Hey sweetlilac, I think we were posting at the same time. Well, I'll be 37 this summer, so you're not that much older
I have a 6 year old son and 4 year old twin girls so I know how busy you must be!
Thank you for welcoming me.. Promise to try and de-lurk more.. Lol..
I found your post interesting, since I, on the other hand, have no problem sticking to the points, but I tend to loose steam and that's when I have problems. Im a case of the old all or nothing mentality, so I go from eating super healthy to all the way junk and sugar everyday. I think others can relate to this..
So, I've compromised to not loosing as much as I know I could if i went radical, but rather concentrating in trying to eat what I know I will enjoy so I can enjoy my dietary lifestyle..
LOL I think u are right. U are close to my age, i just had a b-day on the 10th. yrs old twins u do have your hands full. I couldnt imange having twins.
Jarden Good LUCk u wil do fine. post back and let us know. sending good vibes your way!
Hey y'all...entry #2 for the day!!! It's so nice out today can't wait until after work so I can go rollerblading for 45 minutes or so!!!
As far as my inside tips on breads and salads: The bread that I get is either D'Italiano light which is 2 pcs for 1 pt, or Village Hearth 1 pt two pcs. Village Hearth also has 1 pt wheat and white buns which are good sized and awesome!!! Then they also have english muffins that are only 1 pt a pc... I can always find them at the local Hyvee or Walmart super store!! As for my salad I take shredded lettuce or spinach or both, cut up some tomato in it, some cucumber, some green pepper and sometimes some onion and sprinkle greek seasoning on it and toss......all are zero pt foods....so I call it my free salad....granted technically if you add up all the calories in it, it's probably more like 1-2 pts....but you can have 5 zero pt foods before you have to count a pt....so I just call it free. Then of course depending on how many pts you want to use...you can add turkey, a egg, some cheese ect....and figure that on top of everything else. It's very filling and I pare it with a turkey sand on my 1 pt bread or bun and it makes a great lunch!! I'm waaaaay more about quantity than quality...hehe. Another fav. snack of mine is 1cup mixed fruit and a ff yogurt (3 pt), it's very filling and satisfying. Or sometime if I have a sweet craving after lunch (afternoons are my toughest time), I'll toast up a 1pt english muffin and have sugar free jam on it(0). When I'm really craving something....I always ask myself, "Am I hungry enough to eat a can of green beans?" and if I am..... I do and the craving usually goes away. ( I buy green beans by the flat!!) or I keep Celery all cut up and handy and mindlessly munch on that....sometimes it's just the fact I need to knaw on something!! There are lots of zero pt popcycles, and if you can't find any....make your own from Crystal light....another thing I buy in bulk. No soda for this gal, so it's crystal light, water, tea or coffee....all decaf and sugar free so they all count as water intake!!!
Another awesome find that I love in the morning is Obrien potatoes with peppers and onions in them....I found a brand that you can have 1 1/2 cups for 1 pt and then you cook it in Pam(0) and have it with 3 egg whites(1) and 2 pcs of toast(1) and you have a 3 pt breakfast that you can hardly finish!!!
Well I suppose I should get back to work, will check back later!
Hi ladies,
thanks so much for the welcome and the encouragement.
Chickie, I totally agree with you on the quantity part. I can really season up some veggies so sometimes I'll have this huge plate of food that is really good and its like no point. I ussually give it a point or two just because I know it has calories just good ones. Some times, to stretch a lean cuisine or a soup, I chop up a bunch of cabbage really fine so it almost looks like noodles, then steam it with some adobo or other seasoning and add it into the meal. It makes what would not ussually fill me up into something that is really filling and taste good. But I like cabbage.
I've had a really busy day but I have done really well with my points hopefully I can hold on to this through dinner.
Good luck every one I'll check in tomorrow.
boy, this thread has grown in the last few days Welcome to everyone!
I am doing WW and I am 10 lbs away from goal. I have done everything I can to bust this plateau I am on I eat really well so I can't do much more on that but I am committing myself to exercising more on a daily basis to see if that will do it.
Hi Everyone,
I'm on my second week of WW and I've lost 4.6 pounds so far. I really like being able to eat whatever I want as long as I stay within my points.
I did LAWL for awhile but even though you were able to have all the food groups, I still couldn't stick with it.
But anyway, we will be going to Ruby Tuesdays for dinner one day this week. Does anyone have any points figured out for anything on their menu. I really wish they had a WW menu like Applebee's.
I have been eating a WW (smart ones) meal for dinner every night. I know it has alot of sodium but I do add alot of veggies with it. I think I need to look up the points for 4oz. of chicken just to switch things up a bit.
Well Chicks, any help would be appreciated... Thanks...
Glad to see that u join us Karen. Great that u found the site. I hate to try to figure out want to eat when we eat out. I always want to binge. I WILL NOT do it this time.
Mauvaisrouz Yes we have grown. I hope that everyone stays and we get healthy and skinner together and MAKE SOME REAL GOOD FRIENDS. BTW if u dont mind me asking are u Pagen? I thought maybe from your pic and the saying under it u may be.
The girl that sits besides me at work it too. She one of my best buds at work.
WW Chickie, How can you stand to watch "The Bachelor"? I'd almost rather watch wrestling. (Will not that bad maybe.) It really does help to watch tv on the treadmil. I find that talking on the phone makes the time go even faster. Please don't use the s-word around this fat chick. I refuse until I lose at least 50 pounds!
Jennie, I agree about the problems eating out. I was shocked that the best ww choice on the "Guilt Free" menu at Chilies had 400 something calories, over 10 fat grams and very little fiber. My ww leader said she just chooses a grilled chicken salad with salsa for dressing if she can't find anything else.
Sweetlilac, Sorry the honor of the oldest probably goes to me. By the way, I'm at cat lover also. I have one sweet Calico and an adorable part Siamese & part grey Tabby that weighed one pound when she appeared on my driveway one day. They both are so fat now that the vet keeps telling me to put them on a diet. I've tried, but just can't. Shouldn't that be one advantage to being an animal?
Jarden, Don't be shy about posting. To quote Nike - Just Do It!
Olive, I'm so envious that you only have 12 pounds to go. I've got about 52. Let us know when you hit goal & we'll send congrats cards!
Macy b, Seems like our recurrant (sp?) theme is starting over. Maybe we will be the "Success the Second (3rd, 4th...) Time Around Club.
Skermie, Don't ever be afraid to go to meetings. Even if you don't lose a pound, you may lose inches, or gain a friend.
Have a great day yall!
I missed some posts somehow. Whoever said they liked O'brian hash browns, have you tried the potatoe soup made with O'brian Hash Browns, vegetable broth, and two packages of fat free Pioneer country gravy mix? It can't be that good for you, but when I really want potato soup it's good and 3 points a cup. Very filling!
Well good Thursday morning to all!!!
I was up .5 lbs today, but deservingly so. While working on putting up our deck we ordered pizza hut delivery and I can't ever say no to those breads sticks...hehe. But I counted and journaled honestly and used all yesterdays activity pts and some flex points to boot, but no worries...still down for the week and official weigh in isn't until Monday morning anyway!
Thanks for the potato soup recipe....once we get into summer I don't like a lot of soup, but will have to keep that in mind for cold weather camping days.
I'm glad we've had a few more people join the group!! Welcome, welcome, welcome!!!!!
I'm feeling my lowcarb friends drifting from me....like we're no longer in the same club. When in reality we're just both trying to lose weight. Anyhoo, maybe it's just me, but she seems like she's been really distant since I revealed switching back to WW a few weeks ago. And tonight we're going out to eat together, that should be interesting. There's alot of stuff I feel guilty eating in front of her because I know she can't have it on her program and it would be stuff she'd love and want....don't know quite what to do about that.
Well I suppose, those dishes and laundry won't do themselves!!!
See ya later!!
Hi All! I've just read all your posts and I'm so excited. I too am a multi-timer with WW and a recovering Atkins dieter. This time around is really going well. I'm on my 3rd week and have lost 8 lbs so far. I'm doing WW on my own using a pda program called WWcalc. I have attended many meetings in the past and really feel like I have the "head-knowledge" I need to be successful. Unfortunately, in the past, I have played little games with my points and was never very successful. I did really well on Atkins and learned that I wasn't eating nearly enough protein, but had too many cravings. So this time, I'm eating a little differently. I used to waste my points on empty carbs and was hungry all the time. Now I plan my meals around protein and eat lots of fruits and veggies and so far, have not run out of points yet. And no hunger, yeast infections, or hypoglycemia woohoo! As for personal info...37, female, 3 kids ages 10-boy 5-girl 3-girl. Husband still annoying eating low carb!
I want in too! My story is almost the same as WW chick excpet that I got sick of Atkins and gained everything back and then some. Meetings and my life thru softball and baseball season just don't jive. I order that new plan today. Hope to get it soon and get down to it!
