This again? Really?

  • Just FYI, I had a Wendie plan kind of week last week and lost over 2 pounds.
Think I'll try it again some this week and see if I can do it again.
  • Awesome, Ciarra! Congrats!

I've had a terrible week. Again, I've done everything right, and I GAINED .4. I also did another set of measurements after level 2 of the 30 Day Shred, and I've only lost 0.1 of an inch on my ENTIRE body.

    I'm so angry right now...
  • Well, true confessions. I totally blew it yesterday, I may as well call it a binge.
I was so sad at the end of the day and can't even explain it to myself.
I have to get back on track and I have to make this work for me.
I'm really just confused about how I could have done this to myself.
I think I might start a fresh journal today and almost pretend it didn't happen, but that is not very intelligent, is it?
  • Hi Linda,

It happens to all of us- I think everyone has eaten something and immediately regretted it. I think the best thing to do is forgive yourself, but remember the way you felt after eating whatever it was. Then, next time you're tempted, just try to bring that feeling back up and convince yourself that it's not worth feeling that bad again.

I say just write it and do your best from now on. One day won't ruin you

How is it going this week? I lost 1.6 today after gaining .4 last week, so I'm very happy with that. Only 0.2 lbs until I meet my 5%!
  • Well, this week's weigh in went OK, though I could have done better. In fact, yesterday wasn't all that good either.
I've got to start planning ahead, including snacks.
I seem to be craving chocolate and can't get it out of my head. I need to plan for chocolate to be part of my plan and then fill up on the healthy choices.
    When will I ever learn?
I am glad you lost 1.6, that is great! I lost .8, but I could have done better.
One of the biggest problems I seem to have is breaking a barrier. I have a decent loss, then a few gains and then I lose again. I have to examine those gains and why I keep gaining and losing the same 2 - 3 pounds and never breaking through.
  • Hello all, I just joined this forum yesterday and love it so far.

Several of you mentioned looking for snacking foods, etc. I don't know if you've heard of these mixes I recently found and love but they've helped me tremendously with snacking. Each mix makes approx 16 muffins, you can also turn them into cakes or breads or whatever rather than muffins.

They're from south haven farms, it's on the web. I heard about them on the Weight Watchers forums and bought a couple to try and have placed a second order already. I made blueberry muffins that are only 1 point each and they taste really good!

Derry, they have a chocolate mix. I have only tried it once so far but it was pretty good.

You can google to get the website if you wanted to try them. I like that I can make a batch on Sunday and have breakfast for 2 - 3 days that week that I just grab and go. They would last longer but my husband who has at least 10 more points than me eats them like crazy. I've started hiding some so that I have them for breakfast
  • Thanks, Melwolfe for your suggestion. I have bought the chocolate vita muffins and love them, they are one point each. I love them.
I have exercised three days in a row this week, I am proud that I made time yesterday at the END of the day for a change to get on the treadmill and even did my 25 sit ups during a commercial break on TV last night to assure I got them in.
I need to plan carefully today as I would like to end the day not using any flex points.
  • Great job, linda! I find it really difficult to do a workout at the end of the day, but you always feel better after you do it. Good on you

Hi Melwolfe, welcome to the forum!

I had a bit of a challenging evening yesterday. We had a cocktail party and there was lots of tempting food. I did my best to fill up on fruit, but I did indulge in some cheese and bread...and maybe some mini-eggs too. I had 14 points leftover, so I just tried to keep everything in moderation. I really wanted to have the things I ate, and I didn't binge, so I don't feel bad about it. I worked out yesterday and am about to work out again today...I've been really hungry this week and have used up a few flex points (which I don't usually do!) so I'm now trying to stay within my points until WI on wednesday. Fingers crossed that I lose 0.2 so that i can reach that 5%!
  • Prima, I read all you ate and was jealous. I only get 21 points a day and soon will drop to 20 a day. When I read what you ate and then read you had 14 points leftover, I was amazed. Lucky you.
As for me, yesterday was a challenge as each day seems to be. My daughter dragged us to a bakery of all places. I have to reason out what my priorities are today as the bread is here and it is so very good. She loves this place and while she is home on spring break from college, she had to go there. I had one very tiny piece from the end of the bread and was in "bread heaven" but resisted a second piece. The bread had cherries, chocolate chips and almonds in it, it was amazing.
Oh well. I can have some today but I have to plan it as part of my day and be very careful.
Tonight my husband wants to go out to eat and that could be quite dangerous. New England, particularly ME and NH have these places I could categorize as "seafood shacks". Some are just drive up places where you eat at picnic tables outside and some are bonafide restaurants that you go in and sit down, but most have you place and order and they call your number to pick up the food. They specialize in fried clams, lobster rolls and other fried delicacies. They are dangerous ground. My husband loves this stuff and he does not need to lose weight and he's been bugging me to go to his favorite place for the last couple of weeks since it re-opened for the season. Most of these places close up in the winter. So, I'm stuck.
The place he wants to go has broiled haddock on the menu, I think, as well as mashed potatoes and a vegetable, so I can be "saved" but eating there is always a huge challenge as I love the stuff just as much as he does, but I can't let myself lose control.
He deserves to go where he wants to go now and then, but I am so worried. I'm tempted to tell him to go with my son and stay home, but then I will feel punished. But, I don't want to blow it this week. It's always so hard.
  • You could try doing what my daughter does when we go out to eat. Ask for a to-go box at the beginning of the meal and put 1/2 to 3/4 of your food in the box from the get go before you even start eating. You can also eat a healty filling snack right before you go so you won't be so hungry when you get there. It does seem to help, plus you always have your flex points for those special occasions and such.

Oh yeah, Derry, our grocery finally has the vita muffins and I tried them yesterday (banana nut) it was pretty good, but for the same $$ and points I can make 14-16 muffins and they're just as good and the same points as long as I use all fat free dairy to make the muffins, still as a time saver I will keep some of these on hand as well.
  • Derry, would dh share? Not a lot, just a bite or 2? Maybe you could get a nice salad and just a few bites of the higher calorie stuff.

We do that a lot. That way a huge plate of food isn't staring back at me. I like a small bowl of soup too followe by a couple of bites of what he is eating.
  • melwolfe:
    Welcome to the forums!
I love muffins..... Do the ones you were talking about have sweetners in them? DH has allergies to most and truly most of them upset my tummy, but I'm always looking for something point friendly and tasty. Thanks in advance.
  • They don't come with sweeteners. You add your own. Here's their website www (dot)southavenfarm(dot)com

It gives you the nutritional info of the mix itself, so far they've all been 12 points for the mix, then you add varying amounts of milk depending on the mix, fat free yogurt (it says plain but I use vanilla) and spenda or sugar, I'm sure you could use honey, more fruit, etc. instead you'd just have to try until you find what works.

I actually just made banana muffins and am going to take a few to my meeting this morning. It made 16 regular muffins at 1.25 points each.

  • Hi Linda,

I'm sorry- I was unclear- I had 14 points left over going into the evening- that's why I ate all that junk! I definitely didn't have 14 left over after. Hope that makes you feel better! haha I get 25 per day, and in 1.2 lbs it's going to drop to 24. I'll have to re-evaluate at that point!
  • Prima, I do feel better after you explained those points to me. I'm having such a hard time staying in my current points range. I just don't know how I'm going to manage when I get to goal. I think I'll have 18 points a day. That doesn't seem enough to survive on without losing my mind climbing the walls looking for food all day.
Mel, I bookmarked that web site for the muffin mix stuff. I wonder if they are available at some local grocery stores that seem to have lots of "health" food items nowadays? I just hate to use a credit card and pay shipping on certain kinds of things, you know? Then, the bill shows up and I groan when I see what I spent. I agree, though, that the vitamuffins may not be a good deal as far as price goes and that your mix might be cheaper, but by the time I pay shipping, spend the time making them and use my electricity to bake them and whatever I might wrap them in to freeze them, I might be spending just as much?
I have not tried the banana nut ones, my favorites are the bran blueberry and chocolate ones. At one point each, they are a "deal" for me. I can have a filling three point breakfast with a vita muffin, one WW yogurt, and a piece of fruit. By the way, I wish WW yogurts were not quite as sweet as they are. I buy them because they are one point but I prefer a more "tart" yogurt. Do any of you know of a yogurt that is one point that is a better flavor? I buy the Fage Greek yogurt, plain and add fruit to it sometimes and that tastes better to me, but a serving of even their fat free yogurt is 2 points vs. 1.

Well, I was somewhat successful last night. We went to this place. Imagine the name.... it's called "Larry's Clam Bar". Not quite the romantic image, is it? But, they have good food. Firstly, they do not have salad on the menu, believe it or not. If there was a grilled chicken salad, life would be easy. But, you sure can get fried chicken there, yikes! They have three kinds of broiled fish, so I got broiled haddock that came with mashed potatoes (they had butter on top, oh well, next time I'll ask for none) and beets. I loved beets and that was a nice change for a place to have them. Often they have had green beans and you can tell they are canned.
I have a couple of my husband's onion rings, didn't have any of my son's french fries and watched them pig out on all their fatty foods. I guess I'll call the 5 or 6 onion rings I had three points?
    I survived.
Yet, the scale is up this morning by about a pound. I hope I can do something about that before weigh in tomorrow afternoon.
