Joanne - well I hope the scale was as nice to you as it was to me. I have no idea how (except maybe all the work I did 2 weeks ago) but I lost 2 lbs. It is a REAL gift. I am racing off to church so I'll check back later tonight.

Kim, well, good think you decided to go to that WI, eh? I'm glad you were able to post a loss, that's great.

Now for the rest of us, it's Monday and time to start anew. I'm having to do that with my garden today since we got such HEAVY snow last night! It crushed a few of our roses, columbines, and peonies !! But, things will renew and get better, and we shall recommit ourselves to the program!!!

Tonight I'll be heading to the Avalanche game and I'm sneaking my dinner in. I don't like it when owners won't let you bring your own food, but too bad. I don't want to waste points on all that greasy crap they sell, nor spend the obscene amount of money they charge!!

WWQueen: I saw part of one of the Avs games on TV. Was that you I saw in the audience holding up a "GO WINGS" sign????

Hidee Ho! I went to my WW meeting. Down 0.6! That makes 10.4 in 9 weeks! I was a bit disappointed. We had a subleader and she didn't hand out the little incentives (stars, magnets, etc.). I thought you got a "10 #" magnet when you reached your first 10 pounds loss? Am I wrong? Oh, well. I'll speak to our regular leader on Saturday.

Gotta go. Have to work, work, work!

Hi Joanne - CONGRATS! I too am losing slowly and got my 10 lbs at week 8. We get a pink ribbon here in NJ - actually I have yet to see a magnet at any of our meetings. Our leader is so funny! His name is Joe and at 15lbs you get a colored pencil inscribed with "Joe says I can do it!". He is very witty and it's almost like a comedy show.

Funny story about our last meeting. My daughter 4.5yrs went with me. I told her it was like church so behave. She was fine throughout until the very end. In her loud whispering voice - which can be heard by the nearest 5 people She asked me when "Whale Watchers" was going to be over. I almost died!!!! Then I realized her preschool breaks up their classes into fish names. (Guppies, Jelly Fish etc.) Her class is called "Whale Watchers". But obviously I couldn't explain it to everyone there.

Annie, right back at you. From what I understand, these "Wings" used to be a good team. There haven't been many sitings lately! We were at the game and had a BLAST!!

Joanne, THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE, nothing to worry about, eh? Rewards vary but it comes to a couple of options. At my center you get a 5-lb bookmark and then 5-lb gold sticky stars thereafter. The magnets are at 25, 50, 75 and 100 lbs. At my mom's place, they give out 10-lb ribbons and 10-lb gold stars after that. I think you get a certificate at 50 and 100 lbs lost as well. My leader forgot to hand out awards today, so I just stayed after and asked for mine. I'm not embarrassed to do so - it really helps me having that bookmark and those stars on my fridge. If I feel I can't do it, or want to go off program, I can look at those stars to remember how far I've come and how I don't want to go backwards.

Kim, oh man, that is so funny. Don't tell me that no one around who heard didn't laugh!!! You've got to be able to see humour in almost all situations, I think.

Well, another 3.8 lbs gone for a total of 35.6 lbs.!! Got my 35-lb start after I asked Now I'm heading out for a much needed walk!!

WWQueen: What no jokes??? No "The Red Wings got their wings clipped"? I think "sitting" is all that's been happening.

jdoneil1: Going slow DOWN is better than ANY speed UP. Good job whatever the loss. Keep smilin'.

Kim in NJ: I love the pencil idea. I think your leader sounds great. The Whale Watchers story was soooo cute. Can I tell a little church/kid story? My nephew is 7 and a product of a Catholic mom and a non-denominational dad. SIL takes him to church every Sunday and they had a first communion to go to, so the whole family went. While sitting there being extremely bored (like any 7 yo will be), my nephew looked up at his dad and said, "Dad, this is what it's like to be Catholic. DON'T DO IT!" I'm not sure how many people thought it was funny, but his dad did. He only wants to keep his dad safe from boredom, I guess.

All of you make me want to go back to WW meetings. My favorite leader is about 30 miles away. There are closer ones, but I don't care as much for the leaders.

Default I'm glad I checked in...

You all crack me up! The "Whale Watchers' story is precious! Write that one down!

This week has not been going much better. I DID make all the same promises to myself, and yet I still seem to have all the old difficulties. I see the successes that you guys are having, and it makes me believe that I can do this, I just need to apply myself. So, keep sending out those good vibes!

Hi all...
Cynthia - way to go, another 3.8!! Do you stay within your points each day? I mean you do way more exercise than me and yet my appetite is just getting bigger for some reason. We're back to the late night wanting to binge - but I think it's because I am walking at 7:30PM. Around 10PM I am dying for salts or sweet.

Annie - LOVE THAT STORY!!!! I actually could see my own nephew saying the same.

Kathi - I'm with you. Some weeks I just can't seem to get with it - I don't know why!!! But others I am right on. It's so very strange because I want this so bad. My main goal is to do this for a healthy pregnancy - hopefully in the fall. I mean what reason could be better? But I'm not like Cynthia... if I looked at my refrig of all the stars and magnets, I'd pat myself on the back and say "you deserve that treat". I sabatoge my own efforts all the time. The only help for me lately is walking. I feel so healthy when I walk. Hopefully I'll learn to control that nasty appetite - or cravings.

Gotta run all - need to be up by 5:30 tomorrow. Going to a seminar on Herbal remedies. Interesting!

Default Heading to Amsterdam

Hey gang, they just set the Stanley Cup schedule and game 2 (the game we have tickets for) is not till Tuesday so we're taking the trip after all. I just wanted to say bye for a while since I have TONS of stuff to do now to get ready and won't have computer time till we get back on Tuesday. Everyone have a good holiday weekend.

Annie, no sense in kicking a dead bird when it's down. I think the Wings will be hurting for a while since they spent so much effort on acquiring old players and not much on getting rookies. And I'll probably be seeing the same thing next year if the Avs end up being cheap and decide not to sign some key players. The life of a hockey fan - no one asks us what we want!!

Kim: You and I sound so much alike! I want this so badly, I dream about it, fanatsize about it, and yet I have such a hard time DOING it! But, I think it has a lot to do with my personality. Remember in week two they give you that "test" to see what kind of a dieting personality you have? Well, I am the kind that doesn't like to be told what to do, I have trouble journaling, and my weight loss tends to be slow. I am NOT a planner, and I let myself become derailed by circumstances (stress, party, unexpected food challenges, etc.). Like you, if I looked at a fridge full of accomplishments I would probably go out and buy myself DQ! That is one of my problems with weighing myself so much (I know I shouldn't!), but if I weigh on Tuesday and have had a good loss, I usually sabotage myself by giving myself a "treat". I also tend to give myself a break after weigh-in (Fri. am) and I will use Friday as a "free" day. The problem is that it sometimes turns into a "Free" weekend, and I hit Monday with a need to lose everything I gained over the weekend. I hate to admit all of this, because I feel that those of you that are really committed (like Cynthia) probably don't understand this behavior. I feel like I am weak, and that if I wanted this bad enough I could do it. I often wonder what is wrong with me. I know that I have to get through this slump, or whatever I am going through, otherwise I will just quit again. I am going to take a "no weigh" at my meeting on Friday, because I KNOW it will be another gain, and I just can't face that. I haven't been walking because it has been raining every day, but that is just an excuse, I coule find a way if I really wanted to. So, DON'T GIVE UP ON ME GUYS! I need all of so much!

Kathi and Kim: I do the same thing. Sabotage when I'm do well. I don't know why either.

Soooo . . . you're not alone and we will never give up on you.

Hi all,

Well, there was no weigh-in this week (probably a blessing for me)!! This weekend we are finally going to bulldoze and make a lawn!!! I am so excited. We have had nothing but dirt since we built in 1999, so grass will be so nice. Of course, it is about a 2 acre lawn, so I'm sure I'll hear about the mowing dilemma before long!!

It's nice to know that we are all in the same boat here. We just need to take one day at a time, and continue on. Remember those chutes and ladders!!!! Not sure that discussion was on this thread, but some of you may know the story anyway.

Hope everyone has a super weekend.

Good afternoon!

Well, after over a week of **** at work, I had to face the scale. A 3.6 gain!!! My own fault. I knew I wasn't doing what I needed to do. I had all the wrong foods in huge portions and didn't get a lick of exercise in (my back is all out of whack thanks to sitting at a terminal for 10+ hours a day w/o a break). And where am I now? Back at work! I'm waiting on a report to run so I can put in another 3-4 hours in front of the GD terminal. Sorry. Guess I'm getting a bit testy.

Oh, well. Back on track. I grabbed 3 journals (one for home, one for my purse and one for work) so I don't have an excuse not to keep track of my food/exercise this week. The gain will go away. One week is not going to spoil a 9 week success!

Hafta go. That report should be done by now.
