOL. I worked 10 hours, went to Curves at lunch, then went home. Got the lawn cut, the rose garden fixed( it needed some peat moss) got the girls to their tennis lesson, then hubby and I had one afterwards ( which was very fun) I was in bed by 9:45 and up at 5:00 and to work for 6 am. Yikes even I am tired after I read that . I ate well yesterday and am doing pretty good. I am wearing pants I could not last year. So that is something. I am really trying to exercise everyday to see if that will help.

Arcayne you made me laugh. Yes I am eating right and exercising. It is kind of like OZ here. I was a Correctional Officer. Now I interveiw the offenders after they are sentenced and decide what programs they need and where they should be transferred to . It is never boring.

Talitha it sounds like you are really really busy. I like to be busy. Have fun baby sitting again to day.

Sheanne morning!

Quilter-- Keep us posted on your mom. I am glad that she seems to be healing well. That is so scary

Talitha-- yippeeeeeeeeeeeeee on your loss good for you. 3 boys I have 2 chicks. I cannot imagine. My girls are 17.5 months apart. They are at a great age 8 and 9

Cherylco-- Garlic bread is a toughy to give up especially when everyone else is eating it. You must have been pretty pleased with yourself

Country-- You could be writing about me. I sabatoge myself all the time. WHY heck I have no idea. It is the weirdest thing. I am 8 to 12 pounds from goal and just never seem to get there. I am really exercising now to see if that helps. You know what to do to get back at it. Good luck

Teensybean. WOW you are busy to. Extra weight is always great. I love that feeling afterward. Have a super day.

Tranquil-- Sorry about your computer problems. I hate that.

Zanne--I have also become quite the exercise chick. I love it. You are right it feels wonderful when you are done. I am hoping that by Christmas my body has changed its shape quite a bit. Lets keep each other posted. Do you work out at home? I go to Curves 4 times a week and use the treadmill and free weights at home.

Rosalie,and Bob helllllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooooooo!--

Jane-- I am so glad that you are finally seeing some results. Your hard work is paying off. Congrats!!

Pancho-- The scale can be so mean. That is why I only weigh 1 time a month. I cannot stand the daily fluctuations which can happen for no reason at all. You sound like you are doing great though.

Deb-- Sorry about the headache and being sick in the car. YUCK. I wish we had some hot weather here. But nope it has be unseasonably cool. I hope you feel better today.

Jenn-- I think you did pretty good. I hope that you are feeling well in general. Keep us posted

Jack-k-- WOW you have so much going on. I wish you the best.

Fillise and Grin--Hello and good morning to you both!

Jec-- Fishing is fun for my girls until they have to take the fish off of the hook. WE laugh because the only one who will do it is my mom or Uncle. Yes we are totally pathetic. I am glad you all had so much fun.

Heartmom-- Camping is so much fun and it is hard to stay . Water water water. My mom has a trailer which we love to go to. It is sooooo much fun.

Monet-- Yikes your foot sounds disgusting

:D LOL. I had to laugh about how you described your Dr. That was funny. You have to wonder if they love to do that kind of thing. You are lucky he has such a good sense of humour.

Okay I am off. Helllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooo to everyone of you. I mean it

Ta for now

Good morning everyone. I got a call from the dungeon mistress and she said that I had better pop in and say hi before she sent the search party out after me. So here I am popping in to say hi. Things have been just nuts around my house and work for the past couple of months but I'm still around and miss you guys. Eating has been pretty good. This week-end we had some of my husband's family over for fajitas. Several of them are doing Atkins. Well, let me tell you how much I was enjoying my fajitas with the WW tortillas and the grilled veggies and my glass of wine.

Seth is off to Boy Scout camp and we got Jordan graduated from high school. Jordan leaves for the Marines in less than 6 weeks.

Gotta run. I see we have a lot of new names. Welcome to all of ya'll. I'll try to get on here more for just a quick update (I promise, Deb, really I do!!!).

Good Tuesday Morning

Hope today is going great for everyone. I am dragging today. We stayed at the ball park until after 11:00. It made for a long night.

Crystle, you are right, the more you are on the board, the better you do. It's like thinking no one can see you cheating if you don't post.

Toni, I'm so glad you are back. I have missed you. You know the right place to come back to. We are here to help.

Jecrites, the fishing expedition sounds like fun. Did they learn those fisherman tales too about the one that got away??

Heartmom, Sure don't know why we do that to ourselves. Up and down. Just think how skinny we would be if we just stuck to it for 1 month. Glad you are motivated and rearing to go.

Pancho, thanks for the recipe. Will have to try that one.

Monet, Your poor toe. Hope it is feeling better soon.

Cherylco, Hope you have a great day.

Tranquil, Some days we are just hungry. Better to over-eat OP foods than bad ones. Do we lose wt when we have blood taken?

Talitha, your babysitting job sounds great, especially the pool.

Arcyane, Sure your sister can join us. The more the merrier.

Teensy, it is good that you are challenging your muscles. After awhile, they get used to the same workout. Before long, you will be back to the 25 reps.

Cathlaur, Boy you did have one busy day. I don’t see how you got to bed so early with all that going on. Hope today is a little slower for you.

To anyone I missed,

Have a great OP day everyone.

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone:wave:

Got in from my walk, still took me over an hour today, 1 hour 3min 27 seconds, better than yesterday but still all too slow. Guess I should be happy just to get those 4.5 miles in no matter how I do it.

Don't have a lot of time at the moment to post to everyone individually as I have to start to get ready to leave and go p/u MICHAEL from school to take him to have his film shown. I wonder how many people will be at this thing as it's from Noon til 2pm, on a weekday and something I haven't seen advertised, not to mention films by students. Oh well, I'm taking him just the same:shrug:

For those of you who signed up to be on our TELEPHONE TREE LIST that was sent out to each of you today and you should have it in your e-mail boxes already. If you didn't get it, please let me know. If you want to be on the mailing list you still can, just e-mail me all the info and I'll put you on and update it as new people get listed.

Got an e-mail from SHEANNE, she's busy but wanted me to tell everyone hello. Told her to stop in to say hello, esp. on her birthday. :)

Okay, I REALLY have to get going, I have a half hour to get ready and iron a shirt to wear and hopefully have a minute to eat something.

Will check in later!

Hello everyone.

Yesterday was a pretty good day, except for when the kids went total nuts at hubbys shop. I didn't get a chance to get on the TM, but did get in a 45 min. walk after dinner. I'm hoping to do that from now on. I didn't even have any no-no's yesterday either! Now if I could just keep the weekends OP I'd be doing just about perfect.

Talitha, Boy would my hubby like to go fishing with you. I'm the type where I don't mind fishing, but I won't bait my own hook much less touch a fish. I even refused to touch the little Beta fish we had; sometimes it would end up totally out of water when I cleaned his "tank." Our 6 yr. old on the other hand doesn't mind the worms, crickets, or the fish; she's a little tomboy.

Teensy, The only time hubby takes the boat is when he's going by himself or when the kids aren't here to go. They don't sit still for anything, and we'd all be dumped in the water. Most time's the kids and I are ready to leave way before he is; this time he got hungry and the fish had stopped biting. He's like that, if they stop biting, he'll leave but most times he'll just find another spot to fish.

Cathlaur, I won't take them off the hook either, hubby has to do that.

Jack-k, No not yet. They did have some that got away, but everything was really small, but they had fun even though the fish had to be put back in the water.

Ok, now I'm off to the shower. Hopefully I'll have time to check back before hubby gets home this afternoon. Talk to y'all later.

O.K., I know I said I wouldn't be on today, but I am addicted to you guys! Actually, I jumped on to brag a little bit, since I know my weight will be up a bit tomorrow for WIW, after having dinner at the Olive Garden tonight. I still plan to just have the eggplant parm & a salad, but I bet the eggplant will be breaded. ANYWAY, my weight this a.m. was 128.5. I couldn't believe it. I wondered if I would ever see the 120's again. I am 35 years old now, and it seems my metabolism has slowed over the past few years.

I am still eating good and exercising, and hope to maintain my weight on this 2-week trip I have coming up.

Monet - Ouch & Yuck. That sounds painful, but I am sure it will be feeling better in no time. I am also glad to hear that your son's room-mate found out what was causing the pain. It's frustrating to have something wrong and not know what it is.

Tranquil: You would not recognize this place; it has grown by leaps & bounds over the past 15-20 years. I went to high school here, and we used to drive out to the dessert to party. It seemed so far out then, and now it is the northwest part of town, with houses and grocery stores and all other types of development. Seems so strange. It was by no means ever a small place to live, but it is really getting big now.

Talitha: My husband is already thrilled with his surgery. It is incredible how quick the recovery time is. The surgery was really quick too (less than 2 minutes per eye). He has worn glasses/contacts for over 20 years, and actually lost one of his contacts in his eye the other day. It folded in half and was up in his eye where he couldn't find it; that was the last straw for him. He got in for a consult & scheduled the surgery right away. He has to use several different eyedrops four times a day for the first week, but gheez, what a trade-off. He is doing everything he did before, and feels like he is leaving the house without something everyday (he is...his contacts & glasses). My youngest daughter, who will be 11 months old tomorrow, is Delaney Rose. My oldest is Brittany Gail (middle name is my mom's).

Katie: Wow, what a day. I hope today is a little slower paced for you. Congrats on fitting into those pants. I am so excited to be buying size 8's now. My husband doesn't think I can get into a 6 again after having kids. I think I am on a mission to prove him wrong (ha). I don't care if I drop another pant size or not. I just want to firm up a bit more, and not gain anymore weight.

Well, we will be heading out for Peter Piper Pizza soon to meet some friends. They have an all-you-can-eat buffet, so I will eat some pizza toppings and a salad.

I hope to check in tomorrow. We are going to have a playgroup here in the morning.

Take care all!

Good morning ladies.... It was still actually morning when I got here. It has rained and hailed here today . So I am staying in. And just puttering around. Got some veggies marinating for dinner, and made some FF Sugar Free Pudding.

Does anyone have a pizza crust recipe that I can make that doesn't need Agave Nectar? I still haven't been able to find any here. Where is the best place on line to order it??

Monet... I will be trying that pie recipe for sure. Dh loves apple pie.

Cathlaur-- Boy, girl.... you totally pooped me out just reading how busy you were. I would say you got in some exercise there!! Good for you.

Trish-- Hello, nice to see you again.

Jack-k-- Yes, I am hoping to be able to increase the weights every few months. I would love to see more results on the upper arms, and of course the thighs. Why do they have to be so stubborn??

Deb--Have fun today-- are you sticking around to watch the film too, or just playing taxi again?? Maybe there will be more turn out than you would think for a week day. Sure hope so.

Jec-- I understand about small boats. Our is a 30' pontoon boat. We live aboard when we use it. We keep it moored at Lake Roosevelt for the summer months. It would be a kids dream, believe me. There are many sandy beaches here, and we just pull it up a ways on the sand, and then the kids can swim, walk, what ever. There are a couple of other people with boats that usually stay with us at the same place. It really is alot of fun.

Pancho-- I would kill to see 128.5!! Way to go girl.

Tranquil-- I bet the new doo looks great!! It just might take a couple of days to get used to it. I bet you look M A R V E L O U S.

Hope you all have a great day! Be back tonight!

Hi ladies. Phew! Trying to find my way over here on the SB board.

Okay, I'm an Atkins convert. to make a long story short I was on Atkins for almost 8 weeks and lost only 10 lbs (and it may even be closer to 7 because I've been having "scale" issues.) I've been eating nothing but meat and veggies - no fruit, no whole grain anything. I'm realizing that if I'm going to lose weight slower than grass grows, I'd rather be eating more fruits, and whole grains. It just seems - I don't know, Healthier????

I have an old edition of SB. First, is there a newer one? (Like in the past 5 years?) Second, I'm actually following the "sample" diet and, quite frankly, I'm starving! I had 1/2 cup whole wheat cereal with some blueberries and 6 oz. skim milk for breakfast. By 10:30 I broke into my grapes (which were supposed to be an afternoon snack) and by 11:45 I'd already eaten my turkey on sgww bread sandwich. Now I sit here at 3:30 honestly feeling like I'm going to throw up because I'm so HUNGRY and a 7:30 dinner is a LONG WAY AWAY! And by my calculations, I've only eaten about 400 caolories so far. Does that sound right?

I truly want to lose weight so I'm trying to actually diet here. But is there ANYTHING that is "legal" that I can munch on? I know you can have a handful of nuts here and there, but I'm telling you I am hungry! And if I buy nuts right now I know I'd guzzle the whole can. While I hated most of the food on Atkins - a celery stick with cream cheese is sounding awfully good!!! '

Any help would be really appreciated - I'm very committed to this woe if I can find some way of satisfying myself between meals.

Just a quickie...

Just popping into catch up efore I head home.

Looking like rain here. Have some errands to run tonight. Our church picnic is this weekend so Dh will be helping wire the booths tonight.

Trish, I'm glad the Dungeon Mistress stirred you upand back on here. Congrats on your eating being good even though you are not with us alot. Hope you can get back here more often.

Deb, just be glad you are getting in those miles. Time is not a big factor. More important to just do it. Hope Michael gets a decent showing for his film.

Jecrites, I'm with you. Don't touch the fish, worms. anyting. I will hold the pole but that's it. Plus fish make me sick to look at them. No reason for me to go along.

Pancho, Olive Garden has some things that aren't breaded. Like Chicken Marsala. If you are sticking with the eggplant, then don't have any starchy carbs for the rest of the day. Congrats on your 128.5. That's great.

Tranquil, lets see pic of that new hairdo. Bet it is cute. Congrats on an OP day!

Teensy, not only are those arms stubborn, they get flabby real quick if you stop. I haven't worked out in a week and I can see a big difference. Hope to get back to it tonight.

Amhlawyer, First of all, welcome to our board. You can ask any questions and get some help. If you are hungry, eat some cheese, nuts, veggies and dip, fruit. Add some veggies and fruit to your lunch.

Toni, you can do this. You did it before beautifully. It will take a day or so to get back in teh swing of things. Maybe re-read the book.

I am planning to be at chat tonight. Hope others will join me.

Have a great night.

Jackie.

Hello everyone. It's not such a good day today. My throat is sore, my head hurts, I've been chilled all day. I hope I hope I hope I'm not getting sick. I had to take a nap a little while ago, but I don't really feel any better. Just wanted to stop in and whine.

I hope Deb's head and stomach, Monet's toe, BOB's neck and everyone elses ills are all better. I'm going back to bed.

Now that DH is done fixing that other computer I'm back up and running. A lot is going to happen in my life over the next two weeks and it has already begun.

Last week my youngest child was sick, this week my oldest so we spent Monday at the Dr, pharmacy, etc. Good thing though, I'm a Starbuck's customer of the Month :) What a surprise! Today I've spent busily supervising with other parents and one daughter's swim party and then hustling over to spend a summer birthday party with my 1st grader. I'm pooped and I can't get sick because I'm having a block tomorrow and then they are going to do a endoscopic carpal tunnel release next Wed. Basically it's surgery to try and help my right hand or do nothing and not get better. There is a chance my RSD could go back to where it was a year ago:?: that has me worried, but it's in God's hands now.

I weighed 171 this morning (down 2.5lbs from last week) and eating was 100% OP until today, I'm going to get back on track with dinner tonight, actually I haven't even had an official meal today as I didn't time things and didn't plan :nono: - out the door I went - at Starbuck's I ate a banana bran muffin (I'm sure it's  and full of calories :o ) then I ate an ice cream sandwich for lunch as I hadn't eaten anyting since the muffin. Finally when I got home I had a couple pieces of cheese. I'm starving and I have a headache, all of which I'm sure is credit to eating sugar. I think I'll have some left over roast beef in a few minutes, maybe a sandwich, I may not need more carbs, but I certainly need a decent meal.

Finally, I won't be able to check in before Thursday  at the earliest and Friday if I'm feeling up to it, the kids and I are going to see Rugrats go Wild. So anyway, the next few weeks might be spotty checkins for me, I just don't know yet. I'm going to really read my DragonSpeak book and find out how to operate as much as possible without typing or using the mouse. Then responses will be much easier once I know how toggle between screens.

I'm going to get something to eat. Glad to have caught up with you all.

Ellen

Well, I got up this morning and called my manager. He was a bit on the sharp side, and backed up what the assistant store manager said...I was to come into work with birkenstock sandals and socks! Ok...so I guess Thursday, I will do that. Frankly, I think they are acting like jerks...it is illegal to work with open toe shoes in a food production area.

I took my son's roommate over to talk to the store manager. She is the asst. manager in my department... They were very mean to her, and had written her up for not calling when she went to the emergency room. My son, her roommate, had called to tell them where she was, but that was not ok for these two jerks. She has no family here, so I don't know what they expected. She had a mental breakdown for heavens sake! How was she supposed to be calling? They don't allow cellphones in the emergency room! I was ready to march in there and mop up the floor with the two of them.

We went up to get blood work done. We stopped at the doctors office on the way for lab orders. He saw me and pulled me in to check my toe. This man is definitely a ghoul, and I told him so. He laughed and told me he was just being a Michelangelo, and wanted to check his work! The toe looks much better, and is not hurting hardly at all tonight. All the people waiting in the waiting room glared at me...but it made me feel special for him to pull me in like that.

After getting our lab work done, we went to breakfast and I ate real pancakes and syrup. I felt very decadent. When we got back home, I had a message from the lab. The phlebotomist forgot to mark my vials of blood with my name and case number, so I have to go back tomorrow morning to have it redrawn! Mind you, there are only two vials of unmarked blood in the lab, and mine are the only ones missing, but the law states they can not send it in, even if they KNOW its mine! I was SO ticked! So, I have to fast again tomorrow and go back up there. Did I mention the lab is about 45 minutes away?

The afternoon got away from me. Its time to get going on dinner. I hope to make chat tonight!

Will get in my replies later....

I don't eat WW pasta, I do make sure it's 100% semolina which I understand is legal because its actually durum wheat? Someone correct me if I'm wrong K?
I order the Agave online even though it's readily available in the health food stores around here. The store sells 8 fl oz for 4.99.
I buy the 32 fl oz by the case and end up paying a lot less.
I was told the dark Agave was better for you because it is not filtered like the light Agave so had more minerals and what not. It has a stronger taste then the light and everyone in the house prefers the light so I'll stick with that.
Anyway I order it from Sweet Cactus Farms (http://www.sweetcactusfarms.com/)

Isn't amazing how difficult it is to stay away from the "no- no's" sometimes? Problem with them us they turn into the "Oh well blew it's" "might as well pig outs its"
Good job!

Pancho
I think the last time I weighed 128 I was in 8th grade! Good for you!

Tranquil
Way to go on staying OP today!
I think I did too, yup I did. Yesterday and today I only had a starchy carb for breakfast and none the rest of the day. I can't believe how hard it is for me to have a meal without one! Been making salads and eating steak with them. It's weird because I'm full but I feel like I shouldn't be.

amhlawyer
Welcome to the Sugar Buster Side!
I know for a fact that I could never, ever live without starchy carbs or fruit. Anyone who can do Atkins is amazing to me.
Anyway, yes there is a new Sugar Buster Book out there, not much different then the old I've heard. I brought it, just haven't read it. As far as calories, I don't count them and don't know if anyone else does? I go by portion size. I really would suggest not worrying about how much your eating right now, as long as it's SB legal. Once your body adjusts to SB (about a month) you'll find your appetite decreases.

Monet
That sucks so bad about the blood, especially if you had to fast too!
I had 3 vials of blood drawn every single month for 3 years because the medication I'm taking can mess with the kidney. Doctor took pity on me and changed it to every 3 months this year.

I can't believe I can get on the computer again! We brought one of those wireless Simmons routers so we could hook the dinning room computer up to the cable. What a HUGE difference! I no longer have to fight for computer time!

Another busy day yesterday lol. But I truly love that.
I had a great day eating and exercising and am hoping to do that again today. I was at work for 6 am which is early. I am having knee surgery on July 8th so I have banked enough hours to be paid full time while I am off and to be paid overtime. Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I am really pleased so is hubby.

Adriene you and I should chat:) I was doing Atkins to and changed to Sugar Busters. There is something wrong when you crave fruit and are afraid to eat it. I have been doing SB for 8 days. I only weigh 1 time a month at Curves so I dont know if I have lost weight. But I can tell you I feel great. I wore pants yesterday that I could not wear before. This program makes sense and is probably something I can do for life. So I figure if it takes me a year to get the last 12 pounds off that is fine with me. Good luck.

Monet tell me about chat and how it works. I would love to do that. Your manager sounds like an A**! hmmmmmmmm. I guess money is more important than following the rules and the safety of their employees. Just be careful and watch your foot.

Cheryl I am going to go and check out the site you gave when I am done here.

Idblond it sounds like you sure do have a lot going on. Sorry your child was sick. I hate that . Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Fillise I am sorry you are sick. Get better soon.

Hi Jackie

Hi teensybean.

Bob glad you are well.:dizzy: Sometimes I even poop myself out when I realize what I accomplished. But you know I love being busy. But I would gladly get a housecleaner for that. I hate cleaning the house though I do it. One day one day:D

Hello to everyone else

Talk to you later

Good morning everybody! Weight is the same as it has been for the last bit. I'll take it after all my bad eating last weekend. I've been walking and eating better this week, sooooo maybe just maybe next week will be a loss week. :)

~Adrienne, welcome! You will find this way of eating is wonderful. I don't count calories even though I know there are others who do. Most of your fruits and veggies don't amount to nothing and that is the vast majority of my diet. I do eat meat and stuff but I rarely eat pasta or bread. This week I've eaten more bread than I have in the last two years. You really shouldn't be hungry. There are so many okay things to munch on all day long. Do you like veggies? The celery with cream cheese you mentioned is a good snack. I don't like celery but if I did I'd sure eat it. I do love cream cheese. Be patient with yourself. You will find the balance that works best for you in no time.

Toni!!!!!!!!! so good to see you lady! You can DO this.

Teensy.....how did those veggies turn out? I need to go to the store and get some. My variety is limited right now to tomotoes and lettuce. I take that back. I do have a little cauliflower left. I made the most delicious cauliflower conconcoction the other night. It had mayo and horseradish sauce in it.

Katie...praying for your upcoming knee surgery. Glad you have the hours banked so you don't have to worry about the time off. That really helps with the recovery.

Monet...your bosses sound really mean. A couple days to heal so you could wear your proper shoes would have been the nice thing to do. Sorry you have to have your blood drawn again...ouch.

Bob...hope you are feeling better this morning.

Idblond...praying your procedure goes well also. And that your kiddos are feeling better.

(((Susan))) Hope you feel better soon.

Sabrina....can't wait to see the new do...you should take a picture for us. :)

Gotta scoot. Sorry for those I missed. YOU are important this ole gal has just run out of time.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Hi All! I have been reading all your posts, Kinda new here. I have been on Atkins for about 2 weeks on and off. I lost 5 lbs, but its getting tough without my toast ( I can handle sugarfree bread and sweet potatoes!) So I am looking forward to a new journey will Sugar Busters! I have been having the book for years. I just need to shed about 20 lbs. I will do the best I can before getting pregnant. We are planning to try by July with the doctor's okay. Recently lost baby in February, so looking forward to the future! Hope to get to know everyone! :dancer: So far today, I had eggs and sausage! URGH, I needed toast! By the way, can we have milk? Oh and quite curious on how you all count legal starches, did I hear 3-4? So 1 slice of bread is 1? and 1/2 of sweet potatoe is 1?

Hello everyone. Thanks to the rain all day yesterday, I didn't get to walk. I could have gotten on the TM, but I was gone nearly all day, and was wanting to walk after dinner.

Hubby is on call now, and he has to work this weekend. The air show is this weekend, and they are expecting a whole bunch of people to be here. I don't know how they think they are going to fit all those people on this little tiny base at the same time. It's going to be extremely crowded.

I missed chat last night. Hubby was playing his game on here, and I had locked myself in my bedroom to have a little bit of peace and quiet for a while. I left him to deal with the kids.

Teensy, So is that kind of like camping? My kids would definately love to live on a boat. They would be jumping overboard all the time. They have been bugging me about getting them a pool for the summer, but really it hasn't been warm enough here for anyone to go swimming. I've seen people out in the pool and it's just 75 degrees out there, and the wind is blowing. Of course I'm more used to it being around 92 or so this time of year, so it's a big change for us, and the kids don't really understand it.

Jack-k, Speaking of fishing worms, I got up one morning about a month ago and there was a worm in my kitchen floor by the door. I swear that thing was at least 6 inches long. It scared the crap out of me, and hubby wouldn't get his butt out of the bed to put it back outside. Luckily my 6yr. old isn't afraid of them, so she put it outside for me. The neighbor told me that the people in this house before us had problems with ants in the kitchen, but she didn't say anything about worms in the kitchen!

Fillise, I hope you aren't getting sick either. Get some rest and take some meds. Hope you start feeling better soon.

Monet, Geez, your bosses are jerks. What are they gonna do if a helth inspector makes a surprise visit and there you are in your sandles and socks? You know, I think that people in managers positions that are jerks do it just to see how upset they can make people. You would think that a call from your son would have been good enough since they are roommates. I would have been mad at them too for treating her like that.

BOB, I hope that sinus headache is gone. Those things suck!

Cherylco, When I first started SB, it wasn't all that hard for me to stay away from the no-no's, I just don't know what's happened here lately to make me keep going for the no-no's. I do seem to do ok during the week, it's the dang weekend that really gets me.

Toni, I see you are in MO too. Where is Eminence? I'm at Whiteman AFB which is right outside of Knob Noster.

Ok, I've got to get up and start cleaning on this house and get some laundry started. I'll talk to y'all later.

Well this morning I woke up and it was 7:30!!! I have to be at the office by 8:30 - so needless to say I was scrambling and did not weigh in - so I will do my WIW tomorrow.....It will have to be a WIT? hahaha

Crystal - I will try and take a good picture of it - maybe play on the camera tomorrow before work when I am all "dolled" up ;) Actually today I love it.... Cat - You sound so positive and upbeat - a joy to read! Motivating!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Monet - I am so sorry I missed chat last night. I had gone to St. Augustine on a whim with a friend and had walked around the old part of the city - it was not crowded and though it was very humid, it was not too hot...we looked in boutiques and just a nice get away....glad to hear your toe is better, I figured that when you said he lanced it - then you would feel a better difference!

Cheryl - that is terrific! you keep up the good work too!!! I am trying, trying - and it felt good to get out last night and walk....

BOB - You need a good vacation - a nice relaxing one, somewhere where you can lie in the sun on a chair, looking at the sparkling ocean, while the cabana boys serve you cocktails, fan you and flatter you!!!! Maybe then with all that attention and love you might heal and feel better!!!!!! Wishful thinking, huh? LOL Wish I could have this dream vacation! Instead I am driving 900 miles to NJ/NYC!!!!!

ldblond - CONGRATS on your loss - sorry to hear your little loved ones are under the weather - hope all get better!!!!! Starbucks Customer of the Month - COOL BEANS!!!!!!!!!! I am drinking Mocha Java coffee from Starbucks right now, compliments of Deb and her darling Eli in Miami!!!!

Fillise - OH NO - FEEL BETTER SOON!!!!!!!!!!

JackK - will try and send that photo - if I can get one done where I don't freak out seeing myself - hahahaha....hope you have a good time at your church picnic this weekend!!!!

Toni - Keep on truckin' and you will get back into the swing of things - you can do it....just remember the rubber tree plant song! hahahaha

Amhlawyer - Welcome, and I know it is a strange transition from Atkins to SBers - I started with only Atkins experience...but once you get the hang of it, smooth sailing....good luck and enjoy - it is such a healthy way of eating...

I have to run now, got to go to airport.

Hi Everyone

I missed you all yesterday. I was out all day to a lawn bowling tournament and when I got home I was pooped. I don't know if it was from too much bowling or being out in the fresh air all day. There wasn't too much sun but I did manage to get a bit of a burn on my face. I even went to bed when I got home and slept for a bit and then lazed around all evening and went to bed early. Even had my ds cook dinner for us both. I am up a couple of pounds from last week. Can't say that I am surprised after pigging out on the weekend and again yesterday at the luncheon the bowling club put on. There were lots of salads but I am sure not all of them were legal. I ate a variety of them but did keep away from the potato and pasta salads. I finished off with some store bought cheescake.:ink: So back to the grindstone to-day. I'm making a chicken caesar salad for lunch, also some curried lentils and veggies.

Monet - Hope your foot is feeling better. Did you ask your boss if you would be covered for workers compensation if you get injured on the job due to not wearing regulation footwear? He sounds like a real jerk. And :censored: for the way he treated ds's room-mate.

Fillise - Hope you are feeling better.

Jecrites- Had to laugh about the worm in the kitchen. How would you like to find one in your fridge? When I was first married my dh would buy worms to take fishing and kept them overnight in the container in the fridge and guess what, one day one of them got out. I dragged him out of bed to deal with that one.

Toni - Good to see you back with us but sorry to hear about the gain. Just hop right back on that wagon. We know you can do it as you did it before. Just remember we are all here for you.

Pancho - I never weigh myself any time except first thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything. Our weight definitely fluctuates during the day. I know my weight can be 5 or 6 pounds heavier in the evening than the morning.

Greetings to everyone I have missed. I'm so far behind after missing one day.

Bye for now.

Marie.

Not in the best of moods today- feeling down. My eyes are all swollen and puffy from crying. I just learned that a little boy from my online heart support group has passed away. He had the same condition as Boogie and he made it thru the operation okay but had complications in recovery and arrested. I was totally shock to get the news. He was the same age as Boogie and was getting his tricuspid valve replaced. Boogie's valve also leaks. And then I learned that another HLHS boy just got diagnosed with a very rare form of liver cancer(1 in a million). The docs have never seen a heart kid and now a rare liver cancer combined. The surgeon said that they didn't know if his heart would withstand the surgery. He's rapidly getting sick. His name is Theo and his Mom's name is Tara. Please pray for them and for God to give Theo's heart the strength it needs to get thru this. Also, if you could pray for the Lord to comfort the family(his mom's name is Echota) of the little boy who died(his name was Quinn).

Well, I'm up 3 pounds this WIW- 193. It was around 196. It's not coming off as fast as I hoped. I still have some fluid on me although I've been drinking water like crazy. Well, I'm fixing to get off this computer and go fix me some lunch.

Welcome!
I don't know how big a help I can be because I've just been eating legal and not counting starchy carbs. I believe you are supposed keep it 1 to 2 servings of starchy carbs for weight loss?
I'm sticking to 1 serving a day right now because I realized I was having one at every meal, then woofing Triscuts for snack.

Again, not sure about amounts? Told you I was not going to be a big help. I was not really paying attention to serving size till now when my weight loss slowed down.

This site is really good to get some ideas.

Greetings everyone...

Welcome to our new gals and returning gals. I too did Atkins for way too long. I craved fruit and sweets and felt miserable on the program. I've been seeing a nutritionist as part of my cancer recovery program. I gave her my SB program book to read. She feels it is a very balanced program. She does not advise counting calories or carbs, etc. but does reccomend portion control. She has asked me not to weigh in weekly but do a monthly weigh in with her. What a feeling of freedom. I tend to get a little obsessed wth the darn scale numbers... :dizzy:

My prayer's go out to Heartmom for her family and Theo's and Quinns. It is beyond my understanding why God brings so many of his children home that seem so young. I truly believe and may have shared this before...that even as our familes on Earth are crying tears of saddness for the loss of a loved one..the angels in Heaven are weeping tears of joy for the return of thier sister/brother. I have lost so many of my friends with cancer. I occasionally have survivor's guilt. I need to believe in God's perfect plan for my life... lets treat the perfect bodies that he has given us with respect and good nutrition today... Blessings to all Lori:df: :df:

I am so far behind right now I'd swear I was in the lead. I have so much laundry and I still haven't started on it. I've been kind of lazy today.

Rosalie, Oh yeah, I know about the worms in the fridge too. Although I've never seen one to get out thank goodness. There are some worms in the fridge now at that. I think it's gross for him to keep them in there, but what can I do? He's going to do it anyway.

Heartmom, So sorry to hear about the little boy. That's so sad. I'll keep his family and the other child's family and you and your family in my prayers.

Gonna go for now and see if I can get something going. Talk to y'all later.

Does anybody know anything about these....they claim to be sugar free and backed by the American Diabetes ***.. however, it does contain Lactitol, like i know what that is...it saus it is a sugar substitute slowing metabolized carbohydrate that generally cause only a small rise in blood glucose levels.

Any imput would help, I only eat like 1 every once in awhile, in fact I have been having this bag in desk drawer since April. :dizzy:

Don't have time for replies today; sorry!

I was up 2.5 pounds this morning to 131. It was probably the Olive Garden meal. I did have a glass of chardonnay, salad (no breadsticks or croutons), eggplant parmigiana (but not the pasta that came with it), and no ice cream. I was really good! The eggplant parmigiana was breaded; oh well. It was the best choice out of the 5 we had. I'll be good the rest of the week. We are taking my husband out Sunday for Father's Day and then my dad out to eat next Tues. for Father's Day. I'll probably gain another 5 pounds by WIW next week.:( But, I do have to admit it is that TOM.

I hope you are all having a good humpday, and I hope to read some more posts later.

Well, there are a lot of new people on the board since I left. Glad to see you all.

The trip to France was FABULOUS. I came back so rested and refreshed. The villa that we rented was beautiful and had a great view of the Mediterranean. The house itself was in an old olive grove from which they actually produce olive oil. The best part of it all was the food (of course) and the fact that a woman and her family lived on the premises. The woman, named Annie, did all the cleaning and cooking. But she was more than a cook, more like a chef, I'd say. Each night, or even at lunch if we wanted, she would fix a 3 course meal. The most fun was that she would bring in a small buzzer button and place it at my place at the table. When we finished one course, I would press the button which would ring a buzzer in the kitchen. Annie would come and clear the dishes and bring the next course. And she would clean up in the kitchen too. What a way to live! I could live like that every day. I miss that the most of everything we left in France.

Debbie, tell your son that all my French lessons really helped tremendously. Annie spoke no English, so planning with her what we would have for dinner was a lot easier since I spoke some French. She loved to talk and would start talking about her family, or the town near by or whatever. She talked rather fast, so I learned a lot about understanding the spoken word. There were some times I had little idea about what she was saying, but not too often. I will be signing up to take more French at the local university. I need to get tested to see what level I am at, so I can get in the proper class for my level of proficiency.

The family that we visited near Limoges also spoke only French. I learned that even in France there are big differences in the type of food eaten, depending on the region, just as it is here in the USA.

When were there in France, I did not worry one bit about what I ate. I put on a couple of pounds, but we got in quite a bit of walking too. We had ice cream almost every day. It is so creamy and delicious over there--even better than Hagaan Daz. Normally we would have a scoop of vanilla with a scoop of cassis sherbert. Yum. We can't get cassis sherbert here; it is black current, and was tart sweet. It was somewhat like raspberry sorbet, but a bit tarter, with bits of current in it. The French bread was, of course, wonderful and chewy, but best of all were the vegetables. So fresh and tasty. We had all kinds of meat: rabbit, duck breast, pork, beef, lamb, etc. One night we had a whole raw foie gras, which Annie sliced and "fried" in a dry hot skillet. It was unctious. To get the same thing here in the US one has to send away for it and it costs about $85. There, it probably was about $10.

Monet--was it you that gave me a lot of info about hypothyroidism? Aren't you seeing a doctor that you just love that has worked with you to get your thyroid meds adjusted just right? Anyway, before we left for France I got ultra-serious about almost NO carbs at all!!!! I spent 2 weeks watching every morsel, counting every calorie, almost doing Adkins with a few extra vitamins thrown in. I lost a total of 2 pounds and was totally discouraged. I had just about decided that if I get so little response to being like a "monk" with food, what good was it going to do for the rest of my life. That was when I decided to consult another doctor who took this all more seriously than my regular doctor. So I made an appt with a holistic MD, who I have seen twice since I got back.
The lack of any progress was making me so depressed that I quit coming to the board because I didn't see that even being vigilent with SB was working for me. So that is another reason I have been MIA for a few months.

I just got back from seeing this new doctor, and was I blown away by the results of the blood test from last week. My T4 and TSH all look fine on paper, but my T3 was quite low and my thyroid antibodies were off the chart. The antibody problem might be related to toxic metals still in my system 5 years after I had all the amalgam fillings removed, or it may have kicked in during menopause. At any rate, she has switched me to Armour for a couple of months to see how that works. She also had some electrodermal tests run, and several milk products, eggs, oats and wheat are not particularly agreeable with me according to the tests. She told me, for now, to forego ALL gra
