Default Hi

First name: Rebecca

Geographical location: Atlanta

Age: 38

Marital Status: Married

Children/Ages: None

Occupation: Government Worker

Pets: 3 Dogs

Hobbies/Interests: Crafts, Playing clarinet, Outdoors, Dogs

Height:5"6"

Eye/Hair Color: Blue/brown

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: June 2003

Starting Weight: 230

Present Weight:230

Goal Weight:135

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: Emotional overeating/binge eating.

Following any specific plan: Meal delivery by a local company. Exercising to DVDs.

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: My mother--whose body type I share--was recently hospitalized for type IV kidney disease due to type II diabetes. I will likely follow in her footsteps if I don't get a handle on my weight. All of my siblings have gotten their weight issues under control--I am the last one. I am too old to still be struggling like this.

Anything else you would like to share with us: I hope to have children soon, and I know that at my current age (38) and current weight, I will be climbing an uphill battle. But I want a family.

Default Hi! I'm Julia!

First name: Julia

Geographical location: Illinois

Age: 33

Marital Status: single

Children/Ages: none

Occupation: currently a Creative Director (marketing), but my real career is acting. This is one step in my journey to get back to what I love the most.

Pets: shelter dog named Archie (after the red-headed teenager); wirehaired daschund mix

Hobbies/Interests: all things pirate, theatre and film, music, mentoring and coaching

Height: 5'6"

Eye/Hair Color: brown/brownish black

Starting Date of Weightloss Journey: starting again today. This has been a lifetime journey, though.

Starting Weight: 307

Present Weight: 293

Goal Weight: 180

Biggest hurdle to overcome in weightloss: Finding balance and putting myself first. All of my past weight loss success has happened when I have ate, slept and breathed weight loss. I was relentless and laser-focused on myself. As soon as I'd introduce some balance, the scale would fly.

Following any specific plan: Richard Simmons Food Mover (had success before)

What is different this time in your weight loss efforts than in the past: Past efforts were always about how I felt - or because someone else wanted me to lose weight. Now I have serious health consequences because of my weight. In the past high blood pressure was not something I had to worry about. I'm still looking for the right medicine a year later.

Anything else you would like to share with us: My most successful weight loss to date was in 2001. Thanks to forums like this one and the Food Mover, I lost 50 pounds in 6 months, bringing me down to 201. I was living in NYC and 9/11 happened. I took in friends who were displaced and put their needs before mine. I've been doing that for more than a decade now. It's absolutely time to stop.
