Howdy, all!

I'm no longer sore from my bike accident - wahoo! I still have scrapes and bruises, but I feel like my normal self again. This weekend, I was miserable - my entire body was sore like ****. I'm so glad that feeling is gone.

I STILL haven't lost any more weight, but now that Lola is gone for most of the month (which means all the crap food and sugary treats are gone, too!), I can excel a little more at this weight loss thing. I've decided the reason why I must not be losing any more weight is because the quality of the calories I've been consuming hasn't been the greatest. I've been staying under 1,600 calories, but they haven't been the best things for my body. Starting today, I'm eating nothing but HEALTHY stuff, so the scale better BUDGE! (yes, yes, I know, I'm very impatient!)

Raffaella: PR food is so good, and I don't resist it - I just eat less. As for weighing myself only once a month, I find that near impossible, because I have a scale in my bathroom that I feel compelled to step on multiple times a day. I can tell you one thing, though, I haven't lost any weight for about a month!

Thin: I bet you're super excited about Florida, and I'm sure you'll have a great time - Florida is a great place to visit (though it's a crap place to live! haha!) Still, the theme parks in Orlando are so much fun.
Sugar free chocolate, to me, does not taste even close to as good as the regular stuff, but maybe I'm not eating the right sugar free stuff to begin with. I avoid sugar free desserts... if I'm going to eat it, I'm going to eat the real thing.

Morning . . .

Another hot and steamy day . . . my this is getting tiresome. Actually I didn't sleep well last night and woke up with a very sore back, very high BGL -- 9.1 (164) -- and decidely foul humour. Then found another "kitten-sprinkled" spot just to add to my morning's fun. Anyway got to go out and buy another can of SHOO. It actually seems to work at keeping them off the furniture as long as I spray every day. Trouble is I don't like the smell of it either so it's also very effective at keeping me off the furniture too.

Hopefully I'll happy up as the day progresses. Did you know . . . as far as burning calories goes, 100 good hearty laughs are considered the equivalent of 10 minutes of rowing . . . Looks like more giggling leads to less jiggling, gang. I could sure use some hearty giggling right about now.

Hope you all have a giggling good day lined up . . . See you later, gators . . .

sorry I've been away for a bit lol. I've done a VERY VERY BAD THING!

I made cakes. and cookies. and I'm due to make some more! lol

My bf has the week off work so I'm making cakes and cookies so he doesnt get bored. One of the lucky types who can eat anything and not gain an ounce.

My sugars have been ok, I forgot my long acting insulin last night, so I wasnt in the best shape this morning. things have changed since and I'm fine now.

I'm back into the healthyish foods, made the bf a chip butty(sandwich) for lunch and I'm having broccoli cheese soup. yay!

I also had my references sent off for my new job with a Charity called the NSPCC, hopefully I can start monday! ^-^

Good Morning,
Shane-I buy sugar free chocolate only if it has the BEST TASTE award. Don't get much for the money;but, maybe that's a good thing.
Meowee, Like the giggels-less jiggels! Ought to tighten up the burried abs too!
Casandra-had to make food for a reunion. Made soft sugar cookies and glorfied rice. Did real good that day-ate regular plate and snacked on a bowl of veggies. Actually lost 2 of the 3 stubborn pounds I gained. Was shocked but happy.

Hi All
sorry i have been gone so much lately, but things have been busy. surgery is on monday and all the dr apt in prep can be draining. also a week after that i have my bf coming to sf for a much needed visit. he is back in AZ temporarily helping his mom.. his mom that i can't STAND lol but there is good reason for it. she has a problem with me being black! in her words, she doesn't want black grand children. can u believe that, in freakin 2007, there still are people out there like that. well me and bf had a long talk about her ugly words and i let him know that she doesn't have to have black grand kids, because with that attitude she won't see my kids at all. she knows we are going to be moving in together soon and getting engaged and yet she can utter something so ugly. i feel bad for my baby, because he is getting torn between two very important women in his life. but on a good note i think she is starting to warm slightly to the idea of me being a dil, because she has stopped saying negative things about me. maybe she is finally realizing im a good thing for her son regardless of my race, but i think it has more to do with the fact that the first time she said something about my race my bf took her to task for it and she saw that he was dead serious. i guess the wedding is going to be interesting LOL. well other than that drama im doing fine and i hope everyone else is as well. will try to be around more this week before i go in for surgery on monday.. i'll be gone that entire week recovering.
well take care ladies and

Hi again gang . . .

I was just going to quickly post this wonderful little article from D:Life about some of the better choices available on the drive-thru menus at some of our better known fast-food joints . . . http://www.dlife.com/dLife/do/ShowCo...e_through.html . . . which I will also put in the T & T Sticky, of course . . .

Then I read your post MICKEY and I just had to say something . . .

OMG, the woman is definitely living in the past century. Amazing that somebody could still be so ignorant in this day and age. I know exactly how you must feel . . . I went through the same thing with my own Mother about 35 years ago when I got engaged to my second husband (he's black). Good grief, I'd been married once already (and widowed) and was living on my own and raising a child and she still dragged me off to the Psychiatrist to "have my head examined" for being so stupid. Want to know the funny ending, though. Deryck and I divorced after about ten years of marriage and my dear Mother took his side and remained great friends with him after we split up. So just try your best to ignore her nastiness and hopefully everything will work out just fine and she will soon realize just how lucky the family will be to have you added to it. And I'll say again, exactly what I said to my Mother at the time . . . "the world will be a much better place if more of us do everything we can to break down the racial walls as quickly as possible." We've come a long way in that 35 years, but obviously not far enough yet.

Anyway . . . sorry for my little but that just struck a cord and not a particularly pleasant one either.

Hi JEANNE Boy that's a long trip to the store.

Hi CAROL Congratulations on dumping that weight.

Hi CASANDRA Hope you get the job.

See you later guys . . . keep on doing the good stuff.

Cool

Hi, all. Just got back from the endo. My A1c was 5.8, the lowest it's been in years! On the down side, my creatnine was up, which is bad for my kidneys. My doctor says I must be eating too much protein and i need to go see the diabetes educator and learn to limit proteins. Sigh. I've been eating a lot of meat and cheese. i suppose I'll have to give it up.
Mickey - I'm sorry about your MIL's attitude. Facing surgery, you don't need that added stress. At least she is located in AZ instead of SF.
Shane - glad you're feeling better.
Meowee - .
Well, I'm working up to spending August OP, telling myself I can hold out until Labor Day. Wish me luck.

Meowee: it really is amazing how backwards some people can be isn't it. funny thing is my bf asked what my family was going to say about him and i said. NOTHING.. they don't care because we are not the first interracial couple in my family. all my family wants is for me to be happy. and my family is from the deep south! so we are not strangers to racists, but living in sf so long it just shocks me every now and again. i just have a real problem with a woman looking down her nose at me when i know i am a good catch. im educated, i live in sf and can afford to live in sf, im pretty and i come from a good family. my mother had a degree in business and my father has a ph.d in chemistry! all of my people live in 4 bedroom homes in the suburbs of sacramento while she is a step away from a double wide! i just wish she would be happy that her son has found a really good woman that loves him and that he loves. *sighs* well what are ya gonna do. if she wants to be that way theres nothing i can do to change it. i just find it sad. well thats enough of my rant lol take care hun

I don't have too much to say, but I wanted to comment on this...

Mickey - WOW... that is absolutely insane, though unfortunately, living in the south, I've seen quite a bit of racism - no, not towards me, obviously, I'm pasty as they come , but my girlfriend grew up in a small hick town where everyone's racial mindset is still stuck in the last century and there were several white guys in high school who had crushes on her but didn't dare admit it until much later because their parents would freak out if they brought home someone who wasn't white. For some reason, white guy + black girl still = no in some people's minds, even more so than white girl + black guy. It's ridiculous. Heh... I even have this friend who refuses to date ANY women of color (black, Hispanic, Asian, nothing) because he believes the "white race is dying" and that while some women of color can be beautiful (he named Halle Berry and Gabrielle Union), it's "not us" and he therefore can't do it. YEs, yes, I know... I'm FRIENDS with this person? He is actually a great guy to know, apart from his racial views, and he has no problem with me and my girlfriend, or anyone else in an interracial relationship, ironically. If you and your man are really forever, his mother will be forced to come around someday.

Good Morning Gang . . .

Another hot and sticky one . . . but I do think it's a little less humid than yesterday and the past few days . . . time will tell, I guess.

My BGL is still running in the 7's (125 to 130) in the mornings and dropping down in the evening. It was 4.8 (86) before dinner last night. All in all not too bad seeing as I stopped my bedtime insulin shot and I think those numbers are 'real' rather than a gigantic high following a gigantic middle of the night low.

Kittens managed to destroy the little plastic toilet paper roll-holder last night. No idea how. Sooooo, now I need to get a new one. Not the most exciting or fun purchase I can think of.

back, ROSEY . . . so glad you had such a great time. Funny about the seat warmer. The 'on' switch for mine is located in a spot that gets bumped by stuff periodically so I do know what you mean. I have never in all the time I've had this car, actually turned it on purposely.

You know SHANE . . . I think we'd all be a lot happier if everybody in the world was one even, homogeneous colour . . . maybe some shade of green or purple would be good . . .

Why does popcorn pop? I know you cannot stand to wait another minute to find out the answer . . . so . . . here it is . . . Popcorn is a special variety of dried corn that contains about 14% moisture. When it's heated, that mosture turns to steam creating pressure inside the kernel of about 135 pounds per square inch and the hull bursts. The starchy interior then explodes and expands to about 35 times its original size, turning the kernel inside out. If you are finding lots of unpopped kernels at the bottom of the bag, it's usually because the corn is too old and has dried out. Without adequate moisture, popcorn just does not pop.

Well, I'd better get moving and shaking. See you later, gang . . . have a great day.

Hi All. Blood sugar was 155 this morning which I’m not too jazzed about but really can’t complain because its a result of eating out last night with friends. This week has been bad and it only started! This is my second day of high sugar count.

Anyhoo, last night I had hearts of palm topped with red onion, tomatoes, avocado and a cream dressing then farfalle pasta with salmon, spinach, peas, sundried tomatoes in basil cream sauce followed by sponge cake topped with liquer, strawberries and fresh whipped topping. Fabulous!

Thin – What brand of chocolate did you buy? I’m not a chocoholic but I like a piece of dark chocolate once and a while. The dinner sounded great. Do we have a recipe topic on this thread?

Meow – Your babies must have been sending vibe to my Sacha because he peed on the bed in front of me yesterday afternoon. I think its because he was upset the entire night because I was trying to socialize a dog with my cats, then the following morning I left early and came back in the afternoon without paying much attention to him (He’s very attached to me). So I came in yesterday afternoon and sat down to the computer with a glass of water. I looked over to him and he started peeing on the bed. And then people say we shouldn’t anthropomorphize animals! And thanks for the giggles because I sure could use them.

Shane – Glad to hear your feeling better. We should start another support group called ScaleSteppers Anonymous! I’m always tempted to step on the scale but its such torture when it doesn’t move. I try and jump on once a month. My favorite PR food is roasted chicken with

Casandra – What sort of fun stuff did you make? I’m not a good baker so I didn’t make the effort anymore.

Jeanne – I love Walmart! The closest one is in Jersey but a Super Walmart is over an hour away so I go to the regular Walmart.

Mickey – You’re soon to be mom-in-law can say what she wants because it seems your BF is unaffected by her bull. Unfortunately there will always be bigoted idiots running around. I work with an Italian-American museum and you would be surprised at how many Italians don’t know there own country’s history. When I talk about the Moorish and Greek influences in Sicily they look at me like I have six heads. I feel like telling them “Where the heck do you think you got thank kinky hair and olive skin from?” Just plain ignorant is what I say. I love all things Middle Eastern and always have. No one ever gave me flack until 9/11. Now I feel like I have to defend my likes.

Rosetta – Glad everything went well at the Drs. I’m going to look into a diabetes education class in my area because everyone is suggesting it.

Akrosey – Glad to hear you had a good visit and that is pretty funny about the car seat. Aren’t you glad you were vindicated?
