Jiff glad you like the Nectar! Never thought about the popsicle idea, let us know what you find.

glad your support group went well. I do think we tend to spend way too much time on the pre-ops at support group meetings......don't get me wrong I know it is very important, but many times at our meeting post-op questions would never get addressed. Now, we start out with post-op questions and set a time limit and move on to pre-op concerns. Works well.

Spending a lazy day at home today. Open house for daughter is tonight (school starts Monday.) Tomorrow the band is playing at a Sam's opening. Of course I'm chaperoning Wouldn't miss it!

Back to doing nothing!

Jiff, I understand about the dead computer, for some reason my wireless conection only works when it's in the mood. I have no idea when or why it does that to me, but I do have a backup Dialup connection that I can use for email and such, but the threads take entirely too much time to load for my patients!!!

So much is going on I could write a month, but no time. I'll just say that ole Alvin went to his surgeon's appt yesterday and Yes, I did go with him. He has about 50 more pounds to loose before the talk plastic surgery. All in all we were both satisfied with the dr's apointement. I won on the no soda issue!!!

I'll have to try the NECTAR protein.

Haqng in there Peachie, I'm thinking about you!

Hi Ladies--I am just a lurker--this protein stuff you are talking about. Does it have a brand name?? Do you buy it in the health food store or where?? I am a Type 2 diabetic who has lost 70 lbs in the last 3 years (just diet modification and exercise--portion control). I know I dont get enough protein--and this drink stuff sounds like something I could do.

Thanks for the info
Chris

chris... it took a PROTEIN drink to bring you out of lurkdom????? go to syntrax.com and they have a list of stores where you can buy the nectar. or you can call them on their 800 number. a very polite bunch of people in missouri.

i found it at a chain called The Vitamin Shoppe. GNC doesn't have it [they are pretty much corporation-owned, and the corporation tells the stores what they can and cannot carry]. i'm sure there are many others. or i think you can also order it directly from syntrax innovations.

let us know where you find it! i'm sure other lurkers will be glad to have the info.

and congrats on your success... you've worked very very hard and it's really showing!

Hi Peeps,

Whine alert! This post is mostly a vent that I probably shouldn't post, but it's therapeutic to be able to write it all down.

This has been the summer from **** and continues to be so. It's gotta get better!

Last week, we had a huge, 100-year-old cottonwood tree fall down, roots and all. My husband, a friend and I were actually standing outside, very close to this tree when it happened. It fell over the road and onto some power lines. Twenty foot flames shot up from the lines and the field (mountainside) across the road from us went up in flames. There were power lines falling all around us. I cannot begin to tell you how scary it was. The fire was put out pretty quickly and power was restored in about 6 hours, so things could have been a lot worse, but it is a sight I won't forget anytime soon!

My mother-in-law was diagnosed with liver cancer recently. She's having more tests today. The last biopsy was very painful, so hopefully today's tests are better. I'm amazed at how slowly the doctors are proceeding with all of this. She's already survived breast cancer.

I filled out all Kaiser's paperwork for WLS and sent it in, but am not sure I want to have surgery with them even if I am approved. Why do they have to be so barbaric and downright stupid? From what I've read, Pacificare (my other insurance choice) isn't a great choice for WLS either so I'm pretty much in a state of pissed-off despair. I will keep plugging away though.

I take my son to college (8 hours away) on the 26th. Half of me is excited, the other half is dreading it. My baby! We have been fighting with the insurance company ever since his accident on July 4. They finally gave us a fair price for his totalled car, but I'm still sharing mine with him until we find him a suitable car. How fun! He had healed nicely though. Gotta be thankful for the good stuff.

I have to have knee surgery. Actually I'm kind of looking forward to it because I'm tired of hurting all the time. I have an appointment with the ortho surgeon on the 20th. Hopefully we can get this ball rolling and get the surgery over with quickly.

Thanks for letting me vent. I feel much better!

Chickadee.........erase that giant X off your forehead! My gosh, you do need a group hug! Consider yourself hugged by me also. And, I'll go to a baseball game with you, I'll even root for your stinkin' Rockies (as long as their not playing my precious Braves.)

Chris, feel free to jump in and join us on our weekly chat thread, as you can see nothing is off limits. Warning you will get sick, sick, sick of my Band Mom talk but they love me so they let me get away with it

As a matter of fact, I'm up this early because we have pictures this AM at 8:45 for the senior Band kids and their parents, along with football players and cheerleaders. The senior pics with parents are printed in the football program.......like a right of passage I guess.

Good Morning Debbie! I am up too! Can you get me some coffee??

I am planning on scrubbing my kitchen from top to bottom today, it is just amazing how dirty 4 little guys and 1 big guy can be!

My angel Jacob (2) has started throwing food around the kitchen for entertainment purposes and of course Andrew (1) laughs and follows the leader! So During the week I (with the help of my 4 lb Chihuahua) we get up the big stuff but today is scrub the floors day!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Debbie this morning if you get a chance! I got some gossip

Just got back from a Ladies Retreat with our church and it was great. Really helps to put things in perspective.

Chickadee, are you going to have knee replacements? or something else? It's unbelievable how much better I can walk since I had mine done. About insurance is Pacificare the HMO for Pacific Mutual? PM is what we have and they were really great in paying for ole Alvin's surgery.

Jiff how did the apt with the plastic surgeon go? Alvin's hernia is getting bigger and his surgeon's comment was GREAT! Seems like the larger it is the less likely to be a medical risk, but the easier to have the insurance pay for the plastic surgery if they are done at the same time.

Hang in there Peachie, Monday is only two days away!

Chickadee, I am so sorry about your Kaiser issues. I know how hard it can be. Do you know if they cover it in your area?? I do not know what I would have done if I had not been able to change insurance companies.

I just wanted to say hang in there it will be worth it, I promise!
