Default Thursday Morning

Good morning everyone! I don't know about anyone else, but I'm looking forward to the weekend (even though I have to work for a little while on Saturday). Last weekend was way too short for me!

Still feeling a little disappointed in my gain of .4 after being OP for two weeks, but I keep telling myself to stick with it and hopefully I'll be down at WI next Tuesday...

Lisa--It's not wierd that my leader didn't offer me any insight as to why I was up--he's the worst leader ever. This is the same guy who told me that maybe if my BF didn't feed me so much Greek food, he might like me better. Then, he asked one lady if she was worried about wearing shorts if it was because of the weight or the varicose veins. He's an a-hole. I'm hoping that the problem was water--it's been miserably hot and humid here and maybe that combined with not drinking my water has something to do with it. And, even though I'm not feeling any symptoms yet, I am a week away from TOM and maybe it's got something to do with that. I was just super-disappointed because I'm 1.4 lbs away from getting my little 5 lb start for 35 lbs lost. It's been so long since I got a little star that I was really looking forward to getting one. Oh well, next week will be better, without a doubt!

OK, I just got some new email, which reminds me that I'm at work and should probably get a little bit done today (because nothing got done yesterday).

Will check in later!

Default Quick Hi!

I am trying to leave early today so I'll keep my posts real short (and I have a morning deadline).

The GAP issue is that they are cutting down redwoods to build factories. In addition, they have questionable factories (IE sweat shops) abroad that are being protested. Therefore, the "i'd rather wear nothing than wear GAP" Protest. Since the protesters are against the effects of globalization and capitalization, places like the GAP, Mc Donalds, Starbucks (which was the big target in Seattle) are at risk b/c those arethe targets.

I went to see Minority report last night (to stay cool in air conditioning!!) I hate Tom Cruise, and I dont' think he is attractive in the least (yes, I know most women would find me insane, but Larry Mullen from U2 is more my speed) but I really liked this movie. It was super good!!

Jess - don't feel bad, I was OP for four weeks and I gained 4whole #'s. I was distraught. Iam WI today at lunch so we'll see. My scale this morning said 206, fully clothed, but I seriously doubt that. Probably I'll remain the same (hope hope). Its odd, I have been OP too, but not exercising this week (too hot after work, too tired in teh morning, poor excuses, but the truth) and I am sure it won't be a good week for me....

Anyway, good luck to anyone else WI today and hi to Kirsty!!

Adios amigos.

Hey everyone! I am here lurking. I have a paperwork day today b/c I was on call last night. It was pretty benign-only a few phone calls-made up for the weekend from ****. Ate ok yesterday-had a few pieces of brownie that someone was evil enough to bring in....oh well..I WI tomorrow-we'll see...
Hoping to get to the gym today to lift, and then to run outside-but it's been really hot!!!
So GAP is the latest thing to protest? I don't buy their clothes usually b/c they are too expensive..occasionally I find something I like at the outlet though...and isn't Old Navy a GAP subsidiary? DOes that mean we have to protest them too???
Belle-Good luck with WI!!!

Hi guys - I'm working early this morning - I leave early to make a flying trip to vancouver island (over on the 1:30 ferry and back on the 10:45pm) - It's our uncle's birthday and we want to celebrate with him cause he's been ill. But of course I couldn't get tomorrow off and it's a long weekend here (Monday is Canada Day!) I barely slept last night because it was so hot and today it's raining - go figure.

Jess - Like you, I am looking forward to the weekend. Too bad yours will be marred by some work.

Hi Kirsty - welcome back

Belle - I almost went to the same movie last night (to get out of the heat) It didn't do too well at the box office but I want to see it too.

Lori - I hope this coming weekend will be less horrible for you.

OK - on to the mass of e-mails. Have a great day everyone else who posts (and the lurkers).

Morning All.

Belle - I too loved Minority Report. Usually don't even bother seeing a movie with Tom Cruise but was fascinated by this one. Good luck at WI.

Jess - Slight gains when you've been OP are dissappointing. I have no doubt that you will get your star next week though.

Lori - your gym plan sounds like mine, although, I've decided to run on the treadmill, I can't fathom running outside in this humidity.

Thanks for all your positive comments about being .2 from goal. I actually laughed when the scale came up that way - rather ironic to me.

Lisa - my plan is still to try and lose to 130. Although, I'm not going to make a concentrated effort until after the 4th of July. I was looking at pictures from when I was that weight at the end of HS and love the way I look not too heavy, not too thin - just really healthy! If I can't drop it oh well, I look pretty healthy at this weight.

Default Hi!

Am I the only one that would choose to see a movie simply because Tom Cruise is in it??!! I've liked him for as long as I can remember. It's not that I find him particularly good looking, and he is shorter than me, but I have always liked something about him. Plus, he has the same b-day as me! (but is 12 years older!)

Winter - I hear you about the humidity. It has been brutal here. I still have been running outside as I hate treadmill running, and am training for a 10K, but my runs have been shorter and slower than normal. Running along the lake is great because the temp. can be up to 10 degrees cooler, but I live a mile and half away, so by the time I run there, I only run one or two miles along the lake so I can still run home!

KT - Have a fun little trip today!!

Hi Lori! Yeah, Old Navy is a GAP subsidiary and so is Banana Republic, so I assume people against the GAP are against all 3. That corporation is really hurting financially anyway, so maybe there won't be anything left to protest after a while!!

Belle - Larry is more my type, too!

Hi Kirsty!!! I followed your advice and saw the statue of David when I was in Florence - WOW!!

Jess - Don't worry, I'm sure next week's WI will be better. Just stick with it!

Work is busy, but I am meeting a friend for margaritas after work today so that is carrying me thru the day! Then, tomorrow I am going out with a few friends for a mini bar crawl, Saturday I am supposed to head to Milwaukee for Summerfest with THE BOY!, and then Sunday I am going to the Taste of Chicago for Country Music Fest. So, the next 4 days are packed with fun for me. I LOVE summer!!

hey everyone

Sorry I've been lurking for a week or so... I absolutely hate not having a job, and I just got a phone call from one of the temp places that I registered with about a job. So I'm trying to decide what to do - it's a data entry job in champaign (so I'd have to move there -about 2 hours away) and it doesn't pay all that well at all ... but it IS a job... and I could get out of my house. I have to call the lady back soon... The thing is, I majored in finance in college and I always thought I'd get this awesome job in a big city as soon as I got out of college... I'd hate to settle. And actually, I think I just solved my dilemma (i really can't spell that word) but it's hard to give up ANY kind of job opportunity.

so anyway

i didn't know old navy was a gap subsidiary - i just looked it up & banana republic is too

everyone is talking about minority report - i might have to go check that out. did anyone else see vanilla sky? I saw it at the theaters a while back, and i just thought it was terrible. really really bad. usually i like the kind of movies that you have to figure out like that - weird, out-there themes. but this one, it was good until the end. until the whole premise of the movie came out.

back to the job-hunt...

ON the movie thing....Angie, I didn't mind Vanilla sky that much (didn't love it) but I really hated Mulholland Drive. I think guys like the lesbian scenes and that is the draw. I was pissed off b/c no matter how we thought about it, it didnt' make sense. It was really quite funny b/c my b/f, my sister and her husband sat around discussing it for about an hour. We are all University educated, yet not one of us could make sense of it. lol. 4 years...for what?? I was frustrated with it though.

Well, off to WI!! AGH....I'll let you all know how it goes.

Not as much, 1.6# down, and I forgot to take off my shoes, but nonetheless - woo hoo!!! I am so pumped. 8.6# in 3 weeks so far. I might make my July 11th goal of 206.4. 3.6# to go.
