Oh my gosh! I can't believe I'm not the only one up right now! Good morning Kier!

OK, I gotta go clean the toothpaste off my shirt (apparently I can't keep the toothpaste in my mouth when I brush this early). Will be back later to post!

Day #2 of Kindergarten ... well, we're up ... but NOT raring to go.
OK ... must get but in gear. I'm going to a WW center to weigh in on the way to work. I hope I don't hit a lot of traffic. I'm new to this 9-5 schedule. I'm working on getting up @ 5-5:30 AM to exercise first ... it's just not happening ... YET! I've done it before, I can do it again.

Off to make lunch & dinner ... I have class tonight so I'll get home about 9:30-ish. What a day!

Later gators!

Good morning, Kier & Jess!

Default Stopping In Again...

Yikes! A brownie 2-Points Bar and Diet Sunkist Lemonade don't mix so well...

Well, I've been up since 4:30, ick and we're all pretty much delirious here at work. :hypno2: I have SO much to do tonight! I need to finish packing, I have WI and when I get back from WI, I need to go straight to work at my second job. Why do I do this to myself? And after that, I need to go home and clean my apartment, so it's not a mess to come home to on Sunday. There just aren't enough hours in the day!

WI will hopefully be good tonight. My mom is a Lifetime Member and lately she's been lecturing me about my eating habits. I don't eat a lot during the day because I like to do most of my eating in the evening. I typically have 1 cup of cereal (typically Fruit Loops or Apple Jacks) or a 2 Points Bar for breakfast. For lunch, I have a bag of Orville's SmartPop and a yogurt. Before working out, I have another 2 point snack of some sort. I work out, go home and have a nice, big dinner--often a chicken enchilada (thanks for that idea, Lisa) or stir fry veggies with some sort of meat (thanks for those instructions, Jayne) or something else. Then I have popcorn again later in the evening as a snack. I think this all seems perfectly healthy, but my mom says that's not the way that WW teaches you to eat. Maybe I should have more fruits and veggies, but they go bad faster than I can go through them. What do you guys think?

Kier--I don't know about you, but I consider anything before 8 a.m. the "arse crack of dawn".

Deb--Have a great (busy!) day!!

And Jayne, CONGRATS!! That's wonderful, I knew you'd get the position!

OK, must work a little now... sigh.

Jess-
It seems to me like you should try and work in a few more fruits and veggies....but if what you are eating works for you...keep at it! Everyone is different and we need to find a plan that works for us. I say do whatever makes you happy and healthy!

Deb-
I hope weigh in went well for you! I am going to the center on Saturdays...so only a couple more days until I see how week one went.

I have not tried any of the two point bars yet. They good?

I cant believe that everyone here has a life as hectic as mine! Guess we are all in the same boat.

Time to get some work done...check back in later.
Have a great day all!

Good morning ladies!

Man, it seems like it has been forever since I have checked in. Life is getting really crazy.

Let's see what I can remember from yesterdays thread.....

Kier ~ I am glad you have your own place, privacy is important! Your Gram will miss you!

Cat ~ You are my exercise idol!! Way to go on the mountains and trails!

Jess ~ So, where are you going again? Somewhere on vacation??

Jen ~ Thanks a million for the crockpot receipes (you too Jayne!), I use the crockpot too, and it saves me so much time in the evening!!

Jayne ~ Congrats on the job!!! Way to go!!!! I always wanted to work part time with having kids. But, I am the one with the great insurance, so it just never happened.

Jen2 ~ I hope Law school isn't getting the better of you, lots of work. Make sure you give yourself a break every once in a while!!

I am starting to lose it, can't remember much! Oh yeah, a big welcome to Jibbelle!! This is the best group you could ever belong too!!

A great big "Gooooddd mooorrrinng" to Belle (in Thailand), Lori, Ali (how are you doing girl??), Laura (how is Christian?), Lisa (in the lovely state of Alaska), Becky (the wedding planner!), Kim (also the wedding planner!) and all that I forgot!

I am in the midst of fixture purchasing for our new house. At this point, if I have to go to Menards, Home Depot or Lowes again, I wil puke. I also know all there is to know about gas fireplaces. I am actually happy to be back at work, at least my kids and myself have a normal schedule again. Home building isn't as "fun" as some people let on.....

Well, my little girl started 1st grade this week, she walks from school to my parents house (which is only one block) and then stays with my dad until I get off of work. Well, for the next few weeks I am actually following her in the truck to watch her walk and make sure she goes straight there and such (I am an overprotective mother, I know..) anyway, I am following her yesterday, and crying, thinking how much my girl has grown up, and how fast the time goes.....so, my words of wisdom to those of you will young children, or none yet....time flies by, enjoy every minute with them!!

Ok, it is TOM, I am very "Hallmarkish" this week.....

Well, better get some work done, I will be back in a bit....

Hey girls.

Things have gotten hinky at work. I'm probably not going to be around much for a week or two.

Take care of yourselves. Good luck remaining OP and making your goals.

Morning Ladies...
Just got back from my first day on the job. Kiddos don't start until next week, so it was mostly orientation and planning type of things. It was all pretty overwhelming, but I think as soon as the actual classes begin, I will get more of a feel for what I'm supposed to be planning for (as opposed to now, when I am clueless)and plan thusly (is that a word?). It is working with a really neat bunch of ladies, but you know, there's always one that bugs you right from the start. Not that she's a bad person, but just her mannerisms and the things she says bug me for inexplicable reasons. I feel like I'm back in third grade and she's vying to be the teacher's pet. She is new too, so maybe she's just a bit overeager. I don't know, I'm so petty, but have you all got that one person at work/in your life that bugs the crap out of you for no good reason?

Kier - the @sscrack of dawn...OMG, I fell over laughing at that one. That's a new expression for me, and one I think my hubby plans on using regularly now, because I had to try it out on him right away you know. He thought it was too funny.

Deb, sounds like you have a pretty long day. Maybe being so busy will keep you really focused and OP...I'll be getting up with you at 5:30 to run, so you will know you're not the only one up at the "@sscrack of Dawn". Thanks again Kier, hehe.

Jess, I bet the brownie bar and diet sunkist gave you the funniest pucker face ever. I just hope you were lucky enough to eat it all right after a good tooth brushing so that you got that nastiness in there too. I think that as long as you're taking a multivitamin to get in all of your vitamins and minerals, that your diet is fine. Just be sure you shake it up variety wise to not get bored. A quick question -- do you get really hungry midmorning? I ask because eating something sugary with no protein will really kick your insulin level up high and when it crashes around midmorning, you might be feeling starving and tired. Just a thought...if you tried milk with it, you could get in some extra calcium and vitamin D (there you go, Jess's mom) and just stretch it out that much further. You can do just a 1/2 of milk for a point, even. Think about that. But it sounds like your popcorn is giving you lots of fiber, and that your dinners are healthy. I think that is how WW intends you to eat, as it is a flexible program developed to fit in with the way you live, not the other way around.

Marcie, the 2 point bars are sooooo nummy. I used to just close my eyes and pretend it was a candy bar. When I was teaching, I'd eat one mid-morning at my desk since I had a late lunch, and the kids would all be salivating over it. IN fact, they would ask their moms to get them those for their snacks. They're awesome.

Tonya, I have heard from many people that building a home is number one on the list of life's stressful experiences. All of those decisions to make at once can be really overwhelming. I hope that you are remembering to take some time for you, in spite of this busy time of year. I would be just as overprotective of your little girl as you are...it's scary to think about letting them fly out of the nest on their own like that. You're a really good mom!

Laura, I hope work gets better for you. I'll miss you, and I hope you're able to at least lurk in the next few weeks here and there. We'll be here when you get back!

Lori, I know what you mean about the neverending struggle. Will we ever be able to quit obsessing over what we eat and when we eat it and how many points we have left? No, I guess we just have to accept it, hard as it is. You'll be svelte and sexy for the wedding, tho, I just know it!!!

Ok, I better clean up my sty of a house...it's hard getting out early in the morning without leaving it in a shambles...

Later, Gators!
Thanks, by the way, for all your congratulations and confidence in me...it really helped me to find some confidence in myself!!!

Hey all... hectic day of trying to figure out what to do before I leave at noon tomorrow. Ughhhhh... Can't wait tho!!!!!!!

Jayne, is Aaron in daycare while you are working. I didn't realize you started so soon!!!

Jess, my personal opinion is to eat more veggies. Why?? Most are zero points and have fiber and good for you nutrients that will fill you up! But I'm not your mom!

Tonya, Good luck with the home. I so want to move to the middle of no-where. I absolutely cannot stand my neighbor. Tho I talked to 2 other neighbors last weekend and they don't care for them either and were shocked that they had the nerve to call the cops on our dog. So at least I have someone on my side!!!

Well, I better try to figure my work life out.... can't wait to just get away, but I am such a worry wort!

Default Dum-de-dum-dum!

Well, weighing in did NOT prove to be pleasant for me. But it DID kick me in the phat a$$. I'm up like 6 lbs. A few things to consider:
A) not the same center/scale
B) different clothes (I'm a little OCD about what I wear each week & when & what scale I use)
C) had to pee & didn't use the bathroom before weighing in
D) not that I've been eating OP during the week ANYHOW, last night I had a big & unhealthy dinner too to make matters worse.
Now I expected a gain, but this was some gain.
I'm updating my sig line, and I'm going to weigh in again @ the same (my NORMAL) bat time, bat channel, etc.
I've got from today till Sunday to balance out & de-tox.
So am I making excuses, YES ... but they are contributing factors to today's experience.
I've got to find my mojo ... the same mojo that got me so close to goal last spring (not this past spring but the year before).
I know that moving out & ending this relationship would help a lot.
I'm considering going to therapy for eating disorders. Really. Just talking about it, might be good for me.

Well on to YOU guys, enough about me!

Lori - How are things going? Is it true that September is the month when the most babies are born? I bet you're busy, if that's the case!

Laura - Good luck @ work & staying OP!

Tonya - Welcome back stranger! Fixture shopping sounds like fun. Do you have any pix of the house to post or a website so we can see? I too have PMS, and yesterday putting Jeremy on the bus for Kindergarten went pretty well all things considering.

Jess - Work? What kind of standards does your boss have??
And I'm sorry, but yes you should get in a VARIETY of foods - that being fruits & veggies. You should follow the 7 daily guidelines to healthy eating - my leader preaches about that. But he's so right. It's not easy sometimes, my fresh fruits & veggies go bad. I try not to over buy. I can always run out & buy more I tell myself.

Hey Kier! A happy 'puter is a good thing to have! How are things going?

Jibbelle - Good luck Saturday! I weigh in (that whole "NORMAL" routine thing) on Sundays.

That's my 2 cents ladies ...

Hi Jayne! I think you've posted while I'm writing this & I'll check it out now.

Default QUESTION FOR YOU CHEFS

Why do you have to wash & sort black beans when making the black bean soup recipe?

Much obliged!

Deb, Wash beans to get rid of the bean crud, like dust and stuff. Basically, just rinse them in a colander (that is all I do). As for sorting, that means to just take out the smashed pieces and the deformed ones. If you really don't care about that, then you really don't need to do it. I am not that picky when I do and have never had a problem.
