Default 28 pounds in 3 weeks?!?

Okay so on July 3rd, I had an evaulation with my personal trainer. He took all my measurements, weight, bmi etc.
Like a week after that, I switched trainers to someone more intense,
and changed my diet, because I was disappointed with my results.

I found out yesterday, the 27th, that I lost 28 pounds, and 3% body fat.
Is it unhealthy that I lost it that fast?
&+ Can I have advice on how to keep it off.

It's a huge amount (and congratulations) but it would only be unhealthy, imho, if you continued to lose at that rate. Which is impossible.

I think you should prepare yourself to see either your weight holding at this for a while, while your body readjusts, or even a slight increase: this will not be of fat but of water, because our bodies are programmed to hold onto our fat to protect themselves, when they lose some of their precious fat, they'll grab onto water as a panic reaction. Don't panic, the water will gradually be released when your body discovers it's not being starved.

Unless it is - how many calories are you eating? You don't want to go too low too soon.

good luck!

Hi Landsundead, I am in Cincinnati and was wondering where you are working out. Great results, but I would think you should start to level off soon. What does your diet look like?

I'm right there with you. I lost 30lbs my first month. It has leveled out since then to about 4lbs a week, but I am happy with even that.

Congrats!

Haha, I'm in Cincinnati too. That's awesome, maybe we should have a Cincy 3FC party or something.

Anyway, my first reaction was "HOLY CRAP!" I know at higher weights, this is possible. It still worries me how this happens, as it isn't sustainable, and I'm always concerned it will lead to binges or quitting. So just make sure your diet and program are things you can live with for a LONG TIME, and you will be fine.

I lost 25 in the first 3 weeks, and for nearly 10 days i've been stuck (either up a pound or back down around where it was when the loss stopped) and its driving me absolutely insane. Its good to read a little bit (sorry for just jumping in your thread like this!) about the possibility of why it slowed for me, i hope that doesn't happen to you!
For me, i've upped my workouts starting yesterday and trying to get in more protein (and i don't know what you're taking in, but i was insanely restrictive the first couple of weeks and know i need to work to increase my calories so my body will let me lose more again!).
I also gained an insane amount in a very short time, so i feel i should still be losing quickly, grrr.

3% bodyfat loss indicates there was most likely quite a bit of water weight in that 28 lbs. Unless you had EXTREMELY low LBM to begin with probably at least half of that weight was water.

Once that initial whooosh is gone, weight loss should settle down to something more normal. You may even have a slight stall as the body shifts things around.

Thanks for all the feedback, it's very much appreciated.
I work out at Urban Active, in Florence.
Cincy is a 20 minute drive for me.

It probably was water weight, but it deff was the boost I needed to
kick off my weightloss.

In terms of diet, I have been eating lots of fruit,
drinking water after eat a bite of food. I've also been
trying for leaner meats. I kind of suck at explaining
my diet. :/

Congratulations! It comes off fast in the beginning when you have a lot to lose. I wouldn't be concerned. But, also, do not be discouraged when it slows down. Just keep at it.

lol, I used to live in Taylor Mill, right near there. Florence, y'all.
as far as weight lose those tend to lose more in the beginning, and once you have less to lose the weight wont come off that quickly.

but congratulations on your success!!
