Default have just arrived in Melbourne.......

G'day all,

Arrived about 3 hours ago, I am running a bath to relax after a very exhausting 2 days.
The apartments are VERY posh. We were getting here about 5pm and daughter was going to meet us here.
She rang on her mobile 'cause she couldn't find it, told her again and stood on the balcony out of our bedroom to see if I could see her. The next thing I saw their car and it appeared that they were going to drive past so I yelled her name which she heard in the car with the windows up It wasn't really the sort of thing one does, yell from balconies at this very posh apartment
Anyway it was lovely to see her and her fiancee and they will come around in the morning for Mother's day.
Don't know if it is Mothersday everywhere in the world but it is here.
I will get in to my bath and then off to bed, speak to you all later.
Cheers
Maria

Well I did it again. I wrote a nice long post and then lost it . So rather than try to think of it all over again I'll just say Happy Mothers Day to all of you. Do you all have big plans? We are having a BBQ.

Happy Mother's Day to all. I hope each of you has a really pleasant day with the people you love most. I am not sure what we are going to do. I think my son is fixing lunch or brunch and my daughter is fixing supper. I think that means I don't have to cook or do dishes.

I ended up getting him 11 pairs of shorts. All but one is permanent press. And they are a real soft chambray that I think will become permanent press after all the sizing is gone. Besides they were only $12. I can't resist a bargain. Found him a nice looking pair of leather sandals on sale too. You wouldn't believe the ugly things he bought last year when I wasn't with him. I wouldn't let him wear them out of the house. They are truly double ugly.

Sorry about the missing post Karen. I have had that experience several times. There is a thief out there in cyberspace who steals really good posts.

Default ...end of a busy day

Hi Everybody

DH and I went out and bought a few more flowers this afternoon and also some tomato plants. I planted the flowers but not the tomato plants yet. My grandchildren phoned and asked if they could come over......of course we said yes, so we had them here for a few hours and then we took them home, bathed them and put them to sleep. Our son went to the movies with a couple he and our dil go out with. I think they felt he needed a little break.
Tomorrow my son and grandchildren will come here for Mother's Day. DH and Son will BBQ the steaks and I'll take care of the corn on the cob and asparagus.

Happy Mother's Day to all the gals on this board........
whether you are Mothers/Daughters/Aunts or Wives, you are all very special in the lives of other people.

Default ...end of a perfect day

Hi Everybody
My son has gone home with his babies to get them ready for bed....school tomorrow. We had a lovely day. The children were in the pool again today, although it got a little windy later and the Princess started to turn blue.
Our dinner was great, and trust me A-1 sauce does come out of a carpet and blueberry stains do come out of little boys shirts if you use "SHOUT IT OUT" immediately. I also would like to mention at this time, that there was no permanent damage done to the Princess's teeth when she jammed a toothpick in her mouth to show us how her other grandfather walks around after dinner.
As I said, end of a perfect day. Night all.

Default this time I typed in word.....

Slavika aren't grand children fun. Tooth picks and little kids give me nightmares.

Lily your right I have been very busy just enjoying my time . Last year I was still working my tail off with the two jobs so it is nice to have time to do little things like rake the yard. Play Badminton with my family. My 4 year old grand son is pretty good . He keeps you running. Haven't had a chance to try the Skinny cows yet. I've heard that some of the stores in Brainerd carry them but in this weather I'd have to eat them all on the way home or they would melt.

Geri I too love a sale can't resist buying a bargain. Was shopping for my self this past week got some great deals.

Maria again I say I envy you your travels .I do hope you write a travel log to go along with the pictures for your web site you are planing.

Trudy how did your trip to the Casino go? Did you win a lot?

We had a BBQ here at my house this afternoon. Mom and Dad were here along with my three kids and their mates and small children. My younger Brother and is wife and kids were also here we had a wonderful time the sun was shining and the breeze was blowing. All the food got eaten it was great.

Ann just was re-reading the posts and saw you were talking about ironing. I've never liked to iron . When I was at the age to learn those chores we lived in Panama and had a maid to do those things . Then we returned to the states my Mom got her first dryer and we discovered permanent press and the rest is history.

Better push post before something happens.

Default ...alas... no fortune won!

No, we didn't walk away with a barrel full of money ...in fact the casino ended up with $3.00 of ours... We were up and then we were down. We had a lot of fun though. As you can see... we are "high rollers"
The Ink Spots were really good, (of course they are not the originals, they all long gone.. a couple of the older guys were playing with the originals though). They sang all the old songs, and some from the Mills Brothers, and the Platters, songs from the war years... Some songs took me back to High School ... we really liked the show.

Mother's Day was really nice too. My Mom was so happy.
Slavika... you sound so calm as you write about toothpicks , and stained carpets... you are a trooper.

Good night all. see you gals tomorrow.

G'day all,

I am using the notepad, could be a long one
I hope you all had a great Mother's Day. It was lovely having at least one of my children visit. Received a phone call from my son. When I told him about the apartment he is quite keen to come and visit.
Geri you asked if I ever get homesick, well I do miss my family and friends but because of the internet and travel becoming cheaper it is not too bad.
Our family home which was quite large with a beautiful garden, we sold when we knew the sort of life we would be leading. Last year we bought a smaller house with a VERY small garden just near the beach. It is a lovely location and if it had not been for dh's new job we could not have afforded to have bought there. The house was brand new so all we have done is put in curtains, pergola and had a front fence build. (It never ceases to amaze me that THAT front fence cost as much as it did to build our very first house )
We haven't spend that much time there and whilst I like living there, I am not as attached to the house as I was to the house we sold. Hope all that makes sense.
I would very much like to make my web page as a bit of a diary as to where we are and what we are doing.

Great news, this morning I went with DD to the city and we bought her wedding dress! It is just beautiful though not a very 'bridey' sort of dress. It is in a beautiful blue, cut on the bias and it is just stunning. She is thrilled to bits. Did some other shopping as well, found a jeweller to make their wedding rings and we just had a nice day out.
She loved my outfit, thought it was a lot nicer than she imagened
I was reluctant to buy it so tight but boy it has given me great new incentive. I intend to make our 6-7 or 8 week stay here alcohol free and I am back to faithfully journaling. I do love my glass of wine but it also makes me stray badly
Where we are staying is on the outskirts of the city with a view over the botanical gardens, it is just lovely and ideal for walks.
Trudy sorry you didn't make your fortune, the few times I have been to a casino I have never come out in front. Does anyone ????????
I'll be off to make a big pot of veggie soup.
Have a great day all
Cheers
Maria

Happy Mother's Day a day late. It sounds like you all had a nice day. My boys were here and 1 grandog. Dh cooked a big breakfast. Went to my nieces later and celebrated with my sister and her kids. Sister raised me and her kids are more like my sisters. We celebrated 2 birthdays. It was a nice day. Now it is back to reality and diet time. The Longaberger trip was fun. The girl who ran it was so organized. She had prizes all the way up. Some of them were retired baskets. I won a basket tie on. They have a huge apple basket at The Homestead. It is at least as big as a garage. I didn't get to see them weaving since it was Saturday and they stop at noon. Next time I am going to go to make my own. They have someone working with you. And of course I had to buy a little basket and liner. We are going to do it again in October. Trudy you have my luck at the Casino. I am usually out of money a half an hour after I get there. Geri what a shopper you are. You got a good buy on shorts. I had to chuckle about the sandals. Have to get ready for a funeral. Have a nice day, Peggy

Default Monday Alas..........

Slavika: Sounds like you had a wonderful Mothers Day! Im glad that A1 sauce does come out with SHOUT IT OUT! That is wonderful stuff! Gotta love those kids dont you?

Karen: I really wish my DH would find permanent press. But he never does. Even wgen I nag. I told him he was gonna have to start Ironing cuz I was sick of it. None of my clothes need it so why should I have to be the one to Iron????
Im glad you are finally taking some time to enjoy yourself. You deserve it!

Trudy: You spend Like I do at the Casino's! I take my 20$ and when its gone Im done. I can ususally last a long time on it to! The show sounded great. I would of like to seen that. Brings back many memories just thinking about some of the songs!

Maria: The wedding dress sounds nice. Would love to see a picture of it. I think you have the right idea on your web page. It would be very interesting to see the different places you go. My DH does good in the Casino's some times. But he spends alot more than I do or ever will.

Peggy: The Longaberger tour sounded fun! And you even won something to. I bet it would be interesting to watch them weave the baskets. I would like to see that! To bad that you missed it. Sounds like You can go there and learn to make your own? That would be really great!

Sounds like all had a great Mothers Day!
We had my sister and DH over and did a barbeque. It was fun and quiet. Was a beautiful day to sit outside and visit!

Default ......funny day today

Hi Everybody

We had funny weather today, it was windy, cloudy, sunny and warm at different times of the day.
I got my tomato plants into my little garden. I had planted flowers in a window box on the garage and today I noticed that a squirrel had been digging in there. Now I don't think "Sammy" would be that bad mannered but I will have a talk with him when I see him, and see if he "knows" who did DAT.

I got all my IRONING done today too. I was thinking about all the talk of permanent press shorts and things on the board and for awhile now I have told DH to check the label first before buying. I like the chambray shorts and they do require ironing but not much and he does have 3 pairs of them.

I'm glad everybody had a nice day yesterday. Well WW tomorrow. We are suppose to wear/or change into something we wore before we lost weight. The only thing I kept was the dress I wore for my Son's wedding. I'll take it with me and change at WW. Later I'll have the gals back here for tea. I think it will be a fun day.

"Talk" to you all tomorrow, and Trudy I'll see you tomorrow. Night.

Just lost another great post. Too bushed to type it all again. Congrats Maria on finding the perfect dress. Hope all of you had a great day yesterday.

I went to the gym today and did 2 hours of weight training. I probably won't be able to move tomorrow. Then I went to my daughter's and the angel let me iron all day. I ironed 40 pieces. I am tired!

Need to go check my e-mail.

Slavika and Trudy---how is Dee and her family? Give her our love.
