Default Duncan Hines Muffins

I just bought a box of the Duncan Hines All Bran Muffins and am confused about the calories listed on the side of the box. It says that in the mix itself there are 110 calories, .5 g fat, 5 g fiber. Baked accoding to the directions there are 140 calories, 4 g fat, and 4 g fiber. I have two questions with this--
(1) Why does the fiber go down when you add other ingredients?
and
(2) If the directions call for 3 tbsp vegetable oil (which according to my bottle would be 360 calories), 1 1/4 cups milk (approximately 135 calories) and 1 egg (60? calories or so) and the serving size is 12, why does this only add 30 calories total to each serving? According to my math it would be about 45 more calories for a total of 155 when baked according to directions. Am I calculating something wrong?

The reason I wanted to know this was to figure out how much it would cut the calories if I added applesauce instead of the oil. Has anyone baked these with applesauce that can answer this? And how much applesauce should I use-- the same as the oil (3 tbsp)?

I am not sure I can answer your question totally. But I can tell you I make these muffins with egg beaters, applesauce, and skim milk and count them as 1pt each. (I use the same amount of applesauce as oil). They are REALLY good in my opinion!!

I make them exactly the same as Tara does and count them as 1 point each. Enjoy them.

I have also made these with applesauce, egg whites and water. No matter what I do, I can't get 12 muffins out of it. I also thought they were very sweet, but still good for 1 pt. each.
