Morning all - it is ccccold out there. A roasty 22F with wind! standing at the bus this morning. (That makes it feel like 9F for any windchill fans out there)
I too believe in the theory of magic tiles in my bathroom! Never considered that it could be a directional, magnetic pull of the earth, gravity kind of thing tho Mel. Will have to get my compass in there now and check things out! I weigh 3 times each time, on my 3 favorite tiles, and then when I find the lowest, will weigh once more and take the lowest of the final 2 weights. Oh yes, this is definitely down to a science. Every .2 counts! My lbwo didn't kill me, even though I worked well to exhaustion at the time. Getting fit, or something else is what that means, not sure. Have a great day everyone! Oh and Fru, was Mr. Man still around to get to see what YOU squatted? :) |
Hi LWL,
Day 2 of landscapers. I cannot believe when I look outside how gorgeous my garden looks. I know I will sweat when I pay this huuuge bill, but it is certainly worth it. Especially when you contemplate how much work I would have to do to get the same results that 4 young men with expertise & big power tools did do in 2 days. (I am 5 foot 2", 47 yrs old, and forget about me handling a chainsaw. no way.) Also, I finally caved in in my local hardware store, and bought the elliptical they had on sale. I'm going to put it in front of my TV, see if i can sneak in some cardio if I put it next to the couch. Thanks about the tips on magic tiles BTW!. I only have one, but I make dead sure that the scales are right on the right spot (and it still looks like I might have lost a bit. I am still sticking to my personal no-afternoon-munchies diet) Have a great day all, Rabbit |
Fru, you squeal like a girl!! I saw this guy at my gym using the squat rack to do squats and it was so impressive I wanted to bow in reverance. He was squatting (and I mean getting down low, a** to the ground) with 300lbs. Turns out he is a professional body builder (but not cocky or a mirror starer), professional chef, professional bowler and fitness trainer. He is one of the most interesting men I've ever had an opportunity to ogle in my life!
HRbabe, it's freezing here too. I went outside minus my coat this AM to start the car and sprinkle down salt and was a complete popsicle inside of 3 minutes. :shocksn: Nel, Meg and Sue, I don't even get on the scale right now. I know i'm losing cause the clothes are fitting looser. The scale is hidden behind the entertainment center for at least another 2 months. However, I'm due for another set of measurements in two weeks. That should be interesting. In the meantime, as long as I'm checking my intake daily in FitDay and getting in my cardio and weights I know I'm on the right path.:goodscale I dragged my butt out of bed for a Billy workout - wasn't up to comedy cardio. While doing the stretches, my crazy kitty decided to dive off the couch and onto my back. Scared the bejeezers out of me and almost made me hurt my wrist. I can't imagine what she'd be like with catnip.:hyper: Hey e'rebody else in LWL Land? Check in! Whatcha doin today to fuel the muscles and burn the fat? Tiki |
Hi Tiki,
You mean a great guy apart from Billy? Frus - I forgot to comment on your story. I thought it was totally hilarious. I SO hate cocky men ! Have a great day all, Rabbit |
Rabbit, Billy is nice to look at as well but nothing beats up close and personal ogling where you can pretend to be looking for just the right dumbell but you KNOW you really are just trying to get a better look at the tight buns, nice pecs or ripped abs. On top of it all, he is so personable and unassuming. AND he wears his hair in locks, which I totally love. Sigh........
|
 Tiki - send your guy over the pond and show those wussy men how to do it!!!!!
Actually they weren't being lunks or posers or anything but it was funny since the first guy was grunting and sweating and making stupid noises like I do when I'm about to drop the bar on the safeties! |
The lady in the post office wondered if I wanted to get my car and come back for my parcel. "It might be too heavy if you're walking." It was three kilograms! What is this world coming to?
|
Tiki - no scale? I would die. I weigh multiple times per day. It comforts me.
It is chilly here. Last night, I was tired so no exercise. Boo me :) |
FRU: Let me first say that I just  to watch men squat. I think that we could all agree that when it's done correctly it's just awesome. Tiki, I probably wouldn't even had pretended to be looking for a dumbell or weight. Lunges with a barbell are way cool too. Now. Fru, Let me squeal like a girl with you . EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Look at you squatting more than him! YES!!!:high:
NELIE: Yeah, you'll hit that elliptical tonight. ;) Great way to warm up on these cold winter evenings. RABBIT: Hey, enjoy your new elliptical this evening! Sometimes I think it would be a lot of fun to have one in my home. However I think that I need some distance between me and the machine. It's just too tempting to me and I would never get anything else done. I also know that I would probably start singing at the top of my lungs to the music while working out and well, lets just save everyone from that. FRAN AND MEL: I'm getting this funny mental image of all of us doing the scale dance first thing in the morning. Glad to know I'm not alone here :D So this morning I actually needed a MAN at the gym today. While I was in the nursery signing DS2 out and chatting with one of the daycare providers DS2 slipped out of the room and wandered down the hall. I tailed him just in time to see him slip into the mens restroom and see the door soundly close behind him. :censored: I'm NOT going in THERE! What to do. What to do. Fortunately, one of the male directors was coming down the hall and helped me out. I can tell he doesn't have kids...He tried to negotiate with the three year old to come out on his own till I told him to just pick him up and hand him over. The little  is playing with you too. Anyway, got in 35 minutes of cardio on the elliptical and an hour of UBWO. I feel good :goodvibes: |
Hahahaha! Lydia! I can only laugh because those days are behind me. My son did that sort of thing numerous times. He started balking at going into the ladies room with me at about age 3- outright plant the feet, act like a statue refusal. I would panic when he spent more than 30 seconds alone in a men's room or another man would enter. I think I once did go in and haul him out.
Someday I'll have to take videos of "trainers time" on leg day for you ladies. We have a couple of real good looking butts  Nice arms, backs and chests, too. I keep mine pretty much covered :o Tiki- I'm not weighing right now either. I only weigh when I know I'll like the number :lol3: I know I'm getting close from my pants, but I'm giving it another couple of days...maybe next week! Fran- It sounds like your lwbo was higher rep than usual with less weight. Try adding some weight to those ball squats, then drop the weights and do pulses to failure! Lifted shoulders this morning. I have an annoying pain in my bicep tendon when I lift heavy enough to tax my shoulders. PITA- no, that stands for arm. Cardio in a bit when I go back to the gym....yikes, I should be on my way! Pat- I know you are back  Come say hello...... Mel |
I'm here, Mel! Took me all day to read this thread - while working of course :) - and see what everyone is up to! So hopefully I am up to date with you.
First off, YAY for Lydia being recovered - woman, you are back to exercising with a vengence. :bike: Next - big congrats to Frus for a new brown(?) belt. Hope the celebration is fun tonight. ;) And Rabbit, good job on getting your garden lightened up, and a new elliptical too. I'm jealous. We have an exercise bike - yawn - and really no room for any other equipment. Tiki - good to see you back, and working hard. to Nelie, Susan B, Susan Art, Fran, Robin, Meg, and anyone else I've missed. We had a fantastic trip to Costa Rica (pm me if you have specific questions Nelie - we stayed in some great places). This was an Elderhostel trip. 8 couples and a fantastic 30 year old tour guide. He was personable, knowledgeable, and very easy on the eyes. He's into adventure racing, and his idea of relaxing after one of our active days was to jump on his bike and ride for 60-100 km! This was one of Elderhostel's active tours - titled "Energizing Minds and Bodies" - so we did lots of stuff. Hiking on at least 2/3 of the days, including one on a volcano! Also kayaking, white water rafting (twice), ziplining :D , canopy walks on suspension bridges, and a river trip to view crocodiles! We also saw over 100 species of birds, many many insects (including leaf-cutter ants - way cool) and a few mammals. The next to last day was at an upscale spa place where I had a massage, facial, and pedicure - ahhh, a great ending. :) Food was good, but like good Alaskans, DH and I were face down in the fresh tropical fruit. SOOO good. I could go on and on, but I'll spare you. Here are a couple photos from our white water rafting. I'm working on getting my own photos posted, including one of an open-air gym at one of our hotels - much nicer view than mine! I'm in the back on the 3 person row. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h5...h_IMG_4588.jpg This is our guide, Eduardo. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h5...ain/th_PQW.jpg |

 BUGS???? YUk, I'd rather go to Alaska! |
Well, we have lots of mosquitos here, but not a lot else. And no snakes! Of course, there are those pesky moose (kept my housesitter inside for 1.5 hours one day - they were hanging around her car) and bears, though they're not in the residential areas usually. :)

Hi all!
Pat - sounds absolutely fantastic :D I had my little celebration last night :) Got my pink champagne and a few choccies (4 - very restrained) and even managed a light, but treaty tea of goat's cheese on toast with apple and honey. I had ONE slice of toast. I was planning on having a mini-feast with lots of bread and cheese and ice cream, but when it came to it, I just didn't want to! I was just "naturally" restrained without having to argue myself into not eating much, I just didn't want that much anyway, so I think that was pretty much a first, where I've allowed myself to eat nice things but I've ended up not doing it. Well I have hardcore sparring tonight. :stress: so I'm carbing up and knowing Lee and the way things tend to turn out with him, I'll probably end up not sparring that much. But you can never tell, so I will be taking it light at the gym and eating plenty of carbs. :T We watched Rocky last night, and it was so funny when he was doing those one-handed press-ups and clapping press-ups. DH says - oh look it's you! And it WAS! Since I'd just done those things in the gym yesterday lunch! |
