Default LWL # 277 Oct 16 - 22

Helloooooooo........anybody out there?

Slow start this morning.

Cardio done (40 minutes elliptical) legs on tap. My first client canceled, so I'll probably go do hamstrings first, then quads later. Mix things up a bit! Legs haven't been getting sore lately, so it's time for a change! Or maybe they are just perpetually sore, because I've been doing all the bodyweight work along with all my clients everyday plus my own leg day.

Leg Cranks
Here's the latest body weight leg fun: do 2 sets, rest BETWEEN supersets.
24 body weight squats (no rest)
24 alternating leg lunges
24 jump squats

edited for Meg or anyone who can still stand up at this point: 24 lunge jumps or "mountain climbers" if you have creaky knees.

REST, but walk around. Don't lie down on the floor.

How is everyone doing?

Mel

Afternoon! Yes, I'm here. I've been up for hours, gone to the gymn, done a bit of work. Eating is clean, exercise is good.

Over the weekend I tried on some clothes which used to be too small. Some still are but most fit, after a fashion. And the ones which are too big I've given away. So things are good in that department too.

Last week I bought a cheap and cheerful heart-rate monitor (£10, let's say US$ 5). I am proud to announce that my resting heart rate is ... 55. I'm an athlete! When I take up running again I expect it will drop a bit.

Have a good week, everyone.

I'm still in my jammies BUT ... I've got a 22 lb barbell!!! Things are looking up. The lad is looking for more things in the zoo we call a basement. Maybe my dumbells will appear too!

I had an idea ... Mel maybe you could post some of those exercises (like the leg cranks) somewhere where folks would read them ... folks without equipment I mean. Sooo many people thing you need some elaborate set-up to do resistance exercises.

Wow, Mel, thanks for that wakeup challenge. I was okay on the squats and then you lost me!! lol A goal for another day down the road!

I'm here as well. Got in a total body w/o yesterday which was just awesome. Today will be my cardio focus day. I'm doing the Biggest Loser challenge over on the exercise thread as well, so that's giving me some additional accountability!

I have to whine a bit. I'm so tired lately. I don't know why. I had an appt on Sunday to do trial hair for my wedding day. The appt was at 10am. I didn't wake up until they called me at 10:15!! Granted I went to bed at midnight the night before but I usually get up at 8 on the weekends. DF was even up and I was still sleeping. That never happens. Last night, I went to bed at 10:30 and I had to drag myself out of bed at 8 am this morning. When I went to the doc the week before last, he did a whole bunch of blood tests to see if he could find out why I am so tired lately. He told me to come back after my first physical therapy session so I will probably see him next week. I wanted to wake up early this morning and workout but that didn't happen.

Oh well. Anyway, otherwise I'm doing ok I guess. I went hiking yesterday and had a lot of fun. A hike that used to be challenging was super easy. I need to find harder hikes!

hrbabe - that is interesting about Dr. Peeke. I wonder how much it costs to see her? I probably couldn't afford it. Although I did look at her spa trip and that sounds fun. Maybe next year I can sneak off and do that

Happy Monday ladies! Man, I love when I clean my engagement ring - I sit here being distracted by the sparkliness! LOL!

I had a weekend filled with BFFM reading, which means I did little else. Doesn't make for a fun week - now I have to do all my yard work and errands after work during the week! Guess I didn't think that through too well...

But, it's an investment in myself, and that's a good thing. Did my UBWO this morning -it was less than inspired but I did it. I was supposed to change up my exercises, as I am starting week 5 today, but as I wasn't prepared, I didn't. Mel, thanks for the Leg Cranks idea - I may incorporate that into my LBWO - sounds incredibly challenging!

Nelie - sorry to hear you are so tired. I assume you're taking a multi-vitamin and eating plenty of veggies? Hopefully your doctor will be able to find something to help you with it. Perhaps some of it is the shortening days? I find that in the mornings I need to have a small lamp (25w bulb) on a timer to help wake me up - the alarm alone just doesn't do it. But, if the light is on, it's harder for me to roll over and ignore it. When the heck is daylight savings time starting, btw? Weren't then moving it up to earlier in October?

Oh, well, enough of my rambling - time for lunch!

Hi LWL,

First day of autumn break- my livingroom is in a chaos, as big as 2 fourteen yr old boys can make it. I guess they are having fun. meanwhile, i went to work, dropped the boys off in town, went back to work & discussed mortgages with my financial advisor..I'm tired.
so..I sneak off from powerclass this evening. but I'm still sore from the excercise ball DVD that I did yesterday and the day before, so I'm still good in my book.

Nelie, are you worriing a lot about your wedding maybe? I only noticed how tired I got from worriing when I learned to worry less. What helped for me was a meditation known as the body scan. very relaxing, and you have to focus on your body for the duration, which means everytime you think of something aelse, you have to drag your mind from it.

FRUS - how was the amsterdam marathon??? Inquiring minds want to know!!

SusanB - Yay for the 22pd barbell!

Meg, mel - thanks for the leg suggestions, I'll keep that as a challenge!

have a great day all,
Rabbit

I had my first real cardio workout in about two months and I am bushed.
I'm looking at my couch right now and wishing I was already on it. How bad is that. Anyway, did upper body today too.

I think my leg is finally on the mend but I'm not going to push it with weight training for another three weeks. I just get all excited when I have two really painless days in a row... I just have to remind myself to take it slow.

SusanB: Glad to see that you found all of your equipment from the zoo, I mean basement. I have a zoo down there too. Complete with a cat who only dares to venture out in the evening when the two monkeys (sons) go to bed.

2Frus: I've been thinking about you and the marathon all weekend. DETAILS PLEASE.

Okay, back to my couch now. Man, I am really going to sleep well tonight.

I've just skim-read so far but I'm BAAAAAAAAAACK!

One half-marathon completed in 2:38ish and I ran the whole way!

I've got photos of me in my shirt and medal, I will post later. I spent yesterday shopping in Utrecht. It took a while to shuffle round the shops but I made it!

Here's the finish-line pic!

I didn't realised I'd finished and just kept running! I almost rammed the lady giving me the medal!

Nelie - hope you're perky soon

Susan, you're a real LWL now!

I will be back at the weights tomorrow, I am back at kickboxing tonight (if I can shuffle, I go!) and food is protein heavy, which is making me feel SO much better than those icky CARBS!

Hi all,

I'm doing a lot better. This morning I woke up early (6:30) and wasn't exhausted. I did a 55 minute Firm workout. I am thinking that i'll do an upper body weight workout later today. My knee is really bothering me today and the last couple days. I can't wait until I start my physical therapy next week.

Frus - good job and great picture!
