  • Kelly, WTG on the loss! All those .4s add up!

Regina, awesome!!! I was so excited once I hit "ONEderland"! You will get there really soon!!!! Only 1 lb. to go, yeah!
  • Off track - help!
Help! We went out with friends on Friday night to eat. The buffet offered fried meats only! Nothing was really healthy. But we all had icecream just the same after eating way too much. Problem is I'm still not back on track! I AM getting back on track tomorrow, but in the mean time last night I fixed meatloaf, scallop corn, baked beans & lettuce salad for supper. And there was plenty left for supper tonight.
Seems I always get off track when I go out for supper then have a really hard time getting back on track. I end up undoing all the good I'd done & gain the weight back that I'd worked to hard to lose. How stupid!!! Anyone else have this problem??? Any of you been able to break the cycle??? How?
Hope the rest of you are doing great on your journey. Openheart
  • Openheart - I often have this problem, only mine is mostly when I am out of town. I have a 21 month old daughter, so we visit the grandparents a lot. I usually fall off the wagon on those weekends, I am not sure why I can't seem to gain self-control for those times.

BUT, the important thing is to get back on track. I find that I can usually blow the weekend, but if I get back on track on Monday, I can generally save myself during the week (i.e. lose what I gained). I don't recommend this, but just remember that if you get back on track, you will lose some of your gain. Plus, you probably have a lot of water retention, so get back on track, drink you water, and you will be back down in no time!!!
  • I've found that the biggest thing that helps me when I binge is to get right back on track as soon as possible. If I've blown lunch, then I've tried really hard not to blow dinner. I try to remember a quote that I read on here once, "No one trips going one stair, and thinks to themselves that all is lost for the day, and throws themselves down the rest of the stairs." That's not the exact quote, but you get the idea. (If anyone know the exact quote, do you mind sharing? I can't seem to find it. I wich I had written it down the first time I saw it.)

Things happen. Life happens. Buffets happen. You just can't let them get in the way of what you really want. You have to enjoy things sometimes. I try really hard to work them into my daily/weekly points, but if I can't and it's something special or important to me (like a family dinner, or holiday celebrations) then sometimes on my tracker I just write "lot's of crap" and zero out my extra points for the week. Then I try to be really good for the rest of the week. I've only done this 4-5 times since I started, not counting holidays. This might not be the ideal thing to do, but so far it's worked for me. The biggest thing for me has been to think to myself that I can't let it go on for more that one meal, one day at the most. To know that I need to get back on track as soon as possible.

Wow, wordy! Sorry, I'm in a rambling mood today. Had a crazy night at work. Hope everyone is doing well.
  • Great post Crazynette, I totally agree!

How is everyone doing? We have been a bit quite the last few days.

So, how about a Question of the day/week?

    Question of the Day/Week:

What is your biggest motivation to lose weight?
  • I thought this would be a good QOTD, as it would help remind us all why we are doing this!

Ok, so here is my answer to the QOTD:

I want to lose weight to be healthy and to set a good example for my daughter. I have struggled with my weight all my life because I learned really poor eating habits as a kid. I don't want my daughter to have these same issues, so I want her to learn to eat healthy foods now (she is 21 months old). And I can't expect her to eat healthy foods if I am eating crap, so I have to lead by example. Plus, my mom always wanted my siblings and I to go outside and play, but she never went with us. I want my daughter to get a lot of exercise, but we should do a lot of it as a family. I want her to learn to not only eat healthy but to lead an active life. Plus, I want to be healthy so I can keep up with my grandkids!!
  • well, i can't believe how long it has been since i checked in with the challenge. life got in the way big time, and i fell off the wagon big time, but overall i am still down a pound from last time. Yay!

I am hoping for another loss this week, as I switched to Core, and from what I hear you get a boost in wieght loss when you switch it up. Wish me luck! Wow, I just accidentally typed "wish me lunch!" freudian slip, hmmm?
  • [QUOTE=futurepixie;1668286] "wish me lunch!" [QUOTE]

OK, that one really IS a Freudian slip!
  • My biggest motivation to lose weight..
Good question! Mine is definetely my health. My right lower leg and foot aren't functioning, and I need surgery on my ankle. The doctor has even suggested that my lower leg may have to be amputated . I have a LOT to lose..but I know that any amount of weight I can lose will make getting around/recovering from surgery that much easier.

I 'stayed the same' this week. I'm terrible at keeping track of my points, so I bought myself a points journal. I think that writing things down and being able to look back from week to week will help me to stay on track.

Hope everyone is having a great week!
  • Joanne, you can do it!!! Every pound will make things easier on you! We are here to support you!!
  • My motivation for losing weight is my nephews. I don't want to be the "fat" aunt anymore. I went skating with my 6 y.o. nephew last summer and could barely keep up with him. I want to be the "fun" aunt that can play with them and keep up with them no matter what they want to do. I'm also doing it for health reasons, I want to live a long life so I can see them grow up.

My nephew last weekend gave me an unintentional NSV. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, and out of the blue he turns to me and says "You're too skinny." I'm far from skinny so I was like "what?" He says, "You're not as soft as you used to be." Totally made my day! I've been smiling about it all week!!

Charity I'm sure you're daughter is already learning good habits from you. You're awesome! You're daughter is adorable! What a cutie!

Joanne, I agree with Charity every pound will help! You can do it! You've lost quite a bit already. Keep it up!

Futurepixie, good to see you back. I'm glad you didn't fall totally off the wagon.

Hope everyone is having a great day!
