Default LWL #175 - Week of Oct. 18 - 24

Good Monday morning everyone! I see now that this is a ploy to get me to stop lurking - making me start the new thread on Mondays!

I'm at home this morning - taking a "mental health" day to get caught up on a lot of stuff around the house.

So far, so good, I've survived through 8 days of SBD Phase 1 now, and I think I'm happy with the results. You see, TOM came a week early, and you know how that can mess with the scale!

But I feel better than I have in a few months, and that's a good thing - in fact that's the whole point of this - get back on track and feel good physically again!

Now I just need to get back into my workouts! I can do some upper body stuff here at home today, and will go for a walk. Then, tomorrow it will be back in the gym and back into cardio.

It's a gray day here in the Northeast - was hoping for some sun to give me some motivation, but I think I'm gonna have to rely on music for that instead. Lots of fun stuff to do like cleaning out the fridge, and recaulking the bathtub.

Well, I hope you're all off to a good start today - have a good one!
Cindy

PS - I wanted to thank and curse whoever recommended the Kathy Reichs books - since then I've read every one of them! I enjoyed the books, but they are a great way to procrastinate!

BFL Cat ... you must be my omen this morning. All night at work BFL has been haunting me. I looked it up on the internet and I think ... I thought alot about trying their six day work out schedule for my seven day challenge.
And now here you are! A BFL person .... hmmmm ....
Pop in once in a while this week and give me a shove would ya? I'm a serious under-exerciser.

Hi Guys!
Happy Monday.
Busy, Busy, Busy lately. I give the food and workouts about a B- over the last couple days.
I am drinking my protein shake and determined to take care of my temple like it deserves today!
I'll post my diet and workout later.

Default I goofed!

Well, if I am going to record my achievements, I also am going to be honest and admit when I blow it...Friday was a real loser. I ended up eating 16 Oreo cookies...and I don't even like them!!!...then continued with cheese, nuts, etc. I was so depressed and sick by the end of the day.

But Saturday I walked 6 miles and did alot of gardening, and was just perfect eating wise. Thank goodness when I binge I no longer binge forever...I've learned to start all over the next day. Just wish I didn't get these lack of control days. Sunday was another long walk and gardening. Too cold to kayak. Cindy, I kayak on the Potomac. When I say sea kayak...it's the type of kayak, not where I go. It differs from river kayaking, where you use a small kayak with a skirt over fast water (and rapids).
I also like Kathy Reich...have her newest book on hold for me at the library.

Mel, loved your elliptical adventure, very funny. Will have to try it if I join the Bally gym. And I do have a smith machine in my bedroom. His name is John. Ooops, a little off color here. Sorry, couldn't resist. Just kidding.

Nellie, hope your knees are ok.

Was up during the night and woke too late to do my UB lifting this morning. Will have to get it in tomorrow, as I have class tonight.

Happy Monday everyone!

Smile

Well hello everyone, I have read your "welcome backs" and want to say thank you. I never realized how much I missed this forum and support that everyone gives around here. Funny thing happened to me yesterday, my husband came home and told me that his co-worker has given us a stair stepper since it is clean up week around here, we were either going to take it or he was going to throw it out. My husband knowing me too well brought it home. So I am taking that as a sign, just like there is no coincodences, well maybe I don't need to work out at the gym after all. I can continue my weights that I have been doing but add in the cardio that I have now.
So I think I will start the BFL again, my eating was well today and my weights and cardio will be just a little different though but I will allow myself one cheat day per week. Also i think any activity is better than none.
Well thanks again everyone, I will chat with you soon!!!
Have a good monday ladies!!

Default Moving Monday

NELIE - Yes, the joys of yoga, you will be able to sit funny, and turn with twisting and not your whole body. Two dinner rolls don't blow the whole lifestyle. Take it easy on getting better soon, the gym will be there.

MEL - If I have a smith machine in my bedroom, it is under my husband's pile of clothing.

JEN - One thing about doing BFL again is that you know what you are doing and were successful before, so you have more motivation and support to keep at it. Maybe your results will be better this time around.

CINDY - Cleaning out the fridge can really motivate me to stay on track. Toss out the old stuff, make room for the new.

SUSAN - Great progress that when you are out of control, you are in control of the out of control. Great recovery on the oreos, gardening is so constructive.

Week one Day one of BFL seems to be going smoothly. Got to the gym for a good UBWO and relaxed on the rowing machine. It really stretched out my back. The eating is funny though. I have to keep up with the schedule and remember the portion control - though using the fist method makes all the difference in the world. I am traveling today like I am taking trek somewhere, I work late on Mondays, so I won't eat when I get home. I packed it all up and brought it with me.

Off to the Farmer's Market to check that out.

This is my first day with the BFL workout. Yesterday I did cardio so today I started with upper body. I need to purchase some more dumbells tho'. I had to start with nothing because I only had three increases. But I have pathetic arms so I'll piddle away a little longer.

Liza,
I wasn't really fretting the dinner rolls because they were good, if they tasted bad, I'd feel really bad about them

SusanB,
Don't worry, your arms will get stronger soon enough.

I went to the doctor today and she told me she believes I have a viral infection but I had to get some lab work done to see what is really wrong which I am supposed to hear back tomorrow about. No medication yet. I guess I am taking a slight unplanned lifting break until I am better.

Just calling in for a moment. You are all doing *pretty* well, it seems to me. I'm trying hard but exhaustion is getting in my way. As you know, sleep is the number one priority for me! Food has been mediocre because of poor sleep. I've been keeping the exercise going. And that is good! Something, at least, every day. Went to the gymn this morning. Stacked a bit of wood too.

I listened to an interesting radio programme (Four Corners, BBC Radio 4) yesterday about obesity around the world, with experts from China, Britain and somewhere else. You can listen to it again for a week: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/factual/fourcorners.shtml). It really does set this 'obesity epidemic' in context. Looked for something in print but couldn't find anything.

I've just posted the link over at Alternachicks as the subject came up but I'd intended it for here. I see this as my home forum, you see.

Be kind to yourself today, whatever happens. I'm going to, too.

Mornin everyone,
5:12 am and I'm a few minutes behind heading to the gym because its 17 below, car needs some extra time to warm up.
Eating is still good, mostly whole natural foods. The Supersize Me movie is still working on me. lol I had a free meal on Satuday. I still hit the gym pretty much every day, unfortunately, the scale doesn't budge. Inches either for that matter. *sigh* Oh well, I feel good, that counts for something.
have a great day

Default Rainy Tuesday

First day on BFL, did pretty well, though the water is an issue for some reason. I got to the gym in the rain and did a good UBWO, tomorrow is cardio, I am going to hit the eliptical with all the talk about it. makes me long for it. Oh yeah right.

Farmer's Market was great, got some brocoli, green peppers and parsley. I just like eating things fresh and in season.

NELIE - how are you doing with your long days and food? I was thinking about you as I started the day with breakfast at 7 aml and am dragging enough food to hold me until I get home tonight about 11 or midnight. Once I get through these two days, I feel great especially if I have been able to keep up with my gym schedule. Get better and relax first, don't get sicker, hopefully it is something short and minor.

Susan B - Maybe you can increase the reps while waiting for the bigger weights. I am slowly and surely moving up to the 15's and 20's, even the 25's.

Off to yoga, at least with it in the office, I only have to change and head to the fourth floor.

Cool Happy Tuesday

Nelie - hope you're feeling better soon. Take care of yourself. Thanks for the link, Silverbirch, the program sounds really interesting. SusanB, I had the same problem w/ the BFL increases in weight when I started. I got a few more dumbells, but then I decided to stop doing it that way and just do 3 sets at the same weight, heh.

Tammy, I'm impressed you do anything when it's 17 below, let alone go to the gym that early! Susan/Artmaker, I know what you mean about losing it and binging. On Saturday, I decided I must have Chinese food even though it wasn't OP, and since I got it by myself, I ate it all Don't beat yourself up too much about it; life's too short to not allow yourself some slipups.

Last night I did 25 minutes on the stationary bike after my LBWO. I still haven't got that whole balance thing down, but I enjoyed it. I'm considering doing an introductory Aikido class next month that I just found out about. Anyone do any martial arts?
