NANCE: I am looking forward to doing some scrapbooking. My friend that is doing the parties and stuff does work full time but she is doing the parties on the side for fun and some extra cash. her husband is in a band and they just signed with a big manager/lawyer from Los Angeles and are hoping to make it big. So, until they do, I think the little extra cash that she can bring in will be helpful!! She loves it and she knows how I love to "create" so I'm looking forward to hosting a party. I'll let you know how it all goes!!

I'm doing really good today! I'm OP 100% and feeling great! I hope to break 250 this week!!

It is a lazy Sunday afternoon here. My engaged daughter is at work, my 15 year old daughter is spending the afternoon with her non boyfriend's family, (she is adamant that they are NOT dating..yet they sure act like it! Kids!) and my hubby is off at TreeClimbers Intl. climbing trees. I have been trying to catch up with emails, and freelance writing, and posts. I am two hours overdue on my second thyroid pill, and sinking fast. I am going to have to take a nap!

I wanted to write to everyone, but I will have to come back and do that after the nap!

Just a couple I can remember:

DEB: If you want to add to your exercise routine, may I suggest Joyce Vedral's books on weight training for women? I have her Fat Burning Workout book, and it is all written so you can do it at home, or even when you travel. It requires very little basic equipment, and you can get wonderful results with it. I also have her Bottoms Up! book, but much prefer her Fat Burning Workout. It is simple, and to the point. Give it a look over and see what you think.

NANCE: I had to giggle about you escaping the kids. How true! If I am home, my daughter might not even come up to say hello when she gets home, but if I am not here, she calls me on my cell phone and acts insulted that I went someplace! I have to repeatedly explain to her my job as mother is not to chauffer her around!

JRED: I try not to get on the weather channel! I like surprises. My hubby thinks I am nuts! I think he may be right!

TRANQUIL: Way to go on the #s! You are doing so great! Your success is inspiring!

TONI: I know what you mean about changing favorites! I used to eat eggs every morning. I did that for three or more years. Then one day, I looked at the eggs, and thought, I can't do it! Now I have a protein smoothie for breakfast most mornings! It took about two months for me to like eggs again, but I can take them or leave them. Do you suppose it was the sausage, and the fat that made you ill? What will you replace them with?

YELLOW: Living on the edge can be exciting now and then...don't you think? Did you move from Texas? I must have missed something...

POOCH: Glad you had a good time riding horses. Hope the bruised posterior mends soon! It sure is hard when you can't sit easily! Remember tho, you can probably lay down just fine!

FILLISE: I think it is great you work with the senior high kids. Some of the best influences in my life as a teen were non related adults who took the time to treat me like a person with something worth getting to know. I had a teacher, and a previous teacher, as well as a young mom I babysat for that were great influences in my life. So many teens now days need some rational adult influences... Thanks for investing your time in the kids! That is pretty cool you have newspaper clippings about your grandmother cooking for church suppers. I wish I knew something about my grandparents....

Hey, I think I did ok for someone who is falling asleep on the keyboard from lack of T3 and T4 thyroid hormones, don't you agree? I remembered all that, even in a brain fog!

Off for my nap!

HiedieHo All!!!

Nothing new or exciting!! Just thought I'd say Hi!

Went to church this morning and was going to go to the Antique Fair in Olde Towne but just didn't feel up to it, it is so hot.

Some of you were talking about working with young people. I was a GS leader for 25 years and a Sunday School teacher and superintendent almost as long, also co-director of youth choir. I used to sub for any teacher that couldn't make it on a given Sunday. Used to pray that the kindergarten teacher was never out. The real young ones intimated me!!! Used to like from about 4th to 8th grades.

Today in church our choir director had the Youth Choir present a program. It was just great to see some of the talent out there. I could appreciate the hard work and preparation that goes into something like that. Shame all that work goes into a one time presentation, they should take it on the road!!!

NANCE: We used to tell our kids that if they went out when we weren't home they should leave a note on the counter telling us where, what, when, who. One time we went out, thought we'd be back before they got home. Car broke down and of course we weren't! No cell phones those days (I keep telling you all I'm OLD!). When we got home we were practically attacked for not leaving a note on the counter. So kids do worry, even though they won't admit it! So think that way!! Then the calls are kinda (but not much) nice.

MEL: Did you feel the earthquake? I've been to Plattsburg. If my DD felt it in MD, she probably shrugged it iff, she livd in HI and they often felt tremors.

TONI; Seems like i"m in a reminiscent mood. Your eggs reminded me. When my DH was terminally ill, I had a hospital room set up in the living room for him and was sole caregiver. Every morning when I'd ask what he wanted for breakfast he'd say three and two (Three eggs, two toast) and I fixed it for him. I mentioned this to someone and they read me the riot act about chloresterol etc in eggs, didn't I know what I was doing to him etc. etc. I could hardly get a word in edgewise. Finally when asking me again didn't I know what I was doing to hinm, she had to breathe and I said "making a dying man happy! If he dies a day sooner because of eggs at least he died happy about something!" She looked shocked turned on her heel and started to leave then turned around and said she was sorry. You have to have quality of life as well as quanity.

I love eggs, they are quick and easy to fix, easy to have on hand but since we are not in danger of dying sometime soon I guess we ought to watch them. But I am not very good about that and have not grown tired of them.....yet.

POOCH: I am so envious. When I lose enough not to have to ride a Clydesdale, I would like to go horseback riding again. I did a lot of it in my youth. Used to take out trail riders for a small dude ranch.

Bored you all enough.

Take care, Shirley

Angry Updates All Around

Well, I worked my first ever 3rd shift this morning. Midnight till 8am. I was ok till about 5am, then dragged until about 7am. I got out some apple slices and munched on them while I did paperwork, figured the natural sugar would give me a little boost.

DEB - I will be working 4-midnight on Thursday and Fridays, and Midnight-8am Saturday night(sun AM) through Monday night(Tues AM). It's going to be hard to sleep for a while. Yesterday I took a 2 hour nap in the middle of the day to try and help. Then I came home this morning at 9am, and went to bed until 2pm. I'm going now to try and take another nap, or at least lay down and read and rest. I bought a small insulated lunchbox/cooler, the size that will hold a 6-pack of soda... and last night in it I had in Ziploc baggies... 1 apple, sliced, some carrot stick/broccoli/cauliflower veggies, some legal pretzels nibblers, half a PB&J, some dehydrated apricots, 2 bottles of water, and a FRESCA for my soda cravings. I figured I'd be prepared for anything I craved, veggie, crunchy/salty, fruity, and the sammich I did great... drank water, never drank the Fresca, ate the apple at about 5, ate the sammich at about 7:30. Then when I woke up at 2 I ate a nice big lunch, I'll eat dinner tonight like normal... and take some of the same snack stuff tonight. I think my sleeping will be harder to adjust than my eating..LOL

Thanks everyone for the kind words and thoughts about my SD. He's in Princeton Baptist Hospital in B'Ham... and my poor mom has been there for over a week with only 2 sets of clothes, and no way to get more... I feel awful for her, and I hope Tuesday or Weds when I'm off we can maybe get down there to take her some more! No change in my SD, they still have him sedated. His lungs have cleared up, but he's still relying heavily on the respirator for his breaths because it hurts him to breathe... so he's still on it. I'm not sure how much longer he's going to be in the ICU, but then he'll be in a regular room for a while after that. It's been quite difficult for my family, and we're so thankful for everyone's well wishes I'll post anything new as it happens.

Well.. I'm off to try and nap for about 3 hours... maybe that will help me stay up tonight/tomorrow morning!

Meliris-You mean you slept through it!!!

Beth-Oh my gosh your hours are awful!!! It sure will take some getting used to. I'd get so mixed up I couldn't remember what time to come in. LOL.. But it looks like you've got it in hand!! Your poor Mom my heart goes out to her. I hope your SD gets better really soon. Hope you have a good nap!

Sef-I love eggs! So I've been using them as a Sunday morning treat. But I'm not so sure now. I really have serious CAD and if my heart doctor knew he'd pinch my head off. But I also figure the SB way of eating is doing so good for me that maybe 2 eggs a week wouldn't hurt for now. I'm learning though certain foods aren't mixing well with me since I started this program. Isn't it funny how life is always changeing and always giving us curves.....

Monet- Sounds like a nice lazy Sunday for you and bet you did a little nap..... Sounds like you need those thyroid pills.

Fruit-You can do it gal... You make me want to run out and exercise or something....LOL...

Gracious- I hope you're feeling better. Man you are having such a bad time. Must be because your immune system is so weak right now....It would be easy to fall of program with all thats going on in your body. Take care....

Nance-LOL did you drive through Missouri on your ride. Sounds like it with all the old cars etc. I think everyone in town has at least 2 old cars per household here for there back yard....

jred-Glad your voice is back. Its mighty warm here to.....

Tranquil Oh my gosh how wonderful!!! I'm so happy for you!! My gosh you are going to surpass your goal. Oh what a good inspiration you are. You go girl!!!!!!! Yummy on the quiche that sounds so good.... I didn't get to try my tan stuff cause I was to lazy. I played on my computer this week-end. Tomorrow back to the grind of life.

Deb-Sounds like your week-end started in the pits!!! Yuck I hate when that happens. You lucky getting to go to garage sales... I love to do that. Theres not much around here because the town is so small. Theres a building in town that rents out little booths and I keep a booth there most of the year and put yard sale stuff in it. I love to look in other peoples booths and get a bargain.

Well enough for tonight. Having a major hot flash so I'll go fan myself..... Till tomorrow ta ta......

Red face Night Night

It has been such a scorcher of a day – so hot I have really not had much to eat… even my fuzzy loved ones seem lazy and not very hungry!

Jred – Glad to hear you are feeling better! Has your son made it home yet from SC?

Nance – your drive through the countryside and the surfside sounds wonderful!!! I agree that the crustless quiche is wonderful – mine lasted for a couple of meals

Gracious – hope your stomach has settled!

Fruit – I love Scrapbooking too! So much fun, I love to do it for gifts….

Monet – Hope your nap was a good one and you feel better!

Sef – I am not giving up Eggs either – hahahaha

Beth – Sounds like you are doing just fine with the new job and keeping up with the Sbers WOE!! You’re a tough cookie with the hours you are working

Toni – Thanks for your encouraging words! I am so excited about the loss, I have been terrified to mess up today!!

Good Night All!! Sabrina

Just wanted to go on record with this: I never did get that nap! Two of my sisters got on AOL instant messenger at once, and I just HAD to chat with them for a few minutes! (One is in Chicago, the other in Boston, I am in Atlanta, and I have not seen either one for four years!) After they got off, and I was going to log off, my favorite neighbor got on, and we had to discuss children stuff....then my hubby got home, and my older daughter got home from work...and the lazy Sunday afternoon was gone! Oh well! There is always tomorrow! Nothing like a lazy MONDAY afternoon nap, right?

Sweet dreams everyone!

Today was Boogie's bday- we had a cookout and some friends and family over. It was so HOT! Boogie was a little sick today- not acting like himself. I hope it's just a bug or something(anything other than heart related). I must confess that I totally blew SB today. I ate chips and cake and ice cream(it was lowfat..lol). And guess what happened- I got an upset stomach. I wonder if it was the sugar and carbs that done it I sent the rest of the cake home with some friends One thing I am proud of myself for doing is finally having some energy to get outside and do some yard work- I sweated buckets!
