Ellen,

I sneak food in EVERYWHERE! Movies, skating rink, anywhere. I don't do it for health reasons, I do it for budgetary reasons. I read a journal entry that my son wrote in the 2nd grade where he talked about a fun Saturday afternoon where I took him to the movies and snuck in chicken nuggets, fries, M&Ms and juice packs. I was so embarassed because the teacher reads them all. When we had parent conferences a few weeks later, she told me she liked his entry and that she was also a food smuggler. Maybe we should have our own website so we can trade ideas on successfull smuggling

Thank you Mel, Tiki, Rabbit - I am so rules oriented, I never thought I could break them (OK, just the stupid ones - baby steps and all). Thank you, thank you, thank you. I love the idea of the tampon box, too

I did 25 minutes on the elliptical and an hour yoga session today. I am feeling pretty good and looking forward to a walk this afternoon. I need to check up on the park service and see how "my" tulips look this year.

Sounds like everyone got a spring start this week (yep, the pun is intentional), so let's keep it going!

hi LWL,

Tiki: great story on the food smuggling thing !! I can identify though. Apart fom the food selection (usually now what I would usually buy) I find it very difficult to pay the high prices for stuf i don't even want to eat !.

Ellen : great workout !

I stayed clean foodwise yeaterday, and today put in 10 mins row, LBW, 30 mins jog and 10 mins bike. Also I will probelbely fetch my daughter from school by bike today.
Scales are still in the old 2 pound track.

Have a nice day,
rabbit

Hi all,

Ellen, your workout sounds great. I have got to get into the gym and try a yoga session.

Rabbit, I wish I could still do the rowing machine. They took them all out of my gym and put in a gazillion elliptical machines instead.

I took the kids to a Detroit Pistons bball clinic last night and we didn't make it home till after 11. However, I still dragged my butt out the bed this AM and got in 35 on the elliptical and worked chest. We have no activities scheduled for tonight so I plan to be in the bed by 10PM. When my clock went off this AM, I was dreaming that my son had put a bunch of dirty wet clothes in my dryer. I hit snooze and jumped back in the bed so I could have 9 more minutes to go fuss at him. Go figure.

Morning all! Glad everyone is doing well. Love the idea of the tampon box...need to find someone who still uses them...I and all my friends are post-menopausal...not a box in sight!

Got my arthroscopy scheduled for the first week in May. So glad I can get it done earlier than I thought, and should be better by the time my grandchild arrives.

What I can't figure out is why, though I haven't gained any weight, my pants are all tight. Guess it's the lack of lower body cardio that is redistributing my weight. That really stinks.

Why is life so unfair. Wahhhhhh!

I'm getting a cortisone shot next week which should help the situation...I understand I should be able to get back to my cardio after that.

The weather is gorgeous and I am not going to let any of this get me down. Enough complaining. Have a great day all.

Susan- And now for the really disheartening news: go look at the picture of fat vs. muscle under Ilene's signature. That's why your pants are tight even though the scale is staying the same. Since your knee mishap, you haven't been working lower body and are losing muscle mass at the same rate as it is being replaced by an equivalent weight of fat. Fat is bigger The result is tighter pants. The reverse scenario is why we tell everyone to do measurements or use the pants-o-meter instead of just using the scale as a measurement of progress. Once you get the knee repaired and are through rehab, I'm sure you'll be able to get back to where you were and move on

Tiki- That's pretty bad that you slept in to continue a dream harangue with your son! (sounds like something I'd do...although these days there are far too many real arguements to want to continue them in my dream )

Legs done, and 2 clients done this morning. I have the afternoon off, then back to the gym for the evening. If I'm get brave, I'll go try out my new inline skates again otherwise, a walk and then some garden clean-up so the deer and bunnies can clearly see what they are eating.

good day all, and good week too. I have been MIA for the last few days, the truth, is I fell off the workout wagon and clean eating wagon so I could not face everyone here so I went MIA until I had enough and jumped back on
I did go to the grocery store specifically for veggies and chicken breasts for my clean eats and went back to the gym today and did a great cardio workout followed by a really great leg workout, hit some 10's.

I had a dream last night that I was at a beach party and was wearing a bikini and dancing and I looked terrific, i awoke feeling like I am going to get my strong, lean body back I had before.

I did take some pics of me in my bathing suit to compare to when I first began and I do see some differences but have a way to go. But it did lift my spirits, of course that dream helped too

hi LWL,

Tiki- I had a laugh at your dream experience. it just shows how busy we are with what our kids are up to !

Jen - welcome back on the wagon ! I wish jumping on and off could count as cardio or legs. It would be a major part of my workout !!

Fetching DD by bike did not work out yesterday: frankly it was too cold and windy to get myself motivated. This morning also only did 20 mins row. BUT I am heading for town shortly for a day of shopping cardio with my husband !! Really looking forward to it.

Have a great day,
Rabbit

Hi all,

I love the cardio you have planned today Rabbit. That's the BEST kind.

I have cheerleading tonight. I wish I could say I worked out this evening but alas, I cut off two alarm clocks and did not get up in time. Soooo....after I get home tonight, the girl is cooking dinner while the boy showers (he lost the coin toss), they will eat, the girl will shower and I will work-out while all of this is going on.

I was bad yesterday. Wensday is normally a lifting day for me. I had just started my period, though, and when I got home I didn't feel like doing anything but eating chocolate ice cream and snarling at anyone who came near me.

I split the difference. I gave myself the night off from my routine, and had a sensible dinner of a 4 oz salmon filet and a small baked sweet potato. And I didn't bite anyone's head off.

Had a good workout last night. Did upper body stuff, and I'm comfortably sore today. Plus I was able to lift the same amount of weight I was doing before I got sick. Also had a decently sweaty , though I can say I enjoyed it as much as the lifting.

tealeaf -- You didn't bite anyone's head off but did you have the ice cream ??

Jen -- I agree teenagers are a pain, most of the time! Today teen #1 got his license!!

Today food has not been good, today exercise has not happened yet!! It's almost six, it's raining and I don't know if I can drag myself to a busy gym!! It's not even nice enough to go outside to jog, it's POURING!! I was going to take tomorrow off but I guess I'll take today? I feel badly because I've gone only twice this week!! I'll go Friday and Saturday, I'm just not into it tonight...

Thanks for listening to my ramble...TTFN

My condolenences to you, Ilene, and congratulations to your new driver That was the most stressful time aside from applying to universities, that I had with my dd. And I have to go through it all again in a year and a half!

Jen- Whatever is going on, hang in there. Make sure you take care of yourself too.

Tealeaf- LOL, sounds like a good compromise. Nice to hear that no one was injured and you had a sensible dinner.

I've had a good week so far and have firm plans to continue it Eats and workouts have been spot on, and the scale is slowly moving back to my pre-March madness level. Tomorrow is going to be tough- I have six clients spread through the whole day, but I'll get back and cardio done somehow.
