Default Success with Points+

I'm gearing up to switch from South Beach Diet to WW. I lost 40lbs on WW 4 years ago with the old points system. Unfortunately 30 have found their way back I have heard a lot a lot of mixed reviews of the new P+ system and am debating going with that or doing the old points. What are your opinions? If you have done both have you been as successful with P+?

I've done both. I did Momentum a few years ago and did it for about a month on my own before switching to Point+ (and officially signing up for WW) at the end of January.

Personally, I LOVE PP. I feel it's more flexible and I'm left feeling more full and satisfied at the end of the day, whereas on Momentum I often felt hungry or I felt like I was on a diet. With PP it's more like it really is a lifestyle eating change. In the past six months on PP I've lost 33.6 lbs. I lost more weight in a short period of time on Momentum, but there's no way I would have been able to keep it off long term (and I couldn't even keep it off six months, as I gained it back and that's why I'm on WW again!)

But I do know there are people who have not been as successful and their body prefers Momentum and there are threads here dedicated to that plan. I think you just need to find what works best for you

I have done low-carb before and I find that it wasnt someting I could maintain long term..

I just started WW and so far I've lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks.. Its doesn't seem like alot, however I didn't feel like I was on a "diet' the past two weeks..

I ate great food..all the old food I'm used to..and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg..

I feel more accountable on WW.. I go to weigh in and attend meetings and find it motivates me to keep going.. Our leader is hilarious and very down to earth. I learn something new every week.

Definitely a way of life I can do long term.

Couldn't have said it better slimplicity. I would not consider WW as much as a diet(a way to lose weight) but more like a way of life, forever. Works for our family.

I have done both WW Points plans. I have had success with both - when I was actually following them.

I actually like the new Points Plus plan better. I think it is more focused on a healthy lifestyle of eating - a way to incorporate important changes for good. Most folks I know who struggle with Points Plus are those who like a lot of breads/carbs. All of the points values went up significantly for those types of foods. But I am ok with that. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE carbs! - but I think it is important to eat less refined, more whole foods for overall health in the long run. The new Plan focuses more on that, so it works for me.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

I would suggest to try the new Points Plus program and see how you like it for yourself. Its hard to know if youve not done it. I havent done the one before and i am almost 40 lbs down, so im getting there with this program.

I love Points+ I think it gives a great push to healthier eating habits than the old program did. You naturally eat less carbs (tho they are important) because of the way food points are weighted.

I've lost almost 23 lbs on Points+ in the last 2-3 months. (and yes I did Momentum before that... and the one previous to that too *laughs*)

I lost 100 pounds using TurnAround/Momentum. So believe me, I liked that plan. It was something I could've seen myself using for the rest of my life.

That being said, I'm now using PointsPlus, and I like the changes they made. Even before, I thought it was great that they were using some of the macronutrients to determine points so that people would end up eating healthier choices while still having the flexibility to budget in treats, etc.

Now they're using even MORE macronutrients to help determine Points+, and with the vegetables and fruits being promoted I know I'm eating more of them than I used to. My loss per week is likely a little slower, I will admit (and that is probably not even due to the plan itself, but my own weight loss history), but I have to say I mentally LOVE this way of keeping track of my food. I feel like I'm choosing healthier things overall, and I still get that flexibility.

Yes, it took some getting used to, but so do all plans. I came into with an open mind, and am thrilled to be following it. I look forward to losing 100 pounds with P+, and keeping it off.
