Talking DUH! And Sorry too

I sure didn't mean to be the 'new mystery poster' from L&S. I am SusieM on L&S, but couldn't be that here. So, Niffer is the shortened version of my middle name, Jennifer.

Thanks all of you for making me feel welcome here. More 'girlie' topics

Well, I gotta run take my girl to school and shove some steal cut oats and egg whites down before I head off to the gym and to a closing (I'm a realtor) Yeah!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Arrow challenge

Hey everyone,

I am on week 8 or so of my first challenge. I am going to be done around Jan 12 i believe. my plan is to finish my second challenge just before my 25th birthday. my mom is really excited..and can't stop talking about how i am doing and that she can't believe that i am not cheating etc. its kind of fun. I am trying to finish around that time b/c I start to play field hockey twice a week and i will be playing tennis again twice a week....so i will still be exercising.

Hey Patto,

There are a few of my friends that I haven't told. I am going to be seeing some of them this Christmas and I can't wait to show my partially transformed body

Default Hi there everyone!!

Sheesh...less than two weeks til Christmas already

Sorry I've been the silent person here...but I've been superbusy lately. I've been babysitting at night (actually I should call it "watching the kids" since a 6 year old and a 12 year old are not exactly "babies" anymore) so my sister and her hubby can get their Santa Shopping done. (I just finished all my shopping - did most of it on the Internet - but my sister isn't exactly Internet savvy and likes the hands-on approach.) and yesterday was our division's Christmas luncheon which was at the beautiful Claremont Resort and Spa in Berkeley. It was actually a lot of fun. Luckily the food wasn't all that great - I was able to get a lot of veggies and chicken breast. The fun started when the 'game show host' started a Jeopardy game - complete with podiums. I am FILLED with useless trivia so I tend to shine at these types of things (as long as there are no math or football questions). It was great fun!

Patt - you do exactly what I do - I don't make big announcements or anything like that about what I'm eating, exercising etc. I think sizes vary amongst manufacturers - I actually prefer DKNY jeans but I might switch to Wrangler - not because of the SIZE TAG but because they're more equine-oriented (okay, it's the image thing again).

As far as squatting - first work on your FORM. Use just the bar at first - hopefully if you have access to a squat rack, there's a mirror handy - and just concentrate on form. Mistress Krista's website has a great page called "from Dork to Diva" about this subject - if you haven't already checked it out it's at http://www.stumptuous.com/badsquat.html

At the same website, there's also a lengthy article called "Mastering the Squat" - defintely worth a read! http://www.stumptuous.com/learnsquat.html

Ledom - I have the same problems with my legs. Those saddlebags just never seem to go away - they just get smaller, ya know? With me, I'm pretty sure it's due to fat cells that I 'cultivated' between the ages of 7 and 28 years...you know, that even though you lose the fat, the empty cells remain. I also have a loose skin issue on my thighs and abs, but it's not NEARLY as bad as some cases I've seen! I just keep working my legs as hard 'n' heavy as I can muster. I LOVE doing squats - lunges aren't exactly my favorite exercise but I know that they're one of the most effective ones, so I do 'em too (I prefer deadlifts personally).

Mel - I have SOOO many hobbies, obssessions, whatever you want to call them, that hold my interests at different times...Horses has been one since I was a kid (I bet my parents are STILL amazed that I didn't 'grow out of it'). Since I grew up in Suburbia, the best I could do was an occasional beach ride at the rental place on the Coast, or Dad would take me to Bay Meadows RaceTrack on Saturday mornings to watch the horses work out and go on the barn tour. I also collected those Breyer horses and read every book about horses I could get my mitts on or check out of the library...I've done the same with music, the Beatles, birds, weight loss (of course!) and a slew of other subjects including bodybuilding. Actually right now it's not the weights that are burning me out (although I really need a new split - I'm thinking of doing the chest/quad, etc. split that I've done in the past and I think you're doing now) - it's the CARDIO, which for some reason has become much more boring lately, even with my new MP3 player! Oh well!

Just got a 118-page document to edit and format on my desk, so gotta run for now...

Default Hey guys

I forgot to mention congrats Mel on hitting your lowest weight - you too Patt.
Mel, you'll look superb in that strappy black dress.

Today is the last day of week 11 for me. Can you believe it!? The time truly has flown. OSC, I'm like your mother, in awe that I have managed to stick with it.

Looking forward to the weekend. I hope to go see the movie Far From Heaven - have any of you seen it? I have heard great reviews.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Thanks Ledom. Of course I've bounced back up above 170 again, but that's how it happens. At least I will get to say a lighter weight when I get my skis adjusted: Height? 5'4" Age? mumble Weight? 168!!!!!!! The ski jocks, of course, fail to understand why I'm so proud of 168. Or as a ski sales man said, skis are sized these days by how heavy or light you are for your hight. My Dh (sun out of a$$ guy) is now light for his hight, and guess what? I'm considered heavy for my hight, like duh..... Even when I get to a decent BF level, I think I will still be heavy for my height!!!!

I've started my weekend early, Ds has a professional day and we have pulled Dd out for the day. Goin' shoppin' !!!!

This is technically our last week of this challange, but we decided to go for another week so we are still keeping on .... sigh .... I feel really tired, maybe still sick. Ds has strep throat and my throat has been soar for a few days. I'm gonna go and get a swab. I could barely do arms on wed, and now today is legs ......

Default sick :(

Hey everyone,

I am pretty excited that it is week 9....however i am really sick ..and it stinks. I haven't had much to eat today I went to the gym today but couldn't tell if i was sweating b/c i was working hard...or b/c i had a fever...i just barely finished my legs but didn't do abs..i didn't think that the bouncing sort of action would be good for my tummy... *bleh* ...lol...but i am glad i went...

hope everyone is doing well. I feel like i have hit a plateau and my weight is going nowhere...i am not sure..i still feel pretty good and look good..and my mom bought me a new pair of pants to wear to family Christmas b/c she says that my pants hang off me...so that's kind of nice

later girls.

Angry Almost Christmas!!

And then it will be over...thank goodness (okay, didn't mean to sound like a GRINCH there but I had a lot more fun in the holidays when I was a kid!).

I just finished another novel - "Good in Bed" by Jennifer Weiner. It's what my sister Jen would call "another Fat Girl story" (i.e. Bridget Jones' Diary, Jemima J., etc. etc.). Lots of twists and turns in this one - if you need a light holiday read, check it out of the library!

This weekend we have had some HUMONGOUS storms in the Bay Area - so of course no riding but at least it gave me a chance to do a bit of much-needed cleaning around the house - and all week I've been helping my sister by watching the kids so her and her hubby can do their "elfing" (Santa shopping) so...haven't spent a lot of time at the PC - but did get a chance to post some horse-show pix at the L&S Playspace yesterday (right before sis called to ask me to watch my Precious Nephew for a couple of hours!).

As far as workouts go - I am ready for a change in my splits BIG TIME. I'm going to spend some time this morning working on a new split - strongly thinking about splitting the legs again - doing quads with chest one day, hams with back the next - I've done that before and it is GREAT as I could focus on quads big time. I think Mel is doing this, aren't you? Oh and Mel, did you buy the Trainers' Edge software - how's it working if you did? I got their demo CD and just COULD NOT get it installed on my PC - it took up a heckuva lot of memory to boot and never did work. Fortunately since then I've beefed up my Dell's KBs. How easy is Trainer's Edge to use? Any comments? (Feel free to PM me if you want).

Hey JC - where are ya gal? Seen a few posts at L&S but none here for awhile...hope you're feeling okay!

Sweetchick!!! Feel better soon! Just keep eating clean as much as you can - and REST. I know it can be tempting to go to the gym 'anyway' but ya need to heal, you know. Oh, and stay away from the scale - at least until the end of the Challenge - scale weight really doesn't mean diddly on BFL!

To everyone else - hope you're having a great weekend - I've gotta run to the mall for some last-minute gifts before it gets all crowded...and we're having a Barn Party this afternoon at the stables...hopefully the weather will stay relatively calm!

Well, I WAS going to the mall but Jim's truck is blocking my car! He had a gig last night and didn't get home until 4 am...and parked the Dakota in the driveway - my Jetta is in the garage with his MOTORCYCLE (aack...I'm NEVER getting on that thing!). Oh well, guess I'll take an early lunch break tomorrow and dash over to Hillsdale - I still have to get little prezzies for my co-workers (Cost Plus has nifty little thingies) and a gift for Uncle Charles - anyone have ideas as to what to buy a 94-year-old man? I've gotten him scarves for the past three years!! I will probably end up going to Old Navy or Macy's and getting him some warm slipper-sox and a Polartec throw - he is one of those senior citizens who doesn't like to turn on the heater in his house - instead he turns the oven on high and leaves the oven door open (scary). My sister and her hubby go up to San Francisco twice a week to check up on him and have TOLD him not to do that...so now his house is like a fridge...they have the heater guy come out to check every year and it works, he just doesn't feel comfortable using it!

Anyway, I've gone through my old routines and found one from earlier this year that I've tweaked and am going to start tomorrow...I'll try posting it in my Journal (finally something in my journal ) so y'all can check it out! Advice/opinions welcome!

Default Sunday

Just got back from getting our tree which is about all I've done so far holiday-wise. Guess I'd better get started! I agree, this was a LOT more fun when I was a kid and someone else did all the work. I'm doing Christmas dinner, but for only about 10 people so it shouldn't be too much of a trauma.
Had a great time a our neighborhood party last nite- there was a fantastic vocal duo with dj and it was to much fun to dance to live music. I ate a little of almost everything that looked appealing- funny how some things just didn't look appealing that I would have loaded up on 2 years ago. Actually, I would have eaten more, except the waitstaff was a bit agressive about clearing tables and every time I put my fork down, my plate disappeared! Finally gave up on food and just drank LOL! I'm a real cheap drunk these days.
I did an 8 mile run in the morning and then danced for about 4 hours (in heels so my feet, hips and knees were complaining some this morning. Today is definitely rest day. And back to clean food. My fingers were so puffy this morning despite all that running and dancing.

Karen- That was the split I did until last week and I loved it. The chest and quad day is really tough, tho. 2 big muscle groups. I've changed to a 3 day split for the next month so I have more time to concentrate on running and cardio in general so I can drag myself 13.2 miles in the Disney 1/2 marathon January 12. I'm already missing that 4th day of lifting. And long treadmill runs are agonizingly boring! But I promised a friend I'd do this with her, so I will. I'll PM you later today about the Trainer's Edge software.

Gotta go clear a spot for the tree,

mel
