Default Hypoglycemic Incident

I wasn't sure where to post this question. And I apologize if I've offended anyone by posting it twice.
Many years ago (this is how my healthfood nutness started) I was diagnosed as hypoglycemic. I haven't had any trouble for years. But I did this afternoon at about 1 pm. It was an awful feeling.
I had been up since about 0730. I'd eaten yogurt, cottage cheese, green beans, golean cereal, coffee and about 1.5 litres of water by then. Not in that order!
I hadn't done any cardio. Just housework and this http://www.stumptuous.com/program8.html
weight work-out. But only with ten pounds and I didn't do the abs because I'd done abs last evening.
Any thoughts?

Hi Susan,

I have been diagnosed as hypoglycemic too. I occassionally experience episodes while lifting usually not after though. In my experience episodes generally come from eating something high in sugar (which I doubt was your case from the food you listed) or if I am coming down with something, but My number one thought though was wondering if you had eaten enough. I find I have to eat after a weight workout or I feel blah.

Hope this helps!

Ali

I should have added, if it seems really out of the ordinary you might want to consult your doctor.

Here is what I think... You ate, starting at 7:30 till 1PM : yogurt, cottage cheese, green beans, golean cereal, coffee and about 1.5 litres of water... In 5 and a half hours it seems you didn't eat enough IMHO... Not enough protein, not enough carbs and the foods you ate were all processed except for the green beans and cottage cheese, which is processed in a sense... I eat every 2 to 3 hours and by that time I NEED it in a big bad way...

You also don't describe what happened at 1PM, where you feeling light headed, weak, sick?

If it does persist please see your doctor...

Hi Guys,
I am also Hypoglycemic and I have to agree with Lanaii. That isn't very much food for that amount of time. Also, are you being sure to eat a protein and a carb (low gylcemic) combo at every 'meal' (ie: feeding)? I also eat about 7 or 8 times per day and when I don't, I can sure feel it... in the from of crashing. Also, if I eat a carb only meal this happens shortly after...
It never hurts to run it by the Doc...
Good luck

Feedings ... I like that. You're all right about eating enough. I lost all my weight on 1200 calories and am having trouble getting my head around being able to eat more and not gain it back. I always did eat several times during the day but small amounts. Today was my first day back to work from vacation and I tried to set things up better. I had breakfast and took food for break, lunch and afternoon break, then stopped for turkey pepperettes on the way home. For supper we're having tortillas with ground chicken and veggies. I'll have to think of something for later, probably kashi and soy milk.
My doc's on holidays, but I'm sure he'd say "you didn't eat enough" too. Thanks all. I'm getting smarter.
