Question Any great tips to deal with carb cravings?

Hello you all,
I am new to this forum, I've been doing the South Beach Diet for the last week because I was getting frustrated with having to count points all the time and I think i have some kind of carb addiction problem. So I am going cold turkey for just two weeks and then back to points.
Just to share my experience with WW, the one time I was very successful was when they had the option of weigh in as often as you liked in the one month period. I lost 50 pounds but I weighed in one every two to three weeks. I really think that was the key to my success because every time I weighed in I saw a loss. At he end my average was that one pound per week.
Lately I've been so anxious and stressed that I can never go more than a few days without weighing in. Today is day 7 on SBD and I promised myself I was going to wait two weeks before I weighed again.
I am happy to say I haven't weighed myself since last Monday. I am starting to realize that getting to know myself is a huge tool for persisting enough to see results.
The carb cravings are still with me like old unwanted little bugs, so I was wondering what kind of tools you use to tackle them. (...a fly swatter???)

Good luck to you all!

I cannot speak from my own experience, but, I work with a woman who has lost a significant amount of weight. I asked her about sweet cravings, because I crave chocolate like a mad woman! She mentioned that she craves everything... each day it is something knew, and she did mention carbs being a huge craving. I asked her what she did, and she showed me unsweetened tea packets... She says whenever she is having a craving she drinks hot tea.... Not sure if that would be an option for you, but it is working for her. I hope that helps at least a little!

I think you might have more luck posting on the South Beach forum or the Atkins forum to tackle this because they are alot of experienced carb-restrictors over there.
I think it would help you to define what kind of carbs seem to trigger you -- white rice? brown rice? chocolate?---because you might be able to satisfy those cravings with whole grains, fruits and veggies.
