Morning all. Will try to keep this short. I'm working a half day today so I can be home to help keep the dog sane while the trick-or-treaters visit.
Shad - I hope you got your travel plans sorted out, or at least got the keys to the person who needs the car! Heard a blurb about Quantas (sp?) on the radio news which included a sound bite from some guy unhappy about being left in a lurch.
Ceejay - It never seems to be a cheap trip to Walmart. Yesterday we went and it was over $100 - Halloween candy, big pack of paper towels, contact lens supplies, my facial cleanser, etc, brought the tally up. Other times it's the purchase of dog food that jacks up the total. Even Trader Joe's on Saturday was $70 - some wine and beer made the difference there. Sigh.
Mel - Sounds like the weekend from **** is continuing. You posted, so obviously you still have power! Thank goodness. Take care my friend!
Michelle - So you've already finished with your trick-or-treaters? Awww, that's kind of strange and un-fun. Oh well. I'd give you my recipe for the cranberry-orange bread, but you can just find it on the back of the Ocean Spray cranberry bag! All I did was approximately double the amount of cranberries by using the entire bag (left some whole and coursely chopped some) and I also increased the amount of nuts. The baking time was increased - not sure if it was the additional volume or just my oven.
Annie - Sounds like Jake is doing really well!! I'm so happy to hear that! LOL re Curtis with the candy. We bought ours yesterday evening and I was digging into it, so thank goodness today is the day to give it all away!!
Happy - Hope this bed is the end-all, be-all for you and dh. I agree that the hefty price makes one give pause when taking that in. If it helps both of you get better rest and is good on the joints, then it'll be worth it. Have a wonderful final day of work.

I'm sure the years ahead are stretching in front of you, and leaving something you've done all of your adult life is sort of scary, but you'll certainly adjust soon enough!! I hope you have zero/minimal mail snafus.

Weekend went by too fast. I realized I had a hair appointment on Sat. morning that fell too early for me to have done an exercise class and been showered before the appt. Darn. Ended up watching a Biography episode about Will Smith and doing a load of laundry instead. Afterwards was a visit to the resale shop. Bought a brand new heating pad thingy that has beans in it and heats in the microwave, as well as two packs of those closet space expanders which you can hang 5 things in the spaces of 1. One of the very few "As Seen on TV" things I ever thought was really worthwhile...
Went to the shoe store and finally got my $20 credit for the 2nd pair half off deal. Now I'm square with that, and will make a point of always buying two pair if there's a next time shopping trip! Also did a Trader Joe's and Costco trip. Costco didn't have two of the things we wanted and we had to wait 15 min. for a new batch of rotisserie chickens, so we ended up eating 4 out of 5 different cheese samples one woman was pushing, LOL.
Dinner and Karaoke was a lot of fun. When we first got to the bar after dinner, there was a guy I have now learned (from my co-worker) was dressed as Borat. I never saw the movie, but she immediately knew what I was talking about based on my description. (If you're really interested, Google "Borat photos" and you'll see it, or just picture a thong speedo w/ suspenders. Eeeew. ) Any, this guy of very average build - even a bit heavier and dumpier and hairy and tattooed - is in this "outfit" and it was like a car accident - can't help looking. But a few minutes later he left the bar, and we think he was asked to leave because of his "costume" (or lack thereof). I hope he didn't have to stop anywhere on the way home, LOL.
Yesterday was a lazy morning, and then I got out in the wind and took out the veggie garden and the fencing around it. I have two very full grocery bags of tomatoes in various stages of ripeness. Luckily I finished with everything just before the rain started!!
Bf and I went to an early dinner and then to Walmart and that was it for me. Just a little tv and reading before hitting the hay.
Okay, this isn't short at all. C'est la vie. Nothing super urgent today, so after I post I'm going to call the Help folks and ask some questions about my new Microsoft Outlook version 10, which they just installed last week.
Okay, I get to use all the Halloween emoticons today, LOL:
