Default ww and teenagers

My 15 year old and I want to join ww together by going to meetings and such. Is there an age requirement? Like does she have to be 18?

Thanks,

Cathy

My 15 year old and I are both in. You will be required to have a doc's note for her stating it is ok. I believe when they are 17 or older they can just join.

Not sure about this....the rules are different in Canada and the US. There is a girl in my group that has been attending since she was 16 (without her parent). I would contact WW to find out for sure. If you are going together it will more than likely not be a problem.

Thank you ladies. I should have done that in the first place but the question was in my mind late at night and I had to ask it before I forgot it. I do my best thinking late at night when everyone else is asleep. lol anyway, I will give my local ww branch a call to make sure. I have to go to our doctor tomorrow, so if I need a note I'll be able to ask for it then. Have a good day and a wonderful, relaxing evening.

So far my teenage daughter isn't trying very hard and I am trying not to let this affect me. She has been on the plan for 7 weeks and has lost ONE pound. I was hoping that being with other people with the same problem would motivate her. Right now I am BITING MY TONGUE and hoping for the best...but it is hard not to get mad at her. She is currently giving all sorts of excuses and I am not sure she is at that point in her mental state where she is ready to make up her mind about losing weight.

I did find out via the ww website (says it there plain as the eyes on my face ) right there at the top when you look up locations that you need to have a note for anyone under 18 to join. Duhhhhhh. Anyway, because of that we have to go to her doctors so I've made an appt. but she's booked solid for the next week and we can't get in to see her until next Monday. So, we are going to wait until then. Actually if it cost more than the weekly fee to join we may have to wait until mid September. I am a school bus driver so during the summer I don't work much. I collect unemployment but it's only half the monthly income. At least I'm still getting something but it really puts a crimp in our style. Soooooo, once school starts, I'll have a full paycheck just before the 15th of Sept. As for my daughter....well, she can be a tough sell. She's the one who suggested ww. Us going together, but when it comes to exercise she is hard to convince that it's so important. She's become so sedentary. I've tried, over the years, to convince her how important it is without being too upset towards her. She's trying but it's not high on her priority list. I'm just hoping that after repeating it over and over that she'll just do the exercise to get me off her back. Seriously though, I don't want her to think she's obese. She's not. She is close to 180 though and only 5'5". She's on her way if she doesn't start thinking about what she puts in her stomach and not exercising. Hopefully, though, once we do start with ww she'll listen to the people at the meetings who talk about exercise and how important it is and realize that I haven't been blowing hot air all this time!! I hope, Angie that your 15 yr old will start to listen or at least have an 'ah hah' moment where she (?) (you didn't state if they are a boy or girl) realizes that watching what she eats and exercising is sooooo important. Once we start, I'm sure if I suggest it to my daughter, maybe the two of them can become ww buddies or something. It might help if she has someone her own age to talk to who is going through the same experience. Just let me know.

FatCat~

That is a wonderful plan! My daughter () is 5'10" and about 225 pounds. We can have them exchange email addresses if you like! That would be cool!
