I've noticed that whenever I'm in the process of losing weight, that my skin starts to act up. I get more acne and it just looks blotchy. I drink lots of water but that doesn't seem to help much. My skin looks better once I enter a plateau stage and the weight stops coming off for a short period, but once the plateau passes and the weight starts coming off again...
Has anyone else had this problem and is there anything I can do about it?
If you don't already, keep a food diary. Perhaps there is something you eat when your are plateauing that is a bit higher calorie but nurtures your skin, or you have an allergy to something you eat when on plan.
Fats are essential for good skin, so perhaps your fat intake is too low (good fats like fish oils, nut oils etc), I found when my fat intake was too low, my skin would play up. It takes some juggling of the calories to add good fats, something has to give to fit them in without me going over my calorie count for the day.
I wish I could help, but I have the opposite effect. I used to be blotchy and badly broken out, but now it's clear. I'll chime in with Ky... keep a food journal and maybe run it by a dermatoligist or allergist? Good luck!

Yep, me too. Soon as I start drinking the water and laying off the fast food, my skin clears up, and the blotches disappear.
I have not been at it for long, but last week my skin started to break out pretty bad. It seems to have cleared up this week though. I think that maybe it is the bad stuff working its way out?
I am far from being an expert, but it very well could be with making better food choices a body expells all the toxins from all the bad choices that used to be made. I have a vegan friend that truly believes in a "spring cleansing" every year and during that time she does experience breakouts. My friend is a person that has a truly wonderful complexion and no major breakouts at any other time.
You're not alone! I have the same problem, too. Although, I suspect that mine is age related as well as diet. I'm almost 30 and I think that my skin is so confused. I'm going to try some anti-blemish/anti-aging products and see if that helps a little. I get pimples, patches of dry skin, and oiliness, plus I'd like to prevent wrinkles. I do think that I need to add some good fats to my diet, too, though. It's worth a try!

You know I never thought of that. You body does take time to break out. It builds up deep under your skin. I know when a person takes the acne medication Accutane (for those of you who do not know what that is, it is a hard medication that in lots of cases CURES a person from sevre acne for the rest of their life) - anyway when a person takes the Accutane it PUSHES all the oil and stuff out of their skin. Lots of times the first few months on it is **** and the person breaks out REALLY REALLY REALLY bad. But this stuff that has been deep down there for a long time.
