Talking Fabulous 40's #106

Jen's post from page 2

See you's later.

---------------------------------------------------------
Happy New Year to all of the Fabulous Forties!!!

I am glad last year is over, it began with a bang for us when Joe had the heart attack on January 24th. As always, hope springs eternal, and I'm feeling positive that this will be a wonderful year for us all!

Es, love your New Year's baby.

We had a nice evening last night......tons of "party food" that we only make once or twice a year. So it was worth it, and now it's over I had my doubts about making it till midnight, but I did and was in bed by 12:20!

Today will be quiet; Brandon is returning home he finally gets to play with all the new toys from Santa that have been waiting for him!

have a wonderful New Year's Day...

Jen

Hi Gals,

I am ready to do it right. Back to the basics today, I will journal, drink my water and make a double batch of 0-pt soup.

We had a really great time over the holidays, celebrated with lots of family and friends. We saw old buddies, that we hadn't seen in about 10 years. Now I just want to keep the spirit alive through the winter. I do tend to get the doldrums at some point each winter, and I hope to sidestep them this year with all of the supportiveness I see here.

Wishing all of you a happy, healthy and WW successful year

Embracing the journey,
Sandy

HI everyone,
Thank you all for the get well wishes. Through a complex mix of insurance snafus, and Dr. on vacation, I was finally able to see a specialist on Monday (one week after the accident). He didn't cast my arm though, he put me in a brace. He actually wants me to use the arm as much as possible. I have had basically no exercise since last week and I asked him if I could get back to aerobics if I leave out the arms he said no but he said there would be no probelm for me walking, treadmill, or lifecycling. With no exercise, holiday eating and drinking, and my period arriving today I am supprised that I only gained 3 lbs this week. I am convinced that most of it is H2O but now it is time for strict adhearence to the rules. I am not attending meetings so I was wondering if anyone could post the new program changes for the year if there are any. TIA

Have a safe and wonderful new year!

JanieD

Janie, I'm emailing the Updated Winning Points Information which I received this morning when I joined again. The list of items and their points values were the only changes to the program for this year. It's good that you can at least walk and cycle, right? You know that gain is TOM and water. Good luck this week.

Sandy, glad you had a good holiday. Don't you love the soup? I'm making some today also. Good luck!

Yep, I joined AGAIN. Am going to make it work this time!

HI to all......here's to a new year and a fresh start, from the queen of them

Alright Jen!!!! New Year, New You! Was it crowded? They keep advertising it on the radio & TV. I haven't made the soup in soooo long. I'll make it this weekend. Thanks for the new info

Hi Viola, welcome Don't be shy. Step right in. I think you'll like it here. This is the best time to make soups. I just haven't made the cabbage soup in quite a while cause I buy a whole head & it goes bad. Someone suggested to buy cabbage in the bag. I may try that.

JanieD, does your arm hurt? How long do you have to wear the brace? Don't worry about the 3 lb gain, like you said, it's probably water.

Sandy, it must of been so nice seeing friends from way back. I had this one friend since childhood but we lost touch when I moved from the city. My brother surprised me a couple of years ago for my birthday & invited her. I couldn't believe it!!! It was the best birthday I ever had.

Well, here's to 2002! New Year with a New Attitude! We're going to JUST DO IT .

Hugs,
Essie

Just back from my meeting and, as I feared, I gained, but only .4. I can definitely live with that. It was a tough week. This week will also be challenging. I am going to LI to be with my parents Friday and Saturday. My dad is having a surgical procedure to implant radiated seeds to treat his prostate cancer. Besides the stress of the situation I will not be totally in control of what I can eat and will have to miss a few workouts. Wish me luck and pray that all goes well for my father. The doctor is very positive of his prognosis. They caught the cancer very early.

Myra, my prayers are with your father. Be comforted by the fact that they did find it in its early stages. Good luck with staying OP during the upcoming ordeal. You'll be fine.

Es, I don't even put cabbage in the soup, can't stand cooked cabbage! I make it according to the recipe except for that, then I usually add more veggies and garlic.....can never have too much garlic! And no, it wasn't that crowded. I got there early, anticipating crowds; but due to the fact that it's on a weekday morning, at 9:30, many are at work. I'm sure the "regulars" thought it was a crowd, tho!

Myra, I will pray for your Dad. Where in LI? It's so hard to be OP when you're out most of the time. I know they say with WW you can eat anything but then again you have to make the right choices. Whose going to eat salad all day! You had such a small gain considering this time of year. After all this is over you'll have peace of mind & can get back to your workouts I'm sure Dad will be fine.

Jen, maybe I should try the soup your way. I'm not too crazy about cabbage. Especially if it's overcooked. I love garlic. I'm making it this weekend. I'm so hooked on sweets it's pathetic. The soup will help me thru the cravings. I hope

Hi Sandy

Till later

Es, I can't believe how many sweets I ate during the holidays. It's really an addiction. When we were growing up, my Mom used to serve dessert after every dinner.....now I don't feel satisfied after eating till I finish with a sweet. I've been trying hard to have fruit rather than baked goods or candy.

Sandy, thanks for the link to the recipe. Don't know how to do that!

later,
~Jen

Hi gals,

I wish I could spend more time here on line, it would keep me out of the kitchen
I am really enjoying my soup, I made it the old way without the cabbage and green beans. It is from an old WW handout, one of the previous plans, pre-points. I use lots of zucchini and more carrots, blend some of it to add body. I ate it with my lunch yesterday and today, lots of garlic and basil, yum!

I weighed in this morning and was shocked to find that I did 3 lbs of damage over the holidays. I know that I am back on track, but sometimes it is discouraging, to see how easily I can go in the wrong direction.

Hi Myra,
Sorry to hear that you have concerns about your Dad's health. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I have gone through some real tough times with my folks, and would be glad to listen. I am glad that they caught it early, and I have heard there are good results from that treatment.
I have to share that my mom is going to have a series of orthopedic surgeries beginning next week. These are as a result of a car accident in 1998.

Hi Es, Janie, Jen, Viola and Terri

Adding links is not too hard with this board, when you reply look at the VB code section and click on Http:// button

Myra, Commack is so close to my job. I work in Islandia which is close to Hauppauge. Wow!!! We're practically neighbors. I live in East Patchogue. Lots of people I work with live in Huntington.

Guess what guys? I BOUGHT THE MOST AWESOME TREADMILL!!!! It's a Proform ifit.com which you can log on & have your own personal trainer while you're walking. It came with a CD & the music really gets you going. I love it!!! I decided instead of investing $43.00 a month for the gym I'd rather own a treadmill. That's what I go to the gym for anyway. I am so psyched!

Sandy I remember that soup. That one was so good. I forgot about it. I like that one better than the one they have now. Can you post the recipe when you get a chance? I think we've all gained in the last couple of weeks. I was up 3 lbs. too. Believe me I wasn't surprised.

Jen, one of the attorneys I work with brought in Godiva chocolate She tells me that she knows I can't have any so to give them to Pete! I had 2 pieces!!! I won't throw them out. It's all up to me to either have more & feel miserable for the next couple of days or have some over the weekend within my points. I choose to have it this weekend as a treat.

Myra, if you would have been visiting during the week & if you were staying longer I would have asked you to stop by my job so we could meet face to face. My cyberspace Buddy.

Well, I am home alone so it gives me a chance to email a few friends that I haven't been in touch with since last year (December)

Have a good night everybody

Sandy, thanks for the hint about posting links! Sorry to hear about the 3 pounds, but as you said, you are back on track, and THAT'S what counts. I shudder to think about how much weight I've gained in the last 2 years, in spite of coming here daily! I had a hysterectomy in Jan. 00, was at 207. As of Wednesday, when I rejoined, I am at 230.8. That just plain sucks. I have totally let myself go, and am definitely paying for it now. You make the soup like I do, blending a portion of it for body. Yumm, don't you love it? When I used to take it to work, people would ooh and ahh over the aroma.

Es, A new toy! how cool. I hope you walk your a** off My problem with chocolate continues......for Christmas we received a huge basket of Frango Mints (a local delicacy), containing chocolates, coffee, cookies, etc.....as they're very expensive, I hesitated to toss them. But when I was watching tv last night after dinner, they were calling me...."jenny, jenny, here we are, don't ignore us, just take a bite!" and the next thing I knew, I had downed about 6 points worth, which put me over for the day. This was after a day of careful planning, measuring pasta onto my plate, drinking water. Which shows me I've got to buckle down and toss the stuff. Who am I kidding? I have no self control, at least right now. I definitely have to stop sabotaging myself!

Terri, where are you? The kids will be back in school on Monday, right? Are you home yet? I miss you!

Myra, good luck to your Dad today with his procedure. He is in my prayers.

HI Dianne (hope you're enjoying vacation!) Janie, Ruth, hope you're all well.

~Jen
