Congrats on coming as far as you have, and welcome!!!
Right now I am at the stage where I have just been approved; I am at the point where I just need an "official" surgery date. I have an in-office consultation with the surgeon on March 5, so I should be getting one around then. Oh the wait! LOL.
Anyway, I was also informed by my nutritionist not to take any fluids 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after meals as well. It doesn't bother me, because I usually don't drink before or during meals at present anyway, so that is one less habit I have to worry about breaking.
As for my psych consult, I got high marks there when I went for mine; she was quite impressed with my realistic approach to the whole surgery thing and how I researched it all before making a decisions and what my expectations were. I know it isn't an overnight thing and it takes a lot of work, like everything else. Nothing worth getting is easy.
And get this: My pulminologist informed me that sleep apnea can also contribute to hypertension, depression, memory problems, strokes, certain cardiac problems....and
weight gain. Go figure! I'm not saying my OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) was the cause of my weight, but it could have played a part, along with my old habits, genetics, and hypothyroidism. The wonders of medicine, eh?
