Hi, Turtle Folk,

Judy, isn't it great to be able to spend some time with your daughter? Some of my best times have been going for walks with my family. Especially if there is just me and one of my guys. Then they talk to me. We have great conversations and I'm hoping to have a few of those when they're here during Christmas vacation.

Hope your WI is as good as you expect.

Lauren, your reminders of party planning strategies are very welcome. Since I don't attend meetings, those reports that you all give us of meeting topics are especially helpful.

If you must fly me to Michigan, do it in the spring or fall! This California hothouse flower doesn't appreciate extremes in temperature! What you should do is come here and enjoy some of that mild golden California weather. I'll cook. I promise!

If we don't hear from you, remember we are thinking of you. Have a great holiday with your family.

I managed to walk yesterday. The sun came out and it turned out to be great weather for a walk. Not today. It's cloudy and freezing. At least it feels like it's freezing. I'm staying OP and will get some activity in because I have a bunch of cleaning to do, too.

You all have been so great about letting me vent about my mother. When I can vent, I don't get too stressed out and add to the chaos. My mother thinks we're close. Which I find absolutely hilarious. She hasn't a clue. If she could really hear what I say to her, we could be close. But that would require that she change her expectation that someday I will take my proper place and become a clone of her. Not gonna happen! I like myself the way I am, thank you very much. The absurd thing about her thinking a daughter is a clone of her mother is that she has three sisters and none of the four of them is anything like my grandmother! I'm closer to being like my grandmother was than any of them are!!

Well, time to go do some of that cleaning I must do this morning.

Talk with you all later.

Happy turtlin'!

I have good news to share. Yesterday at my official WW WI I lost another 1.2#. This is excellent progress for me. I am so glad I tried eating in the lower range, banking a gazillion points and using some of them when absolutely necessary. This is working for me now and I'm finally losing weight.
I'm closer to my goal and going into the new year.
Best to all of you--it's your ideas and inspiration that's helped me tremendously.

I have lots to say about why I do well at the most difficult time of the year and what my plans have to be *right now* so that I don't gain an ounce during this happy season. I don't have a moment, but I'll check in as soon as I can.
I am using the spin smilie because I have turned around my weight gain.

Hi, Turtles,

Way to go, Judy! 1.2 down during the holiday season. I'm looking forward to your post re: your weight loss and this season. It sounds intriguing.

I'm doing fine. The sun cooperated yesterday, so I was able to do my walk. I was super hungry and ate a lot of points at dinner yesterday, but today I'm eating lower in my range. I'm noticing a pattern here. If I pay attention to how hungry I am, I seem to stay within my range because when I get extra hungry and eat more, I'm less hungry the next day and eat less. It seems to balance out naturally.

I never imagined that would happen. Staying OP is getting easier, but I'll be darned if I can figure out why. I'm just enjoying it. It's nice to be able to work on losing weight and being healthy without the program feeling like another stressful thing in my life.

I'm starting a new thread, 'cause this one's getting long. See you all there.

Happy turtlin'! :
