Cool Back in the saddle, again

ok the birthday's are over till Thursday anyway. We aren't chowing down today just keeping it quite. DH fixed my bike yesterday. I am so excited! I have been sending him e mails all month about National Bike Month so he gets the hint. But last night as I was switching the laundry he said he wants to ride my bike while I walk. So in a round about way he asked me not to do my walking in the morning as usual, but instead to go after dinner so he can go. I should be happy, I have been wanting him to participate with me. And he did register for the 5k fitness walk in Idywild 6/6 But let me tell you I am board now not energized from my walk, no work, and they both are sleeping. BORING
But DH is over 400 and I want him to live longer so maybe this is a start.

hey all...I'm not even going to try to get personal with everyone today. I smashed my finger in the truck door this morning and typing is kind of hard. I am sure I broke the tip but they don't do anything for it anyhow but put a splint on it and charge for some very expensive x-rays. I have a splint from Tiana's finger when she broke it so no worries. She is black and blue from the first knuckle to the finger tip. Don't ask...I'm not sure exactly how I managed that but...hey i'm a weirdo!

MsMeri-I wish my hubby would be a participant with me. He says he needs to lose weight but then make up some high fat food.

Well I got my garden done yesterday and the lawn mowed and the edging done. No small feet. I moved the huge trampoline by myself to mow that area. I think I got my workout in yesterday. Plus I am fighting yet another cold. I am having a heck of a time with getting sick this year. I went to bed early last night and slept until 9 this morning

The weekend has been boring. DH's brother is in town so basically I have been pretty much ignored for the weekend. It like there is nothing to he will do to include me in with them. I wanted to go put flowers on their sister's headstone, and couldn't even get that going with them. Kind of makes me mad but oh well....it's more than just his brother. There is more going on than that, but I'll just wait it out. I guess. I'm going to just keep on working on me and try to keep from letting it eat on me.

Well going to go. The finger is throbbing. Time to ice it again and turn it numb. Nothing like a purple nail to match the fingertip. It is definitely going to fall off. Chebk back later. Maybe I can perfect 3 finger typing with my hand. Ha ha!

Hi all and happy memorial day to everyone! Rainy here today but the rest of the weekend we had pretty good weather. I am walking to keep the stress down and to keep me out of the fridge. I have made rainy day and sunny day lists of things to do to stay busy and out of the fridge... I don't mind being laid off so much but the last time this happened I packed on a ton of weight and don't want that again.

Went to W/I on Saturday, was down 2.8 lbs! Very happy with that!

Everyone is posting so fast that I am having a hard time catching up... which is a good thing!

I have to run... take care all... oh yah, as you can guess no life line came for me... I am home from now until I find another job so will take a minute this week to re-read and catch up on what is happening with everyone.

Hi turtles:

Chrily - Ouch! Hope that heals fast & nice job on the weight loss this week!

Princess - Congrats on that terrific loss at the scales! Good going.
Lists are a good way to stay on top of things as well as away from the
boredom munching.

All you guys are doing great! Lets keep it going this week.

Princess, sorry about your job. There is this: you did a fabulous job for them, they absolutely wanted to keep you, your letter of recommendation will be excellent. I know you'll find something else very soon. Smart idea to have of list of ways to keep busy while home. It may be easier now that the weather is nicer. : to keep your spirits up. In the meantime, your : was fabulous!

Chrily, on your weight loss! weigh to go. Sorry about your finger. That really hurts!!!!

I am amazed at how many of us had parties this weekend and the good results and efforts we had.

I had my kids and families over and overnight and today again--we had a chance to swim and have a couple of BBQ's and it was a great time. I did my best to keep points low. I feel like I overate, but when I pointed out the day it seems okay. We'll see. Only have tomorrow to knock down the scale before Wednesday's WI so I'll have to keep on keepin' on!

Good luck to us all. We're getting lots of cyber messages here which is wonderful. I love the newsy messages. Keep up the good work, everyone.

Morning, turtles:

Hope you all had a great long weekend & made good choices. Very hard to do with company for sure.

I got in my walk last night of 30 laps then nice swim/hot-tub and had a good dinner of pork tenderloin with appleasauce & brussel sprouts sauted with onions (very good)

Hope everyone has a great OP day.

Cool up here today & they are calling for rain the next few days (good for the flowers & lawns)

Lets get things under control & all have a great week!

Hi all! Not much new here, the weekend was nice but I know I ate more pointy options then I should have... we basically stayed around the house for the weekend, spent time out in the yard when it was not raining but yesterday it rained most of the day so we were in. I started patching a quilt that I bought at a yard sale last year, I paid $5 for it but I knew that it needed a lot of work but once done it will look cute on the spare bed and working on it keeps me busy.

Went for a walk with the dogs this morning as they are calling for rain this afternoon so we got one in a head of time.

I had found a slow cooker bean recipe on line the other day... I think it was on the WW community recipe swap site and have that going today. If it turns out ok I will post the recipe tomorrow.

I went to Walmart over the weekend and was walking around looking at the flowers... found some black eyed susans and bought two of them. Should not have spent the money but they were under 10.00 for both and I have been looking for them for ages now. I have them planted in the butterfly garden.
Really wished we all lived closer as I have a bunch of plants that are ready to be split and would love to have a plant swap with a bunch of gals... maybe there is one locally... hmmm, will have to look into it. It would be a cheap way to get new things into your garden =)

I have to run, I have to file for my unemployement and that takes a while to get all the info entered. Not sure who it was that asked about unemployement and stated that their state gave out 2/3'rds of their income... I wish we had it so well here, I get less then 50% of what I made before. There is a cap here and some kind of calculation system that they use to figure it all up. But at least I get it for a while and for that I am grateful!

Wink Terriffic Tuesday

bandit- 30 laps! Are you talking about a quarter mile track? That's like over 7 miles. OMG I am all sweaty at 2.85.

Princess- your butterfly garden sounds heavenly, can I come read on a bench among your flowers? what kind of dogs do you have by the way?

chrily-Did you hurt a finger on your right hand? and are you right handed? Guess it brings new meaning to "sticks out like a sore thumb" but you bump it on everything.

Today Oprah is going to have on "How to eat more and lose weight" with Dr. Oz. Think I'm going to record it, hope to get ideas on filling foods. Still clueless on what to add to my diet

I did good yesterday I ate 4 fruits and veggies, a personal best
I still need to go to wall mart and pick up some protein mix to have in the mornings. I have been out for two weeks and I guess I'll wait till pay day

Hi Msmeri - I walk on an indoor walking track and 13 laps = 1 mile.
So I try & do at least 2 miles when I go.

OPrah, sounds intersting. Hopefully, I can catch it tonight.

Chrily, ow!! on the finger and good for you, seeing the scale move! You too, Princess! We just keep stacking those losses up and after a while they really amount to something!

Msmeri, what great motivation, to want your husband to live longer! My DH is heavy too and has such bad arthritis in his knees that he has to use a cane. Water exercises are all he's willing to do, but he goes to the pool with me and keeps moving the whole time he's in the water. (Talks the whole time, too! lol)

I have a HUGE container of vanilla whey protein. I only use it once or twice a week and at that rate it will take me years to go through it. I'd be more than willing to share if you don't mind driving over to pick it up. If you brought your swimsuit we could go swimming together, too.

I rolled right out of bed this morning and did my five miles with Leslie S. I still dislike all the arm exercises but I can see my endurance is increasing.

I had a delicious dinner last night. Started off with my usual "monster salad" base, then added a chopped apple and half a grapefruit cut into sections, then half a package of imitation crab, then poured this citrus dressing (recipe follows) over it. It didn't taste like much by itself but really came alive over the salad ingredients. I'm having it again today to use up the remaining grapefruit and crab.

Citrus Salad Dressing
4 Servings
This tart, sweet salad dressing is wonderful on dark, leafy salad greens like romaine or leaf lettuce tossed with orange segments, black olives and red onion slivers.

Ingredients:
1/3 cup fresh orange juice
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon quality extra-virgin olive oil
Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:
Whisk all the ingredients together or combine in a small jar and shake well. Keeps in the refrigerator for 2 days.

Evening all! Had a nice day here, got lots of things done and took a few walks too to keep myself busy.

msmeri: We have four dogs... a German Shep, a black lab, and a chow mix and a pure mutt. The Shep has to be kept busy or he will keep us busy... cleaning up behind him... he gets into everything if he is bored... he has pulled blankets and pillows off of beds, gone into closets, chewed on throw rugs... and the list goes on and on so he gets more exercise then the other three but he is young and has energy to burn. The other three are all girls and all older, they range from 10 to 15 years old. Our black lab is failing fast with hip problems... But they are all wonderful dogs!

I have to run... have a great evening everyone!

Wink Wackie wednesday

Howdy guys,
I have decided not to go to the monthly pot luck at work today. Just can't track the points on unknown foods. Besides I need to come home and cook for my meeting and WI tonight.

Went for my walk early today 5:30 because I go into work 2 hours on Wednesdays cuz it's a mininium day. DH tried to put the knee brace thing on my I didn't like it. I wore it for about a minute. I don't see how it would help anything, it's just supporting the are a above my knee and below my knee. We'll just have to wait and see what the Ortho dr says on 6/2

Princess you'll have to show me a photo of your fur family. I can just picture you shepard. Typical boy..making messes where ever he goes. Mine arn't so playfull very much...the twins are 9 and the little guy will be 8 in June. I wish they would go walking with me. But they like to cuddle in the blankets in the morning. They don't really get going till after 10am..lazy!

Well gotta go
will check in while I am cooking

Today is the big WI
I'll be drinking lots of water to flush
up till about 2:00
then I cut it off
so I don't have extra water weight

Princess - your dogs sound like they would lots of company & fun. I keep thinking I would like a small dog but then people keep saying about how unfair it is to leave them during the day & since I work, we have cats.
But there is now a place on my way to work that has opened a "Doggy Daycare" I think it was an animal adoption place & now they have started the daycare. That is such a great idea! Maybe something you could start if you have the space. They charge $15/day. I can just picture people getting their dogs ready each morning & dropping them off. Use to do that with my daughter.

Msmeri - good luck today at your w/i. I have mine tonight & since I had a bad weekend foodwise just hoping not to be up.

Judy/Chrily - how you doing this week?
