Default I'll try it.

Today was my second week of WW and I gained .4 lb. How depressing is that! As if this week wasn't bad enough.

I'm going to try counting dinner first as well!

You all seem so excited about it! Here goes!

I went back to WW this week just because of this post. It made perfect sense to me and I thought I can do this if I figure my points this way. We'll see how it works. Thank you

Default Starting Points with Dinner

I had posted earlier how much easier I think it is to start counting your points with dinner. I went
BACK AGAIN to W.W. on July 30. As of yesterday I have lost 14 pounds.

This way of counting does work. It takes time--planning your meals, measuring & weighing food, & writing down what you eat. But you have to do that no matter what time of day you start counting your points. It takes some work to do but is well worth it. As we know this is not a short time fix, this is a life time way of eating.

Windwood, thanks for starting this post. How is it working for you?

Can someone please explain this to me? You still have to plan (as you say, above, It takes time--planning your meals, measuring & weighing food, & writing down what you eat. But you have to do that no matter what time of day you start counting your points. It takes some work to do but is well worth it. As we know this is not a short time fix, this is a life time way of eating. IT IS THE SAME to me as starting in the morning.

HOW IS THIS ANY DIFFERENT?

Hileader..... You are right to a point. Since most of us eat our larger meal, go to dinner and have parties in the evening, why not have your points starting at night with a fresh start?????I know this works for me and the other 17 of us that have tried this for the last month. We have ALL lost over 2 lbs per week since startng this. I feel it is a lot less stressful when you do it this way. As the saying goesifferrent strokes for different folks!!!!Best of luck whichever way you do it.

But what I don't understand is, you're still counting the points. What's the difference between counting the points from breakfast/lunch/dinner from the a.m. or the p.m.? Is this a mind game I'm missing? I mean, if you're counting, (and I understand you've all lost weight) then why can't you just allocate those dinner points knowing at breakfast what you're anticipating for dinner? WHAT am I missing?

Yes, Leader, it's a mind game. I find most of weight loss is.
Instead of saying "Oh no, I only have a few points left tonight; how am I going to manage dinner? What if I go over??", this method relaxes you by letting you say "I've had 0 points so far today. If I eat a large dinner, or if I snack this evening, I can make up for it at breakfast and lunch tomorrow by eating more lightly and still remain within my points."

Also, many of us don't plan each entire day's menu ahead of time. It sounds like you do that, and that's great if it works for you. In my case, though, we do a lot of spur-of-the-moment going out with friends. Starting my day by counting dinner sounds like a pretty good idea, and I'm thinking of trying it. I'm not sure it would work consistently for me, since I tend to eat my largest meal at mid-day. But I really like the idea.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean when you say "this is a lifetime way of eating." That is, of course it's a lifetime way of eating, but how is this way of counting points incompatible with that philosophy?

I've been at this now for more than 3 years. (I've been losing slowly, in part deliberately.) I find myself trying all kinds of new ways of working the program in order to remain interested and motivated. I applaud anyone who gets creative in order to make this program work for them and keeps chugging toward a healthier lifestyle.

Wink

Thanks for the tip! I've just come up against a wall with my WW plan......could be what's going on in the world! Sat down in front of the TV tonight with a bag of peanut butter cups. Just chomped away and watched the horrors on TV. After I was full (!) I counted up the pathetic, empty wrappers. I discovered I'd consumed over 800 calories!!!! I'm disgusted with myself!

I love the "reverse" points counting. It's just a great idea! I'm going to start tomorrow.........(when my peanut butter cups have disgested and left!!!!)

God Bless and take care!

Question

Hi,
I'm new to this website and I'm intrigued by this idea. How do I post to my journal on WW starting w/dinner instead of breakfast?
Won't my journal be out of whack?

Hi Judy, all you do is "pretend" breakfast is dinner when you post your points. Just cross off "Breakfast" and enter "Dinner" and the same for dinner. You're still working the points system, but making it a little easier by not being stressed out over how many points you may have left at the end of the day. It's just a mind game, but seems workable for those of us who get too caught up "in our heads" over points.

Good Luck!

Leader

As I mentioned earlier, this way is helpful for my husband because he is on his own for breakfast and lunch. I make our dinners and try to keep it within a reasonable range but sometimes something special comes up. This way he knows how many points he has to work with for the next two meals.

Hi Miller, Good for you!!!!!! Isn't this great. I have lost 14 .5 since doing this and it is so easy..... We can do this. As I stated earlier, there are 16 of us that started all at the same time and have not gained and still have an average of 2+ lbs lost per week. I just hope it keeps up. Best of luck to you and your journey. Patti

I am so glad to read this post. My head is always playing games with me and it usually wins. Such as: I will be going to town today and we need to go out to lunch, so I won't count points,,,,,I will think about points tomorrow,,,Just like Scarlett O'Hara.

Windwood, could you tell me how long you excercise or maybe I should say how often. Except for the treadmill, I hate to excercise. And how much weight have you lost since beginning this backward point system. How much were you losing before you started this system.

Please reply. I will go back and reread the posts to see if you had already answered the questions I have asked. (See I am already doing some things backwardes) Thank you for your time. Threads (as in sewing threads)
