Hi! My name is Raff and I'm following the WeightWatchers program, but I can't find the points for Sashimi. I've looked on the internet for the nutritional info for various types of fish, but that hasn't helped either.
Do you know of a website that lists Japanese food and the caloric contents?
If you have the Dining Out Guide, in the back there is a separate little part with "ethnic" foods. There is a short Japanese section and there are pts for California Roll and sashimi and a few other dishes. It's hard to find, but most types of sashimi will be similar.
The book I have is the Dining Out Companion and all it lists is fastfood restaurants. I'll take a trip to WW and see if the have the book you're speaking about.
If you look in the very back of the Shopping guide, there is a very small section with "ethnic" foods. Actually, I think they are in both the Dining Out guide and the Grocery guide. Look in the front and back of the books. It's in there!
I appreciate the help, but maybe you all have a different book. Because I have the Supermarket Companion and the Dining Out Companion and there is nothing in the back of the books.
Hi Raff,
In the Complete Food Companion, here is what it lists for Sushi and Sashimi:
Sashimi:
Sashimi (except salmon or mackerel) 4 pcs .. 1
Sashimi, salmon or mackerel, 4 pcs .... 2
Sushi:
California roll, 4 pieces (1" high x 1 3/4" diameter) or 1 oz each ..... 3
Janet, thanks for posting that. I didn't have time to check my manual today.
I've been buying sushi at our local grocery and the nutrition facts are listed. The seaweed salad is zero points! Sushi, seaweed salad and miso soup makes a great light lunch!
Thanks so much! You don't know how many times I have looked for Sashimi and couldn't find it. I just checked again and there it was! Duh! I'm such an air head.
Are Cucumber Rolls the same as California Rolls? I'm slowing starting to try sushi, but so far that's all I've had and I was wondering if the points are the same. Since it just has the seaweed wrapping, rice and bits of cucumber in the middle I figure it can't be too high in points.
A Cucumber Roll is just cucumber, rice, and seaweed. A California Roll is "crab" avacado, cucumber, seaweed and rice. I don't know how much of a difference in points it would be.
