Es, I read in one of my textbooks something about high cholesterol being inherited. I guess that is what they were refering to. I've only had mine checked a few times in the last few years, I don't know what it was like when I was younger.

Jen, how many grands do you have? I have an 8 year old grandson and two granddaughters, Caylin is almost 3 and her sister is 4 months in a next week. I'm babysitting Caylin tonight. I haven't kept her in a few weeks, so I offered while my daughter ran some errands. We went walking around the block, it is about seven tenths of a mile. Of course, it was very slow pace.

I know you enjoyed the time your hubby was off. Mine just started a new job, I don't know when we will be able to spend a week together. So, we are learning to make the most of the weekends. He will be working the night shift so there will be a lot of adjustments to be made.

Well, I had a pretty good weekend. I did go out to eat lunch today at one of the casinos. I ate a salad with italian dressing, boiled shrimp and baked fish, I also had corn on the cob, okra and tomatoes and a spinach dish. By the way, I only had small portions of the spinach dish and okra. This was my only meal for the day, figured since I'd have a hard time counting points, I might as well not take any chances. I snacked on banana and strawberries dipped in a chocolate dip that I make out of fat free hot chocolate mix and fat free sour cream.

Tomorrow my friend and I start back going to ww meetings. I'm really excited. I'll let you know what my weigh is and what my goals are. I think I'd like to try for 15 pounds every 10 weeks. That sounds reasonable. My goal weight is around the 125 mark. That would put me in a size 7. (I think) It has been so long since I saw 125 I'm not sure what size I will be in!! LOL

Well, better check on the Caylin. I'll check in with you tomorrow.

Diane, I hope you are OK. I know you live near JFK. My dad is retired NYPD and I know that one of his Beats was Far Rockaway. I have to tell you I am afraid to listen to the news anymore. It seems everyday there is a new disaster to deal with.

Zoe, I am so glad that you are OK. You had us all concerned. You know my girlfriend was having panic attacks and it turned out to be perimenepause(sp?). Have you considered that as a cause? Me, I'm just having the night sweats.

Es, Great job with getting that Chol down!!! You are very special to us and we want you around a long time!!!

Well Everyone, STeve was gone all weekend and it was just Ellen and I. We had a really nice time together. Her Birthday is this Friday and we spent the weekend planning and buying stuff for her party. We put the little favor bags together and she picked out a couple more presents. Girl stuff. It was really nice.

The weather here is really stormy. I hope you all are having a great Monday.

Isn't this awful? I'm supposed to go to NYC tomorrow morning for a breakfast meeting. I'm not sure if I can get in. The NJ Transit buses aren't running today. Hopefully they will be running tomorrow morning.

Janie - I'm okay, thanks for thinking of me. We've been receiving calls from relatives all morning. I was really scared though because my sister lives in Far Rockaway and I couldn't get through to her, because my phone was'nt working and then neither was hers. But thank God she finally got through to me and she and the kids are fine. She lives about 4 miles from the accident. She and I are separated by a bridge of water. I'm in Howard Beach and when you cross the bridge over the water, you are into the Rockaways. The accident occurred in Belle Harbor which is halfway between my home and hers. Its scary when you can't reach someone. I got a call from my job this morning asking if I was okay, because Willie and I took the day off cause we went to a fundraiser last night and knew we wouldn't be getting home until around 2:00 a.m. Everyone in my job knows where I live so they started calling and couldn't get through.

I truly believe this was an accident not a terrorist threat, but of course, they are being extremely cautious and have closed the airports and the bridge to my sister's house is closed as well.
Also, after what happened on September 11, people get scared when they hear of airplanes crashing!

I feel so terrible about those poor people on the plane - its horrible. My heart goes out to them and their families.

I hope you are all well, and I'll speak to you soon.

Hugs,
Dianne

I have no knowledge of the geography of New York, so my ignorance shows when I hear of something occurring there and I don't know where you live in relation to the affected areas; my immediate thoughts were of you all.....Essie, Myra, Dianne. What a sad day, again, for all of us, especially for those of you in NY.

Ruth, I've got two grandsons, both my daughter's boys, Brandon was 6 in September, Matthew is going to be 17 months at the end of this month. Brandon and his mom lived with us the first year he was born, she was a single mom. He and I really formed a bond. I love spending as much time with them as I can; they grow so quickly, my kids' childhoods sped by and I miss it! They live 30 miles away, so usually spend two (or more!) weekends here a month. We've always been a close-knit family, and try to see as much of each other as possible.

Es, you are so right about being strong the next few months. I'm discovering the double-edged sword of having the luxury of being at home......while I'm able to pursue school, and other interests, I'm also eating more than I would if I were out of the house 60 hours a week, as I used to be. Gotta stay out of the kitchen!!!! My goal this week is 3 meals a day. no snacks. That will be a big first step for me.

Terri, glad the Steelers won! My Bears lost to the dreaded pack.....sigh.....

Hi to everyone, Janie, I forgot you last time! sorry

have lots of homework, will check in later

~Jen

Diane, Glad to hear that you and your family members are all ok. I hope they open the bridge to your sister's house soon. You 2 probably need to give each other a great big hug.

Terri, I feel terrible... I am not always getting all of the messages and I'm not sure why, anyway, I missed the fact that YOU DID IT!!! Way to go girl!!! We are all so proud of you. From my own WW lifetime experience I can tell you that you are now on the hardest part of the journey. It's like graduating from college. It's not the end it's the beginning of the rest of your life. You'll be great though, You have to, 'cause we're all depending on you to show us the way

HI to Myra, Joyce, Jen, Es, Zoe, Ruth and Bouphy...did I forget anyone?

Just a quick note. Glad to hear that everyone is okay. I didn't realize that we had so many so close to New York. Of course, since I'm new, I haven't had time to really learn where everyone is from and remember it.

Well, I went to my first weight watchers meeting. I know that I have weighed between 186 and 188 THIS YEAR, but tonight I weighed 178.4 lbs. I was proud!! I only have to lose 53 pounds to reach my goal of 125. I know that I'll succeed this time, I came close last year, this time I'll make it.

I have some homework that I've been neglecting, so I need to get off the computer.

I am so glad you are all ok.
Dianne,
I am so glad your sister and her family are ok. That must have be HORRIBLE for everyone. I was worried last night too because I couldn't get on the site. I wish the pilot (if he had to crash somewhere) could have made it to the water.
Does your sister know the victims? This community has been through enough all ready with loss of firefighters and policemen.
My heart goes out to them.

Thanks for the congrats JanieD. and Essie.
It feels good but yes, the hard part is here. Maintaining. I know I will not gain it back this time. Because I have y'all.
Thanks!

Ruth,
Congrats on the good weigh-in. I'll bet it is wonderful getting a head start with this. That is like a loss of 10 pounds from the start.
"weigh" to go.

We went to the Veterans Parade in Huntsville yesterday. There were thousands there. First big turn out in years which is a shame. We go every yr.
The news carried it live (as they do every year) and I set the timer on the VCR just in case and we were right in front of where the anchors were. The roving reporter came over by us and grabbed Brandon and asked him a few questions. He had to say his name and tell why he was there. After the parade Brittany took the boys to the VIP seating area (across from us) because they wanted to thank some veterans and shake their hands. It was heartwarming.
Bruce talked to this older man behind us a lot and here he was a WWll pilot. He introduced us to him after the parade and Bradley hugged him.
We just got done watching "Band of Brothers" on HBO (It was on for 10 weeks) and it really makes you appreciate veterans more.

Well, I'll talk to y'all later!

Terri

Good morning everyone,

Terri - my sister's brother-in-law lives in that community and one of the houses that burned was across his backyard. He was lucky his house did not catch fire. I feel so bad for that community in Belle Harbor, they lost quite a number of firemen and emergency service workers on Sept. 11th. And there are about 16 people missing who were on the ground when this airplane hit. So sad. Two women here at my job live there as well and one woman's house was hit by a piece of the plane, she's out so I don't know exactly how bad the damage is. Thank God, her sons are in Catholic School so they were not at home when the plane hit.

Anyway, on to some good things -- Terri congrats on reaching your ww goal!! That's great news. Congrats to you too Ruth, its nice to start out on ww with a 10 lbs loss - good job!

Hi to Es, Jen (thanks for your concern) you too Janie. Hi Myra and Joyce & Zoe. Hope I didn't leave anyone out. Have a great day everyone!

Hugs,
Dianne

Hi ladies, I'd give anything to be a morning person. The last few days I have crawled out of the bed feeling like I have a hangover. Of course, I know its lack of sleep. My husband is working crazy hours this week, 2am until 10:30 am. He goes to bed about 6 in the evening and I usually stay up until he goes to work. Next week he starts his regular shift of 9pm til 5:30 am. I think we will like this better.

I am so ready for the winter break at school. One month of nothing to do but work on myself and my home. I can be a pack rat and I need to do some major organizing. So that will be my goal for December and January.

I met a nice lady online last night. She has lost over 100 lbs. I visited her web site. When I signed her guestbood, she actually emailed me back. Seems her mother was from the same area of Louisiana. Anyway that was fun, we emailed back and forth for a little while.

I hope everyone is doing great. The food journals that you keep are great. I read them every other day or so.

Well off to work.
Ruth

PS where do you get all the cute graphics you use

Thanks Dianne. That poor community. It is all so senseless.

We still the graphics. You can get gifs just about anywhere. gif.com. or put in a search for them on the search engine. Save them to a folder and hit browse and it will take you to your folder and you click on the one you want and then hit ok and then it will come on.
