Cindy- probably inaccurate, especially since you haven't been lifting for a while and I don't think you are on drugs. A 3 point measurement isn't very accurate since it ignores some of the places that most women store fat. If the same person does it all the time, it should be useful for tracking a trend, tho.
How tall are you? Very few women, including "enhanced" competitive bodybuilders, carry more than 130-140 pounds of LBM and that's at the high end.
Rockergirl- That looks like an ambitious schedule!
Robin and Pat- if I gain an ounce, it goes to my abdomen. Always has I actually envied women with big thighs...I figured that could always be hidden by a skirt or wide legged pants, but all my extra weight is front and center Cardio, cardio and weights! (not to mention squeaky clean food!)
Nelie- Glad you're back in the groove. Hang in there. Don't let wedding stress get to you. The actual wedding is only one day out of your life!
Mel - I'm 5'5", but very stocky - I have my Eastern European heritage to thank for that. I do believe, based on where I was 2 years ago, that my LBM is probably in the 130-135# range - even as a teen people could never imagined I weighed as much as I did.
I do carry a lot of fat on my back and my backside - I'm thinking the 3 point measurement missed all of that!
Cindy
I'm new here and mostly just lurk but I had to tell somebody that since I have started lifting/eating clean in September that I have lost a total of 8 inches! I was feeling down because the scale has not moved much but I knew my clothes were fitting better! I measured myself this morning and compared it to my original measurements taken 3 weeks ago. I am so happy!!
GOLDENHORSE
Congratulations on your 8 inches of loss in three weeks! The scale is full of all kinds of "tricks" but the tape measure and the fit of our clothes never lie. I do weigh myself every morning. Usually I will sit at the same weight for a month and then all of sudden I will be down three to four pounds overnight
One morning I stepped on the scale and found that I weighed 0lbs. Yep, nothing. I hopped back on three times and it kept registering zero. Then I looked in the mirror to see if I was still existing. Hmmm, still had a reflection in the mirror so I must still be here. I went back to bed and told my husband that I think my "diet" is now officially over. I now weigh nothing...
Anyway, congratulations once again on being a lady who lifts! You should be happy and very proud.
Hi all! Wow, there's quite a number of people on this thread! Its hard keeping up with everyone. I'm just going to keep checking in regularly and am looking forward to getting to know all of you. Its wonderful to see so many ladies lifting. I finally got back into the gym after a 4 day hiatus and am feeling wonderfully fatigued after a good upper body workout.
I was MIA for a couple of days due to work pressure and having a couple of teenage boys around the house. WOW, I only now realise that in some way or other it is draining. Just to sit among a total chaos of computergames, dirty glasses & other stuff (including friends) that are indespensable to DS & his "mates" to have themselves a great holiday. to do the boy credit, he did arrange all of this by himselve, even coocked me dinner (shoarma pita), so i should not copmplain. he is now staying with the friend, and i now have DD with her friend staying over. Makes a change I bet.
Still, no formal exercise as yet. i picked up the house, vacuumed etc, and now need to do some work while the brain is still functioning. I hope I'll be able to pop in a DVD later in the afternoon.
We had a lovely visit with some friends last evening. They've been doing a BFL type food thing and going to our local gym 6 days a week. It was a great chat.
Good to meet like minds in real life, Susan. I always enjoy it but it's so rare! That's why this is such a good place.
Well done, 2F, on a storming victory!
Hullo to everyone. Special hullo to all you new people I haven't met properly yet.
Off to Ironbridge, cradle (crucible?) of the industrial revolution, tomorrow for a week. Blast furnaces a-go-go. So I'll be scarce. Well, downright absent. I expect there'll be lots of iron for me to lift there. You know, girders and things.
This morning I did an UBWO on my ball. It was kind of scary especially when I was holding 40 lbs worth of dumbbells. I could feel myself constantly correcting my body in order to stabilize my body. I am really starting to like waking up early to exercise. I haven't been able to wake up early enough to go to the gym but working out at home is working for now and exercise doesn't get pushed out later in the day. I also did my bellydancing DVD last night which was something fun but not too strenous before bed.
I still haven't sorted out the wedding music! I need to go apply for the marriage license (it takes 48 hours). I need to pick out the menu for the food and I need to get a final count on the numbers. Everything else is done and the dress fits although I need to take it in to the seamstress so she can check the beads and steam it for me.
We're not having walking in music or exiting music for me, but I do have a band. We did our food tasting, which was fabby! Everyone's replied to the invites too, so that's all good - I just need to check if people are bringing a guest or not (some didn't say!)
Sheesh ... did I wish for cardio or what? Our regular water aerobics instructor is away, and this morning the Y's fitness director filled in. Wowzers! She had us mowing up and down the lanes like speed demons, pumping arms, kicking feet and focusing on our cores. And she was a stickler for form, too. It was great ... but I bet I sleep tonight, if not before!
Oh you beautiful brides. You're going to have wonderful days. Fru, I think I've seen too many BBC productions ... are you getting married in a registry of some kind, or in a church. You mentioned no music, which is almost unheard of in the colonies.
Nellie, from one morning exerciser to another, I predict the AM routine will grow on you. There's something sensational about getting the blood circulating first thing, and it's really nice to have it done before starting the rest of the day. ' course, there are days when you find yourself stiffening up by mid afternoon, but it seems like a small price to pay.
Greetings to all. Hope everyone is having a great day!
In two week's time my whole life kind of got turned upside down. I’ve been skimming over the last couple week’s posts and just wanted to say “welcome” to the new people and glad to hear so many of you are doing well with your plans.
2Fru – I love that pic of you at the finish line. I would frame that for sure! Also, your new routine sounds killer. Good luck.
nelie – Hope you’re doing better and you’re getting the fatigue issue figured out.
Our trip to Wisconsin was beautiful, and I couldn’t picture a more perfect wedding day. I’m so excited for my sis and new brother-in-law.
My indoor pictures didn’t turn out the best but I just looked at some of the proofs from the professional photographer online and they are gorgeous!
While we were in Madison following the wedding my bf received his formal job offer after his interview and I had a really good interview with a potential employer for a position I’m very interested in, we looked at 7 places up for rent and selected a nice big 2br apartment (for which we will pay 56% of what we currently pay for our 1br!) and the lease signing is in the works. The moving truck will come to pick up our stuff two weeks from tomorrow, arrangements have been made to ship my car, and bf and I will start driving halfway across the country with the dog on the following Sunday. It should take us 4 days via the route we’ve planned. We're so excited! I resigned from my job and will be very busy tying up loose ends for the next couple weeks.
So that’s what I’ve been up to. Sadly keeping an eye on what I’m eating and sticking to my regular workouts has kind of slipped through the cracks. I’ve been hitting the gym hard this week, even got back to some UB lifting after a hiatus due to my shoulder injury. It’s mostly dull pain now if any, and almost no sharp pain any longer, so I think working with some lighter weights and stretching can only speed up the healing process at this point. Also, not lifting made me kind of crazy, and do you know how fast your muscles disappear after you stop lifting? Can you say atrophy? I’m still on the c25k plan, even though I missed a couple runs while out of town I’m back on track. I’m going to research gyms to check out when I get to Madison so I can get right back into the swing of things after the move.
