Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: emotional eating.

Following any specific plan: Eating only when hungry and only healthy food.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: It is the first time I don't concentrate on the food but on the reasons for eating when not hungry, which I think is the reason of my overweight.

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: I usually get discouraged because often I get sick not long after starting a weightloss/fitness program. Not sure why. I'm hoping to avoid that this time with the help of some multi-vitamins.

Following any specific plan: Tom Venuto's Burn the Fat, Feed The Muscle. Which is really about calorie control. Use more than you eat.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I understand that I'm older now, I have a plan that I know will work for me. I know that it will take time, patience, and perseverance.

Marital Status: Living in sin.

Children/Ages: Son/9

Occupation: Writer/editor

Pets: Dog, 3 cats, tortoise, fish, frogs.

Hobbies/Interests: I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't been interested in much, lately. Love to cook, read. I would love to dance, run, sew, garden...

Height: 5'5"

Eye/Hair Color: Brown/Brown

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: 1/8/2012

Starting Weight: 212

Goal Weight: 135

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: Living with two guys (son and boyfriend) who can eat whatever they want.

Following any specific plan: Not sure yet. I have had success on SBD, but I'm afraid that if I follow a plan, I will not stick to it. I have designed my own plan, based on principles similar to SBD.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I have no idea, which is what's so scary about it. Every time I started, I was convinced that "this is it!" but it never is. I hope this time is different, but terrified that it's not. Perhaps what's different is that I have less faith in myself than I have ever had. (Sorry to be a Debby Downer.)

Anything else you would like to share with us: I would love to know someone nearby with similar goals -- an accountability buddy!

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: Always, this time: Jan 29/12

Starting Weight: 215

Goal Weight: 160

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: I have always yo-yo'd my entire life. I will lose the weight, keep it off a few years, then gain it back. I was at 150 for a couple of years this last time but then slowly gained it back over the past 2 years....I want it off again.

Following any specific plan: I do crazy things...but mostly low calorie/low carb.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I do not know...I want to do it, but for the past 6 months I keep failing. When I am in *the zone* I can diet hardcore, and I can't seem to get back into *the zone*...but I want it. The zone to me, is when that switch in my head flips and puts me on a straight course to my goal...I see it and want it so much, nothing deters me. I can't seem to get that switch to flip again though.

Anything else you would like to share with us: I hate myself.

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: changing life long habits

Following any specific plan: no...trying to do things that will be life long. Low carb due to husband diabetes

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: More time...kids are grown up, husband has lots of other interests so I can focus on me!

Talking New Here...still in the 40s, but barely

First name: Just call me Nelly, I don't give out my first name on-line

Geographical location:
Mid-west

Age: 49, really not willing to join the 50+ group quite yet

Marital Status:
Married for 26 years to a wonderful husband

Children/Ages: 9 children---> 2 girls, 5 years and 25 years and 7 boys, 23 years, 21 years, 18 years, 17 years, 15 years, 12 years, and 9 years. I also have a 1 year old granddaughter.

Occupation: Homemaker, do paper work for family business and sell Mary Kay a little.

Pets: we have miniature hamsters(want one?), a golden retriever mix and an old old old old (did I say old?) black dog, I think he is a cockapoo , oh and a parakeet

Hobbies/Interests: Photography, entertaining

Height: 5 ft 4 inches, although my Dr says I have lost 1/4 inch I refuse to give it up

Starting Weight: 183...highest in life was 2 lbs more at 185.5

Goal Weight: 155

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weight loss:
Financial ability to purchase the foods I need to eat to loose. Time to try and only make foods for myself and something different for everyone else....can't make that work.

Following any specific plan:
I like South Beach Diet....or lower carbs if I have a way to purchase that.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: I am having some "aging" issues with weight gain and loss. Loss not happening, and gaining with no reason. I highly suspect hormone related weight issues.

Anything else you would like to share with us: I am also a Christian and I realize that not everyone is. However, this is an important part of who I am and how I expect to find the ability to lose weight and/or stay healthy.

I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35
