Hi gals - yes, I now have a DH! Wow, that sounds strange to say! Seeing the wedding ring on him is very strange as well!
Things went well - the weather was beautiful and most things went off without any issues. There were a few small glitches, but I'm hoping most people didn't notice.
We leave tomorrow for our honeymoon - Barcelona, then a Mediterranean cruise (mostly Italy). I can't wait.
I'm trying hard to hold my own on the weight front, but it's been hard - I'll step on the scale tomorrow for the first time in a week. The cruise food will be hard to resist, but I'll try to do what I can.
Hope you all are doing well - thanks Kim for starting the new thread! I'll be back on October 14th!
Cindy
I've been on the YOAD since February and have lost 42 lbs, but am most pleased with how much better I feel. Who knew that I didn't have to go to bed with a stomach ache every night! It's changed our whole family and my two young kids say they have more energy and can "run faster" on the playground. (Neither of them have even the hint of extra weight.) They are my biggest supporters and want to know how healthy everything is before they eat it.
Lately, though, I have sort of lost my appetite. I enjoy fish, but am getting kind of tired of it. At least, tired of preparing it. I could eat at Red Lobster every night. Maybe I should reread the book or add more protein to my diet. Has anyone else gone thru a blah period?
Oh, and Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday. To make matters worse, they now have dark chocolate peanut M&Ms. A siren's call. Just smelling the candy in the holiday aisle at the market makes me salivate. Ah, caramels....
First of all Congratulations Cindy!!! omg I was away last weekend adn then my pc was in getting fixed..its not fixed I have to get a new one I guess ...missed you guys while I wasnt on here.
Next Iwas so good while I was away...then I bought a big bag of halloween molasses candies..and ate adn ate and ate...then threw the bag away. I was sooooo up last mondya and then worked my tail off all week..and managed to lose 3 pounds overall this week. whew..... Im down 4.5 into my 20 pound goal for xmas.
Next Lovdroz...I feel like that sometimes as well...I cant back into salmon right now...I was eating it once a week but sort of burnt myself out on it. I go online and see what I can find to mix t hings up ......I look at recipes and cookbooks......I search for info to help me......I dont give up@ I may make a few U-turns---see above--- but I keep getting right back on. Im going to do this .. Congrats on the 42 pounds gone! that is awesome and its so cool your family is right with you..my dh is going thru this with me and makes it much easier!
Hi everyone, I am new to the boards and my hubby and I are going to be starting YOAD on Monday....I've needed a few days to read the books and to get everything planned out. I'm hoping that with the support of this board I will be able to figure this all out. I'm most concerned about the meal planning. But we'll see how it goes. Hubby and I have set our first weight loss goals. Hubby wants to lose 50 lbs by April and I am going for 30. We are promising ourself some kind of reward if we meet the goal....we havent' decided what yet, but the rule is that BOTH of us has to reach the goal in order to get the reward. We felt this would make each of us more accountable because we wouldn't want to disappoint the other....I'm a little nervous cause the first few days of any diet is always so hard. I look forward to logging into this forum and getting lots of support.
Hope you all have a great weekend.
Fernanda Major YOU turn for me. I just got back from Las Vegas and I feel like I ate my way through the electric city. I have to do a major YOU turn and work towards looking like a Just kidding but I need to really lose and get serious. One of the girls I met in Vegas has started a competition between now and Jan 2nd for our small group of gals. We are calling it the Biggest Loser and it's based on the highest percentage of weight lost between today and then. The winner gets to decide where we all will meet next year........wish me luck! I am going to change my ticker to reflect my current weight......I gained. Have a good one and again to Fernanda
thats sounds like alot of fun Kim....
Fernanada welcome to our little corner of the site...
Well this past weekend was our thanksgiving. I think I got thru it ok. The scale looked good this morning anyways. I kept everything pretty simple with no extra calories. I did splurge on some stuffing( i passed on the buns which i can have anytime) and a small amount of gravy. No butter on anything..and dessert was a crustless pumpkin pie with small amount of cool whip. Today dh and i had our traditional hot turkey sandwich,,I made them open faced ,,little gravy,,more turkey and oven fries. It was very good..thats it for they gravy though......Im freezing the rest.
Im still walking my 100 miles in 100 days...
Hi everyone! Just wanted to pop in and say hi, "HI". This is not my first go with YOAD. I tried it once before, planning ahead and recipe ideas was an issue with me in the past. Breakfast was also hard, I was to stubborn to try the steel cut oats and I really don't care much for cereal.
Anyway, I decided to buy the oats last night and with different ideas I have compiled from this site and the YOAD site I made them today. OMG, they were SO good! I cannot believe how different they are from oatmeal.
I think I am going to give this another go. I was going to do the WW flex program since I have all the books at home but I always feel like I am eating artificial sweeteners all day just to stay within my points.
I didn't weigh myself or measure this morning so, after going to the grocery store later I think I will be all set to make tomorrow an official start to putting my life back to were it used to be (when my weigh wasn't on my mind 24/7).
I also want to set a Christmas goal for myself but want to make it realistic. Anyone with any ideas. I am 5'7" about 198 and 35yrs. I wanted to make it 20# but we are already almost half through Oct. Do you think 15# would be a realistic goal?
Hey Lori! I know a woman who is 38 and she has lost over 100 since March. She makes sure she walks every single day without fail. She does cardio kickboxing and core exercises. I on the other hand am 50 and I am not as active as she is and well, I have had to make more than my share of YOU turns. I would set my goal for 15 and if you lose 20......berries for your steel cut oats. LOL!!!!!
The Target Cafe in New Albany Indiana has steeled cut oats for $1.99. They freeze the oats and then they microwave the oats when you order them. You should be fine. You get hooked on the Steel Cut Oats.....so filling and satisfying. Cottage cheese and pineapple sounds really good!!!! They may help with the sweet tooth. Have a great day!
Hi Lori,,I eat steel cut oats for breakfast too...I add ground flax seeds plus cinnamon and a chopped up apple to mine. mmmmmmm its so good. I also add a tiny bit of splenda brown sugar to mine..I just cant eat mine without something sweet. But Im adding less and less all the time. I re-heat mine all the time.
Im back on the two week kick start...I decided I needed to get my act together again. Im on day 2 and so far so good. I think I needed to detox from sugars again. Things were showing up more and more in my cupboard that I knew I shouldnt be eating. All the bad stuff is gone again.
Still walking too.......
well, I am back. Who knew that not having a plan would stall my weight loss?
Today I am re-starting YOAD. I *WILL* make it to 199 by the 31st if I stay on plan. I got the exercise covered - 30 to 60 mins a day plus lifting. It's the eating I need to work on. I am taking out my book this morning and planning out a few days at a time. I can't wait to be under 200!
