Hi! I am new!

  • Hi everyone! My name is Nichole, I am 23, living in Pennsylvania. I attended my first weight watchers meeting today and I absolutely loved it!! My leader is amazing and I am so proud to be a part of the group... I am looking forward to next Saturday!
Let me give you a little background! I married my wonderful & supportive husband Jason in August of 2007. At our wedding, I weighed around 220. After we married and I saw our wedding pictures, I was disgusted and I joined a gym. I got down to 205 and I was happy. We suddenly were forced to move and I had to cancel my gym membership. I said to myself that I would keep up with it and join a gym where I was relocated to. That totally did not happen and I soon gained it all back. Exactly one year ago, in May of 08, my husband and I joined a gym. Between May and November, I had gone from 225 to 190 and I was ecstatic!! Something again happened, and I gained back 15 of those pounds.
I joined weight watchers today and weighed in at 205.2! I was ashamed, but happy to be there. I really hope this is it for me! I am allowed 27 points per day. I hope you don't mind me sharing my first day with you... I am hoping for some pointers!

Dessert: WW ice cream sandwich (i am obsessed with ice cream and need it to stay on track!) -2-

    Total: 27 points

    6 bottles of water.
20 minutes on the ARCTrainer at the gym
10 minutes on the treadmill (10.5 incline)
Arm strength training (3 toning machines)

Am I on the right track? I feel it was healthy. I don't know if I have ever had 3 vegetables and 3 fruits in the same day before. Best part of it all... I am not hungry at all!!!!
I hope I am welcome in this group... I'd love to post daily and help each other out!
    Good luck!!!
  • Hi! I joined WW five weeks ago and I love it too. I've lost 7.4 so far (I couldn't go today to my meeting, like you I go on Saturdays, I'll go tomorrow). I agree, I don't feel hungry and I'm really enjoying this change in my lifestyle. Ok...Enough about me hehehe.

Welcome! This forum is amazing, I've read a lot of amazing stories and people are very welcoming. Also they know what they are talking about.
  • Welcome!
  • Thanks so much for the warm welcomes! How often do you all work out and what do you do?

To be honest, I haven't been doing much exercise and that is reflected in the scale, this week I was 1 pound up. However, the weeks that I was following the plan and doing exercise I was loosing (one week I lost 4.8!). I found out today about Zumba classes in my area on Tuesdays and Thursdays and people from my WW meeting group assist to those, I'm joining in. Also the leader is starting a walking group on Sundays afternoon, I'm also in. The rest of the week I'll do my home bike for now.

    What are your plans?
  • Hi and welcome to the WW forums!
Don't worry about trying again -- I think the average number of tries for a successful WW dieter is 5 (FIVE) starts. So you're well below the average! And you are doing great, so keep up the good work!!!
    As for your diet --
Here are some ideas JUST as my humble opinion:
You are eating a relatively high amount of processed foods. This is absolutely OK because you are within your points. But it may become an issue as your points decrease. When they decrease, you may find yourself having to find whole grain, low point foods that will fill you up. For example, you might have to trade in your WW Sweet and Salty bar (2 points) for 1 cup of grapes and 1/3 cup fat free cottage cheese.
I think it will come down to what is most fillin g for the points.
I started at 244lbs (29 points) and ate pretty much what I wanted (chocolate! chips! Kraft dinner!) all measured, of course and within my points). Now, I'm down to 181lbs (23 points) and I am having to make some tough choices in order to eat enough and not feel hungry. I've had to trade in my love of rice for a love of potatoes (4 points 1 cup rice vs 2 points 1 cup potatoes); pasta is pretty much a treat instead of a daily thing; Bread is not good points value for the portion...and so on...
Just something to think about down the road for you! Because this lifestyle is definitely a big change!
    Keep up the awesome work!
    Kira
