Hi Threads..... I was only losing about 1/4 to 1/2 per week and getting really discouraged with the whole thing. Sometimes we eat at the spur of the moment when it comes to dinner since my husband who doesn't have a weight priblem likes to go out to dinner more often than we should. I read this post on another site and thought I would try it.I LOVE it because it makes it seem so relaxing because at the end of the day when you might have "goodies" then have them, Before I would get "nuts" thinking I had only 8 points for dinner until I went to bed and would go over simply because I was so stressed over it. Now I have whatever I want for dinner and sometimes desert, 3 bite rule, and something before I go to bed. Breakfast is always 3-5 points and for lunch always soup, or salad or a huge sandwich with light bread, tons of veggies, and fruit for afternoon snack. I exercise everynight for 30 minutes on the treadmill and play disco cds on my cd headset. Sorry can't get over the 70's. Anyway, try it for a week and see what you think. I have now lost 19.5 since starting this about 6 weeks ago. Let us know how this works.... Patti

Windwood, it sounds like something that could work. I haven't gone to WW for 3 weeks,,too embarrassed. : I will go next week. We are on the Community Weight Watchers, so I have already paid up till the middle of October. Is there a special reason that you excercise in the evening instead of the morning?

One week I walked 17 1/2 miles and gained over 3 pounds,,,and I couldn't tell a difference in my clothes. Thanks for the encouragement,,and keep up the good work. I have no less than 30 pounds to lose. I wanted to get it off by Christmas. Maybe using your method I can. Have a great Tueday. Threads

Hi,

Leader, I started ccounting points with dinner for a very practical reason. My dinner plans often changed at the last minute. And if I didn't have enough points left in the day to handle the spur of the moment switch, I'd end up going over points. When I started counting points with dinner, I could use whatever points I needed and compensate at breakfast and lunch, meals I eat alone. Everyone in my family takes care of their own breakfast and lunches, mostly because we get hungry at different times or are on different schedules. I am much more consistent in staying within my point range when I count my points starting with dinner. And I'm not a night eater, so that wasn't an issue for me.

If you're a person who eats their largest meal at lunch, or goes out often because of your work schedule, you could start counting at midday, I suppose. The important thing is to count your points in whatever way helps you to remain within your point range for each 24 hour period.

Good luck, everyone.

Smile You guys are Geniuses!

This is such a great idea! I had been struggling with the same problem because I never know what we are going to be eating for dinner! THANK YOU!

I'll try anything that might work. I also never know what I'll be having for dinner. I hate looking at something in the fridge and knowing I can't have it as I don't have enough points left. As form tomorrow teatime though I will have points as long as I don't mind compensating with the following lunch and breakfast.

Thanks for the sharing the idea - I'll let you know how I get on with it

Default It's working

Week two of counting my points starting in the evening. I lost another pound. Slow but sure. Plus I'm alot less tense. It used to be at the end of the day I would stay up till I had eaten all the points I was entitled to. Now since I need the points for the next day I quit eating when I should plus I have points for my afternoon snack when I need it during the hardest part of the day for me, between getting home from work and supper. This is great.

Angry

What a great idea. Ive been struggling with the fact that we frequently eat out for dinner and if I haven't planned for it....oh well! We went to our favorite Italian place tonight so I'll start with that. I agree its a mind thing, but if it works who cares.

Default Counting down from evening meal.

I have lost 7 pounds with WW and that sounds good..But I have been going since January!!! I watch all these folks slim down as I barely make headway. Mainly because I cant seem to stick to the points. Someone at a meeting said they started counting at night and I didnt think much of it. But after reading it here, I decided to give it a go! In my journal I start with dinner..fill in the info and then add the breakfast and lunch on the same page the next day ...so its real easy. And surprise! Its so much easier to do it this way! If I have a glass of wine, I can make up for it the next morning when I am less prone to overeat! I think this method will work great for me! I am very excited about it! Thanks all for posting your success with it.

Good Morning! Vi I just read your post. I am confused. When did you start your points using this new method? How much have you lost since using the backward (so I call it) system.

I have been having so much stress lately that dieting has been put on the back burner for now. Don't get me wrong, I am cutting back on the eating but I am not doing the points. Once I get back from moose hunting I will be able to relax a bit,,,I hope !

I know that this will work for me once I start it. Also once I start excercising on the treadmill again. Have a great day folks. Happy trails, Threads

Hi Threads, I have lost 21.25 since starting this about 8 weeks ago. I will NEVER go back to the other way of counting points. I feel like I am finally under control. I know what you mean about stress and hopefully our lives will be back on even keel someday. I am intrigued about your moose hunting. I had it once and is delicous. Hang in there, and best to you and your hunting!!!! Patti

Default Still going...

Hey, all!

I have to fess up. I'd been doing so well and fell off the wagon. I bought myself a package of skinny cow p/b cup ice cream sandwiches last night. Then I made the mistake of watching the program about Flight 93, cried and at the whole thing. Well, confession is good for the soul!

Patti,,,I am impressed!! I think when I get back form "the hunt" I will get back on track. My big problem is,,,when I tell someone that I am trying a diet or a new way of eating,,,I get all puffed up about doing good and then I fail.

Well back to cleaning out the camper. Later.
